Amyris Homme Extrait de Parfum

I recently purchased samples of both Amyris Homme EDT and Amyris Extrait and immediately was captivated by both fragrances. I was not sure which to get: some say that the EDT is too much like designer scents while others say the Extrait is not as versatile. So I tested both side by side and this is what I found: The EDT is a fine fine scent, but seems like a cross between Chanel Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and Parfums de Marly Carlisle, although lighter than the latter. It has the fresh mandarin opening and tonka bean of the Chanel, while replacing the mint of the Chanel with rosemary. This green note + tonka bean gives the impression of tobacco at times (as it does in Carlisle with green apple + tonka). The tonka also gives off faint impressions of mocha as it does in Carlisle. It is a lighter scent in body, almost designer-like, but has a unique character that sets it apart. The freshness goes away after an hour and seems to be replaced with a kind of chocolate tobacco with ambroxan smell, which gives a sweet transparent airiness. Ambroxan is not listed for the EDT, but Oud is - I really doubt there is oud here, but could be ambroxan used as a fixative. Similar ambroxan vibe to Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP. I still love this perfume but it is not heavy enough for cold weather and not bright enough for summer. It would be perfect in a controlled climate office - different enough to get you noticed, but mass appealing enough to be inoffensive. The extrait opens in an identical manner. Side by side this smelled the same as the EDT for the first 10 minutes after which the rosemary of the EDT became noticeable while the extract started to set itself apart by seeming cleaner and more bright. It was also much stronger, so smelling the extract first and going to the EDT I could hardly smell the EDT. But smelling the EDT first and going to the extract I could clearly smell the extract. It is thicker, stronger, but also brighter. Into the dry down the extract retains freshness while the EDT starts to give off tonka scents of tobacco and chocolate and coffee. Here you really see how the extract is like a king of summer class and refinement. The tonka dominated mid of the EDT is replaced by powdery iris and what seems like a menthol note - I don't know what this is, but could be caused by mandarin and cinnamon, the later of which is not in the EDT but starts to become noticeable in the extract after about one hour. There is only a faint sense of tobacco, if at all, and also a faint coffee/chocolate, totally overshadowed by the clean powderiness of the iris. This is not a clean linen smell like you get in Fragrance du Bois Heritage, but rather a clean woody smell. Into the dry down it retains its weight and brightness, the sandalwood sense of the amyris coming out with still that bright note. At this stage I am reminded of Fragrance du Bois Oud Bleu Intense, which has a menthol note with deep resins and manages to be both fresh and thick, like the extract. After about 5 h the EDT is almost gone while the strait is going strong but now smells like creamy sandalwood (think often dry down in something like FDB Santal Complet). But that menthol sense (which is not menthol just something like it) is still there. But while you get this creamy amyris sandalwood in the extract the EDT seems to have something like ambroxan - no sense of a woody depth, only an airy sweetness. The three fragrances it reminds me of most are FDB Oud Bleu Intense, FDB Santal Complet, and PDM Carlisle, only mixed with a bright top end and something like Prada L'Homme, so it is most suitable for summer, but nights out and formal occasions, although it is a dumb reach enough to work anywhere. So all I can say is that the Extrait is the better of the two but they are both amazing and both versatile. The EDT is lighter and compensates by being tonally darker through tonka dominance, while the extrait is thicker and has more freshness to balance out the deep woods and powdery iris. After experimenting I decided to buy the 11 ml travel spray of the EDT and a full 70 mL bottle of the extrait. EDT gets 8.5/10, extrait gets 9.5/10.

You know how even though there's a million flavors of ice cream out there, you sometimes just find yourself in the mood for plain vanilla? Vanilla ice cream is popular for a reason-- it’s good on its own, goes well with everything, gets the job done in almost any scenario. This is a high quality vanilla ice cream of men's fragrances (it doesn't smell exactly like vanilla ice cream or anything, but go with me on this). Amyris Homme Extrait works in every context. Casual, work, formal, whatever. It's just not going to offend a single person near you. And folks probably won't mention that you smell good because it won't seem like you're trying to impress anyone. They'll just think it comes naturally to you. In the same way that no one mentions the vanilla ice cream on a good cake, they'll end up complimenting you (the cake), not the fragrance (the ice cream). And that's even better than receiving a compliment on the scent you're wearing. Tons of people have mentioned that this is "designer-ish," and honestly you guys gotta let that one go. I've got a couple hundred fragrances, many of which are gnarly as all hell-- oud bombs, spotlights on Africa stone, impenetrable walls of smoke, cade, and birch tar, all that noise-- but I still have to admit that this hits the mark even though the note combo isn't particularly groundbreaking. Coming from the folks who are quick to dismiss this fragrance, I think "designer-ish" really just means it's wearable, inoffensive, and has tonka in it. OK, big deal-- it works here. The more important thing to note is that this is the best version of a particular tried-and-true, (and yes, fairly widespread) formula that you can get your hands on. The comparisons to Allure Homme Sport are appropriate, but the 2 scents don't cancel one another out. It's 100% worth snagging AHS for when you hit the gym while having this scent on deck for later that same night, whether you're going out to dinner or staying home. If you buy this, what you're paying for is one of the top 5 ultimate dumb reach fragrances. Is it unique? Absolutely not. Is it attention-grabbing? Not at all. Does it deserve a spot in your fragrance wardrobe? Yes. No question. There's tons of great, truly unique scents out there, and I love an adventurous, mind-blowing new olfactory journey as much as the next frag-head. But as much as I love smelling like a musky beaver wolf creature covered in roses and wildflowers, swinging a basket of Frankincense in a dank abandoned chapel overgrown with Amazonian jungle vegetation (and I often do-- trust me), sometimes you just want to wear something that everyone will like, and maybe you also want to know you're wearing a product that isn't some reformulated dime-a-dozen scent that you bought at Dillard's. Or, maybe more precisely... sometimes you're presented with a warm homemade Blueberry pie, and you can either add rainbow sherbert or a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream. Make the right decision. Also, really do try and find it discounted because it's mad expensive (real talk). Worth buying as it is, but WAY more worth it if you can get it in the $200ish range. 9/10 (1 point docked due to overall value for money)

