Cologne Pour Le Matin

Opens with strong Bergamot (orange)/lemon combination. I would say it's most like the smell you get when you zest these two citrus ingredients for a cocktail rather than using the juice of the two. There really is a battle for dominance between both orange and lemon and each time I go in for a sniff, one seems to be slightly ahead of the other. If it were a cocktail, I would say it's a Last Word with a splash of limoncello. But that's because I don't get the thyme others have noted. Sillage is moderate but gets much closer to the skin after about 30 minutes. Still some left after about 5 hours, but you really have to get close. To me, it does not have that powerdery dry down that some of the more "mainstream" releases have. A nice one to wear in the summer if you like citrus forward and want to avoid a powder dry down, but you'll need to re-apply if you expect it to last all day. Perhaps that's why the bottle is sold in a larger volume.

This is the only cologne I’ll ever need. I bought it second-hand, from a friend who only sprayed it a few times, and gave me a 30% discount on the retail price - yay! It’s a perfect combination of lime peel, thyme and lavender. It’s a soft, pleasant, everyday scent, ideal for work, or just chillin’ at home. Since it’s a cologne, it doesn’t last long, but it comes in a huge 200ml bottle, so I can happily overspray.

this is the wrong bottle, by the way ;) this is a very cheery, smooth, uplifting way to start the day.

A burst of tart lemon and herbal aromatic bergamot leads the opening of Cologne Pour Le Matin, zesty and invigorating, like the dazzling glare of the morning sun. However, the components that truly brings the tonic feeling of a morning cologne for me are the vivid aromatic herbs. At first, the thyme and the lavender only lurks around the edge, gathering its strength. I can occasionally smell the liquorice/anise nuance of lavender. But once the thyme hits the front and dominates the scent about 30 minutes in, it might be one of the most realistic thyme accords that I've ever smelt. It's aromatic, fresh, spicy and savoury all at once. I even smell (or imagine because of the realistic thyme) something slightly salty, as if I had fresh, fragrant thyme and salt before preparing roast chicken. Cologne Pour Le Matin then softens with time, and becomes a sheer, aromatic and sweet skin scent of pillowy white musk. The sillage is soft, and the longevity is short of 6 hours. Although I don't usually gravitate to fragrances of cologne style, I did quite enjoy the natural thyme in Cologne Pour Le Matin and its overall refreshing, exhilarating feeling. I'd definitely recommend it as a natural, refined cologne as long as you enjoy citrus and aromatic herbs. I'd also recommend it as an introduction to thyme-prominent fragrances.

An exquisite citrus based scent with counterpoints of flower and herb. Evoking a bright sun-filled morning, over abundant in opportunity and adventure. Bergamot from Calabria along with lemon from Sicily harken optimistic thoughts, those of hope and enlightenment. The smell is of fresh cold-pressed juice and rinds, at once both hyper-realistic and ephemeral. Soft florals enter next, creating a powdery and whimsical effect. The indolic orange flower from Tunisia blends well with the herbaceous lavender from Provence, diffusing the sharp hesperidic opening. Finally one is able to make out the nuanced peppery facets of the included white thyme from Morocco. Cologne pour la Matin is a perfect and expertly balanced fragrance. Francis Kurkdjian has deftly blended citrus, floral and herbal to come up with one of the most indelible daywear scents imaginable. (Re-review 20)

Cologne Pour Le Matin is a sweeter inoffensive modern version of a typical cologne like 4711. It starts with fresh lemon citrusy opening with some crispy and refereshing sweetness. Later on it dries down to a watered-down version of lemon candy with a tiny tiny tiny hint of spicy. It's really comfortable to wear and reminds me a lot of school lunch break, in a sunny day and you can smell someone else's lemon biscuits, but not in a gourmand foody way. The dry down is like discreate soapy water without too much powderness, but with some floral undertone. Really nice, I would say it will be good for a workday or Sunday brunch.

Way better-than-average citrus cologne scent. I really enjoyed the interplay of the different citruses. If they made a 50ml option (or even 100ml) I'd probably pick up a bottle. But I couldn't justify the price for 200ml. I've got a ton of these sorts of scents - don't need a gallon of another ;-) . I also tested the Absolue alongside the Cologne. They're QUITE different IMO/IME. The absolue has a much deeper base to it. Net-net, I much preferred the cologne over the absolue. Make sure you test both if you're considering either!

