Amyris Homme

I completely agree with the statement in the pros section that says "tropical summer vibe with a warming tonka woody winter vibe." This is in all ways a high heat fragrance, but smelling it reminds me of winter for some reason. To begin with, let me just say that I agree with the comparisons made to this fragrance. It does give off a slight Chanel allure homme vibe in the opening, but it smells more like a hybrid between YSL l'homme and Prada l'homme. Actually, on my skin, it smells the most like YSL l'homme because it just smells like a huge blast of pepper on my skin after the mandarin and subtle rosemary in the opening fade away. After it dries down a bit, the iris and chocolate become very dominant. I don't smell any coffee or oud, and my skin chemistry amplifies oud, so I wouldn't say there's any oud in this fragrance. Maybe Kurkdjian included the lowest amount of oud possible in this fragrance to be able to legally say that this fragrance contains oud, just to be able to overprice the fragrance, but this is not the first instance of this unethical practice (consider Tom Ford and Creed). Ultimately, the tonka bean starts smoothening and sweetening this fragrance, giving it a mass-appealing quality. I love how the tonka bean is used in here, because it reminds me of winter even though I've never smelled this fragrance until I recently bought it. Now, about the performance. Lemme warn you in advance that my skin chemistry is not the greatest with citrus fragrances, because those tend to underperform on me. The longevity is okay, not more than 4 hours on my skin. The sillage is huge in the opening but then drops flat after 5 mins. This smells unequivocally masculine, mainly because of the pepper overdose. The price is quite bad, but at least it's masterfully crafted, the raw materials are high quality, and the perfumer is respectfully goated. Overall: Scent: 8/10 Season and time of day: Summer and spring days (but also peppery and icy enough for refreshing wear in winter) Gender: Masculine Longevity: Moderate (mid) (3-4 hrs with 3 sprays) Sillage: Moderate (beastmode in the first 5 mins but then falls flat almost immediately thereafter) Price value: Overpriced (good perfumer making high quality frags, but definitely overpriced for the performance it offers)

Amyris Homme leaves an impression of “not much effort but still flawless” from the moment it first reaches your nose. An understated, artificial, measured elegance. Just like a perfectly ironed but loose shirt... the elegance inside is hidden in its simplicity. This perfume seems to have been designed for men who do not like ostentation but want to inspire respect in their surroundings. No one notices how much you spray, but when you leave a room, that air is still there. It almost blends with the skin, creating a feeling as if you are smelling it from the inside rather than from the outside. Amyris Homme has a bit of French cinema in its air. Like those plain but mysterious characters. A man who does not show what he thinks but draws attention, who neither laughs nor talks too much... But once you make eye contact, he is like a man who offers a silence that can deepen. This scent gives a kind of “clear mind, clear view” feeling. Modern but not sterile, warm but not suffocating. Despite the hustle and bustle of a day in the city, it carries a sense of inner order. Despite the daily rush, it smells like someone who protects his personal space and boundaries. It performs very well especially in hot weather. It does not get heavy, it does not stick, it does not tire you. Instead, it remains on your skin like a nice, silky layer. In the office, outdoors, in a meeting or on an evening walk... It has a structure that adapts to all. It does not belong to a single environment; it is versatile, but never ordinary. Some perfumes impose themselves on you, while others adapt to you. Amyris Homme is in the second group. That's why it is easy to wear. It does not try to show itself, but still attracts attention. It is like the polite man of modern times: a presence that exists without making noise, but whose effect does not fade. (Amyris is often referred to as "western sandalwood", but it is not a substitute for true sandalwood. It has a slightly sweet, slightly woody, citrusy, creamy feel. Its structure is more volatile, its effect is calmer and simpler. In perfumes, Amyris offers a similar character to sandalwood, but more budget-friendly and fresh.)