Amyris Homme Extrait de Parfum opens with a moderate and sweet projection of multiple and pleasant accords. The mandarin feels crips, sweet and sharp; the Amyris has a fragrant, woody, ambery, soft piney and citrusy tone; the vanilla and tonka work together adding a delicate but prominent and aromatic note that creates a delectable touch; the cinnamon is a soft spicy touch; the iris and saffron add a soft floral and green accord. As the fragrance commences to dry-down, the mandarin loses some of its sharpness, rounded by the vanilla and tonka that are the projecting, and sweet accords, both create a soft powdery accord. The most noticeable change from the opening to the dry-down is the change from a moderate to strong to a moderate to low projection, also, the mandarin loses most of its very sharp and crisp scent; initially is very prominent but as it dry-downs, both, the mandrin and Amyris seat side by side. Once MFK Amyris Homme Extrait de Parfum has reached its full dry-down, it can be summarized as a moderate to low projection, ambery, sweet Amyris, and mandarin fragrance with woody, and floral accords. The fragrance feels airy, delectable, diurnal, exquisite, fresh, gentle, high-quality, invigorating, natural, refined, sweet, unisex, mild, woody, fruity, and very pleasant. BATCH REVIEWED: 2020. WOW RATING: 10/10. The combination of tones creates an impressive fragrance. DISLIKE RATING: 0/10. The fragrance contains no offensive notes. UNIQUENESS: 10/10. Amyris is a unique tone and it is well blended creating a great scent. MASS APPEAL: 10/10. This fragrance is a crowd-pleaser. PROJECTION: 1/10. Very low, about 1 foot around the wearer. SILLAGE: 1/10. Very low, almost none. APPLICATION: Four or more atomizations to improve longevity and performance. LONGEVITY: 4/10. About 4 hours, with 1 of moderate projection. SEASONS: Spring and summer. OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, gym, office, casual, holidays, romantic, dating. This is an office-friendly fragrance. VERSATILITY: 6/10. Withing its seasons, this is a versatile fragrance. GENDER: Unisex. Advertised as masculine, its tones are neutral. AGES: Any. RECOMMENDATION: Amyris Homme Extrait de Parfum can be found for close to $300. Although it is a fantastic blend, unique and impressive, its performance does not match its cost. It is a nice-to-have but not a must-have. BLIND-BUY: No, sample it first. SUMMARY: A moderate to low projection, ambery, sweet Amyris and mandarin fragrance with woody, and floral accords. The fragrance feels airy, delectable, diurnal, exquisite, fresh, gentle, high-quality, invigorating, natural, refined, sweet, unisex, mild, woody, fruity, and very pleasant.

My latest obsession and a fragrance that will instantly become my signature scent, hopefully in the near future Amyris Homme Extrait is the third of the four fragrances I acquired in MFK's sample set, and this one obliterates the other three, "blowing them out of the water" falls short to the monstrous gap between this and AMCF, Oud Satin Mood and GFS. There's just no point of comparison, this is perfect. It's insanely versatile, you can easily wear this all year round and for absolutely any occasion, it works perfectly for casual occasions but also for formal events. The scent itself is this addictive and masterfully blended resinous, slightly citrus (from the mandarin orange) and floral vanilla that's captivating from the first time you smell it. I don't think the scent changes much, if at all, from application to dry down but I don't mind this at all as it isn't a linear scent. A 2.4 oz bottle of Amyris Homme Extrait is $385 on MFK's website and it's an investment I'm definitely going to make. Unlike other fragrances I have on my shortlist, Amyris Homme Extrait is by far the most versatile one, the longest lasting (more on this later), my most complimented and potentially also the best smelling one. Projection isn't super strong, it seems to be on the moderate side, but it leaves a scent trail. When I wore it yesterday my grandmother said it smelled really nice when she walked into the kitchen, and by that point I had already left the kitchen around 10 minutes earlier. My sister also commented on it smelling amazing when she walked out of her room and I was already a good 20-25 feet away from her room's door. I know the fragrance left a trail instead of having enormous sillage because, unlike Khamrah Qahwa, my bedroom wasn't flooded with the scent, as I walked back into my room about 5 minutes after spraying it and my room didn't smell. Speaking of compliments, my mom, my sister and my grandmother all loved the smell of this fragrance and I'm sure more people would have commented on it if I had seen more people yesterday, but I didn't. Sillage is dense and long lasting, as I could smell myself really, really well for 5 hours, after which it became a skin scent. Longevity is astonishing, as my left arm still smells faintly like the fragrance 22 hours, a full night's sleep and a workout later. It's an extrait de parfum, so I suppose I shouldn't expect any less but it's still really impressive.

