After a few hours, projection and sillage soften but remain present. By the seven to eight hour mark, the fragrance has largely faded into a skin scent, resulting in an overall longevity of approximately five to six hours. While not exceptional, this level of performance feels appropriate for such an airy and clean scent profile. When to Wear: Petit Matin is traditionally categorized as a spring and summer daytime fragrance, and that assessment fits well. That said, its clean and comforting profile makes it versatile enough for nearly any situation. Whether worn casually, formally, for special occasions, or in an office setting, Petit Matin feels appropriate and easy to wear, never demanding attention but always feeling polished. Blind Buy: Petit Matin is not a guaranteed safe blind buy due to its more pronounced floral presence compared to some other MFK offerings. Those who are particularly sensitive to florals may want to approach with caution. However, if the idea of a fresh laundry scent accented by soft white florals appeals to you, this is absolutely worth sampling. Final Verdict: My experience with Petit Matin closely mirrors my time spent with 724, as both fragrances center around a bright, clean, fresh laundry style DNA supported by citrus and florals. I praised 724 as one of the best executions of this profile I have encountered, but the same can easily be said here. Where Petit Matin ultimately wins me over is in its softer dry down, which avoids the metallic musk note that I personally found distracting in 724. The two fragrances share similar performance and overall structure, but Petit Matin feels slightly more natural and comfortable on my skin. For that reason, owning both would feel redundant, and if I had to choose between them, Petit Matin earns the spot. It may not be an immediate purchase, but it has comfortably replaced 724 on my buy list. What a beautiful unisex summer scent. Like the commenter below, Petit Matin smells next-level citrus-soapy on my skin. It’s extremely fresh and clean, almost like the world’s bougiest dish soap (I swear that I mean that in the best way possible). It’s got slight hints of slightly creamy florals and even a faint aldehydic note in the background, but other than that, a fairly linear scent profile that doesn’t really develop much. Overall, think of a lemon meringue pie being served to you alongside high tea at the Mandarin Oriental—that’s the vibe of this scent in its entirety. I will say that some younger people (teenagers to mid 20s) might find this a bit mature for their liking, but don’t let it stop you from testing it out. The nice thing about this fragrance is that even though the actual scent is light and fragrant enough to never be overpowering or headache-inducing, it actually lasts like crazy. Like seriously, this is one of the best performing citrus-forward colognes in my collection. On my skin, it projects arm’s length 4-6 hours after spraying, and remains as a beautiful skin scent for up to 12 hours. As such, it’s become one of my favorite summer options for long days where I know re-applying is not feasible. I’ve been struggling to find a fresh fragrance in MFK’s collection that suited me—honestly, most of them smelled like something I would spray to freshen my room instead of use as a cologne. Thanks to Petit Matin, I can put that problem at ease. How beautifully crafted and perfectly balanced.

I will start by saying, I am not a fan of typical cologne. That “generic mens cologne smell” is the furthest thing from my interest. That’s why I don’t understand when people say Petit Matin is “nothing speciall”. And there are “cheaper alternatives” but list few examples as to what these alternatives are. Maybe they are referencing Dua or cheapies that resemble Petit Matin but come nowhere near the performance? I am unsure as I have never smelled anything quite like this. It’s just absolutely the perfect green, clean spring/summer scent with above average performance. 8+ hours on me. I’ve smelled Mugler Cologne. I’ve smelled Creed Original Vetiver. I own JV Artisan, Gallagher Bergamust, and Dior Homme Cologne. I’ve smelled so many clean, white floral scents, and this to me is the most amazing of them all. The ambroxan note is just a steller base here. Not harsh in the least which is surprising. The lemon is also not harsh nor tart. Just smooth. And can we talk about the orange blossom note in this? One of my absolute fave notes done here to perfection. I also love the smell of fresh lavender, nailed here perfecty as well. Absolutely unisex, although the musky base makes it lean masculine. I still want to smell this on my lady. But I love it so much on myself. So wearable. So fantastic. Underated in my humble opinion. Versatile and up there with the best. You can’t go wrong with this scent.