"Masterpiece" is a word I don't throw around too much when it comes to fragrances, and if I do it's often an objective appreciation of the art, and not a personal love of the fragrance itself. Many of the best I've smelled are along the lines of "this stuff is amazing but I would barely wear it," however this is one hell of an exception. For way too long I've been looking for an everyday cool-weather scent that's not cloying, exotic, gourmand, or too mature/sophisticated. Something that's fresh and clean, while being soft, warm, and comforting. Stunningly beautiful yet understated. Unique and worthwhile yet simple. And I gotta say, Amyris Homme is that fragrance through and through. Clean iris and amyris warmed by rich tonka, lifting up the soft spiciness of rosemary (and something else almost cinnamon-like, it might take a bit more time for it to click). All rounded out with this sweet, powdery, lactonic cacao note that takes this composition to another level. These are some of my all-time favorite notes in fragrances. Personally, this is a warm scent and would come off as cloying in the heat. The fact that so little people vote this as being suitable for winter is crazy to me! If you're someone who isn't a huge fan of scents that are overly spicy, sweet, or laden with boozy/tobacco notes, then this is an absolute banger in cold weather. This fragrance in general is for those who are put-together, like to make themselves presentable, but don't take themselves too serious. Confident, dependable, yet not afraid of the side of them that's soft, filled with the inevitable flaws and quirks of us as humans. If you have a fragrance like this really suits you well then you probably know what I mean. Glad that after spending so long collecting and sampling, I finally found a fragrance that truly resonates with me in a way other than "wow this smells so good." While performance isn’t spectacular, I'm refraining from trying the extrait for the time being. Trying a potentially better version of this and not being able to afford it sounds terrible.

I first smelled this at Macy's and didn’t really get the hype. So I ordered a decant and I’m glad I went with a 30 ml. This is a smooth, bright spring summer fragrance that comes across as quite sophisticated. There’s a subtle “pheromone-like” vibe to it (my wife really likes that), along with a faint note that reminds me of chocolate-coated waffles. It’s not sweet in an obvious way more like the smell of waffles lightly dipped in milk chocolate rather than drenched in it. The opening is citrusy, but it has a warm, sunny quality to it. It actually reminds me a bit of the uplifting opening of Byredo Bal d’Afrique, possibly due to the Amyris note. In the middle, that chocolate-waffle nuance becomes more noticeable. The base leans into tonka-heavy amber and agarwood, but I still catch whiffs of the amyris popping up every now and then, which keeps it interesting. Performance is solid. It has good sillage and longevity, even if you personally feel like it’s fading. One thing to watch out for: if you apply it on damp skin right after a shower, it can give off a slightly medicinal, cough syrup-like note from the chocolate aspect. I noticed this happens when there’s moisture on the skin, so I now make sure to apply it only after I’m completely dry. Overall, this is a classy, office-safe fragrance that feels smooth and refined without relying on the usual vanilla-sandalwood combo that’s everywhere right now.

On my skin, it starts off airy, cool, green and metallic. It then dries down to a green, earthy, creamy, slightly sweet and powdery scent. It smells like "mountain breeze", at least on the initial spray - the airiness, the cool, mint-like effect, the greens that smells like pine trees – loved it! The airy, effervescent effect of it is interesting and I loved this aspect that seems to be common to MFK offerings, in my mind - BR540, and Gentle Fluidity Silver also has this effect, and speaking of GFS, I caught the same metallic scent from GFS here. That mountain breeze vibes is gone after 15 mins in my skin. I wish it lasted more though. The drydown, even though not as much, is still interesting – earthy green, creamy, powdery and subtly sweet. It feels unique but familiar at the same time. There are times that I smell its earthy, green-ness more, but there are also times that I can smell the makeup-y aspect of it. It's perfectly in the middle. For me, this is very versatile. Perfectly unisex, can be worn day or night imo, and can be worn on warm or cold days. It seems to have this character that tries so hard to be in the middle but ends up as someone that is not sure what it wants to do. It's a bit hard to picture out a certain type of guy/girl that would wear this honestly. Appreciate and love how masterfully blended this is, having no character also fits perfectly for me – a 10/10!

After aquiring the Men's Wardrobe sampler this fragrance came out #1 of all the offerings for me and that included the likes of Grand Soir, Lumiere Noir and other amazing compositions from Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I've noticed that Amaryis Pour Homme has gotten a lot of mild reviews with words like "uninspiring" and "generic" being used. I couldn't disagree more. I think the unique Jamaican Amaryis note coupled with the creamy Tonka Bean, Sicilian Mandarin, and Florentine Iris present something truly special and intoxicating. I can't stop smelling my hand, arm, and whatever else I sprayed this on. It is truly that delicious! It is a brightly illuminated scent that is extremely versatile and can be worn in many occasions, seasons and situations. Signature scent worthy and non offensive! It also garners compliments. I would recommend this to any age group and it could be worn by a woman even though it leans pretty masculine IMO. Maison Francis Kurkdjian is truly a legend in creating unique tasty fragrances. A master perfumer. I have really come to appreciate the entire house. OUTSTANDING fragrance from an legendary nose. You owe it to yourself to at least sample this. You won't regret it. If you decide to buy a full bottle the bottle itself it one of the most gorgeous out there. An Awesome fragrance!

