my opinions about this just keep changing at first it was love at first sniff pure solar creamy realistic mango juice and i decided then and there smelling it on a tester strip in that the store that i'm gonna buy this later on discounters later i bought a 30ml (which i'm suggesting for you to do the same cause this is summer strictly only and for plenty of other reasons) i wore it and tested it out but that tuberose was a little bit not for me and so idk if on my skin the tuberose was a tiny bit bad like my skin chemistry just doesn't work well with it or overall i just don't like tuberose at all but still it was amazing with sandalwood, a little bit of spiciness and that creamy mango juice its really mature and sophisticated definitely perfumed by 4 perfumers and really captures that ipanema 1965 vibe as written but as you've probably seen that all of the 4 perfumers are women and not being sexist but as expected this kinda leans feminine imo and in the dry down it gets a little bit more unisex but still a tad bit feminine imo and so i kinda didn't really like it BUT it has kinda grown on me since and i've changed my mind for it to be dead center unisex and somehow someway rn i'm in love with the tuberose thats in this i adore this rn but as i was saying i feel that this just isn't for everyone cause this reminds me of that one specific person just like niches do where as designers try to make everything mass-appealing and for everyone (and yes i know maison margiela is a designer but it usually doesn't act like one) again this is really skin chemistry divisive like a lot of people are saying the longevity or sillage are horrible or the mango or the tuberose or even the sandalwood smell kinda bad on their skin which ngl you do have to overspray this especially in summer i also see its also gender divisive cause a lot of men saying the tuberose and creaminess are too much and that it doesn't feel unisex while many women say the sandalwood is too strong with that bit of that spiciness which makes it lean too masculine and also doesn't feel very unisex to me personally the person that would wear this would be someone like fbfragrance on a hot lazy day dressed in crochet shorts and a crochet shirt for women vice versa my final verdict: this is a masterpiece that is well blended that is really sophisticated but the thing is that its just not for everyone and is only gonna fit that one specific person while also this is just completely skin chemistry divisive

Success! I was genuinely scared Maison Martin Margiela was going disappoint like the latest mango-featured scent Rosie Jane Matilda. (Why is mango so hard to do in fragrances?) However, Chasing Sunsets is a warm, natural smelling mango made creamy from the sandalwood mostly and tuberose. It doesn't give spoiled or rancid and doesn't cheat by smelling like other fruits, such as passionfruit, pineapple, or peach, like it usually does. It's not tart at all and also not nauseating. Rather it smells like real mangos which I honestly get for the life of the fragrance, the sandalwood just shines more as it dries. Think sliced sweet mango with its juices on a sandalwood board, basking in warm sunset beams. Which is how it should be; it's better and meant to be worn outside than inside. Longevity is around 4 hours with a calm projection. Seems soft but there's definitely a nice scent bubble although it doesn't last the longest. I wore Chasing Sunsets on one arm and on my other arm was Boy Smells Solar Drip, which is mango too but clean like bright sun-rays. A cashier at a smoothie place was standing on a higher level behind a counter and complimented me on how good I smelled when I walked up. She stated she doesn't usually do fruity fragrances but whatever I had on was great. I raised each arm for her to smell to figure out which one she was referring too, and although she liked both, she confirmed Chasing Scents was what filled the area. She still ended up taking a picture of both bottles from my bag to buy during the next Sephora sale. Definitely my second favorite mango scent after THoO Keep Glazed which is a little synthetic but the sweet whipped cream wins me over in combination with mango and lemon. Loewe Cosmic that I used to have is mango with smoky amber and woods added; a bit much for me.