Petit Matin is a very fitting name for this fragrance, translating to 'early morning'. This smells like waking up to a sunny spring morning, with a gentle breeze blowing through freshly laundered sheer curtains. I'm not sure if anyone washes their curtains, but this has very clean and uplifting notes of citrus and musk which create that impression of high-quality fabric softener. The opening is slightly screechy, but after 30 minutes it mellows out to a lovely, elegant clean scent. It shares the same vibe as 724, but executes it better in my opinion, as 724 has some indolic facets which aren't my favourite. This is unisex, slightly leaning feminine. I'm not a girl, but I can semi-confidently say this suits the clean girl aesthetic, it's perfect for someone who wants to smell clean and refined in a subtle way. I still enjoy wearing it, but I'd much rather smell it on a woman. Performance is decent, the reason why I ended buying Petit Matin was its longevity on the tester strip. For some reason, a couple of MFK's creations last and project forever on their pieces of paper - I genuinely used Grand Soir and L'homme A la Rose as room diffusers. Unsurprisingly, it didn't have the same effect on my skin, but it's still passable for this kind of scent profile. Smell: 8/10 Performance: 6.5/10 Presentation: 7.5/10 Value: 6.5/10 Overall: 7.5/10

I always refer to this perfume as "Morning in Paris". And not like I've been to Paris and know what mornings there like, but that's how I would imagine that. Growing up in Europe, I loved having early morning breakfasts in different cafes with a nice city view. Living in Toronto now - you won't find a place like this, nothing that charming here. So imagine - the sun just came up, the air is still a bit cool but you can feel the first sun rays touching your skin. You are taking a walk to a small cafe in your neighborhood and the more you go into the day, the more excited you are about what's ahead of you. You are sipping on your tea with a lemon slice in it and just inhaling that scent of fresh-cut lemon makes you close your eyes and smile for a second. And don't forget about the lavender bouquet on the table, that calming and soft scent marrying that lemon slice in your tea. Can anything be better? I am not a fan of citrusy scents, in fact, I never get attached to them and never spend hours sniffing on my wrist when I use them. But Petit Matin is very special and it was a love from first sight. I came to buy another sweet Kilian and while waiting for my SA to wrap it up, I decided to test some scents from the brand everyone is talking about but I've never tried. And I am still in love 3 years later.

This starts with a blast of dry citrus and some, what smells a lot to me like, petitgrain. A touch of lavender. It’s almost a light fougere. Maybe it is. Probably not. The bitter top notes fade over an hour or so to reveal a slightly warmer yet fresh powdery-amber-musk scent that is just this side of feminine, but can be unisex. No offense intended to anyone, but calling this a citrus scent is a bit off. Sure, there’s citrus but it’s just a tenth of what’s going on here. If I had to sum this up in a catch-all category I’d say herbal-powdery-woody-oriental. This is long lasting and moderate in projection. I’m sure this type of scent is easy to find anywhere but there is something about the way MFK blends and constructs fragrance that sets this a notch above a lot (most) of the others. I sprayed some right on the little white card the sample comes in and a day later it’s mostly ambroxan, but not simple at all. There’s still a herbal type of note in there that makes it a bit more interesting. Maybe a woodiness, but just a hint. As with other Kurkdjian fragrances, it’s complicated. I can easily see myself spending a few hundred bucks with them in the next couple months. Buy from the website because you get a beautiful presentation and free atomizer samples.

This is pure ambrox with musk and a touch of neroli to give it a clean edge. I think it's great, light soapy florals and the ambrox adds a rich addictive quality (one I haven't experienced anywhere else). It grew on me pretty quickly. Petit Matin (Little Morning) directly contrasts Grand Soir (Grand Evening), the sweet ambery vanilla fragrance. These two perfumes summarize french culture pretty well, with the morning being a time for calm and modesty - eating pastries at the local cafe, watching birds, etc. And on the other hand, the evenings were reserved for big dinners and social outings. I believe that's what Francis Kurkdjian was trying to express with this perfume. Both this and Grand Soir are masculine perfumes in my opinion (the ambroxan makes it masculine ). The performance is weak by nature because of the notes being used here. But you can still smell it on skin after 8 hours. Humid weather makes the ambrox shine quite beautifully. The soapy neroli is more pronounced in the colder weather. Wonderful and unique fragrance, I think it's worth having this and Grand Soir and wearing them morning/evening everyday. And throw in one of the aqua cologne fortes somewhere in between. You would smell impeccable.

