The Serpent is the back room of a forgotten alchemist's workshop, lit by the cold, greenish glow of a chemist's lamp. The air is dry, charged with static and intellect. It smells of old paper stained with tinctures, of polished marble slabs, and of a faint, metallic whisper. Like a dagger left to grow cold on a pewter dish. The note of saffron here is not golden warmth; it is the scent of rust and ancient parchment, a mineralic chill. The Emotion: Intellectual disquiet. Wearing The Serpent is like donning a tailored leather glove to examine artifacts of unknown origin. It is the scent of focused curiosity tinged with menace. It doesn't ask to be liked; it demands to be deciphered. It is Gothic romance in a bottle. Not the heroine, but the mysterious benefactor in the shadows. The compliment it garners isn't "you smell nice," but a slow, intrigued glance. It is power, of the cerebral and unsettling kind. **************************************************************************************************** The first thing I get from The Serpent by Maison Alhambra is leather ; thick, smooth, and slightly sweet, almost with a chocolatey patchouli vibe underneath. It feels rich but never loud, warm without turning heavy. The blend is surprisingly well balanced, with just the right amount of spice and amber to keep it interesting. As it dries down, the leather softens and the patchouli becomes creamier, giving the scent a cozy but refined feel. I believe there is some tamed down IsoButyl Quinoline, in this composition. Performance is solid, with good projection early on and a gentle fade that lasts nicely on skin. The Serpent feels elegantly modern, confident, and very wearable. A really well-done leather scent that manages to stay classy without trying too hard. Solid 8/10.

This is a delight to wear. For the more dark fragrances enjoyers this is a must. It starts with a very pungent kinda sweet but also very red very deep wine note, almost like a glass of very dry red wine falling on the ground. After that, the darkness begins, a smoky, industrial leather note, that covers you, that covers the room, you almost feel like you have been swallowed by it, covered in it's deep dark nuances, after that, the drydown is so different, the darkness goes away, you wake up in some cloth clothes, in the middle of the filed with a bunch of sheep around you, as this one becomes really animalic in the drydown. I ince sprayed it on a hoodie, 1 month and a half later i could still get a whiff of that animalic scent on my hoodie, it reminded me of the times I and my parents used to go in holidays tot the mountain where we would meet a bunch of sheeps, that is the vibe it gave me. Relaxing in an animalic way. The performance of this one is insane for the money you spend to get it, easy 12h+, on skin, and eternal on clothes. You have to wash them to change their smell, and sometimes even if you wash them, they will still smell like the serpent. The projection is good early on, anybody will sense you as this is a room filler, but, at the same time, everyone gets noseblind to it as this is really strong, so new people entering the room might be like: "ugh what smells like this in here?? It's horrible" as you really have to love those kinds of scents to appreciate it. For the price, i'd say it's one of the best perfumes ever. After maceration it becomes a bit sweeter, almost like a floral-sweet vetiver but it blends really well altoughtere.

Quite good, different and understated. Smells earthy but not in a gross way .. like soil, wood, bushes and clean fresh dry linen. Bit of a sweet opening and then becomes dry.... Not getting any spice It’s a fresh and clean almost aldehydic type scent. I can see how it might remind someone of what their grandpa used to wear but it’s on the fresh and maybe modern side not old vintage or cloying type way. Smells like someone has used the handwash at a posh establishment or used an expensive niche laundry soap. Wood note seems very prominent and quite linear, good to layer maybe ? Didn't experience any massive projection but has a good aura. Big staying power on clothes 2 + days. I sprayed it on a tester and left it in my foyer and noticed it when I would walk by.. it would make a good room spray As a female, I don't think it would be a compliment getter. I would dig it on a male. I don't know if I would wear it often or in my skin but I would be really happy to spray it on a coat or a leather jacket. Cannot compare it to Gucci Will come back in a few months when it macerates

I love this one and don't care if anyone else does. Totally wear it for just me. It is addictive to my nose and I sometimes think of this one when I am not wearing it lol. It is a floral oud with saffron to me. I can see where someone could say rose because it is absolutely a dark floral. I have smelled all the Gucci and own the heart of Leo which is my fav of those. I know this one is supposedly cloning The voice of the snake. I like this better than all the Gucci even heart of Leo which I also love.

this one was so much better and more original than I expected. it's a phenol and tar bomb, no doubt about that but that's what I love about it. it runs different to most of ouds out there. you are either gunna love this or hate this but if you are the woodsy kind of autumn person, it is like to be love. I do feel it was sent out before it was adequately aged and benefits from a few months sitting.

This is one unique blend from Maison Alhambra. The dominant saffron-tar-oud accord is incredibly three dimensional. An extremely dark fragrance for deep fall and winter days and nights. Definitely a mainly jus, though audacious ladies could pull this off, occasionally. This is a scent that will NOT pull compliments and as such should not be worn in public venues. Lovely!