EDIT: I went back for the travel...have sprayed this three times as my night time scent, it’s so well blended. It’s equal parts fruity, floral and woody. At home this smells like a ripe juicy mango. I can smell the sweet flesh of it. Then it’s also warm and solar. I’m typically super sensitive to white florals but the florals are blended. The woody base really hold this together, taking a mango fruit fragrance into a more mature scent profile. It really does smell tropical without coconut or salt notes. Very sexy. Finally a fruity floral without musk, patchouli, amber or strong spices. 🥭💗 At Sephora: Upon the initial spray, the tuberose is very prominent followed by the sandalwood and lastly the mango. The cardamom is non detectable to my nose. However I do pick up a warm, soft spice. The sandalwood is very creamy which helps to create a soft, warm scent, like the sun on skin. I can picture the sunset at the beach smelling like this. I find it sexy. For some reason this reminds me of Jazz Club. This had 1-2 hours lasting power with one spray on skin and disappeared. On the tester strip with two sprays, after two hours, the scent is strong. Undecided about if I want to smell like this, or I want my man to smell like this. 0.o

highly varies from batch to batch im guessing but the one i smelt is pure juicy mango with a tiny amount of florals and then a very subtle woodiness its feminine but then in the dry down its more woody and its more on the masculine side surprisingly its unisex but with a small masculine tilt very natural and no synthethics or any of that vibe just a fresh ripe mango juice very sweet only for people that like sweet scents and more of a layering fragrance only fitted for very tropical places and ive seen influencers get there cards where it says the notes but in fragrantica there are missing notes like cardamom, vanilla accord and crystal moss which i mean i kind off smell but not really also im saying that this probally varies from batch to batch cause some say that they only smell the mango or only smell the sandalwood or even only smell the tuberose or the mango isnt ripe which for me was insanely ripe or the mango is rotten anyways fb was right about this tho the longevity is max 3,5 hours but i dont care 7,5/10

Mercy this is good! I’ve never really vibed with Maison Margiela fragrances, but I stumbled on this in Sephora one day and tried it on and found myself with my hand attached to my nose all the way home. It is a sunset: warm, happy, relaxing. I have nothing in my collection quite like it. I’m really not a fan of mango or tuberose notes, but this just works. The mango is there and it is very nice. It is more dry v/s juicy. It has a soft sweetness but not at all cloying. The tuberose gives it a subtle milkiness that envelopes the sandalwood and collectively it’s just addictively soft, warm and comforting. I bought myself a travel and have completely fallen in love so today I ordered the big bottle. It’s definitely not a beast mode fragrance but has decent longevity for an EDT. I look forward to being able to overspray with this beautiful creation.

Wow. This completely caught me off guard. I got a sample of this and did not expect to like it. I'm not into tropical and fruity scents at all. But this was love at first smell?! This smells like being on vacation and walking along a beach, sun in going down and you are heading back to the hotel. It's still warm outside, the sea is calm and the sky is turning darker. As it develops, the mango comes more forward. It's a creamy mango smoothie that you're carrying. Someone is walking with you, a man, and he smell gooooood! What a life! I feel this perfume in my tummy, it makes me feel the happiness of past vacations and I keep wanting to smell my wrist. This might be the first feminine perfume I buy and I am completely in love!!!!!!!

This is a bright and fresh scent, while being very inoffensive and mellow. It opens with a creamy mango and I get a fair bit of cardamom. The sweetness is quite neutral which I love, as I can sweeten it up by layering it with a gourmand, or leave it as is. After about two hours it melts into a really pleasant skin scent, which reminds me of a lot of Phlur products in the way they melt into the warmth of the skin and linger in a natural way. I usually hate Replica, but I blind bought this and looove it. It's such a unique mango that gives tropical without being anyyything like a sunscreen scent. Also it barely has any floral notes which keeps it from smelling too strong, mature, or "perfumey" like other Replica fragrances.

What can I say: It smells good. The mango note is supported by this creamy, sweet tuberose which only adds up to this mature, loyal scent. I don't smell any trace of cardamom, not sure if there ever was any as a matter of fact. I had my sister smell it for me, to which she gagged. Not because it smells bad, but because of how how strong it really was. (Do what you want with that) The longevity is amazing for a edt. I ended up getting 3-6 hours after the initial sprays. To those pondering on purchasing this: Make sure to smell it first of all, and regard the reviews attached here, as those were posted way before the fragrance was even released.

