Monocline 01

I actually ordered this over a year ago and I was NOT impressed. I did a closet clean out yesterday and 01, 02, and 05 were in the back of my closet just macerating. Since I was in the middle of a closet clean out, I decided I’d try them to see how they’d developed over time. Mannnn am I blown away! All 3 were so good on my skin, each one projects well and lasts for hours. I do have highly moisturized skin and that does indeed make a difference! I’d actually kinda compare 01 to Not a Perfume on my skin... VERY similar. It’s definitely one of those scents that smells different on everyone so this is one you’ll have to decant or just buy, it’s literally $17. By all means, let it macerate if you’re not initially impressed!

Well I'm going to let this maceration process ride out. Just got this today. And boy oh boy it is NOT very pleasant. But I know the science, let it do its thing. So I'll give an honest review in a month or two. UPDATE: Had this for over 3 months now and I find it quite effective as a base to help boost the performance of freshies and citrus heavy frags. No it's not the same as molecule 01 but I find it works quite well

I am so impressed by this! On me it smells like cedar, pencil shavings - but in an incredibly nice way :) Very unisex, calming, reminds me of days spent sketching happily :) I got this to layer with other scents to try to improve their projection, so I’ll update once I see how that goes I didn’t expect this to stand on its own, but it does.

I'm pretty sure this is a clone of eccentric one instead of the OG. I've never smelled the molecule fragrances but monocline 1 definitely has some citrus and pepper notes along with the warmness of iso E super. I still love monocline 1 and use it with most of my fragrances but I don't think it's cloning the og molecule 1.

Monocline 01 reminds me of both Escentric 01 and Molecule 01. Has that vegetal, celery-like note of Escentric 01, but not quite as strong. Fresh and clean, modern, very wearable. Totally unisex.

The perfume is nothing like Molecule 01, totally different scent. However, it’s a beautiful and unique unisex fragrance. Unfortunately, it only lasts for a minute on my skin.

It s a very nice scent, because on every nose it s smells different. For me it smells like pepper, for others soapy or sweet . Very nice

This is pure ISO E Super. It's hard to really describe; it kind of gives a woody cedar impression, but if you smell some real cedar next to it, it's really not the same. I strongly associate the smell with old school formulations of Dior Fahrenheit from the early '90s. AFAIK, Molecule 01 uses 'Iso Gamma Super' by IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances), which is only sold to large perfume companies under contract, whilst it is prudent to assume that Monocline 01 is made with a generic Iso E Super variant. As I understand it, Iso E Super is a relatively large lipophilic (fat-loving) compound that binds well to the oils in human skin and evaporates slowly. It acts as a fixative for other compounds, meaning it can “hold back” small, volatile compounds that really want to evaporate quickly (top-note compounds), extending the overall scent's lifespan on the skin or in the air. In theory, you’re extending the fragrance's half-life, with the trade-off being that it projects less intensely because it traps the highly volatile compounds and releases them more slowly over a longer period of time. However, I would guess that most, if not all, modern perfumery already accounts for this with a variety of fixatives to get a decent longevity, so I am unsure how much this really helps. But if you like the smell of ISO E Super, which I think most people do, then this is a great standalone fragrance, and a great layering tool as well.

The appears to be a clone of Molecule 01, but in reality leans closer to Escentric 01. There are pronounced floral notes in this that don’t exist in straight ISO-E-Super, that usually just smells like sweet cedar. Longevity is about 4-5 hours, not terrible, not great, and it has a soft projection at best. Being only $20/ea, you can afford to spray heavy, or just reup at lunch. Blind buy safe, but does lean feminine. Office safe, no one could hate this (unless they hate fragrances such as Light Blue pour femme). I have tried layering this, and haven’t noticed any difference in longevity to the original scent. Since this isn’t a projection beast, you usually can’t really detect it under something else. TL,DR; leans feminine, not crazy strong on its own, but pleasant. Not great for layering.

It may not be exact to molecule, but I like it for what it is. The king of layering and smells really nice on its own too. And for about $20 you really can't go wrong. "Molecule 01, cannot be replicated exactly using commercially available Iso E Super, as the proportions of isomers and potential additional ingredients are proprietary. While the exact formulation of Molecule 01 remains confidential, it is likely that the fragrance contains a unique blend of Iso E Super with a higher concentration of the gamma isomer, possibly including Iso Gamma Super, a material not available to the public."

