Perseus Exclusif

I believe MH threw something together so quickly thinking it’d do, without ever realising how good they did. Yes, it’s $25. Yes, it doesn’t last as long as the original. Yes, the notes feel a little bit dirty. But, fuck me, this is probably the best $25 10-minute mish-mash on the market. Buy a bottle.

Perseus Exclusif opens with a floral-spicy heliotrope, accentuated by a touch of pepper and cardamom. Subtle powdery essences add softness to the composition, keeping the fragrance from feeling too sharp or overwhelming. After a few minutes, sweet, almost gourmand almond notes emerge, balanced by a hint of lavender, introducing a sense of familiarity that veers the fragrance away from typical Middle Eastern compositions, grounding the sweetness with a clean, herbal twist. The deep drydown reveals a comforting, woody-vanilla base that smoothly blends with the preceding notes. While the earlier accords remain detectable, they gradually give way to the dominant drydown over time. Ambergris is subtle but undeniably present, adding a sensual, almost salty depth. The fragrance boasts good longevity and slightly above-average sillage. The bottle is heavy, and its design is appealing and elegant, featuring a matte finish, though the cap feels somewhat cheap. The presence of lavender nudges the fragrance toward a more masculine profile. It bears a strong resemblance to Armaf Craze, though it feels more serious, mature, and has a more pronounced woody character. In contrast, Armaf Craze leans toward a greener vanilla tone. The similarity between the two is significant enough that choosing one would suffice. There is also a slight resemblance to Detour Noir, likely due to the shared lavender note. While it may not be the most groundbreaking fragrance, it is undeniably pleasant and enjoyable. I purchased it for €13 and believe its value is exactly that. If you're a fan of almond-heavy, nutty scents, it's worth considering, and I highly recommend it for such case — it excels in that regard. I wish it had some oud, though, just like the fragrance it tries to copy. This one is a very good fragrance. I have bought the Perseus version too, the silver bottle. This is a bit more masculine somewhat like a mix of Sauvage and Perseus. You have some OUD right at the beginning which can be a bit overwhelming, not bad Oud but some woodiness is there, but then you also have the spices and the Almond and Sweet like vanilla. A bit floral too that tone it down like 5% not much. It smells very good for the price and more masculino than the regular Perseus, I like it. Again for the Price you really get some of the PDM DNA for a wonderful cost. Projection is good even better than Perseus, it has that oud that lasts long. 7-8h with 2 or 3 sprays. I didn't get some many compliments with this as I get with regular Perseus. Maybe because women tend to find sweeter fragrances more appealing, but I have asked their opinion and they say this one smells more sexy and masculine. It isn't maybe perfect but it's very good. Sillage is also moderate you could overspray and get noticed but the oud may be too much for some people. Could be used in the office if sprayed with moderation. Overall 7.5/10 Wonderful price, good performance, unique smell, not many will wear something like this. Also not really blind buy safe, Only like 70% if you enjoy woodiness and bitter Almond. It also has a sweet touch to it, but a mature side too. Again, Very good fragrance for the price. If Perseus is a white color worker that fills the nose in a Strip Club, this is the 40/50+ Boss that does exactly the same but has a more Mature attitude and likes to smoke cigars and seat in the Back. A Deeper Woody Almond, still with a very light sweetness to it. Although the deeper part it can also smell like a classic Dark wood drawer/wardrobe, that woodiness is a bit like it being closed having stale air and just open it.

I have no chance to smell the OG, so I will only tell this one itself. When I got this one about a year a go, initially, I remember I don't like it at all. Till now, I revisit this bottle, I felt like it really smells good. I assume this line will be like this weak performance, however, thinking about to collect them now.

#959 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This isn't bad, but it's not a believable clone of Pegasus Exclusif. I would probably like this better if I weren't comparing it to Pegasus Exclusif. Disappointing because Perseus, a clone of original Pegasus, was dead on. The woodiness here comes across as that cheap cedar pencil shavings so many cheapies have (Franck Olivier scents like "Amber" come to mind), totlally unlike the dark richness of the combined agarwood and guaiac notes in Pegasus Exclusif. A half hour in the pencil shavings is all you get. I would wear Armaf's Pegasus clone "Craze" before I'd wear this. Craze also doesn't have the dark woodiness of Pegasus Exclusif, more like original Pegasus' very vanillic character, but it's better than this. Still, I'm going to shelve this a few months and see if it improves, but for now I can't recommend this as a good clone of Pegasus Exclusif.

I didn't like this. It was too dirty and nothing felt refined. I know it's a cheapie, but we've seen cheapies with great quality. This didn't feel like it had it.

When I wore this, my wife asked me if I killed an insect with my bare hands. Yes, it does smell like a smashed 5cm insect. No almonds, no sweetness here. Just you and your pancake cucaracha!

Side note: ...and Parfums de Marly named a fragrance after this? That's what you call a full circle!! LOL