It is not easy to write a fairy tale or invent a surreal story around a scent that is, at its core, so ordinary and simple. I usually try to approach fragrances through an objective lens, but this time I have to be completely subjective. Although I have said a hundred times that I’ve found my signature scent, I don’t believe it really works that way. We don’t choose a signature fragrance, it chooses us. Only after years of wearing this perfume did I realize that this is a scent I love with the same intensity as on the very first day. It has never become boring to me, despite its apparent simplicity. Perhaps this is best supported by the reactions of random people, strangers, women, younger and older alike. If we were to dissect it note by note, we wouldn’t find any groundbreaking complexity or striking originality. And yet, this fragrance captivates with its freshness and effortless beauty. Believe me, what people love most on others is exactly this: freshness, cleanliness, and a subtle sweetness. If I had to break it down, I’d say it’s 33.3% fresh, 33.3% sweet, and 33.3% clean. I generally adore the MFK house and consider Kurkdjian one of the greatest perfumers of all time. There is also a deeply personal layer to this scent which reminds me of Paris and carries me back there every time I smell it. Perhaps that emotional anchor is what strengthened my bond with this fragrance over the years, it doesn’t just smell good, it feels familiar. Trust me, if you wear this fragrance, you will be noticed in the best possible way. People will simply want to lean in and smell more of that beautiful, unobtrusive aura. From the perspective of a broader audience, the main drawback would be the performance, which is undeniably light. A dosage of 10-15 sprays, both on skin and clothing, is almost recommended, which admittedly, makes it an expensive habit. But from a personal standpoint, I would say it is exactly as strong as it should be. If it were any stronger, it would belong to a different house altogether, it would lose its sophistication, its elegance, and every subtle touch that makes it unmistakably MFK.

Despite trying quite hard to research what Amyris actually is (a plant? a herb?) the best information I could find is that it may also be known as American or Jamaican sandalwood. My review of the EdT of 2009 describes it as a woody scent, with accents of iris and tonka (coumarin). Both versions of Amyris Homme have common notes to other scents, but I wouldn’t go as far as to call either a copy of anything. I find Chanel Allure Homme Sport (loaded with tonka bean) in any version and the Dior Homme series (based around iris) hard to wear. Not long after the release of Amyris Homme Extrait, I ended up with bottles of both the EdT and the Extrait. And I have put quite a dent in both. This says a lot - they are both easier to wear than any other similar scent. Whilst the EdT appears light and becomes a mess with too many sprays (no more than 2-3 with this one and it lasts all day), the Extrait is more polished and has less of the harshness from the dry down of the EdT. Whilst the tonka is a big player in the Extrait as well and supports the scent throughout, the aromatic, woody accents are amplified above the iris even more so than in the EdT. Once again though, the scent is not an "in your face" scent with no single note being unbalanced. If there was a slight hint of coffee in the EdT, there is definitely no such note in the Extrait. The Extrait is however a highly concentrated interpretation of the EdT, meaning even less of it is required than the EdT. Any more than 1-2 sprays could be too much. Projection is easily a few feet and a typical application should last well beyond 12 hours. A 70ml bottle should there last years. Both EdT and Extrait share some enormous similarities and as such should be thoroughly tested before committing. I couldn't decide between either and both were a love, so I proudly own both and change between them according to season and mood. Your mileage may vary and I can probably guess most would be happy with one or the other. Another all-star creation from MFK.

Let me first say that you can get a very similar smelling scent for much cheaper. However, that's not what this community is all about. We think with our hearts and eyes loving pretty bottles, not always necessarily our heads. This one smells so good that it becomes easy to think with your heart--at least in my case. The original one is nice, but this takes everything good about it and dials it up a lot. It's fairly "designer" in its approach, and notwithstanding the price tag, that's not necessarily a bad thing. At half off price for me, it was a no-brainer. It's not just a clean scent; it's fresh, vibrant, and the extrait version here gives a higher level of depth with some woodsy notes. It has a very soft powder-type smell about it, but it's smooth and not nose-tickling. It's fresh without leaning super blue or super citrus. More floral fresh, but not really like floral. Does that make sense? It's just a good type of fresh! I'm not technical. This makes a great office scent, date scent, just whatever you want to do while smiling intoxicatingly good. Again, definitely a designer-type of scent, but if it were in the middle of those normal designer fragrances--it would be the absolute standout of the group. It's hard not to like it, and it's not overly artsy to where you have to "decipher" what you're smelling. I love this, and it's definitely a dumb reach for me! Is Aventus better? Usually, yeah, but you don't always want to wear the same thing! I have over 100 fragrances and have tried many more than that, and this one is a star to me!

