#81 of My Fragrance Journey - Maison Alhambra Porto Neroli: The White Linen Lie It shouldn’t smell this good. That was my first reaction. Not poetic. Not dramatic. Just confusion. You spray it and your brain kind of glitches for a second because the smell and the price tag don’t line up. Neroli straight away. Bright. Slightly bitter. That clean, almost fizzy citrus-floral glow. Bitter orange underneath, warm and a little sun-drenched. White florals weaving through it - not heavy, not indolic, just luminous. It smells like pressed linen in sunlight. Like you’ve just stepped out of cold water onto warm stone. It smells like money. Or at least like someone who spends the summer near it. And yes - it’s clearly riffing on Neroli Portofino. We all know that. No point pretending otherwise. But here’s the part that surprised me: it actually pulls it off. But here’s the part people don’t mention enough. Out of the box? It can be sharp. A bit synthetic around the edges. The first spray might make you hesitate. There’s a bite to it that doesn’t match the smooth Mediterranean fantasy the bottle’s selling. Don’t judge it too quickly. I left mine alone for a few weeks. Drawer. Cool. Forgotten. When I came back to it - different fragrance. Rounder. Softer. The citrus had settled. The florals felt more blended, less jagged. It stopped trying to prove itself and just... worked. Maceration isn’t marketing fluff here. It genuinely helps. In heat - real heat - this thing shines. Humid air, warm skin, post-walk, post-gym. Midday sun bouncing off the pavement. It doesn’t collapse. It doesn’t go sour. It stays crisp and luminous. That expensive-soap aura just holds steady while everything else melts. On warm skin, it blooms instead of burning. That’s rarer than it should be. Performance is moderate. Let’s be honest. It’s not beast mode. A few solid hours of presence, then it sits closer. But at this price? You can spray properly. Two turns into four without guilt. And that changes the experience. You’re not rationing. You’re wearing it. There’s freedom in that. It’s not complex. It doesn’t evolve dramatically. What you smell in the first hour is essentially the story. But it tells that story well. Neroli. Light. Clean skin. Ease. It smells like a white tee that fits perfectly. Like you planned to look effortless and accidentally succeeded. There’s something quietly confident about it. The kind of clean that feels chosen, not default. Not sterile. Not a hotel lobby. More... curated summer. Is it groundbreaking? No. Is it enjoyable? Absolutely. Just give it time. The bottle you open isn’t the bottle it becomes. Maison Alhambra Porto Neroli is a must buy. It is a blatant knock-off of Tom Ford Neroli Portofino in bottle design and from what I understand, they discontinued it in its current packaging if not the fragrance entirely. I hope it isn't discontinued outright because Porto Neroli is a problem. I own several neroli forward fragrances. I own Ferrari Bright Neroli, Le Male Pride (2022), Just Jack Neroli and Dunhill Icon. Dunhill Icon is the one out of this pack that is a bit more. When I say that, Icon goes very very woody and unique. Like Porto Neroli, Just Jack's Neroli is a blatant clone of Neroli Portofino. I do not know the note breakdown of Neroli, but it is cheap compared to Porto Neroli. I do not know what it is, but Just Jack's smells more synthetic, especially off first blast. Porto Neroli and Le Male Pride are both smoother. Bright Neroli while not being as synthetic has a bit of a sharp bitter orange note that can be slightly off-putting. Porto Neroli however is a great mix of neroli, citrus and jasmine up top. My comparison, Le Male Pride has a mix of yuzu and blood orange while Porto Neroli has lemon and orange with a slight bright orange. I find Porto Neroli more of an aquatic scent than the rest of my Neroli fragrances due to the pleasant sea salt. I wonder if it is because of the sea salt in the mid. There is also some good lavender to it too. The base is mostly amber and herbal notes. In performance, I think on Pride is in a better spot but slightly. Porto Neroli wears like an Eau de Parfum and lasts like it. I actually have mixed it with sprays of Just Jack Neroli behind my ears so there less of the abrasive smell from it. Overall it is amazing. Porto Neroli gets an 8.4 out of 10 from me. Added aquatic to neroli in a way I never thought I needed in my life. If Lattafa doesn't bring this back in some way, I will be let down.