This was weak when I first got it. 2 weeks later and it's got quite a bit better. Like most middle eastern clones it needs to mature. I really enjoy this stuff. There is much more going on here than the notes suggest listed. 9/10. Longevity and sillage are both great.

Yes, this is absolutely yes! I am in love with this. Dark, dense, spicy and a great scent for oud lovers. Well blended and slightly nutty with a leathery floral background. Perfect!!!

I love it. Its unique. Earthy and softly sour. Almost medicinal. Great scent. But the performance is not so good. I hope it gets better with time.

I would like to add that this smells very similar to jean lowe noir/ombre. They aren't identical but I'd say they're 75 percent similar.

I love this one but the duration is poor. It has a sweet patchouli almost fruity. This made me look for the original.

I just got my hands on The Serpent yesterday, and my immediate impression is that this is a bold, labdanum-heavy leather fragrance with an animalic edge. It features a distinct, almost "pissy" honey note that feels like a direct nod to the polarizing DNA of Dior’s Oud Ispahan. What makes this surprisingly well-balanced, though, is the underlying balsamic sweetness. Despite the weight of the earthy patchouli and the darker oud accord, the composition still breathes. There’s a delicate rose and a series of undocumented floral notes that weave their way through the leather-and-oud backbone, preventing the fragrance from becoming too suffocating or one-dimensional. As for the performance and evolution, I suspect this one is going to be a cold-weather powerhouse. I’m planning to tuck this away in a dark cabinet for a while to let it age; I have a feeling that once the weather cools down and the oils have had time to settle, this fragrance is really going to shine. If you’re a fan of those deep, resinous, and slightly skanky florals, this is an impressive, high-value interpretation of a very challenging profile. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those who appreciate a complex, balsamic leather, it’s a fascinating find. Lastly, this is what L'Oudh also by Maison Alhambra could not seem to achieve - balance and sophistication in pursuit of Dior's masterpiece.

It's a sophisticated floral and oud hybrid fragrance. It's a good blend of oud, fresh musk, spicy, soft leather and woody aromas. This is a simple yet very sophisticated aroma blend, quite elegant. It's great for formal occasion use and can be used by both sexes, though some women may find it leans too masculine due to the oud and musk. The musk is quite fresh but this may still remind younger users of fragrances that their fathers and maybe even grandfathers used -- looking at you, Jovan Musk -- that may not appeal to them. Certainly, this is best suited to older users and not younger ones. This is a sophisticated and elegant offering, but the musk and oud do have the potential to be polarizing to some noses so it takes confidence to wear. Great stuff if you can pull it off. Recommended.

Burnt rubber? Tar? Hospital? Wow, I must have gotten something different because this has absolutely nothing on those lines. This great perfume is an earthy, pretty sweet floral, saffrony western oud. The earthiness must come from the patchouli. The florals are pretty much roses, sweet dark red roses. Mixed with the saffron and a slightly animalic oud note make a wonderful fragrance to my nose. This is unisex leaning masculine to me. On the long drydown, the sweet rose floral fades away mostly, leaving some of the earthy patchouli but mostly the oud with a bit of animalic funkiness, but nothing crazy if you are used to oudy funkiness. Performance is very strong at first but I think it makes me go nose blind after some time. Spray easy on this one otherwise you will definitely cloud the room. On clothes it lasts an eternity and the animalic note is heightened notably on clothes. This perfume reminds me of Montale's Oud Edition, same profile if you've smelled that one. I haven't smelled the Gucci original so I can't compare there. But this is a very good fragrance on its own. I'll let this macerate to see how it changes with time. Update - I got to try the Gucci original and I can confidently say that they are pretty darn close from each other. Good job Maison Alhambra.

I purchased The Serpent, the Myth, and the Chant from Maison Alhambra in a moment of weakness after sniffing some similar expensive perfumes. Ahem. The Serpent is strong smelling, one spray on my arm lasted for more than 12 hours and still lingered after a shower so BE CAREFUL with this one. To my nose after dry down it mostly smells like wood and patchouli and really has extreme longevity. It isn't perfect, I might not wear this in the summer, but to be sure I love it and it was a great buy. The bottle and packaging is beautiful. I think this bottle will last a VERY long time. This is one of the longest lasting fragrances I have ever tried. I already know the Myth and the Chant will be slightly more wearable for me personally, but I would not discourage anyone from trying the Serpent. Post Edit -I have let this one go- I was never going to wear it. I thought about using it as room spray, but it gives like Game of Thrones bordello or church.