I usually don ́t like scents heavy on lemon. Musc can turn to a rubber scent on my skin. I don ́t like lavender either - not even in the garden. Therefore, I was not really attracted by the pyramid here on Fragrantica. But this is something else! At first, I get a burst of fresh airy, very light and almost powdery lemon. The musc and the flowers blend so well together and form a soft and clean, almost fresh laundry smell, grounded and warm, yet playful. It ́s like warm clean cotton sheets hanging in the garden amongst flowers on a sunny day. The scent is pretty linear and the lemon fresh turns more woody and herbal during the day. Still a feminine scent to me. I can ́t stop smelling my arm! It ́s a calming and relaxing scent, and will probably not offend anyone. The ambroxan is not in my face, blends in well. I really love, love this scent. The only negative is the poor sillage - I wish it could project more for this price tag, but it stays close to the skin. Lasting is 8h+ on skin. I can highly recommend ordering a sample set from MFK's official website. Just 14 EUR (shipping included) for 4 different scents x 2 ml and 100% legit.

A delicious, kinda sexy freshie. Perfect for the sticky, sweaty heatwaves we've been having recently. It's subtle and fresh, without being too "sharp" or "clean" or just "too much". You get a nice hint of that Sicilian lemon with a bit of lavender. I don't get much orange blossom here. The ambroxan is REALLY strong from start to end, and gives the perfume this sexy, musky, mineral vibe. Bang-in-the-middle unisex. I'm tempted to say poor performance, but actually I think it's maybe just a very soft projection. The longevity is poor-average (especially considering that price, whew), about three hours on a very hot sweaty day. But on a hot and sweaty day, I can't think of anything else I'd rather wear more. Will think about whether I want a full bottle of this, but in the meantime, will milk my 5 ml decant well. 9/10 - Edit: I bought a bottle for my mother, who loved it even more than I did, and when she sprays it on her clothes, I actually do get 1 to 2 arms’ length of sillage from her! So yes, on clothes, pretty good performance.

I guess I must be weird, most perfumes don’t last on me but this one lasts a long time and it’s so beautiful. On my skin I get mostly citrus and orange blossom. The opening is just amazing. And it stays that way for hours. Most perfumes that other ppl claim lasts all day on them, lasts maybe an hour on me but this one ppl are saying it’s weak and laundry like and doesn’t last. Not on me. The scent is strong, beautiful and it lasts all day almost and I managed to snag it for $145 on MaxAroma when they had their 20% off on all MFK. Which they’re having again this week. I’ve been eying Amyris femme for a long time now. I should buy it as who knows when I will ever see any MFK for under $150 a bottle. Every time I wear Petit Matin I get so many compliments. One spray on my hand was enough for everyone to notice. “What a beautiful scent” is what I get. And I agree. It is feminine and so beautiful but I honestly can’t see a straight man pulling this one off.

Petit Matin starts with a bright and gleeful lemon, then dries down into a beautiful musk and freshly cleaned, warm, out-of-the-dryer laundry. from the sample it didn't seem to last as long as I'd expect. I usually only purchase colognes that will make it through the workday. nonetheless I had to have such a happy smell. I liked it too much to go without, and I'm glad I picked up this little treat. I usually wear 3-5 sprays depending on the cologne and the atomizer. what prompted me to rewrite my review is the longevity from a full bottle. unlike the sample, this juice has been thriving for 6 to 9 hours on my skin through the day. Even I find that hard to believe, but I'm happy to report that this happy cologne makes me very happy for a very long time. without a doubt, this is my favorite MFK. I think it's underrated but growing in appreciation. for me, this is an easy 9/10 and I couldn't be.....happier ;)

Initially, I may have underestimated its allure, but considering the latest fresh releases from MFK, this one distinctly stands out. While it carries a hint of masculinity, I wouldn't strictly label it as a masculine fragrance. Wearing it, I enjoy a lasting impression of 6-8 hours, with intermittent wafts of its invigorating aroma. It serves as a refreshing boost, particularly with its vibrant, sparkling notes, offering a lift just when the day seems to drag on. Ultimately, investing in a full bottle, preferably a larger size than the standard offering, is a decision I wholeheartedly endorse. I anticipate it will shine even brighter during the crisp mornings, providing a rejuvenating commencement to the day.

