Mousse au cafe

Now I see why this house exhorts (combina!) wearers to combine their three gourmand perfumes. They all appear to share the same base, so they are definitely compatible. The openings are very different and in the case of Mousse au Café, the appealing bitter coffee bean note is unfortunately quite short-lived, so much so that I cannot really claim that this is a coffee perfume. It opens as a coffee perfume, but the coffee scent acts as a top note which peels off, leaving behind the mousse--a sweetish clean musk sandalwood with the same texture and similar scent as the drydowns of Gourmandise and Poudre. These perfumes are unquestionably compatible, so anyone who owns more than one can combine them and see for themselves, but for me the base of the members of this trio is very similar and so it might not matter much after the opening minutes which particular perfume one wears. The quality of these creations seems good, so I would recommend them for testing by those who love sweet gourmand scents. If you do not like vanilla and overtly sweet perfumes, then you will not like this house. At the Maison des Rêves, the dreams are all sweet!

I am still looking for a lovely coffee alternative to a somewhat expensive Bond' New Haarlem. Mousse au Cafe is pretty much what is says on the package. It starts a bit bitter, like a punch of espresso, dark, strong coffee you sometimes need in the morning Then with a tiny touch of sweet milk, it becomes more tender. Gradually, the scent becomes sweeter and more 'round', with the cream and vanilla; it is no longer the espresso, but a coffee and cream dessert. It is nice, but not remarkable. My only problem is that it does not last very long, an hour on my skin and it is gone.