Okay. I just tried it with Valentino Coral Fantasy. It does change the scent quite a bit. It makes it more woody and spicy like pepper and it suppresses the sweet and apply top. I recommend using it with something you wanna make more woody and spicy in a peppery way and suppressing some sweetness. Yep. Just tried it with Opulent Dubai. Made it more wearable for me as I thought it smells too feminine. Dialed down the sweetness and added some woodiness. I recommend trying it it's actually very good combo but not for Coral fantasy

This is a light fragrance, lasts all day, stays close to the skin (and on clothes). Not sure if I believe the hype about layering to make another scent last longer? Perfectly good for the office, gym (not sure why people wear perfume to the gym?), or anyplace where you don't want a loud scent. Don't hesitate to overspray. Decent 6.5-7/10.

It smells similar to Molecule 01, Escentic 01 and Zarkoperfume 234.38, I really like this type of scents, but unfortunately Monocline 01 has short live and I can feel barely on my skin. I try to macerate for the better performance.

For me smells soft woody with spicy citrus, very gorgeous fragrance, a bit weak but very useful for gym.

The smell of sterile wood in Home Depot. Cleanly, woody and musky. Pretty good woody skin scent.

Monocline 01 seems to be composed of 100% Iso E Super, perfectly matching the description of this accord. On my skin, there is a subtle hint of coconut pulp or shavings. As it fades, it drifts towards a slightly sweet amber note. I find it difficult to determine its actual staying power. Monocline 01 is a true chameleon — effortlessly unisex, adaptable to any setting, and easy to wear for anyone, anytime. This scent is entirely versatile. On its own, however, there’s a catch. For all its intriguing qualities, Monocline 01 feels a bit incomplete. It lacks the dynamic intensity that makes a fragrance memorable. It smells pleasant yet also somewhat peculiar, as if holding back its true potential. It’s the perfect candidate for layering, acting as a versatile base that can add depth and intrigue to other fragrances. And that’s precisely why I think Monocline 01 could shine best as a layering scent. Think of it as the solid, dependable base that provides a foundation for something more complex. I believe that to make any meaningful use of this aroma, it should be layered with a contrasting scent. Otherwise, it seems to be wasted as a base without any defining characteristics. There’s another short review saying that Monocline 01 is similar to Encre Noire, but I don’t feel that at all. However, my girlfriend described the scent as 'cemetery-like', so maybe there's something to it? This is a dupe of Escentric 01, NOT Molecule 01. There's a reason it smells soapy and peppery, because it has a other notes in it besides ISO E Super. I have tried Molecule 01 and own several other ISO E Super only fragrances and they all smell very similar, to varying degrees of quality, this is not even close to them. I actually regret buying this even though it was only like $15. If you are looking for a good alternative to Molecule 01, I recommend Oak City Beard Company ISO E Super, they offer it in both Eau de Parfum and Extrait concentration. It's very cheap and has a great sprayer in it. I usually buy the EDP and it's much stronger than Molecule 01.

Has a really soapy smell to it compared to Molecule 01 or Oak City Beard Iso E Super (which is my favorite dupe). It is really annoying to have that IES smell overpowered by this soar, pepper, soapy smell. I would recommend buying the 50ml OCB version in extrait concentration for the same price, it might cost twice as much but still much cheaper the EM 01 and it's worth it for the higher concentration. Update: I am convinced this is a clone of Escentric 01 NOT Molecule 01, there are definitely some other notes present that give it a light musky, citrus, pepperiness. THOSE ARE THE NOTES OF ESCENTRIC 01!!!

No sé como definir este olor, pero es como oler la madera blanca del ceibo mezclado con unas gotas de limón mas la transpiración debajo del seno de una dama que se ha duchado hace una hora, pero hace calor y por eso transpira con el olor de su piel limpia. Nada desagradable. Probé layering con algunos EDT de poca duración y no les alarga la vida en nada. Otra fragancia para después de la ducha y a dormir. Otro perfume para bebés.

I had to make an account to review this perfume Ugh, i have the original molecule 01 and it smells amazing ( creamy musky) and this one smells kinda odd to me. Yes it dose giving the pencil saving vibes but just it. Not thing else and it gives me headaches. Do not recommend!!