Amazing smelling, signature scent worthy fragrance. Amyris Homme Extrait is blended to perfection and the ingredients smell expensive. Although I wouldn't be able to identify each individual note and explain their purpose, it's clear to me that they complement each other extremely well, creating a fresh, creamy, aromatic scent profile. Most people would be familiar with this kind of traditional masculine DNA, because it's pretty similar to how hair gels and shaving creams are scented. Some of the criticisms I've read are fair - this does smell generic, but in no way I can comprehend does this smell bad. None of the notes are off-putting or synthetic, nor is this fragrance particularly unique or unusual - which makes for a perfectly safe scent, wearable anytime, anywhere. The fresh woodiness makes this more than agreeable in the heat, whereas the creamy thickness gives it enough depth and punchiness to pierce through chilly weather. The scent pushes off my skin so well that I actually enjoy walking back and forth a few steps, to indulge in my own sillage. Unfortunately, this fragrance loses a lot of its magic after the first 5-6 hours, which is probably sufficient for some, but I do expect more from an 'extrait', especially for beaucoup money. Smell: 9.5/10 Performance: 7/10 Presentation: 7.5/10 Value: 3.5/10 Overall: 9/10

This is a magnificent fragrance. MFK is my favorite house brand & the original Amyris was very nice but lacking performance for me, so when this was released, I rushed to Neimans to snatch it at full retail, only 3rd time I’ve done that. I always wanted MFK to create a stronger version & he did not disappoint. This fragrance opens up with a semi-sweet mandarin with woods, Tonka & cinnamon. The added cinnamon & vanilla give this fragrance an almost gourmand vibe, but doesn’t quite reach that level. It more so gives off a semi-sweet creaminess. This fragrance lasts quite a long time, I consistently get about 10 hours on lasting power & I get strong projection for the first hour, then I’ll get whiffs of it for another 3-4 hours more, so while not quite beast-mode, performance is well above average. Folks, this is a compliment getter, make no mistake about that. My wife compliments this literally every time I put it on & she doesn’t like 80% of my collection. Lastly, it’s quite expensive ($325), but you need so little that the bottle will last. Don’t over spray this fragrance. It’s has sneaky power & while the projection is moderate, the sillage is stellar & can be overwhelming if over-sprayed. This IS going to be a HOT seller! Scent 10/10, lasting power 9.5/10. Projection 8/10. Sillage 10/10. Overall 9/10

I finally got my nose on this fragrance, and I’m honestly mad at myself for waiting so long. It instantly jumped into my top five, and once I spend a little more time with it, I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes the top spot. In my opinion, this might be the best spring fragrance I’ve ever smelled. It’s actually kind of hard to describe. You know that moment when you step outside, sneeze, and suddenly your sinuses clear and everything smells incredibly fresh and airy? It’s like that. It's still perfectly suited for all seasons, but spring is the perfect spot for this. The opening has this beautiful citrus brightness with a slightly soapy freshness. Not long after, it settles into a gorgeous masculine floral accord, lightly dusted with cinnamon and vanilla. It’s simple, but perfectly done. I keep catching little whiffs of it while walking around or just sitting still, and every time it happens it puts a smile on my face. Performance is moderate to slightly weaker on my skin, but that's ok. Also, the atomizer on this MFK bottle is so bad! These companies should be embarrsed making you spend all that money and it sprays poorly. Anyways, this is perfect. Update: this has become my signature scent. It’s a certified 10 out of 10 masterpiece.

Now, this is my first-ever review, so keep that in mind. The best way to describe this scent is just pure luxury. Opting for the Parfum concentration shows its value when you can still smell this scent on your skin 24 hours later even after a shower. The opening is one of the most beautiful scents I've ever had the pleasure of smelling, and the dry down is even better with that warm powdery iris and vanilla combining to make a perfectly sweet scent, without being sickly or cloying. The cinnamon undertone is just so beautiful and well done, as it doesn't punch you in the face like some other fragrances (i.e. spicebomb extreme.) Now the best thing about this fragrance is it gets your attention without begging for it. It's a wonderful scent to smell all day, and it's subtle enough that it won't annoy anyone, but if someone smells you, you're very likely to get a high praise compliment. It's also so versatile, as you can seriously wear it during any season. I think this is one of the best from the house, and something I've found is layering it on top of grand soir can make it have that extra "winter pop" for anyone worried about that. Truly a masterpiece, 10/10 fragrance.

