Neroli Animalis

I found it extremely difficult at first (it is!), although I tend to like challenging perfumes. I thought I smelled too much like flowery private parts, some cheese too on my skin. When testing the perfume on my husband's skin, orange blossom predominates and I began to appreciate it in a different way. Suddenly I had finished my 3 ml sample... and I thought what happened? This extremely animal perfume catches you little by little, like when you get used to the intimate smell of a person and you can no longer ignore it. Ankle skin, neroli, orange blossom, someone may wonder who wants to smell like that? Well I! It seems to me a sublime composition that I have finally added to my collection

In this review I ́ll not describe the perfume (just a little). I ́m just gonna say that I first rated it as like. But for a week I regreted that and today I ́m changeing it to love. Why? At the time I revewed it, it was to special. Sitting in my appartment gave me the wrong feeling. This perfume is outdoors, it ́s meadows, it ́s horses, it ́s gravel roads and mutch more. And yes it ́s great, but I think it ́s hard to wear in a modern city. Go out on the country side or a small town and it ́s way better, it ́s wonderful. I ́m so happy to have this one :)

On a tester strip it does not shine. The opening is a little bit sour and citrusy and that's it. But on skin, dear God, on skin this is really animalic. I'm not sure if the real pissy tone is from the ambergris or there is civet representing the "animalic tones". The further it dries down the more animalic it gets until there is nothing left but this pissy, really dry and stingy note. I like it until I don't and then I go for another whiff and so on. It's addictive. Do not blind buy this. If your skin chemistry is like mine, you might hate it. P.S. For me it had become unwearable and this coming from a guy that loves Nishane Africa Olifant, Zoologist Hyrax, The Night, Oudh Infini, Varanasi etc.

I find this quite beautiful and interesting. Alluring and mysterious. But in some ways, it feels like an intellectual fragrance more than a purely FELT fragrance. There is one note running through it — I think it's the geranium — that takes this scent to a sharper place. Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful. But I need my scents to draw people in, and this one is more like you've become a painting on a wall being regarded and admired — but not held.

Found this brand on sale with a price of 60 euros for 100ml, so I decided to give it a try and test all 6 I could find in the store on blotters, and choose two winners to give them a skin test. This is by far my favorite that deserves a review Animalic, polarizing, challenging. The smell of a deadly predator that was locked up in a cage in a circus to perform for a crowd. The smell is a mix of both your sense of superiority, because the most dangerous cats in the world are here to amuse you, but at the same time, survival instincts you were born with scream to you that you have to run. Smelling this, you hear the roar, the dread, and the adrenaline kick. It’s a play on the visceral part of the human that makes you both curious but distant from the source of this smell However, on my skin, it performs not as I expected. Initially, it was too much of bergamot sourness and greens for the kind of composition, and then it became completely different from what I’ve described above: now it smells like a baby-tiger washed with musky and powdery gel with a flower odor. It’s much less offensive and almost not controversial than I expected of it based on the initial opinion Though the bottles are crap and half of the tested ones leaked in my hand, I found Neroli Animalis to be an interesting experience for the price. Probably, this and other fragrances of the collection are not for the skin but should be applied on clothes for better performance. Anyway, a smell of a big cat for 60 euros, including the discount, makes it worth considering a purchase

If I did a blind test and had to guess at least the brand that made it. It's screams TAUER. If my memory is not wrong Le Maroc Pour Elle or something from Sotto La Luna line. Very deep, dirty orange blossom and neroli, incense-y, smoky. Not my style.

Neroli and civet, an unusual combination. It kind of works and kind of doesn't. The civet makes it feel very 70s old school, like everything from this retro brand. The neroli is the rounder orange flower/white floral variety rather than cool, green or smoky. This one may have castoreum too. It's a bit perverse. The blending isn't seamless which makes it a curiosity. On skin an offbeat, aromatic petitgrain and geranium jar with everything at first as neroli, civet and castoreum bloom giving a brief ripe French cheese moment (yikes!) with underlying ambergris-like saltiness. Then the pissy civet takes up the baton with the geranium and jasmine and Neroli Animalis develops into a classic heavy animalic floral. You need to be open to the murkier end of the animalic spectrum for this one. This is striving for something like Jean Desprez's Bal à Versailles or Papillon's Salome or Marlou's Carnicure but falling short of the mark for me. I enjoy fuzzy animalics but I don't need another inferior Salome .