This was actually the first niche fragrance I smelled. I was blown away by how a fresh citrus fragrance could smell this fantastic. Never had I smelled a fragrance that could smell like the most luxurious soap or laundry detergent while still being this smooth. It was literally the most luxurious fresh fragrance I’ve ever put my nose to. Fast forward a few years and this is still my favorite freshie, even though I have a more developed nose and taste. Don’t hold fresh fragrances to the same standard as the darker, heavier ouds/orientals/ambers etc... this is not supposed to be complex or last and project like crazy. If you just want to smell fresh and clean with a touch of luxury then this is for you.

Francis Kurkdjian is my favourite perfumer, and almost all of his creations for MFK are true gems, although they are not exceptionally original: instead, he usually takes a well known idea and then shows everybody how it's done. Hence his creations are quite mainstream and familiar, only ten times better than anything that's currently on offer. Take for example Petit Matin: this is a unisex citrus fragrance, built around the notes of lemon, orange blossom and lavender on a musky base - nothing special, and yet it is so beautiful in its simplicity and remarkably powerful that it absolutely surpases all other fragrances in the same 'everyday citrus' category. I love it!

This is my favorite fresh fragrance right now! The lemon opening is nice, not too citrusy but just right. But what makes me really love this fragrance is the dry down. It smells like the cleanest, most luxurious laundry you've ever smelled in your life. On one hand I feel that this fragrance should receive more attention in the fragrance community and in general but on the other hand I love that I don't smell it on everyone which keeps me from growing tired of it (not wearing it everyday also helps). The fragrance community can go on loving Baccarat Rouge and Gentle Fluidity Silver; I'll stick with Petit Matin, my favorite from MFK.

Like opening the window at first light and smelling a grove of citrus on the breeze with a touch of lavender in the distance. Completely uplifting and truly brightens my mood. I bought the discovery set so I could spend some time with each scent and this is becoming one of my favorites. Would be happy to wear Petit Matin all summer! It doesn’t have any of the soapy or synthetic notes that often turn me off from clean scents. Also, nice projection for a few hours without being overwhelming. Scent of the Night is MFK's Petit Matin. Opens bright, citrusy and floral with more than a hint of neroli although it's not listed in the note breakdown. The soapy cleanliness comes from the orange blossom and the ambroxan, settling down to a muted musky warmth. Performs well enough with the musk anchoring the quickly dissipating citrus notes and providing the required longevity. Very pleasant and easy to wear and not likely to invite any dislike but not exactly original either. Quite often compared to Xerjoff's Nio and Le Labo's Bergamote 22. I can see why this is so but the differences are nevertheless quite apparent.

So I bought the 11ml bottle and when I first smelled it, I thought it was quiet generic and meh, so I stopped wearing it. A few weeks later I tried it again and it smelled amazing, it instantly became my favourite fresh scent. It's citrus, but not a super bright citrus, and the dry down is my favourite, it's soft and musky and you can still smell the freshness. I also feel like it somehow smells a little bit sweet, like fruity sweet, but only a teeny bit. I wear it almost everyday for work, it stays for about 5 hours (1 hour outdoor and 4 hours indoor activity). Now, I'm buying the full 70ml bottle!

Really impressive lasting power for a citrusy fragrance. Smell very nice, fresh and unlike a lot of other citrusy florals in which the citruses are prominent mostly in the opening, but then subside and floral notes take over, this one maintains a lovely balance between the two accords, which I really enjoy. The floral notes and the musk nicely tone down the usual citrusy sharpness, making a really pleasantly smelling harmonic scent. It is unisex, I'd say, leaning towards feminine a bit more. On my skin it lasts longer than most of my fragrances and the sillage is pretty good too.

This is, in my opinion, my ideal citrus. It’s not so sharp that it’s off-putting, yet not so sweet that it seems fake. It has a beautiful musky drydown and overall just plays very well with my skin chemistry. Today, I finally ran out of my testers and decided to just go for it and purchase the full bottle with no regrets. To my nose, it hits “unisex” right on the mark. I don’t find that it leans too masculine or too feminine. If you’re looking for a refreshing citrus to wear in warm weather, Petit Matin may be the way to go for you.

