Oud Satin Mood

I have been sitting on this perfume and exploring it for a few months, trying to decide what I think and if it’s full size worthy. This perfume is not for everyone. It’s not a crowd pleaser. Although the dry down is a lot more appealing than the initial spray which is, as others have said, a veritable bomb of rose and powder that may send some into a panic and preemptively start grabbing advil. WAIT!! There is more to this fragrance, I promise you. Once the fragrance settles a bit, the scent develops into a very clean and fresh group of notes. Like fresh laundry, but not Downy. Something much more expensive. I actually tested out this urge by spraying it on my sheets. It was positively divine. If the scent is concentrated on the skin, it can be quite potent and overwhelming still. I prefer to spray this as a cloud in front of me and walk through it rather than spraying directly on my wrist or neck. There is something very classical and refined about this fragrance. But I wouldn’t call it mature. That is, unless you think rose cannot be youthful. This carries the depth and complexity that might remind me of an older perfume except that it hits none of the old tropes. It really is a modern classic to me. The antithesis of BR540, which I consider more of a trendy scent due to its many popular dupes and similar profile scents. I think this is a feminine fragrance. It is not an influencer girl sort of fragrance, nor a “mature woman” fragrance. I think this is a fragrance for a woman who is not juvenile yet not old, who has some wisdom in her and elegance, who doesn’t chase hype. She’s not quiet but not loud or wasting her breath on too many words. Undeniably romantic. She’s smart, intellectual, but hasn’t lost her abilities in arts or the deeper social nuances of conversation. There’s a darkness, a grounded ness to this rose. Like Beauty from La Belle Et La Betê by Jean Cocteau. This will be my next full size buy. Not for special occasions, but for every day wear, so that my closet can hold traces of this scent in it. I think it’s a great fresh scent and works well in daytime (I may be the only one). I apologized to my husband when I first got in the car after putting this on- I had forgot it was nuclear. But when we embraced in a moment of intimacy, he had to tell me I smelled intoxicating.

I did not know what love was until i started testing this fragrance on at MECCA, this is one of those scents that i personally do not own but have just sprayed on so many times and feel i am in a position to review (however i havent been able to spray it in a while so my scent breakdown is going to be left quite broad). Let me just open with the fact that this is EASILY my favourite fragrance of all time without a doubt. The way everything in this fragrance is blended is BEAUTIFUL, i was not a fan of any sort of floralness in my fragrances until i smelt this, the sweetness and stunning way the rose is done in the opening is addictive, rich, unique and sweet, it then dries down woody, vanillic, while still retaining the unique touch of the rose which has transformed into a sweeter thicker blend and i genuinely cannot express how beautiful this scent is to me. I feel like this can be described as a rose version of naxos, it's rich, sweet, can be worn every day or special occasions, unique and OH MY LAWD THAT PERFORMANCE, genuinely smelt it the week after on my jacket AFTER WASHING IT, the projection on it as well is stunning, i cannot fault this fragrance and currently my rating of it, which might change after more testing is a 10/10

We bought the 200ml for my father's 60th birthday...I had no idea perfume could smell like this. My father saw how in awe I was of this perfume and he generously gave me the massive decant gift that came along with the large bottle. I had never smelled, let alone owned or worn a fragrance like Oud Satin Mood before. I could not stop smelling my clothes from that night. It smelled like some sort of insanely rich and opulent turkish delight of roses, smooth resinous oud, and breathtaking vanilla. I wore it to work and people literally told me that my office and I smelled delicious! Within a month I got myself the 70mL bottle. In a word, the dry down is heavenly. Performance is incredible, the sillage is serious enough to cut through a packed wedding hall with all manner of "Allure Homme Bored To Extreme" and "Who De Chanel?" Oud Satin Mood started my journey, and will always be special to me. The smell is to die for. It changed my life. Francis Kurkdjian is a legend and this is 2nd only to Baccarat Rouge 540 in my humble collection of what I consider to be masterpieces. Update: I had the honor of meeting Francis Kurkdjian and he graciously signed my bottles...the penmanship was especially nice on Oud Satin Mood!