*****Edit***** Ya know, our fellow frag-head @esteban747 left some words for us a few comments down, and actually has a valid point! Sometimes we do go over board with the "Maceration thing" and we come off a bit "snobbish" acting like we're some sort of fragrance-connoisseurs/columnists or something. I myself am sometimes guilty of that and forget that Im talking about a freakin'$20 fragrance, LOL! Thing is, sometimes the changes that "maceration" brings are prrretty freakin' drastic, plus I actually value some of my "inexpensive clone" fragrances just as much as any of my top-notch, expensive designer/niche fragrances and therefore find that they're also worth "deep-diving" into regardless of price!😉, shoot, Maybe even MORE SO since the outrageously over priced OG's! Makes me feel like some of these High-end Designer/Niche brands got some splainin' ta do.. ya'll feel me?? Anyhow, yes! MH Porto Neroli's performance AND scent has definately improved since I purchased it back in June (I think it was June 🤔). The opening really smelled A LOT more like Lemon Pledge back then as compared to now. Also, the before almost non-existant Amber note has intensified for sure and I think is what toned down that "Lemon Pledge vibe". Longevity/projection has also imrproved kinda drastically. Now I get a good 6-7 hours where before I'd only get about 4 hours, 5 hours if I went HAM on the sprays, whereas now there's no need to "GO HAM", lol Im super glad Id waited bc I Like the scent so much, Id have emptied my bottle in NO TIME due to over-spraying. The change in scent profile and improvement with performance was VERY well worth the wait. Tbh tho, I'll still probably "over do it" bc I LOVE this scent and that Lemon Pledge opening is just about GONE! Thanks to whomever took the time to read my updated review!

Al haramain killed it with this scent and I will NEVER buy Neroli Portofino because of how great this is !!! This opens up very fresh,bright, but also very smooth and refreshing and gives me that fresh laundry by the stream type of vibe. As it dries down you this gets less bright and more rich and smooth ! Very simple but pleasant scent that’s perfect for casual or business casual events in the spring summer and actually smells more expensive than it is !!! In comparison to Neroli Portofino I’d say this is more green and I don’t get a semi-aquatic vibe with Porto Neroli. In comparison to 4711 this is definitely more modern,less floral and not as sharp and bright. I actually was hoping for something more similar to 4711 and this fits that bill perfectly !!! Performance- You get decent projection for 45 minutes before it quickly dies down to a skin scent. The longevity on this is actually impressive though !!! This lasts on my skin 8-12 hours but you will smell this randomly throughout the day when you move and people will smell this when you get close which makes it perfect for work. With this scent profile this performance is perfect as Neroli is great if it’s light and airy but if it’s thick it gives me a headache. However, if you want something strong I’d recommend Neroli Canvas !! Overall rating -8.5 out of 10 !!! Excellent smell that Will be a staple in my fragrance wardrobe for the summer months and I love 4711 but it’s not exactly reliable in terms of performance so this is a great replacement Sidenote- I saw some people saying this smelled similar to suntan lotion and the first 2 times I wore this I DID pick that up but after the bottle sat for a while that went away and I was left with a better more modern version of 4711

Quick summary- truly excellent clone of Tom Ford that is similar in every way but way, way less expensive. Since this is not an overly complicated scent, GO WITH THIS DUPE and save $250! Significantly better than the Fragrance World clone. You know the scent as it's been done by so many houses, so I'll point out any differences. As evidence, I own both clones and tested them twice against each other for several hours and once against the OG which I have a decant. Maison Alhambra is a bit stronger on the orange, which makes it slightly less smooth than the original. But folks, we're splitting hairs on that because there is absolutely nothing edgy about the original, this dupe, of the Fragrance World (Neroli Riviera) version. FW version is more flowery, lighter, and more feminine but also weaker and less longevity- I had to really press my nose to my wrist after two hours and the blossom was barely there. For MA, the longevity and sillage are the same as the OG, which isn't great for any of the versions, frankly because there aren't many fragrances that have a natural neroli or light citrus scent that go long. With truly interesting and complex scents, the original is so often hard to match, or it has beastly lasting power and thus justifies the expense, but here it does not! Especially with the silly price of this particular Tom Ford and the light nature of it.

Got this about 3/4 months ago, but forgot to give it a review. Anyways, its really beautiful after it starts to dry down for at least 5/10 minutes or so. Initially when sprayed it really smells like Lemon Pledge to my nose, but again after drying down a bit the beautiful lemony neroli begins to take shape. Its really fresh, clean and stunning! A classic scent that has honestly been in use in perfumery for ages, so I cannot call this unique at all. Still beautiful tho. I tried tho OG at Macy's and its really close if not one to one. Absolutely NO alchohol blast (impressive), and the performance isn't bad for a neroli fragrance. I get 4 mmmmaybe 5 hours if I "go ham" on the sprays, then its pretty much gone. Heard it actually performs better than the TF tho. Gorgeous scent, I can picture myself or anyone dressed in a white casual/dress shirt (or sundress for the ladies) at a Summer/Spring pool party, birthday party or outdoor casual wedding event or something of the sort. This is a "cherry on top" type of fragrance that will definitely make people remember you for smelling ultra clean and chic, again depending on the right situation. 8 outta 10 fragrance imo, woulda gotten a 9 if it weren't for the "meh" performance😏