Never fully trust fragrance notes is what I learned with this fragrance. I was going in expecting something along the lines of 1 million, where you get a bit of citrus and then its mostly sweet because of the chocolate, amyris, and coffee listed. Instead, I get a very aromatic, dry citrus for about an hour and it settles into a lightly sweet, soapy coconut shampoo smell at about the 2nd hour mark. Performance is solid on my skin for a fresher fragrance, I get about 6 hours before its just a pure skin scent. Projection is decent, I sprayed an hour before going out and my girlfriend said she could smell me pretty strongly in the car, but this is the kind of scent profile that shouldn't project massively. This is my favorite MFK I have tried and one out of 2 I believe is full bottle worthy from the brand. I was very very pleasantly surprised with this fragrance and although its not the most unique smell in the world, it is so refined and I cant imagine someone disliking this smell unless you hate oranges or soap. (Update, this made my top 10 in my collection. It is a very easy wear and even though i go noseblind to it I can't stop smelling it) 10/10

During my undergraduate studies, in one of the physiology lectures, we were taught that we "smell with our brain" - our nerves are directly sensing the molecules which then get processed in our brain to "smell"; this olfactory sense is well preserved across animals, albeit with different sensitivity, adapted to the environment, increasing their likelihood of survival - sense of aversion, and preference. I am no expert, but I am inclined to say this is perhaps why our olfactory is so closely tied to our emotions. Amyris homme brings me a happy memory. It is what my love of my life, then a friend, a neighbour remembers me with. This is the first fragrance she recognized me with, and complimented me for, and therefore I too have a positive association. It gives me a flashback of our first interaction to how it bloomed into a relationship. Sweet, sparkly, vivid, smooth. Just like Amyris homme. I usually look for groundbreaking and unique fragrances since I got serious in fragrance game in 2010, but there are times I miss comforting, reliable fragrance, and for me, Amyris have been 'that' fragrance for awhile.

My journey into niche perfumery began with Gentle Fluidity Silver, and because I loved it so much, I felt compelled to try this one. Amyris Homme is truly a masterpiece—remarkably smooth and creamy, perfectly balancing freshness with a subtle sweetness. The iris note here initially reminded me of Prada L'Homme, but this is significantly more layered and nuanced. There is an unmistakable "DNA" in MFK fragrances; a distinct aura that elevates the experience. This is where the line between niche and designer is drawn: the sheer feeling it evokes. Whether it’s the use of superior raw materials, their inherent originality, or the impeccable composition, the quality is undeniably top-tier. I’ve come across comments suggesting that some niche scents are "too simple," "designer-ish," or "redundant." I must respectfully disagree. Upon smelling Amyris Homme, the leap in quality is immediately apparent. In my opinion, given the craftsmanship and the luxury experience it provides, the premium price point is entirely justified. Great job, well done!

As others have said, this has a designer feel to it, however this is miles ahead on quality. The way it develops certainly puts it on another level compared to mainstream fragrances. This one starts off soft and light-floral and slightly powdery due to the iris, but very quickly transitions into a fresh, citrus, floral-woody. The powder isn't like baby power or something you'd correlate to an old person. It is very fresh but one in such a quality way. As it continues to dry down the tonka starts to give it a back bone and adds an aspect of depth which turns it fresh but deep and almost universal. It ends up being a citrus-woody-floral-tonka, but it all blends so beautifully that one doesn't overpower the other. The way it almost feels feminine and masculine at the same time makes it all the more masculine in such a unique way. This stuff is a fun, nearly linear journey. I would consider this a simple masterpiece. The very dry down is tonka heavy and it is yet again, wonderful.