I agree with Edna beneath me. It’s hard to imagine that I ever disliked this fragrance. When I went to a Perfume class and there was a rendition of this there, it made me really fall in love with it. This was exacerbated especially in the dry down. I already have silk mood but that festín mood will be next. Also crazy that this wasn’t even in my top MFK fragrances. As of this past week it definitely shot up to number one. My first three times trying this out, I felt as if it was for someone who’s in their 40s or above. Granted, this was when I first started my Perfume journey and my nose was somewhat juvenile. Now I’m no scent connoisseur but it’s safe to say that I grew to a point where I can appreciate a masterpiece and this is one of those. As simple this profile is with rose vanilla and oud, the rose is very sweet and jammy unlike any other rose on the market. The vanilla sits on top of it, making it truly a decadent profile. And it’s not your traditional oud that’s astringent, sharp and bitter, but it’s more grounded and tone down I guess for western appeal. Either way this whole fragrance is very opulent and simply one of the best rose fragrances of all time

I really don’t enjoy rose scents. This isn’t a scent I ever thought I would like, but was curious to test it due to its popularity. I’m surprised Im really loving this! "Oud Satin Mood (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" to me opens with a beautifully blended rose and silky oud. It feels feminine, luxurious, classy and sophisticated. It initially comes across as sexy and mysterious. As it dries down it turns into a sweet, creamy, candied rose with the strawberry, caramel and vanilla notes noticeable on my skin. The oud note is very subtle. I find this long lasting but soft. Perfect for spring, autumn, winter or date nights. This is a stunner! It’s really quite addictive! If you aren’t a fan of the popular "Delina (Eau de Parfum) | Parfums de Marly" type of rose scents like me (I can’t stand this type of rose!) and you enjoy scents like "La Rose | Christian Louboutin", I think you’d enjoy "Oud Satin Mood (Eau de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian". I haven’t smelt "Oud Satin Mood (Extrait de Parfum) | Maison Francis Kurkdjian" to compare, but apparently that’s more masculine leaning.

This might be my contender for my favorite fragrance ever. I got a sample of this two years ago when I introduced myself into niche, and initially i was disappointed. But it kinda grew on me. I later got bigger decants but never felt like it was good enough for the big boy bottle. A few weeks ago, I went into neiman marcus to buy sum for the summer. While I was looking around, I saw mfk, but they didn’t have nothing crazy for the summer. I ended up smelling this for the fun of it and I just had to get it. Idk what happened to my skin but every fragrance I used to think was meh is now amazing. And that’s what I love about fragrances. Your nose changes as u go on and that’s why I always give fragrances I didn’t mess with another shot. But what I get from this is rose, sweet vanilla, a hint of oud, and the perfect amount of powderyness from top to bottom. And just a drizzle of caramel in the dry down. It pretty straightforward but it’s soooo well done and just doesn’t smell real. I have a few select fragrances that give me out of body experiences and this is absolutely one of them

It’s the kind of fragrance that feels perfectly balanced — every note stands out yet blends seamlessly into a powerful rose wrapped in soft, vanillic oud. It’s effortlessly elegant. The moment you smell it, you’re transported to the 1700s, living in a grand château under a dark, moody sky just before the rain. The estate glows with warm lanterns scattered around the garden. You walk to the rose section — petals, both fresh and dried, cover the damp earth. Then the rain begins to fall, merging the scent of wilted roses, blooming flowers, and wet soil into a single intoxicating breath. From afar, your maid calls you inside — she’s prepared something, and even from where you stand, you can faintly catch its rich aroma in the air. Just then, a soft, cold breeze passes through, carrying with it everything — the roses, the earth, the rain, and that distant sweetness — blending them into one hauntingly beautiful moment. (Its so elegant now think about what i just said and put yourself in my imagination)