Hmm I was not expecting that strong leather accord that comes out almost like a hot diesel engine but I guess that’s the labdanum. This note prevails the whole journey, it made me feel like I spent hours working with some sort of diesel engine, a big one. I personally don’t mind the diesel note, although I am hoping after the juice matures it’ll become smoother. Right now that note is pretty prominent and comes across synthetic and a bit sharp. I don’t get a lot of oud but definitely picking up the dark patchouli almost chocolatey and some animalic nuances (maybe the oud lol ) . Incense is toned down but you can definitely smell it. This is not bad but all the inconsistencies and imbalances should be corrected after some time. I’ll wait few months and come back with an update.

The first spray is very intense. It comes across like a freshly processed leather jacket with some light florals. After a couple minutes the intensity comes down and we’re left with a more mellow and somber scent; like taking a walk through the woods after rainfall, wearing a fresh leather jacket, surrounded by some light florals. Very dark and gothy. Wouldn’t say this will be my daily since I don’t quite come across that way on a daily but it has its place for me. Unless u have a very bold and gothy vibe going 24/7 I wouldn’t say this is ideal. However, I will definitely wear this when I go out for events with my other goth friends as it has a very dark and mysterious vibe going for it

I've only just started wearing this scent so this is just a first impression. It is clearly oud, but it's not overwhelming like some. It is very dark with incense notes and a fruity floralness to it which reminds me of dried orange peel. It very much fits that dark gothic feel. This is very much an autumn scent in my opinion. I would call it unisex. It has a masculine woody darkness to it, but the fruity florals give it a feminine element. This probably isn't a blind buy, but as something called "the serpent" it does what it says on the tin.

I blind buy all my fragrances. When it just came, it was my first regret. But I changed my mind. I think I've learned to love weird, odd, extravagant, hard fragrances, and even the "bad" fragrances. What I cannot stand are those fragrances that don't have their own trait, teetering, oscilating in their goals. That's certainly not the case for The Serpent. I totally agree with Fallen_leaves review! It's the perfect description of this fragrance. I haven't smelled the original it's supposed to be a clone of.

This is the darkest and deepest scent i’ve ever smelled. The wood is just soooooo dark. It gives wise man who’s outside all the time. This is super in your face and not for most people so don’t expect it to be a giant compliment getter. It is probably my most beast mode scent, even longer lasting than ganymede and amouage interlude man. People who live in colder climates and wear leather jackets, maybe even do lots of outdoors stuff, this is absolutely for you.

Very Animalic, barnyard fragrance. Definitely not blind buy safe, but certainly not unpleasant to the right person. Smells like an old leather saddle. There's a right time, place and manner to wear this. I'm just not sure where and when that may be.

It reminds me of home, really incensy. I think it needs a little maturation, right now It smell really harsh. But after couple of minutes it gets smooth. I'll say it's 8.5 out of 10. I'll wait for it's maturation and then I'll update my review

Dark and heavy, in a dark and heavy bottle.This is oud. Not sharp, but as mentioned, dark and heavy. It smells quality. Strong performer. I do not understand where the reviewer below gets his or her rose. I do not detect it at all.

It has a very nice "HONEY" note, it makes a different of any other leather-frag I know. Good stuff if you are in leather frags. Elegant and dark a bit. - 7.5/10

Smells like a well-worn leather jacket and burnt flowers but in a good way. Also very potent so do be careful not to overspray.

I'd meant to buy "The Trail" for my bf bc it's supposed to smell like straight birch tar and I thought he'd love it...and I wound up with this one instead, which ALSO smells like straight birch tar/petroleum derivative I've never gotten "gasoline" notes from resinous wood fragrances, but this truly smells like an actual hot tractor engine ...and I kind of LIKE it! But I literally live on a cattle ranch in a farming community, so there's nowhere I can wear this in public locally without people getting genuinely concerned about the state of my tractor (Side note: it turns out that bf literally cannot smell patchouli, oud, or most woody scents...so he perceives this as a pleasant, gently spicy turmeric-saffron something. Maybe you will, too!) EDIT: I URGENTLY DISAVOW "I kind of like it". It's awful AND powerful. If you get even a drop of this on your linens, you will smell motor oil? bandaids? something dreadful for DAYS. It can't even be layered to make fluffy gourmands more complex, it will overpower everything in its proximity

Thought it was alright at first,but just too feminine for my taste...Bottle is insanely heavy and high quality...You could easily gift this to a lovely woman because of how good the packaging and presentation are

Oh wow a bomb of sweetness - No darkness acutally, just very strong

You pay for what you get in perfume. This barker's egg is a poor attempt at a dark and mysterious scent. It's composition is basic at best - a very simple structure which fails to excite. The way it is presented in a "special bag" within a stupidly massive box, makes it cheap and tacky. It smells like so many other dull leather-based perfumes that are out on the market, to the point where it is merely a crappy clone of better leathery perfumes. Made with what appears to be the bottom rung of perfume components, The Serpent will disappear in a couple of hours, like a bored teenager that has fled the scene of a fire it has started. I don't absolutely hate it, but I hardly ever wear it. I use it's black opaque bottle as a sunbeam guard; it is part of my "sun defence" perfumes, that are cheap and boring. The Serpent, and many more entry level perfumes, encircle the more beautiful items in my collection, so that the sun's rays cannot damage my better scents. 1/10. Don't waste your money on it.

