Cloudbreath

I kept getting ads for this back in spring-summer 2025 before this scent even had a Fragrantica entry and broke my own "no blind buys and definitely not something with no reviews" rule over it. This isn't a frag I reach for often, but I pull nonstop compliments when I do. This is what I thought clouds smelled like when I was a kid. Namely, the big, purple-pink cotton candy clouds you see around sunset. There's definitely a twilight vibe to this, a dreamy liminality (I know that word has been beaten to death by the internet but stay with me) that's soothing, and it evokes this weird nostalgia for me. This smells like falling asleep in the car and waking up in your childhood bedroom: that moment of dreamy confusion but still knowing you're somewhere safe. A lot of fan favorite "cozy" frags turn smothering and vaguely nauseating on me, but this is SO light and SO soft. If I had to discuss specifics and not just ~vibes~, it's an expertly blended vanilla-violet-iris hug, with lychee keeping it sparkly and light. God I want to eat the vanilla here. It's not the sticky, gourmand frosting vanilla, and it's not the more woody vanilla bean extract vanilla, but what it is is DELICIOUS. The tonka note- which was my least favorite part of the frag, it pulled screechy sometimes and didn't play nicely with the lychee imho- has faded with some maceration. This is 100% a year-round, day and night frag with great projection and staying power. Leans fem but I could see a dude rocking this esp as a layering deal. I've yet to check out other things from this brand, but every time I wear Cloudbreath I want to 👀

Literally akin to the breath of angels. I mean, that’s hyperbolic AF, but honestly the juice is some kind of special, friends. The iris and lychee come out sturdy on their feet, confident — swiftly sweet but not shrieky. Anything sharp and tangy about the iris/violet/lychee combo is mellowed by the lulling vanilla, Tonka and malted cream. The brand lists “your last great kiss” as a base note, and while I occasionally react to note descriptions like that with half amusement and half cringe, I’m going to say that they kind of nailed the feeling it stirs. The iris and violet sort of sink their claws in and hang from your skin for the next couple hours like a cat from a branch, but the softness of malt and tonka are always right there waiting to catch them. It’s a really elegant and unique roster of accords that play well together under the direction of masterful blending.

get the Dama Bianca comparison I’ve seen others mention, but Cloudbreath goes beyond—it’s richer, creamier, and simply has more depth. The drydown is especially stunning: malted cream wrapped in soft, airy vanilla that lingers like a warm whisper. I’m completely in love. I’m usually picky about iris—it often reads too sharp or powdery on me—but here, it’s soft, pillowy, and seamlessly blended. The opening is floral and sweet, with delicate violet and juicy lychee adding a light, elegant lift. But this isn’t a fluffy floral or a typical gourmand. It’s just right. Sweet, but never juvenile. Creamy, but not overly edible. Floral, but in the softest, most modern way. The sandalwood, tonka, and vanilla create a warm, comforting base that gives the whole composition a serene glow. It’s effortlessly beautiful. Soft, elegant, and completely addictive. 10/10.

I only get small whiffs of violet from this, which is great for me because violet isn’t one of my favorite notes. But iris sure is. This is a beautiful, fluffy, creamy iris floating on a cloud of musky vanilla. It’s airy, and never feels dense or cloying. The fruity fresh opening lasts a good while before going into the iris heavy, cuddly drydown with malted cream. Delicious, and gourmand adjacent in my opinion. I don’t find the iris to be powdery or dusty, and not much development besides that lychee beginning. Longevity is well above average and it mostly sits close to the skin, but projects a bit for the first hour or so. Feels like an extrait to me. Truly impressed with everything from this house so far.

Crowd favorite among my friends, but I haven't had anyone say they dislike anything I've shared from MdA. This one is like a fluffy, sweet slice of heaven around you! Not cloying, not too quiet...just right for any occasion from a chill outing, a soecial outing, to a normal day at work or school. Chef's kiss. Muah muah.

This is my favorite! Hands down my number one girl!! Sharp violets mixed with vanilla. When I wear Cloud Breath I feel as if I am walking on clouds. She doesn’t last as long as some of the deeper fragrances in their line but oh my goodness...she is worth the refresh!

My 1st love from this gem of an Indie house! Light and sweet is not easy to do and Cloudbreath does it so well. A true skin scent to me, this sits softly on my wrist all day. I don’t have to reapply, but I do, I can’t help myself! I find this to be so comforting!!!

To my nose, this is a slightly creamier version of Dama Bianca, which I already own. Dama Bianca seems to last longer as well, so I don’t need to add this to my collection, but I do really like it.

This is so dreamy. Very unique, yet I don’t see how anyone could not like this. Like all of the scents from this house, the staying power is eternal.

I really need to stop buying these testers. I don't need more perfume and especially violet based ones, but this one hits different. Mmmmmm ♥ Lovely

Three words. Iris bubble bath. 20/10

It is starting to appear as if Maison des Animaux is a sort of a dupe house and if so, I have to say, they are doing it right. To me this is a more “natural” version of Dama Bianca. I really like DB, but there is something that my nose perceives as “synthetic” or too powdery in it that keeps me from reaching for it. This is far more wearable for me.

There's an immediate explosion of sweet-tart lychee on the first spray, which isn't quite my thing. But once the alcohol evaporates, the lychee mostly does too, and Cloudbreath develops into a confectionary violet (which I imagine is actually the orris butter) backed up with lovely dry tonka and sandalwood that keeps it from being too much like candy. Little puffs of sweet-tart under the violet make occasional appearances as I wear it for about an hour. White floral and super sweet fruity scents really, really aren't my thing, so I'm glad that the way it's wearing on me is reinforcing the elements I was hoping for in this scent. The tonka and sandalwood fade over and hour or two, and the violet lingers for quite a while. I find this kind of ungrounded, though, which is kind of implied with the website copy. I feel like layering this with a touch of a darker musk, or iso-e super (like Commodity Paper), would really kick it up quite a bit for me. As it is, it's like a beautiful choux pastry puff, decorated with sugared violets—but there's no actual pastry cream inside. It's all air.

This was one of my most anticipated samples in my discovery set, but I didn't love this. To be fair, I also didn't love Dama Bianca and find this one to be slightly better on my skin. Ultimately, it's not for me - I think I just don't like violet.

A fluffy and powdery soft floral. I tried to get myself to like it, I really did. But its just SO powdery that I couldn't do it. It definitely captures the feeling of fluffiness but the powdery quality it's what overpowers the fragrance to me. It reminds me of a lighter and more modern grandma perfume. Or like a beauty powder you'd find in her bathroom. I also didn't get any vanilla unfortunately. I don't think it's horrible, but definitely not for me.