It opens with a fresh rose, a hint of strawberry and an almost medicinal and herbal type of freshness that isn't minty yet feels distinctly cold. Afterwards it settles into this unique, well-blended scent that is hard to describe in terms of notes. The rose in the heart is deeper but does not read jammy or overly sweet on my skin. Until now I have known oud as a smoky, earthy and leathery scent but here it is so... civilised. Or, should I say, muzzled. Oud Satin Mood feels stately. It's about to attend a grand gala and it is very serious about it. I like it a lot respect it. It is fascinating but I also know that this wouldn't suit me. Oud Satin Mood would wear me instead of the other way around. As other reviewers have already said, it has impressive longevity (in my case ca 9h) and performance, even on my skin that tends to defeat "beastmode" fragrances on the regular.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood is a rich, enveloping fragrance that feels like velvet turned into scent. It opens with a luminous blend of Bulgarian rose and Turkish rose, immediately giving a deep floral intensity that is both opulent and slightly intoxicating. As it develops, the heart becomes warmer and more sensual, where creamy vanilla softens the sharpness of the rose and wraps it in a smooth, almost edible sweetness. The base is where the “satin” idea truly appears: oud is present but polished, not aggressive, blending with benzoin and amber to create a soft woody glow rather than a raw animalic edge. The overall impression is luxurious and theatrical, like a heavy silk fabric draped in dim golden light—sweet, resinous, and deeply romantic, with a long-lasting trail that feels both modern and classically Middle Eastern in spirit.

It is a fragrance that, whilst deeply immersive, is never dark. Bulgarian and Turkish roses intertwine, holding the weight of their moist petals, before gradually melting into oud. Yet this oud does not bare its fangs. It leaves behind not roughness, but only a quiet elegance, as if dwelling within polished wood. The powdery light of violet gently envelops it all, whilst amber and vanilla spread slowly, like body heat. It is as though satin were gliding down the skin in the night. Rich yet delicate enough to vanish at the slightest touch; opulent yet never boisterous. It is the consummate realisation of the classic dialogue between ‘Rose and Oud’, reimagined with such elegance and such serenity. Deep. Very deep. Yet at its very core, a softness imbued with light is certainly alive.

This is a true masterpiece and smelling this I fully understand why people use that word to describe fragrances. Smell is sensational just high quality absolutely beautiful sweet rose and I don't directly smell oud but I feel like it lends the smell some darkness but nothing animalic or even woody to my nose, it does lean feminine a bit but that's not something I mind, and its an absolute belter in performance its not even funny. I'm typically an over-sprayer but that's completely unnecessary with this fragrance you could probably get away with 2 sprays and be smelled from feet away and you can assume the same for longevity. This is addictive I have a hard time putting my bottle down this is a true special occasion fragrance and I got nothing but praise 10/10 it checks every box

This fragrance is class. If i could pick an occasion to put this on it would be to go watch a piano solo in the opra. very juicy realistic good quality rose with precious woods that slowly starts to take the lead in the fragrance. The best Metaphor it comes to my mind to describe this fragrance is a rose desert in a michelin star restaurant, delicious, opulent yet refined and elegant. The fact this has very good longevity and projection it just makes it a 10. Where else would you find a fragrance that comes across as likable, opulent yet sophisticated and still not synthetic smelling ? On top of that put outstanding performances and a reasonable price range (240 bucks for 70ml for the ingredients it has to me it sounds very honest). No brainer if you like rose, blindbuy this.

This is less of an oud affair than the name suggests. Oud Satin Mood focuses more on the creamy vanilla + sweet rose. If we forget its popularity for but a moment, I don't think this is a typical case of the rose + oud combo that seems to be verging on omnipresence in the market. I highlight this as Oud Satin Mood may be the fragrance one imagines when they picture "rose + oud". It is well-known, but that doesn't detract from what this fragrance is and what it sought to achieve. This is exceptionally powerful. It lasts all day and then some, so you'll never be left wanting for better performance. Strictly a cold weather fragrance. Despite the high price, I consider this good value given that less is more. One of my all-time favourites.