That flowery neroli/citrus scent is within my top 5 favourite scent profiles. I love/hate 4711 due to its VERY poor longevity and love/hate TF NP due to its outrageous price and poor longevity. This bridges those gaps perfectly. This is the same sort of sharp citrus and flowery scent that you get from TFNP and 4711. Those that don't enjoy this sort of smell will say it's like a strong lemon cleaner. Performance, for what this is, is great at about 3-4ish hours tops. It will be loud and noticeable for the first couple hours. Clothes will do the heavy lifting in the final hour. I found both the new and old bottle versions very easily. This one seems popular as the price is slightly jacked up compared to the rest of this line regardless of where I looked. For me this is a great buy but then again this is a scent profile that I have loved since I was a kid first putting his nose to a bottle of 4711 ever so long ago. If you want an even longer lasting version then look to Al Haramain Portfolio Neroli Canvas. It will cost double+ the price and is only 75ml but it will net you a couple more hours from each use.

Review from someone who has been wearing this a lot over the summer : The opening is a little harsh and for the first 5 minutes does come across like a bathroom but.. after that is starts mellowing out and giving off a lovely bitter and floral scent. It is amazing in summer as it is not an overpowering scent and clawing but leaves a delicate scent trail everywhere I go. I have had many compliments on this one. The scent is definitely Unisex with maybe a slight inclination towards feminine due to the white florals but this is easily worn by Men. Recommend to spray about 8 times to get the 6-8h longevity. Whilst Sillage doesn't appear that strong directly to my nose, I have had my girlfriend be able to smell me from a couple meters away even after spraying on hours before hand. Clean and Fresh scent that makes me want to smell my wrist ever couple minutes. Soothing and Delicate! 8.5/10 - Not point buying the Original when this is better once the first 5 minutes of bathroom smell goes away. Try this : Spray a little bit on freshly changed bedsheets. You will have the most calm sleep that night.

What's the best part of this fragrance? It smells like a memory. And for me, that's what I'm looking for in a fragrance. I want to create feelings. And this one takes me back to a time when you went to the pool every day, you played outside for hours on end, to a time when the air was fresh and the sun was almost comforting. I cannot say how close it is to the TF because your girl is broke--BUT I can say you won't be disappointed. It's a great white floral with that high end sunscreen (in the BEST way) and citrus vibes. I live in the south so the longevity depends on how quickly I sweat it off. But if I wear it in the office, easily lasts 6 plus hours then turns to the perfect skin scent. Don't sleep, just buy. Especially if enjoy white florals. I should mention this: my husband HATES this smell. He says I smell like an old lady--I still love it!

This cologne smells amazing, I’ve never smelled a Tom ford fragrance but if they smell like this I’ll spend as much as needed. The first time I smelled it it smelled like orange flavored fruit loops with a little bit of floral notes, now this may sound like a women’s fragrance but it’s actually quite masculine. The longevity is pretty moderate and I get about 5 hours on skin. The sillage is very weak but I also don’t like spraying a lot. The overall smell is so good and I wish the performance was better. The smell is like a sour orange, fruit loops and a very dominant floral note. The bottle is a clone which isn’t my favorite but it’s kind of ok. Overall this is a good cologne that I would buy again. Longevity 6/10 Sillage 4/10 Smell 9/10 Bottle 5/10 Blind buy safe 9.5/10 Overall 8.5/10

Love it. It's basically 4711 and I couldn't be happier. Smells like the OG TF IMO. I have loved 4711 since I was a young girl in Queensland, Australia, in the 80s. Even My grandma and grandad would splash it on after their shower. I always lined up for my share, too. We'd sit there watching the 6pm news on a hot summers evening, eating fish and chips served on butchers paper. After dinner we would pick a mango off the tree. We would sit there with remnants of tomato sauce, salt, vinegar and mango juice running down our arms and faces, while the scent of 4711 hung in the humid air. When I wear this, I am taken back to those days. I lost my grandad in the late 90s and my grandma in 2007. By wearing this, I keep these memories alive. Not just for me, but for my brothers, too. .