This is nice not like every other summer scent that is coconut or tiare flower this is mango done right too. Not too green not too sweet. It’s fresh and bright. Perfect for summer but sweet enough. The jasmine balances the mango sweetness and the sandalwood adds creaminess this is the first from MMM I have brought in while. They used to push out real master pieces like whispers in the libery and by the fireplace and coffee break but recently they have been a bit meh. This is not groundbreaking don’t get me wrong but it’s different to most summer scents that are usually passion fruit or coconut or tiare so I might just buy a bottle.

Maison Margiela's REPLICA Chasing Sunsets had me genuinely wowed on the first wear, and that doesn't happen often anymore. I love Chasing Sunsets. The mango note is syrupy. It reminds of an overripe mango. The scent lasts for hours on me. It does not seem overly tropical to my nose despite the mango. One thing I find interesting is that it reminds me a lot of Jazz Club but with a prominent mango note. I actually don't like Jazz Club, but I do love this one. I have seen it compared to By the Fireplace. I don't agree with that. I also don't smell the pickle note some people have noticed. I do get the sandalwood and vanilla, but not the tuberose. It is a nice summer scent but could be worn all year.

I came here to comment on this bright yet warm masterpiece by MM. The opening is a a perfect blend of a bright, light, not too ripe mango and a tropical, creamy tuberose. Perfectly balanced... not too sweet and not too floral. But the best part... the dry down... oh the dry down... it is heavenly! The mango lasts all the way through to the dry down and wrapped in a cardamom and sandalwood hug. The notes are refined and blend seamlessly! I’m seriously addicted. If I could tape my wrist to my face, I would!! Signature scent worthy!

The opening is REALLY mango, like sticky fingers and juice everywhere, which put me off at first (felt kinda basic) but the mid and dry down are beautiful. The mango becomes floral (but not too tropical), and a gorgeous sandalwood musk creeps through. It’s pretty strong at first, like a lot of Replica scents, and it has a hefty cloud, but calms down and sits on the skin nicely. It’s a pretty, youthful scent, and reminds me of a Josie Maran apricot body cream from like 10 years ago that’s been discontinued 💔

wow this is nice. It's not too sweet for a mango perfume. A little clean even, but not shampoo-like, like a lot of fruity fragrances are. This is pretty inoffensive, and suitable for almost anyone (maybe on the younger side tho). It's sweet, mango-y, but grounded in the sandalwood. Smells like your middle school girl bestie on a summer's day, going bike riding and drinking juice until sunset. It's lowkey giving 2016 summer, walking out of a movie theatre at sunset in ripped jean shorts. Loveeeee

Oh my. This smells amazing. I put this on my hand just to test it and at first it smelt weird. But I realized that it’s one of those scents that really shine in the air. I actually have it on right now. If I smell it close to my hand, it doesn’t process right. But the brief wafts I get throughout the day are heavenly. I paired this with Beach walk too and it’s friggin amazing. I’m a guy and this is definitely feminine leaning but it’s still unisex for sure

I can't really speak on longevity and sillage because I only tested it at Sephora once, but my god this is delicious. It smells like a summertime's sunset looks and feels, straight up. The mango and sandalwood together create a scent that reminds me of warm skin after a hot day at the beach. It's juicy, creamy, and a little spicy. I do think this is best suited for a night out, might feel a little cloying otherwise.

i havent bought this yet but i smelled it at the store in sephora today and oh my gosh. i NEED this perfume like NOW! it smells so so delicious. im usually more of an amber/warm floral/fresh skin scent girl but this one smells so fresh but theres a bit of warmth to it. perfect for the spring and summer. it reminds me of the olaplex no 6 leave in conditioner lol. im thinking of pairing it with the phlur body oil

what a pleasant surprise with this one! i'm an avid fan of By The Fireplace as well but the others, not so much. i thought this would smell like your typical fruity gourmand type situation and it's half true but the more you smell it, you realize its very soft and creamy mango with some sort of assertive maturity provided by the sandalwood and tuberose. safe to say i'll be getting a travel size for the summer.