This one reminds me of Boss Bottled, the way the vanilla plays with the fresher notes, however, they do not smell similar at all. This happens to be light years ahead of the aforementioned. This is one intriguing scent. It's borderline addictive in the way I can't stop smelling it. I grabbed a small sample at Nordstrom and I think it's safe to say this is full bottle worth. I have to say though, it is quite confusing. This is the definition of "simple, yet complex." It's so simple and feels one dimensional, but then all the notes start to come out but then quickly hide again. From afar, it will smell like a designer. Up close you can smell the other notes dancing in the background creating an unbelievable experience. At first, I loved the scent but thought theres no way in hell this is worth the asking price. But the more I kept smelling it, the more it kept changing my mind. Finally, I am here. I want a full bottle. The quality is hard to turn down. Very hard to turn down. This is the best but most confusing linear "familiar" frag on the market. But it's not really linear. But it sort of is, wtf! Overall the scent is worth the confusion.

Beautiful, classy and fun fragrance. As someone else said, this may not be a masterpiece, but it is a masterwork. The quality, longevity and projection of Amyris Homme Extrait are off the charts. I still caught whiffs 12 hours after spraying. Advice when testing Amyris Homme Extrait: spray on your skin and not a fragrance tester strip. This, more than any fragrance I have tested unfolds much more beautifully on the skin than paper. On paper, my first instinct was as the previous poster said: tonka power bomb. However, on the skin, this fragrance unfolds in WONDERFUL layers. Tonka is the base, followed by this faint and luxurious zingy-tangy mandarin note which is balanced by the soft iris notes and warm vanilla. There is a video advertisement released by MFK for this fragrance which shows a joyful couple frolicking through Paris. I think it is the perfect representation of Amyris Homme Extrait. Luxurious and whimsical. Completely versatile for both day and night throughout the year (except maybe summer days). You will smell great and inviting. Love, love this stuff. Lifts my spirits when I wear it.

This is one of the best scents I’ve ever smelled. It hits every single spot for me: the opening, the middle notes, and the base once it dries down. Perfection. It smells like a high-end lotion that just screams luxury and class, putting a smile on my face every time I catch a whiff. Now, let’s talk about why this isn't hyped, and why it is probably underrated to an extent. To love this, you have to be okay with paying Extrait prices for something that doesn’t even come close to performing like one. I’m someone who genuinely enjoys intimate scents, but in my experience, this is just too weak on my skin. After two hours, the scent almost completely disappears—to the point where I have to bury my nose into my arm just to catch something. It’s funny, because for the first two hours or so, it actually has a strong projection. If this were $275 for 70ml, this would 100% be my signature scent you can literally wear it anywhere, any time, I wouldn’t mind carrying a decant everywhere. Scent: 10/10 Versatility: 10/10 Performance: 4.5/10 Projection: 2/10 Price: -8/10

This is a sad review. To me this is hands down one of the best smelling scents I have ever owned. Each listed note is discernable, balanced, and perfectly complimentary. The drydown is beautiful, soft, buttery, and incredible. The sad part: the performance is absolutely abysmal. This becomes a skin scent in less than 3 hours (Probably more like 2.5), and has basically zero projection. With 4 pretty generous sprays (each side of the neck and both wrists), I struggle to get anything 3 hours after applying. I bought a bottle from someone for $220, which is insanely cheaper than retail, and even at that price point, this is barely justifiable for an extrait. I think it's a reminder that labeling something "extrait" is not always an indication of its performance. Whatever additional quantity of ingredients qualifies this as extrait does not corelate at all to it's projection or longevity. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 5/10 Projection: 5/10 Full bottle worthy? I did it... and I don't regret it, but unless money is irrelevant, you'd be wild to pay retail for this.

I was going to go for the Amyris Homme EDT after being completely mesmerized by its ability to remind me of the past, without any particular mental hook. But then I tried the Extrait and let me tell you - it's a different perfume. The vanilla on the top gives it a new twist and it takes at least 2-3 hours to start smelling similar to the EDT. So I think that rather than going for one or the other, a good option would be to spray the EDT in the morning, and go for the Extrait by 6PM to last you for the entire evening. I would not call it a masculine scent, at least not in the way of being cool, rough or animalic. But with the right outfit you can definitely wear this without compromising on your masculine energy. A straight 10/10 for me. The only thing I wish for is that they also had this in the 35ml bottle. I think that 70ml is too much, at least for those who don't wear this as a signature scent.

[8.8/10] Ultra Luxury Fabric Softener This is one of the most luxurious blends for all year daily wear I've smelled, like bedding from Burj Al Arab. It's challenging to even say what’s in this without looking at the notes because of how smooth and well rounded the blend is. It's not remarkable in profile, just sweet, fresh, and fluffy, but done in a rich way so you will never choke anyone out. Epic luxury office scent. This is 85% similar to the EdT with better performance - but that wouldn’t be hard. Lasts about 8 hours with medium to soft projection. Not every fragrance needs to be beast mode, and this is being its own thing perfectly. If you want a luxurious sophisticated sweet and clean signature scent, then this is a great option. Price is subject to opinion but if you can get it on discount, then I would consider it. Easily a forever frgrance for me.