Nose Note #759 Hard to describe the scent. It's a vague woody and spicy scent. Smells great, but sillage is nonexistent. Hard to judge the performance too, because you can hardly pick it up. 7.5/10, still a cool scent

I have this fragrance for almost 2 years, and unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. While it definitely has a distinct scent, I find it challenging to describe. It has an alcohol-like quality, yet it doesn't quite smell like alcohol. There's a hint of leather, but it doesn't fully capture that essence either. When I applied it to my skin and attempted to layer it with other fragrances, I ended up muddling the scents instead of enhancing them. The longevity of the fragrance is impressive, but the aroma itself is not particularly pleasant—it reminds me of sweat, which is not what I look for in a fragrance. In hindsight, I feel like I wasted $19 on this purchase. Perhaps I should have opted for Monocline 02 (Ambroxan) instead. At least I didn't spend the full $120 on the original Molecule 01 bottle. Interestingly, the scent evokes the smell of a new basketball—it's reminiscent of rubber, but not exactly that. I liken Iso E Super to monosodium glutamate in food; it doesn't have a standout flavor, but it adds a certain depth that is hard to pinpoint. Overall, this fragrance just didn't resonate with me.

Smells like black pepper and Witch Hazel. I'll have to experiment with layering to see if it does anything but on it's own, I think it's useless.

Linalool, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene, Carboxaldehyde, Geraniol, Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Farnesol, Benzyl Salicylate, Benzyl Alcohol. it is clearly not just alcohol and Iso E Super. plus Butylphenyl Methylpropional and Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde (Lily-of-the-Valley ingredients) are supposed to be banned in the UK for reproductive toxicity and high rates of dermatitis. nooo thank you. you can find plenty of enthusiastic and highly rated independent perfumers selling Iso E Super fragrances on ebay

Blind bought. Haven't tried Escentric 01 to compare, but this was bad. God rid of my bottle. Wore this two times, and was not bad when I smelled it for the first hour or two - nothing stellar, just okay-ish. Problem is that after a while, this soapy synthetic smell started getting to me, smelling very cheap and not pleasant, to the point that for the next several days after wearing this, a thought of wearing ANY fragrance was revolting. I assume it's not Iso E Super, because I love many other IES-heavy fragrances. That unpleasant scent stayed in the room I sprayed it in for two days, so I guess longevity is good.

fear not my child i am here to save you from going through all the stupid reviews here by actually addressing the two things you want to know 1. No this doesn't smell like molecule 01 at all. meaning this won't replace it. trying or getting this one won't equal trying the other at all they're very different 2. this didn't enhance perfumes when layered with them in any way. infact it actually suppressed them, it significantly lowered their projection and longevity verdict. don't get this its not worth it even at 15$

Don't waste your money even if it's less than $25

This is a light woody musky scent. It's quite nice and would work best in daytime situations from spring through fall. I've never tried Molecule 01 before, so I can't compare. I have tested this extensively and layered this with several different fragrances to see how it works as a base. And, I'm actually back to report my findings (how many people on Fragrantica say they'll come back after testing and you never see them again?). As far as performance is concerned, I didn't notice a big difference in projection but there was a slight boost in longevity. Just a little bit. What I did notice the most was the change in scent. Whatever I layered this with, had a soft woody musky scent added to it. As you might expect. But the result was really nice. Some fragrances didn't work well; they didn't smell better with this layered. However, most of them became fuller, had more body, after spraying them on top of Monocline 01. I didn't have high expectations at first, but now I sure am impressed with this. I got it online and delivered for $12. What a value.

I am pretty sure Monocline 01 is a clone of Escentric 01. The design on the back of the bottle is very similiar to the design of Escentric 01. Just a heads up before anyone buys this expecting it to be a pure Iso E Super scent. The scent itself is very sharp and peppery to my nose and not what I expected at all. If is quite linear but gets softer while the scent develops. It is defenitely not the barely noticeable clean scent I expected, but I like it for what it is.

Beautiful, unisex, sits close to the skin. Perfect for those who appreciate an understated scent, it is never offensive to my nose. Could be a soft bedtime scent or even worn at the office. Any season and in reality nearly any occasion.

I personally love this one and wear it pretty frequently. I like the peppery punch after it dries down. It lasts all day day and smells so wonderful and strange. Definitely one of my favorites in my (small) collection!