Love this masterpiece. Takes your senses a while to get your head around the scent but you will fall in love with it and appreciate it more and more. Wonderfully crafted... at first I couldn’t understand why edt? Niche brand selling high end stuff and used cheaper option... I’ve since realised now after owning the extrait version how different they project. EDT will separate the scent and leave it light and airy in a really good way so I think they did a great choice using EDT. Having the extrait version it’s amyris homme maybe 60% but much heavier and creamier with vanilla. Up close on skin it’s 100% different. You have to accept they are two different great scents with a similar DNA not a stronger version of one another. I’m happy to own both... EDT you can wear daily with as many sprays as you like the EDP is a special event just with being careful as doesn’t air the same and can become heavy if applied heavily.

This was my sample for today. I loved it, I don’t understand why it’s getting bad reviews. It starts off being really fresh and citrusy in combination with the rosemary. But as it starts to settle you get the amyris and It becomes this super comforting scent. The dry down is what I enjoy most about this fragrance. It’s a little bit sweet, I can slightly pick up the chocolate but the coffee and coconut are harder to detect. To my nose I get vanilla, tonka bean and a bit of oud/ woods. But some times with fragrance you’re not supposed to smell every single note and it’s the combination of the notes that create certain smells. I put this on before work and I still smell like it 8 hours later. silage is great when you walked into my office at work you could smell it straight away. I’d say it’s 100% unisex, I’d easily buy this for myself.

This has to be one of the sexiest men’s perfumes I have ever tried! Definitely for going to a swanky event where you want to stand out and be appealing. Blindbuy and full botty worthy! It’s so beautifully refined and balanced. The sandalwood wood and citrus is warm, creamy smooth a tad soapy clean and intoxicating. The Amyris mixed with the tonka gives it a sweet, seductive and decadent almost gourmand but not quite as it’s also aromatic like a herb is in here sage I would say. Everything is so well blended and magical, I’m surprised such a sexy, seductive and addictive perfume isn’t more hyped. Actual notes: Sicilian mandarin, jamaican amyris, florentine iris, brazilian tonka bean absolute, woods. This is 20/10 it smells exquisite, projects, lasts and oozes style and sophistication. It’s dangerously sexy!

I ordered sample of this streight from the MFKs website. I sprayed once behind my neck and once on my upper neck. I liked the scent alot but my fiance said that its too strong. Yeah its strong. I drove my moms car that day and now 3 days later when she used it she said that there is very strong after shave smell. So strong that it hard for her to be on that car. My fragrance has sticked to the seatbelt and was protecting heavily from there, after three day. I would like to us it but it might be too strong for me to use. I would get fired if I wore something like this to work. Yeah, in Finland people don't want to smell your scent. People find it very offencive. I fucking hate our culture and pussyass people.

Okay after wearing this consistently for a few days I am absolutely in love with this scent!!! While this doesn’t last long on the skin you get at least 5-6 hours on skin. Maybe 3 hours of projection. But spray this on your clothes and it was last over a day!!!. My coat actually on the second day still smelled like this fragrance n I couldn’t stop smelling it. It’s very clean soapy clean but inoffensive, you can dress this up or down and honestly this is to me almost all year round scent. Summer, spring, fall, rainy weather, even winter. I will be buying this fragrance simply because I love the scent very much and it does last long on clothes.

This fragrance is super interesting and unique in my opinion. At first you think it is a classic fougere, but it also has this sweetness and powdery nature that spins it in a different direction. This is one of those fragrances that smells very different on different people. On my skin it stays fresher, with more of an emphasis on the iris and woods. However on a female friend of mine it goes super sweet, leaning heavily into the chocolate and coffee. Because of this I would say it is more unisex than male dominant. I would almost prefer this as the candle with how much it smells like an incredibly fancy hotel lobby. Another MFK banger.

Amyris is a clear, fresh woody fragrance, light without ever being flat, made for summer. It's the kind of scent that seems almost transparent at first, but hides a wild longevity, able to last all day without ever weighing on the skin. It wraps you in a fine, pleasant bubble, an almost protective feeling, discreet yet very much present. First worn on a trip to Barcelona, it instinctively became tied to that period, to the point where you can't smell it now without thinking back to it. A perfect scent for everyday summer lightness, simple in appearance but one that leaves a lasting mark, on the skin as much as in memory.