I picked this up this weekend and it will clearly be a frequent reach among my office-safe daily wear fragrances. This sweet and fresh profile is very modern, and reminds me of a higher quality, longer lasting and niche version of YSL MYSFL. Of course, Amyris Homme was released first. So, it may have served as inspiration for YSL's perfumers. The extrait version is much better and a bit smoothed out compared to the EDP. The hint of oud in the base of the EDP version gives it a sharp edge that would be hard to pull off in the office. This, on the other hand, doesn't have that issue. Anyway, this is an extremely versatile fragrance that breaks from the traditional citrus freshie or green/barbershop fragrance profile, and instead has a mature depth and sweetness to it. My first full bottle of MFK after feeling meh about 724 and Gentle Fluidity Silver.

We all know those "date-night" designers smell great. I'm talking D&G The One, YSL L'Homme La Nuit, Lacoste L'Homme, etc... Only problem is, longevity is hilariously bad; some through reformulations, some were born that way. Enter Amyris Homme Extrait. I won't get too much into the individual notes, but this falls into the same category as the aforementioned....and it lasts. Oh my, does it last. MFK isn't joking when he calls something an "extrait"; BR540 and Oud are both still hitting hard after 8 hours on my skin; Amyris is no exception. The question becomes, is a very well-composed and long-lasting designer replacement worth the money Amyris is asking? With vintage bottles of YSL La Nuit going for $200+...there's a market out there somewhere. For me personally, this 11ml travel spray should scratch a certain itch for awhile.

Not a fragrance I thought I would like, but growing on me and definitely worth it. This fragrance almost has a lipsticky cast, but with the perfect amount of powder and sweetness as well as a base that is masculine without overpowering the fragrance with wood or calone. I find a lot of similarities to Lipstick On by Margiela, but without the heaviness or dryness, as well as a good amount of the MFK DNA as a base. I really like gender neutral fragrances, and this one is very down this middle with a slight lean toward the feminine. I much prefer the extrait, because I feel like it is clarified and thankfully lacks some of the citrus that in my opinion throws it off in the toilette version. I work in fashion and this scent is what I’m always searching for, something artistic, but very professional. Colorful, but traditional.

Amyris homme undee his extrait de parfum versión is a fresh and Woody perfume with a classical vibe. I can get some citrus at the opening and then It turns a bit sweeter. I dont know how the amyris smell but i can get some very dry and Woody flowers, maybe something more or less similar to the immortelle that i supose could be the amyris. It is also a bit spicy with the cinnamon and the saffron. I think It could be perectly unisex, because It goes a bit on the way of perfumes like Boss the scent, sweet but fresh, or even like infusión d'homme by Prada, a little floral but fresh and dry, but i think It Will be more liked by men. The lo gevity is good although the sillage is just average. Better for daytime or as Office scent. Scent: 7.5 Longevity: 8 Sillage: 6 Quality/price: 5 Versatility: 9 Originality: 5 Global: 7.5

This fragrance is by far the best smelling and most alluring fragrance I have ever smelled. I own over 120 fragrances and this is by far my favorite of them all. If la nuit d'lomme and allure homme sport eau extreme had a love child, Amyris will be it. This is not a fragrance that announces itself in a crowd. It's a very beautiful and subtle masterpiece that sits close to the skin for 12+ hours but you'll keep getting whiffs of it entire time and it evokes my dopamine every time. If I have to own one fragrance for the rest of my life, this will be it because it's versatile enough that it can be worn at all times in all situations. The price is steep of course but it's totally worth it in my opinion. If you can afford it, grab yourself a bottle or better yet, get a decant and enjoy this beauty.

Why is no one talking about this? I haven’t smelled anything like it, yet... it has a passing familiarity, or a distant memory feel to it. If someone was wearing this around me, I think I’d naturally just find them trustworthy. Kind of a niche take on a blue? Almost too unique to even classify it as such — yet, it’s not bold either. High class, unique, expensive, versatile, and mass-pleasing. Dressed up or down, you’re going to be pulling people in closer trying to smell you. If you had a bottle of Grand Soir, and a bottle of Amyris Homme Extrait, you would honestly be covered for life. But do any of us here have the self-control to stop there? I think not...🤣 Update: Longevity feels okay, but the projection is a bit of a letdown. An intimate, all-day wearer you get from this.

This is a comparison between Amyris and the Extrait de parfum. Extrait de parfum is one of my 5 best ever fragrances out of everything I tried. A scent that does not try hard to impress, but still makes a statement of elegance and charm. Soft, elegant, charming and pleasant. The best floral perfume for men. This is not a scent that shocks you. It rather enchants you softly and gentenly. This is a spring dream in a bottle... a mastery in the art of perfumery. This is how the extrait is compared to the original: -Less dense. -Less sweet. -Less tonka. -More floral -More refined. -More elegant. -It last longer but it projects less. -Still no lipsticky vibe.