Ooohhh my god the burning rubber tar smell that knocks your front teeth out is impossible to work around, it just smells like industrial waste to me. Worst dud I’ve ever blind bought, don’t let these good reviews fool you, maybe it’s down to inconsistent batches or maybe it needs more time in the bottle, either way, this juice is foul. I am a funky skanky oud lover, this doesn’t smell like oud, it’s a very tar asphalt roofing tar kinda smell. There are other nice notes mixed in but oh no I can’t with this it’s totally migraine inducing.

I love this bottle design and print. I had the scent strip card from the Gucci Counter of this but unfortunately the smell has dissipated on it so I can't get a proper 1:1 comparison. I can still tell though that they are similiar but not identical. Gucci seems softer, more feminine and lighter while the serpent is darker, more masculine and is less complex but only in comparison to Guccis. This fragrance is beast mode and NOT for the faint of heart. It is ROUGH, loud, strong and very veryyyyy dark. My partner hates it which is hilarious because its one of my favourites. It makes his throat itch/hurt so I have to wear very infrequently 😭 This is the kind of perfume that smells like a witches hut in a forest that has bushes that smell medicinally Herby. This witch used the dried twigs of this bush as kindling in her firepit for many moons and the fire would always intensify this herbal plant smell ten fold which eventually impregnated the wood of all the pine trees around the area. Now imagine you have just stumbled on this hut and firepit after a heavy rain and can smell the medicinal plant in the pine trees mixed with the medicinal plant in the wet fireplace. This is how I imagine it would smell in the mansion grounds of Resident Evil Origins.

I'm basically just getting moderately-jammy rose and inky oud from this. Smells 90% similar to LV Les Sables Roses, but a bit less inky (still inky tho) and a bit less jammy rose (still jammy tho). A few people also get rose and oud with the OG Gucci, based on the reviews. And yes I'm aware that there's no listed rose note on this or the OG Gucci. Anyway, this doesn't smell pleasant. I also don't like LV Les Sables Roses either (although I don't mind its sibling Ombre Nomade, which is Les Sables Roses + mild leather). I don't like this inky style of rose-oud, which I've noticed in a few fragrances. Of the straight-forward rose-ouds I've smelt, I love MFK Oud Satin Mood and Tom Ford Noir de Noir. I like LV Matiere Noir and Dior Gris Dior. I mildly-like LV Ombre Nomade and Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady. I actually mildly-dislike LV Les Sables Roses, Tom Ford Oud Voyager, and this Maison Alhambra The Serpent, which are all very similar with their jammy rose and inky oud. MFK OSM is still the most appealing oud-rose I've smelt --delicious and opulent-- and the Fragrance World, Maison Alhambra, and Zimaya clones are 1:1 on smell with beastly performance.

This is no where near as dark or crazy as people make out. I was expecting a super dry Oud (similar to Oud Imperial by Perris Monte Carlo) but didn't get that at all (I prefer this by the way). I get Oud and Leather on the opening with a slight Saffron sweetness/floral. In the dry down the leather takes a back seat, and you're left with Oud, Patchouli, Saffron and Musk. It does have a "darkness" to it, but I think something like Black Afghano much darker and gothic. Overall I really like it and think it is quite unique and good performance!

I Just purchased This today , because I checked the voice of Snake in Selfridge in London , when I tested I can't smell anything on the original, I sprayed hell lot of time but nothing I can smell, but the Serpent from Maison Alhambra Smells to me exactly like oud marcuja and azzure oud from french avenue. Full roses smell , hope it is for women I think. I buyed this in a hype because I loved the trail from Maison Al hambra. But really wonderfull from Maison Alhambra I respect them a lot.

Smells exactly like something my grandpa used to wear...now im thinking if gucci got inspired from those arab perfume oils because my grandpa always used those....i donno if i want this scent on me as i have grew up knowing this to be the cheapest perfume out there now it has become a high end scent but doesn't really change anything...can be enjoyed by someone who likes dark scents

Long lasting and almost exactly the same as Gucci's Voice of Snake. Its got little more oud in it. Lasts all day and perhaps 2 days on clothes. Some might find the oud a little over powering/harsh/synthetic at first, but the dry down is good.

This is a leather jacket that was doused with tar and then accidentally set to fire. Beautiful bold and realistic scent. I would wear this in colder weather as this fragrance reflects the gloomy rainy moods.

This is a very good rose oud fragrance on its own. Similar to Rasasi Fawat Lil Rijal. But it is not similar to Gucci voice of the snake.. that one is more woody and has way more depth and less florals.