Oh man I just love this so much. Desperately trying to find something the same but cheaper for when my decant runs out. This replaced my obsession with Aerin Limone di Sicilia when I heard about the child labour. (Glad the cost made me pause on the purchase - seriously if they’re essentially stealing the materials, how can they justify the cost??) Anyway, this is pure joy, without shame. I bought a decant of Chopard Happy Lemon Dulce, and it is definitely not as luxurious as MDK :( I might have to bite the bullet with petit matin!

Perfection! I see what FK was trying to accomplish and he did just that. I get it! This makes me happy, calm, and radiating with positive energy. It's insane to get such a reaction from a fragrance, but yes, that does all that for me. This (and Aqua Vitae Forte) are sunshine in a bottle. The balance between the creamy white floral & citrus notes is faultless. It's simple but brilliant. Don't expect crazy projection from this; I don't think it would suit the fragrance. This is exactly what it should be--no more no less.

70/100 honestly SO iconic, it’s unlike anything else, it’s so... itself. starts very sharp lemony, especially from up close, which I disliked. Although not too long after the lemon went away and left a very nice unique scent that I got sniffs of from time to time. The scent has a lot of character imo. Overall a subtle and inviting “not cologne” scent. i imagine a cute, yellow flower, the common one, next to old school laundry drying lines. it’s kinda nostalgic in a way. love it for what it is.

Out of my numerous years of sampling, and hundreds of testers smelled, this is my all time favourite fragrance. I am a lover of white floral fragrances. this is so easy to wear as i has no weird animalic undertones that can be found in so many other white florals, it’s suitable for any occasion, and any season. i’ve yet to find a single person who gets offended, or even dislikes this fragrance. this fragrance embodies elegance and cleanliness Longevity: 5-6 hours Silage: sits close to the skin

I've had a bottle of this for some time now and neglected to post a review. Petit Matin isn't a beast, doesn't have multiple phases, won't cause women to faint or disrobe, probably won't draw many overt compliments. But what it does exhibit is a simple accord ('floral lemon tonic'??), delivered in the best way possible. I'm no perfumer but it surely takes a special skill, ingredients, blending etc etc to deliver such an exquisite experience. Simple, and simply outstanding. 5/5

Bright and sparkling lemon, soft creamy orange blossom. Musk and lavender to make it so soft. For the kind of fragrance it is, it performs very well and should be commended for it. The Italian lemon remains fresh for a noticeably long time. The lemon continues to remain present while it balances with everything else and it all combines together to have some legs. A true superior to Neroli Portofino. AAAABSOLUTELY under rated MFK fragrance. I will always have a bottle of this.

Love love love this !! This Citrusy dna is quite common but this one is the best I have ever smelled. It lasts all day and it gets better the longer I wear it. The nicest lemony and musky smell. Nothing irritating about it. It’s honestly so nice. The best citrus perfume out there if you like it musky and soft. Great projection and with heat it just radiates like crazy. This perfume reminds me of a baby cologne I used to wear as a child (Nenuco) but for adults.

This is the most spring scent I've literally ever smelt. The lemon shines bright in the beginning and continues to linger in the dry down, however with that being said, the florals come out much more in the dry down which is interesting for sure. It really does make you feel refreshed and energised. Super easy to pull off for any woman and I'd be delighted to smell it on others! I keep going back to smell it because it really does something special to me.

One of my favorite fragrances for the spring and start of summer! Oh what a lovely, innocent scent this is! Picture yourself in a luxurious hotel on an estate somewhere in Southern Europe. You wake up, open the windows and see the lemon trees outside of your window. Not far from your window there's a woman hanging up the laundry - clean white sheets. Longevity and sillage are not amazing but it's a scent that makes me very happy

This is the first time in my whole 40 years of age I can use and tolerate a perfume that has Lavender!! Usually I get instant headaches from Lavender scent in perfumes.. but this is very different and I'm glad as this perfume is my new obsession. Fresh citrus smell hugged by flowers and musky at dry down. A very spring / summer perfume. This is by far my favorite perfume from Masion Francis Kurkdjian.. highly recommend 👌

I absolutely love this fragrance. Super clean, citrusy, and fresh. It's well-blended and intoxicating. Pretty good projection for the first couple of hours. Dries to a gorgeous musky, floral skin-scent. Totally agree with what Antwoine said below, "I always prefer a great scent over performance." This is one of the best MFK fragrances. Easy to wear. Compliment-getter. Very safe for work/office. 9/10.