I think this is a masterpiece. 10/10 To me, wearing this smells like you just stepped outside to your balcony, and you're freshly showered after a sun-filled beach date, and waiting for you is a perfectly ripe mango - sliced and ready for you to enjoy after a fun but tiring day. It's exactly what you need to keep going so you can have the energy to return to the beach a little later to watch the sun go down🌅

I’m obessed with this but it lasts way longer on clothes than skin. I can dowse myself in the scent and it’ll be gone in an hour. Everyone around me thinks it’s smells like pickles. IMO not worth the purchase due to how quickly in fades but it’s definitely one of my favourite scents ever. It also isn’t a typical summer scent. I’d say much more fall warmth

Beautiful, I keep smelling myself since I bought it, it's uplifting, tuberose is not strong, barely noticeable, although I'm not a fun of mango in this is beautifully made. Settles down in cozy vanilla My husband loves it also and although I recommended that we share it since he liked it, he says it's feminine, so no for him

The initial spritz is a bit chemically but within a minute or so it dries down into a very lovely warm mango that is quite addicting. Smelt this in store and immediately picked up a travel size. Might have to upgrade to a full if I go through it too quick!

I was on a fragrance no-buy for a while, but I sprayed this at Sephora and had to come back to get the travel size. The mango adds just the perfect amount of juiciness. Fairly unisex on the drydown. It's got a summer quality that doesn't seem sunscreeny.

This is an amazing scent.. It's summer in a bottle! Mango is strong but it's done in an amazing creamy warm but fresh way... It lasts a looong time and shines in warm weather... I loved it! Try it! I get creamy milky mango on my skin which is lovely..

Smells like a mango peel with a soft creamy note. it starts really lovely but personally it’s becoming a little baby wipe ish on my skin? The mango is lost after awhile. I love the opening so much but I don’t think I’ll be picking it up.

First hour it smells like Mango Puree then afterwards a unisex floral comes in then it settles into what i can describe as BR540 drydown. Its very ambery/spiky scent which i love. I think this will be my first MMM full bottle purchase.

Amazing. Fresh juicy exotic mango in the opening drying to the tuberose. To me, the tuberose smells a bit like a plastic flower, but if im being honest, i really like it. 9.7/10.

