Signatures No II

Fragrantica is an interesting place sometimes. The number one upvoted similar fragrance for this is Red Tobacco, Red Tobacco is the number one upvoted similar fragrance to PDM Carlisle ... no one had voted this similar to Carlisle until I just added it. To me this is Carlisle, very very close. Less screechy in the opening than Red Tobacco and you can actually pick out some of the notes individually. I get more vanilla than in Red Tobacco which is also true of Carlisle. Someone else mentioned a sawdust quality which I also get but not as I first smell it on skin, it comes as I move my arm away from my nose like an after effect. I think it’s coming from the incense note and the spices as they dissipate from the senses. Carlisle is high on my all time favorites and I own/love Red Tobacco as well. If you’re in that camp you’ll love this although it’s probably redundant if you own Carlisle. If you only wanted one copy of Carlisle, I would buy this over Red Tobacco.

I can see the similarities with Exclusif Tabac, and now that ET is apparently discontinued, Signatures No.2 could be a very good substitute. The main differences I find are that Signatures 2 is not a projection beast as ET is, and it also lacks the brightness in the opening brought by the ginger note. Signatures 2 opening is a bit different, darker and resinous but in a good, pleasant way. You can feel the guaiac wood and a tiny bit of the oud in the opening. After about one hour, those dark notes fade away and you're left with a very pleasant smell which is 90% close to Exclusif Tabac. Just slightly more refined, discreet and toned down. In my personal preference, I would prefer ET over Signatures 2, just because I love the ripe peach smell that the osmanthus brings to ET. But Signatures 2 is not too far out, it's a great fragrance and an absolute steal for CAD $20. I can't compare it to Mancera's RT because I've never tried it.

The dry down smells exactly like cassius and similar to exclusif tabac. I love tobacco scents so I love this fragrance. Wish it was a 3.4oz and not a 1.7oz. 9.5/10. It's a red tobacco clone but definitely not as harsh and the opening is different. It's red tobacco with a twist.

What a strong scent. Harsh for the first 2 hours off my skin. Lots of dusty cinnamon, nutmeg and sandalwood. Saffron and incense are mixed with the start and as those fade to the back ground I get some vanilla, tobacco and patchouli. Overall for the price (don't pay more than $30 US imo) it is a safe blind buy to me. Be warned, it is strong and harsh in the start... Enjoy! Update: After over a year sitting on the shelf I hit the atomizer on this and it is MUCH better from start to finish. This needs to sit for several months before it smooths out, at least with my bottle. Really good and great for fall/winter... Enjoy!

6.5/10 Not many reviews are mentioning the OUD off the rip; it presents as very olivey, oudy on a test strip, but the notes play together more nicely on skin. It definitely gives that oud for the first couple hours then fades in the fresh cigarette tobacco notes then dries down into sweeter spices and more tobacco. Got this dirt cheap from a discounter ($12!) and I'm pretty happy with the purchase and think I can use this for layering oud and tabacco into other fragrances.

This was more an impulse than a blind buy after reading comments about the similarity to Carlisle. Only received it today but first spray was a blast of smoke & tobacco. I'll be patient for a few weeks and hope it changes. 2 days after purchase: Yes, the opening is still quite harsh but it becomes much more pleasant as it dries down.

Well, I might hate the DNS or the patchouli or both, I don't know. When it arrived, I loved the smell I was getting by smelling the atomizer. Then I sprayed it on my skin... About the scent profile... I would like to rewrite it: Top Notes: Patchouli Heart Notes: Used ash tray, Cheap and smelly paint Base Notes: Smelly indoor swimming pool, Chlorine, Rot Edit: It is nice and smoky sweet 4-5 hours after applying. But honestly, I don't want to wait 4-5 hours for a fragrance to become good.

Strong, pungent, stomach-churning and takes a longer time to settle than Red Tobacco. And when it does get to the dry-down it is less sweet, by some margin, than the Mancera. When smelled up close it has a sawdust graininess. Lasts more than 12 hours on skin. This made my head spin, and not in a good way. As much as I adore tobacco fragrances, this one is unfortunately not for me. Please test before buying. Excellent presentation. I like that 50ml. bottle and the box it comes in.

I love tobacco Perfumes but somehow this is super strong and a bit of annoying. Super longevity, definitely not a safe blind