I prefer the Absolue version over this for its inclusion of the softening and powdery violet flower. This cologne however is beautiful on its own. I get a heavier herbal/vegetal quality to this scent, and was surprised to learn it did not contain any vetiver. Perhaps the white thyme is what I am confusing for the peppery and grassy accord of vetiver. (20)

For me this smells more like lime, but it is wonderful. I normally don't care for citrus fragrances, but this one is gorgeous.

I'm only getting lavender from this on my skin. I love that smell, but there are cheaper options.

To me this smells like an upscale Prada Luna Rossa. The most notable note you can detect is lavender. It smells clean and soapy. It doesn't smell powdery to my nose. Evey time I wear this, it reminds me of the colour red, hence it's similarity to Luna Rossa I guess. The opening smells to me like there are spices in there like star anise and sometimes a little hint of onion, it's weird I know, not even in the note breakdown. But it's very likeable, clean and inoffensive. I can see this very suitable in an office setting. If you like Prada Luna Rossa, I'm sure you will like this one too. Scent - 7/10 Projection - 7/10 Longevity - 9/10 Compliments - None so far. I will edit when there is update.

This is zesty, bergamot-forward and brisky thyme. Having said that, it is a cologne--and for your money, I believe there are better options (check out any number of Ateliers). I just tried Idyllwild, and I think that has a fresh blast that is interesting, for example. I rarely bring up the topic of money because when we love, we love! So price point is individual--but I truly think this is a bit of a rip. It's not that original, and cologne styles like the Allegorias do it better with better projection/longevity while still maintaining a "cologne" style (the Ateliers are more perfumes though advertised as colognes, and often with quite varying staying powers). Try before you buy.

To me it smells like a Spanish baby cologne. Absolu du matin is so much better !

Lemongrass!! Yes, that was first thing came to my mind when I first sniff Pour Le Matin. I came back to see the notes and it actually really makes sense. Citrus from Bergamot, aromatic from Thyme, hint of spiciness from Lavender, all come to the conclusion of how Lemongrass would smell. The top note actually smell like lemongrass (30mins-1hour), then the citrus tones down, floral notes appear and get creamier before stay pretty linear till it fades away (4-6 hours). If you are a fan of Citrus, this one is for you. Bergamot dominated. Perfect for Spring/Summer.

The citrus in the beginning is pleasant but short lived. After the first few minutes have passed. The floral and herbal notes take center stage while overtaking the citrus smell from the opening. Believe it. It really does smell have a baby powder laundry detergent smell to it. Imagine waking up and putting on cozy clothes that are fresh from the dryer after getting washed. That is the smell you get with this fragrance. While the smell is nice. In my opinion this fragrance is a bit overpriced for what you're getting. 6/10

This is a straightforward, slightly elevated, conservative citrus that lends itself well to people who want a soft and simple yet still rather sophisticated scent. Very easy to wear. It doesn't last very long - turns to a skin scent quite quickly, and there are very few if any basey elements to the fragrance. Would have to wear more to get a finger on development. I'd wear this if I am looking for something completely inoffensive.

People say it smells like laundry. No. It smells like detergent. I like fresh laundry - but not detergent. It smells like a stale sugary lemon moon pie you'd buy at a convenience store. It's powdery. It's far from calm and fresh as described. I rarely dislike fragrances - I usually find them neutral, but this one is quite bad.

The opening is not very good. It smells like baby powder mixed with baby wipes. There's some citrus in there but for some reason it smells dirty and sour, far from the clean reputation it gets. It gets more pleasant in the drydown hours later but it's too little too late. Overpriced at $200 - it shouldn't cost more than 100.

First impression; it smells like clean milky soap like Prada Infusion d'Iris or pour Homme with extra light but zesty citrus floral note. It has some very subtle cool spices in it too as it stays on. I find it very clean, uncomplicated, and calm, but it seems a bit too light for me.

Cologne concentrated version of Petit Matin minus the Ambroxan. Smells more natural but makes performance plummet.