this is so comforting, clean, sexy, inoffensive, and just feels like im sitting on the french countryside or italian lakefront, sun shining, slight breeze with white sheets airing out as i eat baguette, fig and raspberry jam or enjoying fresh tomatoes and lemon in a sundress. i just love it! its march and i cant wait to continue to wear this throughout the spring and summer. very elegant and refined

Petit Matin by MFK is a soft , clean , citrusy and musky scent. I have nothing bad to say about it. Performance are ok but I think this perfume is meant to be intimate so that’s ok. If your looking for a clean , musky , citrusy scent with a touch of vanilla and floral notes , this perfume might be for you. I always prefer a great scent over performance. Great things can’t last forever.

Let’s consider the name Petit Matin (“little morning”) when we talk about the longevity of this beautiful fragrance. My interpretation is that it’s not supposed to last all day. On the MFK website they market it together with Grand Soir (“grand evening”), so to me, you don’t want Petit Matin to last all day because you want to wear Grand Soir in the evening. Makes perfect sense to me.

this is a very calming perfume that is unique but not at the same time? its just very fresh and a very linear scent profile. what u smell in the opening is what you get throughout. also has about a 5-6 hour longevity with decent projection. these are meant for a nice coffee brunch or a morning breakfast. it does have a very nice smell but just not worth the price point..

Petit Matin is fresh, clean and mind uplifting daytime fragrance. On me it is quite musky but the musky sharpness is held in check by the lemon freshness which reminds me on cumin at times. Although I am not a big fan of lemons, lavender or cumin in perfumes, I have to admit that together they smell very put together and sophisticated here. A surprise. Very wearable.

This is the best citrus fragrance in the world. It not only smells amazing as a morning walk in the spring garden full of sun, but it makes you feel full of sun. Chapeau bas MFK! PS. I tried a lot of perfumes listed as similar, and none of those were the same. No other perfume made me feel happiness except the original Petit Matin.

I did not expect to like this as much as I did. It starts out truly unisex, maybe even leaning a tad masculine for my personal taste. Then after an hour the lemon and orange blossom combine with the musk and it becomes a slightly creamy delicious yet crisp and fresh scent that leans towards feminine. Very chic and sophisticated.

This is so clean I almost get pool chlorine of the highest quality. I love it! BTW to the reviewer below saying they get tortillas, that would be the orange blossom. I get that in a few different fragrances that are heavy on orange blossom, but here it is blended beyond my sensitivity level.

Zesty and creamy morning scent. Comforting and bright, Petit Matin is a delicate, yet persistent citrus fragrance. I generally do not like lavender notes in perfumes, but this one is quite naturally beautiful. Outstanding MFK quality and signature. Versatile and Unisex. Highly appreciated.

This smells exactly like Jlo Still. I have both of these fragrances, I would say the only difference is Still has better performance. They are both fresh, feminine, soft citrus fragrances and I love them both. However, IMO, I would not repurchase MFK given the over the top price tag.

This is the perfume that I really enjoy wearing in the summer. The freshness of lemon, the soapy touch of orange blossom, and the crisp, clean scent give me a warm and sunny feeling as if the sunshine is bathing me. That's probably what a summer morning in Paris feels like.

The ultimate summer fragrance. The top notes are reminiscent of fresh lemons overflowing with juice, and the last notes are beautiful with clean white flowers and the cool herbal scent of lavender. A wonderful fragrance that is comforting to smell on any hot day.

I'm really enjoying this perfume. IIt's a lovely, fresh, spring/summer citrus, but not run of this mill. There's a bit something more to this one. It's giving rich ladies who brunch vibes. Started with a sample, now I'm on to a decant. Full bottle worthy? TBD

My current favorite fragrance for spring and summer. It perfectly reminds me of the morning in Paris. It is similar to most citrus and clean classic fragrances, but it still has its own charm. I just love it so much except for its poor longevity and sillage.

My summer signature scent! She’s just summer in a bottle and I feel fresh, clean, and pretty when I wear it. I get the citrus and orange blossom for sure on my skin and notice I get the best longevity on freshly exfoliated and hydrated skin. Love it!

this stuff projects insanely. came into a large room, at school, somebody told me they smelled something that smelled of flowers and citrus across the hall. (give or take 10-20 meters away) smells very fresh and clean, i love this stuff tbh