I got mine before the news of discontinuation so I paid like $20. But people are paying $40+ for it and they are happy... that kind of sucks because when Alhambra rebottles this juice they may retail price it for more because of today's price due to hype of DC. I would not pay $40 or even $30 for this fragrance because I choose not to. The fragrance itself is great, it smells great. That cool aquatic, soft white floral is amazing and puts you in a good, uplifting mood. Performance is average. Which is not surprising because of the scent profile. Alternatives are 4711, Nikos Sculpture and Versace Dreamer. But there is a good chance that Alhambra will re-bottle this fragrance so dont buy a backup bottle for $40+..

Put on at 6:40 am (8 sprays) and could still smell it at 5pm, barely tho. Projects 1-2 hours. Amazing scent, my girlfriend loved it on me. Idk how to describe the scent but imagine the smell of sunscreen spray that you spray at the beach or pool, but in the sexiest way possible. I have to admit the fragrance was quite weird to me, it had to grow on me but I love it because nothing in my collection smells remotely close to this. I thought it was a unisex fragrance, but after asking a few people to smell it on me, they said it leans a bit more male. I haven't smelt the original but for 30 bucks this is definitely worth it. I heard its being discontinued so buy now when you still can.

I had low expectations of this fragrance and didn't want to buy it, but found it for a deal I couldn't pass. That said, it's a total win in terms of scent profile, quality, and performance. It smells exactly how I thought it would; crisp, refreshing, and uplifting. I was expecting 2 or 3 hours of longevity but got at least double that on skin. I sprayed some of my t-shirt and I could smell it 24 hours later, granted that I only wore that t-shirt indoors, so make of that what you will. The projection is mild, which is expected for this scent profile and price point. This is a great pickup if you're looking for a Neroli Portofino clone/interpretation, or a neroli scent in general.

I got a sample of the OG to compare side by side with this one and it really is pretty much a 1:1 clone. The only difference is that this has a bit of a synthetic, harsher quality about it that the TF doesn't - smelling this on your skin is like sniffing a freshly opened soda can, and smelling the TF is like sniffing a soda can thats been open for a few hours. But on the flip side, I'm pretty sure that added static-y synthetic bit is what makes this perform so much better. This smells amazing in the summer breeze, like the most luxurious fabric softener. It's not really sexy or super masculine or anything but it is definitely the scent of a luxury coastal vacation.

I was introduced to Porto Neroli by a wonderful friend and fragrance enthusiast. I enjoy the 'clean', fresh and bright aspect of this scent when I wear it on its own. But when I layer it with Philos Rosso by Maison Alhambra, it transforms into a beautiful, sweet, and feminine fragrance that has quickly become one of my favourite combos in my collection. Update: 07/11/2025 I decluttered Philos Rosso, so now I’ll experiment to see what works best to add some sweetness to an otherwise enjoyable fragrance. I’m curious to see what layers well with it—maybe something creamy or with light vanilla to soften the sharpness without taking away its fresh character.

I love this scent. Clean and delightful - fresh citrus and white florals. Have had it since last Fall and it's been a favorite through Spring & Summertime. I'm fine with only moderate projection, especially at the insanely low price. Have often found myself wishing it lasted longer, though. Which brings me to Portfolio Neroli Canvas from Al Haramain. A very similar scent, perhaps a hair more masculine. Stronger juice with better projection, and it lasts easily twice as long on my skin as Porto Neroli. Of course, it costs twice as much too, but to me it's worth the extra. IMO still a bargain at $49.

Barbershop scent. It smelled familiar to me upon first smell, but I couldn't put my finger on it until I realised it's that of a barbershop spray. Green, slightly citrus and bitter. I sprayed one spray on the inside of my elbow before putting on a shirt for work. Around 8 hours later the scent is still pretty strong. I could smell it coming through my shirt all day. It doesn't seem particularly strong in terms of projection. This is quite an old fashion scent I feel and not something I would trust to wear.

i’ve owned this fragrance for about a year now. straight out the box, i hated it. all i got was florals and neroli. smelled like straight sunscreen and not in a good way. instead of getting rid of it, i just forgot about it to be honest. the other day i noticed it in the back just gathering dust so i decided to give it another shot. now i love it, i can still smell plenty of neroli, but also get the citruses and other florals. maceration has definitely done its thing.

MA's Porto Neroli is one of the closest dupes to TF's Neroli Portofino! Opens with a slight hint of citrus, but the neroli profile takes over soon and stays there till the end. The drydown is identical to TF, despite any evolution. The longevity is similar to TF, which is around 4-5 hours. However, longevity will depend on your exposure to heat or wind, which will further deteriorate it. Any person who loves their cheap freshies must try it at least once!
