No.02 Le Long Fond

Well this is just lovely! It smells like sitting in a wood cabin with a fresh Christmas tree next to you. It's woody. It's slightly spicy. It gets better on dry down. I do think of this fragrance as more of a winter scent - but I think you could get away with wearing it in the fall and spring. I think it's wonderful and will probably come back to this one as my go-to winter scent. It's got cozy sweater and warm cup of tea vibes. But it could also be a chopping wood on a rainy autumn day kind of a vibe or strolling through the forest in the early spring. I wish it had a little more staying power & sillage, but otherwise I think this is perfect.

I am absolutely obsessed with this scent. Like Toshiba mentioned, it smells like entering a floral shop that's cutting freshly cut stems, fresh laundry, and a slight hint of cannabis. Very green, woodsy, slightly musky, but very bright. Feels like spring. The scent deepends as time goes by, and smells amazing when it heats up on the skin. Unfortunately the scent never lasts as long as I would like, and it fades away at about 2 hours on me. I apply constantly. I'm curious to know how the parfum would perfom versus the oil, but I do like how it sits on my skin. Will repurchase when I run out.

Smells really nice, clean, its definitely unisex, but SLIGHTLY favors male, in between unisex and "more male". It takes a moment to dry down but once it does it smells great, clean, and fresh. I wish it had more performance, even though it is a oil roll on, it just didn't project enough. my friends caught me sniffing my arm and embarrassingly, I had to explain to them that i got this roll on, and I slowly started to realize that I really liked this scent. if anyone has any recommendations thats similar to this but more masculine please dm me, i would love to try something similar!!

This is my scent. To really get it you have to let it sit on you for awhile. The green notes dry out a bit and turns into a more smooth and wood forward fragrance. Like a forest drying off after a heavy rain to the point where the ground dried and becomes cracked. The patchouli is there, but the hinoki balances it very well.

Smells exactly like walking through a conservatory. Humid green stems, vegetal, but not sharp. Like walking through a rainforest during a soft rain.

10:25 - Like fresh cut stems and laundry detergent. Very pleasant. 10:50 - It deepened for a bit and has now gone distractingly soapy. I think I smell the patchouli, but only barely. 12 - Dies down into a amber-woody scent that is pretty great but I would love for it to be stronger. Take that with a grain of salt, though, because I'm heavy handed with the smell goods. 1:30 - Resprayed because why not. Ended up wearing it three times in a row before my sample ran out. I'd still only categorize Le Long Fond as a "like", not a "love", but there's a lot to be said for a perfume that will fit many moods and isn't obtrusive. Must be reaching for it for a reason.

Maison Louis Marie has established itself as a reliably well-crafted brand in my opinion; I've yet to be disappointed by one of their offerings. Le Long Fond is a richly arboreal creation, heavy on the coniferous and woody notes with a large dose of patchouli and cedar. It's pure forest. There's some light musk that lends a bit of airiness to what would otherwise be an imposingly dense composition. It's very nice alone, and perfect for layering. In spite of the depth of the notes, I don't think this oil projects quite as much as some of their others, and it's not particularly complex, but for lovers of natural outdoorsy scents, this is great.

i love the initial roll on. lovely, green, wet, reminds me of visiting the washington rain forests. i wish it had more stay. fleeting, so i pair it with something deep and leathery underneath, usually fischersund no 23 and it grounds it a little more.

Smells like Neosporin!!!! Edit: Reminds me of wet, green forests. I wish the fresh green note stayed around longer, but it dries down long-term to a fresh white musk.

I agree with Jam Time below- it does smell like Christmas! Very bright clean coniferous sent. Unisex. Great for layering.

Some great Hinoki top notes in this one. I smell the Hinoki, possibly Fir, Cedar and or Cypress at first. This one was a pleasant and bright surprise when it arrived in the mail. I didn't think they would be able to sustain the Hinoki vibe for much longevity as when I make oils with pure Hinoki essential oils, it is extremely fleeting in longevity. This uses a good backbone of green and woody notes to make it seem like that Hinoki vibe lasts longer. The Hinoki top notes in this does dissipate extremely quickly (within 20 mins) so it may be some natural plant Hinoki essences and oils in the top notes. The base in this holds me with the heavy Cedar that kicks in and the musk is very faint in the presence with more wood notes in it that makes me feel more comfortable wearing it as a man. I'm surprised Vetiver isn't listed as a note in here as it seems like there is some detected mixed in the base beneath the Heavy Cedar presence in the bottle I have. It actually smells to me like they may have swapped the Patchouli I'm not detecting much of with Vetiver? It is a very lovely and natural smelling Cedar as well with help from the grassier Vetiver and Hinoki notes. I bought a small bottle, I think I should get the bigger one due to my love of Hinoki essential oils. I want to explore layering this on Oud essential oils as well.

Here's another example of 'good marketing wins'. You've gotta wait 10 mins for it to settle then make unbiased judgment with their Hinoki Woods marketing erased from your olfactory input and brain. You'll discover that it's just clean patchouli mixed with some light woody cipriol oil.

Starts off like a gentle breeze through a hinoki garden, but gradually the patchouli overwhelms, which I can not tolerate

This one was a scrubber for me : There was something in this that was awful on me.

Maison Louis Marie has been a great discovery this season--I started out with s Sephora clean perfumes sampler kit, and the Maison Louis Marie scent included (#4) was the winner of those 6, but then I ordered from their own website and got # 2, # 10 and # 11 as well as the Antidris Cassis. I have finally found my fragrance home. I like the oils, as the dosing is subtler, and they layer really well. My absolute favorite is La Themis (# 11), not yet in Fragrantica, and I like to layer it with the cassis, or the # 2 Long Fond, which is very sandal-woody but in an elegant way, or # 10 Aboukir, which is a dry woody reminiscent of an Aoud.

This was really attractive at first sniff- spicy/woody/cedar- out of the bottle, but after wearing it for about 1/2 hr, it overwhelmingly reminded me of bug spray! Particularly OFF!