I have to say, I absolutely love this perfume. It is funny because when I first got a sample of Satin Mood a couple of years ago, I didn’t particularly like it. But for some reason, this autumn, my sense of smell completely changed. I was going through some of my old samples, just testing them again, and I suddenly fell completely in love with it. I ended up buying the full bottle, and it is now my favourite scent of the moment. It is such a beautiful fragrance. A little bit floral, a little bit gourmand, and everything just intertwines together in the most elegant, feminine, and warm way. I guess it is time to revisit some of my other perfumes that have been sitting unused for a while...

better than the extrait in my opinion. The hype for the extrait has to be because of the beautiful bottle or something.. Cause it smells a little worse after trying both for a month.. the edp rose jammy sweetness pops up more (the whole point of this fragrance is the rose..) still maintains that dark vanillic amber base like the extrait, and what makes the extrait worse is it has more oud and it makes it a darker fragrance and it smells alot like a spray paint.. or a plasticky smell almost (although still very smooth lol) i would test both on skin for a good 3 hours before choosing one of them. both are 9.5+/10 for me in terms of what you get here though thats for sure!

I am so, so very late to the party on this one. For the longest time, I just thought "I don't like oud", so I never even put my nose to it. But recently, that has started to change, and I'm much more open to oud-rose scents. Finally tried OSM two months ago and instantly fell head over heels for it! This is a great "beginner oud rose" for someone like me, who's just dipping my toes into that realm. I don't think there's much I could write here that hasn't already been said about it... OSM is a beauty. Strong, elegant, delightful. That little tingle of strawberry and violet in the opening is a wonderful touch. And the rose in here? My goodness, it's perfect. Love it!

im such a floral girly but on the days that im not this is it for me. i think i love it so much because it gives the floral still while having that woody smell on it. i feel like for the spectrum of oud scents, this is definitely on the feminine side. im going to get poetic for a second and say that it smells like im sitting in front of a fire whilst herbs blow in through the window; mom calls for dinner but i just want to sit and let the flora wash over me, stress turning to bliss. i feel so calm with this scent, like i don't have to try for anything more. sorry not sorry but this is such a trade scent for me. if trade was wearing i would go feral

This one is a Gem. Oud Satin Mood is one of the most beautiful fragrances my nose and brain have ever experienced. Sure, there are similar perfumes on the market; however, I have yet to find one that comes even close to this masterfully blended beauty. I tend to go for the sweeter, fruity, and jammy rose fragrances. Oud Satin Mood is neither. It is a gorgeous, realistic rose; paired with a soft, lightly sweetened vanilla; a luxurious, powdery, smooth-like-satin violet; and, an easy on the nose oud. This fragrance is classy, elegant, sophisticated, and sexy. If Oud Satin Mood were a song; it would be a classic.

Out of most rose heavy scents, this, this one is the one. Placing this above my previous signature, Portrait Of A Lady even... don’t get me wrong Dominique’s work is fascinating, but what Kurkdjian did here is the most beautiful blend of rose oud. I outright hate heavy oud but this balanced it out so well, perfect for both genders, I wouldn’t say it leans either side. Smelling this on a female as a daily wear, you’ve got my attention , but when a man wears this during the night or any special occasion the amount of looks you’ll get, from personal experience is astounding...

i could see what people are saying about the oud not being strong enough. but when you approach the fragrance with the rose and violet as the main notes, and the oud to balance it out and blend it, THEN its 100% a masterpiece. are there better oud fragrances for the same price and cheaper? yes. but the oud and rose is sooooo smooth together that i almost forget im wearing an "oud" fragrance. this is my all time favorite scent and forever I will own a bottle of this in my collection. genuinely the best thing i have ever smelled in my life.