A beautiful designer aromatic and very sweet blue in a niche bottle. I still think it is worth the money because the smell is a 10/10 and I would guess not many people would be offended unless oversprayed. Despite needing a shot of insulin after every sniff like ultra male, it seems to retain an elegance to the profile. I think this would suit any age and occasion but can be easily dressed up. However, I do picture some successful asshole wearing this on a yacht with Tom ford Sunglasses and chatting up women 20years younger than them.

Nose Note #866 I won't go further than to say that this is incredibly close to Silver Mountain Water and I don't understand why noone else is picking up on this. I already have a review for SMW and like 4-5 of its dupes. This honestly just feels like another dupe. Similar quality to SMW, but sharper and sweeter, no black currant, but still has the strong metallic note. Performance is about the same as on SMW, i.e. nothing outstanding. Still a great fragrance, but I can't justify paying even more money than for Creed... 8/10, SMW dupe

Just purchased my 3rd bottles. This is a mass appealing, office-safe, versatile fragrance that personally does not remind me of any other fragrance listed. This is a sweet (but not obnoxiously so), bright fragrance that dries down to sweet, yet raw cocoa powder (not a solid milk chocolate bar). Projects and last decently, but not a monster performer - this could be a dealbreaker for some, but personally, I think it is appropriate for its usage. Does not remind me of any particular fragrance does not necessarily equate to uniqueness.

You have to sample this on skin. I first smelled this on paper and it came off rough to my nose. Like how the feeling of concrete when you run your fingers across it would smell if that was an actual smell. Strange I know but that is what came to mind as I was holding the test strip to my nose. Thank goodness the counter person forced a couple samples into my hand to take home. It made all the difference and I bought a bottle as soon as the samples ran dry.

Masterpiece of a fragrance. When i first got it i kinda hated it because i was used to the standard deisgner fragrances that are mass appealing but when i wore it for the first time i was blown away. Its sweet, smooth, spicy and masculine. The "aftertaste" it leaves in your nose is astonishing. Note composition in this one is really something. I dont get why this isnt rated higher as its easily better than many fragrances that are popular out there.

I’m not often swept away by fragrances, but this one had me babbling like an idiot at the fragrance counter. I could not stop smelling it. Despite the name, the soul of the fragrance is rich chocolate and warm Tonka Bean. Sweet (like being kissed on the cheek by a new girlfriend) but never overpowered and cloying. The effect is magnetic. Wear the when you want to get close to someone special, or draw someone closer. It’s addictive.

This stuff slaps! I love the way it smells. Its calming, reinvigorating, interesting and alluring. I love the mandarin-chocolate-amyris-iris combo which blends so good together and really gives this fragrance a character and staying power. i do howere find faint hints of something curry like but it might just be the amyris. this funk disappears quickly. i recommend layering it with Spectre Wraith - HEAVENLY COMBO - thank me later!

@Pantmantz: Francis Kurkdjian has been a top perfumer for probably longer than you have lived, so you might want to rethink your words lest they stain your character unintendedly. Also, you might want to reconsider your fragrance sources and also get your nose checked, because if there's a list for SPARKLING fragrances in the MFK portfolio, Amyris Homme EdT would be near the top, if not at the very top. Amyris Homme wears light, clean, and the amyris gives this very nice candied pine resin experience. You do smell the chocolate, coffee but they come across as thinly veiled and blended so well with this iris they are hard to distinguish. There's also this distinct smell that reminds me of sweet spicy BO, but it's so faint all it's doing is providing a little edge for me. Great fragrance for any collection.

The most underrated MFK fragrance by far imo. It's super versatile while still being uniqe and special. It's a fresh fragrance, and i think the reason it's still retains that uniqe factor is it derives it's freshnes from the amyris, not citrus or blue notes like some more annoying frags like ysl y edp. Overall a nice gentleman like fragrance which is super versatile and full bottle worthy imo

Finally got this for a very good deal. Beautiful scent, I see wearing this for day/night situations, a bit sweet for my taste but I think a versatile one. I don't know, this reminds me of Dior Homme Eau for Men, maybe with the Iris note? I get what others say that a "designer scent" for a "niche" price. Gorgeous, really good as a daily/signature scent. It's inoffensive but quite unique too; smooth, clean, and sensual all at the same time. I get some similarities to Allure Homme, but very vaguely; this is its own thing and it's done really really well. The only problem is probably the price point, I managed to get the 30ml for around $40 which is a super steal. LOVE this stuff!!!