Picked this one up in my MFK sample pack. Didn’t know anything about this fragrance, and didn’t looked at any reviews before. But when i saw the note iris on the MFK shop i thought let’s give it a try, maybe it’s in line with dior homme. But no.. it really is not. I have never heard of amyris before, but i guess it’s the fresh subtile smell behind this fragrance. During the dry down i can detect some light ’lipstick’ iris smell, but it might aswell be my brain Tilling me this. Some light Woody and tonka sweetness and we have another well blened summer fragrance. Have to give this one a few more tries, but for the first time smelling it’s really nice

This was and still is one of my go to fragrances. You can wear it pretty much any time, in any season. It's sweet, but not overdone, there's a small powder touch, but it's more creamy and rich than anything else. As for projection and longevity. This is fine, the longevity is solid, I get about 8 hours of wear on this. Projection isn't monster, but it's noticeable, and this is more about the sillage than projection anyway. If all you care about is projection, you're not really a frag head are you? This is a beautiful scent, and what you wear should be based on you, not making sure a person can smell you 1/2 mile away.

Very well done. It’s a softened citrusy vanilla, that somehow projects strongly. Most colognes with similar profiles, are too punchy with the citrus, or too sweet with vanilla in the dry down. Truly versatile. Bright enough for summer days, and sweet enough for date night. This may be a true masterpiece in its subtly. The masculine and feminine balance of power in this scent...is truly other worldly. I normally avoid citrus, this is only the second one I’ve bought (Tonic Vert which is a green with lime/lemon uniquely predominant, and you still get a slight herby barbershop dry down)

A true Swiss Army knife fragrance. Any occasion, any time of year. Has a sort of laissez-faire, French elegance about it. Sure, it’s not the most unique fragrance, but the dry down is what keeps me coming back to this one - it becomes this transparent, airy vanilla that’s utterly addictive. Especially when you sweat also, this one comes to life. Another tick is performance - it’ll sit close to your skin through a whole day but with a nice albeit small bubble, which honestly is better than any other freshie I’ve tried as my skin seems to be a black hole for fragrances.

When i first got into niche and fragrances in general, i was sampling this next to aventus to decide on my first niche purchase. I decided on this, and it has been my signature ever since. That was 3 years ago. Hundreds and hundreds of samples later, and many full size bottle purchases later, and this is still my signature scent. I have not encountered another fragrance like Amyris Homme Extrait. It is perfect dressed up, or casual, warm or cool weather, anytime anywhere! So well blended, so smooth and sexy. Certainly going to maintain its place for years to come

I have NEVER done Cocaine! But if its as addictive as this masterpiece , then WOW !!!! I think its the most underrated MFK currently offered. Its such a unique, and rich smelling fragrance. This Ambery - Woody fragrance is complemented by a spicy vanilla. Its such a wonderful creation. Everytime I put this on, It gives me so much confidence its crazy. Also, one thing you have to know, this thing LASTS and PROJECTS. If you want somethign that most people dont have, and dont mind spending a crap load of money on this gem, GO FOR IT ! IG @VirginNose

Is it worth the money? Nobody can answer the question for you, my fragriends. For me, the best male scent by MFK. Casual or formal, as you please. You won't bother anyone in the room but will rather leave an attractive trail as you walk. The iris and tonka combo is my jam, and the added amyris makes the scent superb and exudes class. It’s thick enough to last throughout the day compared to the OG. Cinnamon adds an edge to the composition, while vanilla and saffron bring a leathery base feel. It's a grown-up scent with a touch of youthful energy.

When i smell this i just feel like it’s the target profile many designer fragrances aim for but miss; MFK is creating some of the most popular accords using some of the most popular notes, but in the best way possible; Amyris Homme extrait has an aroma that is undeniably pleasing, but what separates it from the rest in my opinion is its breadth of sophistication; it’s so versatile, yet the fragrance itself warrants a formal wearing, but you could pull this off in many situations, many times a year, the more i wear it the more i love it!

A more full-bodied version of the EDT: Orange citrus and fresh aromatic opening, which quickly settles into a soft iris with creamy vanillic undertones from the tonka bean. Not as big a difference as you might think going from EDT concentration to Extrait, as while it's more dense this also retains more of the fresh orange as it dries down. Like a Creamsicle with iris. I don't find the performance any better either, having more potency as a skin scent but less throw. Moderate initial projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 16hr+.

Incredibly good fragrance, coupled with incredibly good performance. Priced on the high side, but I guess that is the only way to get a fragrance you can actually smell for any appreciable amount of time these days. In comparison, the EDT only gives me a few hours. That is disappointing for a niche fragrance costing over $200USD. It is a shame that in order to actually have a decent performer you need to spend over $350. Crazy sauce. Probably going to get a bottle when my EDT runs dry after a month of wearing it.

Beautifully blended. No it’s not the most complex but it does last on my skin. It projects just enough as I use this for meetings and client interactions. Citrus give is a slight sparkle that keep it as an uplifting frag. Sweet but not cloying, clean and fresh. Something that’s very approachable. Gains a ton of compliment because it’s hard to not like. People around you will enjoy the scent trail. Every season except winter imo. 10/10 simply because it’s so good that there’s no way you can hate this

I absolutely love this frag, like would have it on my “for life” list, would have this as a signature scent Drives me crazy that people say this is designer’sh, I completely disagree My experience with this, and what makes this niche AF is that is changes based on the temperature. During the summer, there are citrusy and coconut notes that come out. As is gets cooler, there is a more earthy and baking chocolate tone to it. Not designer, completely changes and morphs, a lot of depth.

This one is my absolute favourite fragrance from MFK together with Grand Soir! Super versatile, elegant, classy and very addictive... Wish it projected a little bit more, because it turns into a skin scent after 2 hours! Allthough it lasts about 6-8 hours on my skin. The combination of freshness with the woody tones is just perfect. I have the edt and the extrait, and I prefer the extrait because it's a bit more dense, fuller and darker... the edt is more lighter and easy going.

A rare example of a flanker improving on the original. The Eau de Parfum was already an excellent fragrance, beloved by many. Here, we have that same profile but better blended, slightly sweeter, slightly creamier. The sillage and projection have also been amped up. This is something that could be worn in both warm and cold weather, day and night. It's such a versatile fragrance. Women could wear this without a problem. It's unisex for sure despite the Homme label. 9.5/10

Amyris Extrait is one of my favorite discoveries of the past year. Such a classy, friendly, elegant scent that's extremely versatile and blended perfectly. It's the ideal scent for professional daytime wear or evenings out in any season. "Playful Elegance" is the perfect tagline and performance is outstanding. This is a highly underrated scent that smells spectacular. It's an instant love for me. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 9/10 Projection: 7/10 Price/Performance Ratio: 5/10

I am not someone who is too crazy about vanilla fragrances as most are a little too sweet for my liking. That is not the case for this masterpiece ! The vanilla is balanced nicely with the iris, and there is a bit of airiness to it which stops from being overly sweet. If you want something a bit fresher, I would recommend the EDT version as it is more airy. But the extrait really brings out the ingredients more as expected. This fragrance is a thing of beauty

It has been almost two weeks since ive had this. And quite honestly, I must say, after a little bit of maceration. I can honestly say that this is my favorite cologne of all time. Unfortunately, the price is crazy and I can understand why people wouldn’t even bother. However, if I have enough money, I would like to buy me a second bottle because I don’t wanna run out of this stuff. This cologne blows Lafayette Street out of the water.

This is a wonderful fragrance! It's by no means a super strong performer given the "extrait" tag, but it's there and you will get whiffs of it for several hours. Oddly enough, I tried JPG's Fleur du Male a day before trying this, and I feel MFK took that fragrance and made it much more elegant, modern, and delicate and turned it into Amyris Homme Extrait. I would be happy to have a full bottle of this.

I understand why people call this designer-ish, it has mass appeal, but I disagree wholeheartedly. There isn't a single designer that could take this one's place. creamy citrus on a bed of lightly spiced vanilla with the best iris note I've ever smelled. I'm not a fan of anything iris but mfk nailed this one. This is a bit pricey but it's worth every penny on a warm spring afternoon. Beautifully done

I’ve sampled hundreds of fragrances and purchased many fragrances, and only a small handful of fragrances are so addictive i cant get enough, no matter how many times i spray them i keep coming back for more and more!! This is one of those fragrances, signature scent worthy, beautiful, compliment getter long lasting! Even though it’s an extrait it’s not too strong, a true masterpiece and work of art

This is Francis Kurkdjian to me. It's immaculate, precise, refined, fresh, sweet, dry, and warm at the same time. It's so dialed in that it seems like there must be a mass market fragrance like it available for much less, but if there is I don't know it. This is like if Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme was absolutely perfected. Would I pay $380 for a 70 ml bottle? Not a chance in hell. It's perfume.

Initially I thought this fragrance was good and that I would wear it sometimes, but here we are, needing a new bottle as it is one of those fragrances that I find myself reaching for often. No matter the occasion, this works, and works well. While it will never be my favorite scent, it will always be actively in my rotation. Solid 8.9/10

At first it seemed too mainstream for me, but now I own a bottle of it. If you're familiar with Clive Christian Rock Rose, just imagine a more circumspect and perfect execution of Rock Rose, engineered to nanometer precision. It's a masterwork, and not a masterpiece, yet once again, Kurkdjian roped me in with a zero-dimensional, single-toned thing of beauty. Try it.

It lasts about 3-6 hours with a 1-2 hours of moderate projection. The sillage is pretty bad, but it's still a great scent. I'm going to try wearing it a few more times before I go for a full bottle. Because this stuff is really addicting, but the overall performance is just reaching average. Maybe I'll get better performance from the mfk bottle, but Idk.

OK, this is the richer version of the original, and it's more complex. To me, it feels more sophisticated than the EDT, so I save it for special occasions such as weddings, dinners, etc. It has great projection and lasts all day. For me, this is my favorite from the house of MFK. If I had to pick just one, this would be it. I love it! 10/10.

Quite mass-appealing and has a familiar feel to it. It is very well blended and smells of quality. The opening is dramatically buttery and uplifting. In the dry down, it has this musky orange or something that I can't describe. I get compliments left right and center with this one. Really cool how this transforms over time, LOVE IT.