This is an absolutely beautiful, clean man’s fragrance. Signature material. Maybe it’s not groundbreaking, but everyone will think you smell fantastic. I see many comparisons to Chanel AHSEE and, while I understand that link, AHSEE is a try-hard teenager whereas Amyris is 35, father of two, with a wine cellar. Straight to the top of my Hall of Fame!

This is crisp, fresh, and invigorating. I really love this fragrance, it smells so smoothly citrusy and clean. Super well blended, which could be a pro or a con, but in this case, I think it's a pro. I smelled the femme version of this fragrance and loved it as well. Overall rating: 9/10. So good, but so overpriced

It reminds me of the summers I lived in my youth in late 90s. It reminds me getting ready and suit up late at night and going to the seaside to meet friends, the waves hitting the beach and the smells of spring brought by a blowing wind. There's definitely something very nostalgic about this perfume... I love it!

I don't know what this comment section is all about , but i have tried many and many perfumes . This will be always the perfume that made me sign up here . This a compliment grabber Performance is outstanding The smell itself is super unique , now i know why they said niche and designers fragrances . 10/10

I want to bathe in this. Its absolutely stunning. The only downside is it does not last long. The 2ml sample that I have I will use sparingly for my own enjoyment but if I were to want others to smell it, I think having a full bottle so one could be more liberal in spraying.

This is a beautiful scent however the performance on this is poor. It projects well for the first two hours then you’re left with a skin scent once I reached the 6 hour mark it was gone off my skin. It sucks because I love this scent but man the performance is bad

i just have to write another review... this stuff slaps! extrmeely clean, effortless, sexy, powerful, alluring. its really smooth and aromatic with some chocolate and amuris undertone which make this stuf sooooooo intoxicating and sexy. I love this stuff to death!

An "if it only performed better" frag. Very clean scent but more of a sweet soap than something classic you'd get from a Clive Christian no. 1 or Silver Mountain Water, but it does not smell cheap or synthetic. It hardly lasts but it's great while it does.

Been wanting me a bottle for a minute now then I finally pulled the trigger. This stuff just smells different to anything I’ve tried I love it. It doesn’t seem to last long but it smells damn good, gonna have this in my collection for a while

Fantastic fragrance, but the performance for this price is just unacceptable. It works for around 2 hours max, then it is a faint skin scent. What a shame. Still if you want to impress someone up close, great option if money isn`t an issue.

Fresh. Masculine. Office scent. It’s very refreshing like ice and good combination of the amyris resins with the iris and rosemary, I don’t find it gourmandy at all. Lasts and projects what you need for an office day. I’ll buy this again

One of the best MFK fragrances, with a very clean and fresh effect. I get an alright performance on this, however I feel like it's not required for it to be long lasting, and it makes you yearn for the next time you feel that top note.

Beautiful, but reminds me of Davidoff cool water 1988, it has similar 90s vibe. I love Davidoff on my partner and it’s a staple in his collection, so adding a very expensive version of it does not make sense to me. Overall, stunning.

I feel like you can get what this is offering (and then some) from Montabaco Intensivo from Ormonde Jayne. Although they don’t smell exactly the same, you get a similar scent with added notes and better performance.

This is lovely. I think it's underrated, and though I purchased the extrait I prefer the edp. people around me like the aromatics. I find this better diffuses than the extrait. lasts 7+ hours easy. 9/10 for me

the negative comments must be coming from niche snobs. although this isn't groundbreaking, it's quite vibrant, fresh and far more upscale than any designer I own. one of my favorites on a cool spring morning

this is a niche quality of Bvlgari Aqva Atlantique, it has that same eggy note that turns off some people like @SuperiorScents mentioned below. But to me, it turns me on and im so addicted to that tone!

This perfume is easy to wear, people will like it, and it smells very clean, youthful, and sophisticated. To me, it’s a very unique scent. I love it; it’s one of my favorites for daily use. 10/10

If you like the general population like-ability of designer fragrances but want a little more depth in your fresh scent, get this. A safe blind buy in the niche zone and I love it personally