Oh my fuck. Am I dreaming? Did I actually live long enough to see the day I like something made by MM? Maybe it’s this summer. Maybe it’s this damn heatwave. Could be I suffered some kind of temporary neurological event. Either way, Chasing Sunsets is better than last year’s Never-ending Summer by a MILE. Which still isn’t saying much lol. Also, tell me this isn’t the perfume version of “The Girl from Ipanema” without telling me. Normally I’d run screaming from something so on the nose, but somehow it works? Now, did it make me wanna throw my bra at somebody? Yeah, no. 😑 Not even close. At this point, my expectations for MM are so low that even basic competence feels like a major plot twist. And ofc I’m not buying a bottle. Three notes. Mango, tuberose and sandalwood. About as plain and common as they come. And yet half the comments are throwing around “masterpiece”. The bar remains in a dumpster. The opening is genuinely good, though. A slightly overripe mango with a leathery edge to it. Which I adore. Not especially juicy or aggressively tropical. Not a cocktail-and-pool-party mango either. Just something understatedly mango-y. About 20 minutes in, it becomes sweeter, slightly candied, less fruity and noticeably more floral. That’s when the tuberose starts showing up, and I can’t stand white florals. They instantly make everything smell geriatric to me. Very where-did-I-leave-my-dentures. I should probably thank my grandma and her lifelong commitment to Fracas for that. The sandalwood’s there from start to finish. Soft and creamy, lightly woody. It never fully commits to the pickle jar allegations. Ok, maybe court-ordered community service. But not prison. Then there’s the performance. The biggest weakness of this godawful brand. Even when Maison Margiela accidentally gets something right, they still can’t seem to make it stick around longer than 2 hours. Same story here. After just 2 hours, it’s only a memory of a golden hour on a Brazilian beach and all that bossa nova. I’ve had drunk conversations with strangers last longer. On the upside, that’s not entirely bad in summer, when it’s 40 degrees outside and everybody already feels medium-rare. But for that price tag? Get real. 🙄 A full bottle might as well come with a subscription. Another thing. Every time I wore this, I couldn’t shake the feeling it wasn’t mine. Some middle-aged dude with really good hair? More like it. But me, not so much. The leathery mango, the sandalwood and the pre-retirement tuberose all smell like a man in a linen shirt. The kind who keeps to the shade and hydrates with mineral water and lemon because he’s vaguely concerned about having a heart attack. I wouldn’t trust the bastard for a second. Nor do I buy this as a true unisex frag. As far as mango fragrances go, Chasing Sunsets isn’t the strongest contender either. I still like Summer Hammer and Ibiza Cosmic much more. So, much like the OG girl from Ipanema, I’m walking right past this one without blinking once. I’ll give ’em this. Maison Margiela officially climbed about 0.01% in my book. If they ever figure out how to make a fragrance last and start taking actual creative risks, then one day I’ll buy one. Maybe. And for the love of Satan, do something with those bottles already. Different passport stamp. Same tired bottle. Give it a rest. 3/5. Nice isn’t worth chasing.

I can appreciate this, Margiela!!!! The opening is straight sandalwood/cardamom (really reminds me of juniper, actually), almost to an overwhelming degree, and then around thirty seconds later you are greeted with hardcore-grandma-floral avon perfume circa 1985. The mango is not particularly forward; it's rather a dull milky mango as opposed to juicy fruit. I mean this in the nicest way possible, but it kinda resembles the scent profile of a piece of thoroughly chewed mango gum thats lost all of it's flavour. Actually, have you ever had Thrills gum? It smells EXACTLY like that, or even, a delicious Melona mango bar. And then... it must have been the wind... once this dries down for a few minutes, you are left with that inoffensive, somewhat soapy waft of mango and not much else. Is it tropical? I would say after settling yes, mildly, but it's no Copacabana. Longevity is not great, but I will assume that is because I purchased one of the teeny tiny bottles and idk they're never as thoughtful as the full ones. I think this would be a great layering scent, or by itself for anyone who likes a more soft/creamy/soapy mango. I wasn't too fond of it at first, but I think this could really work for some people, and I can appreciate a play on tropical that isn't obnoxiously sweet, in your face, or like straight coconut. I'm going to give this a go in the summer!

Bought a sample, it's good, not amazing and not bad. Sandalwood is prominent in the opening, after 30 mins / 1 hour the mango becomes clearer and juicier and the touch of tuberose (or at least what changes the mango a little bit, don't really know how to describe it) is present all throughout the fragrance time span. I think it's unisex but probably suits a female better, with this said I won't buy the full fragrance because imo it's not worth the money. It's a linear and simple scent (it's not a bad thing) and also not really that common. I feel like under extreme heat it's almost cloying, the fragrance is pretty intense so that's what I'd think would happen. It is very fresh but at the same time it leaves a trace after you smell it that I fear could become obnoxious with really high temperatures (let's say 35°C +) Also doesn't last long, at least on my skin it doesn't reach 3 hours longevity.

I blind bought this fragrance. This fragrance has a juicy and highly realistic mango opening with a hint of florals in the background. However, the opening is very short lived and the dry down results in a more sour and citrusy scent that isn't for my taste. Longevity is quite poor, lasting only 2-4 hours before having to reapply. Sillage is moderate in the opening but fades quickly. Due to the generic tropical opening and the sour dry down, I don't think this fragrance would be very good for compliments.

The opening of this smells EXACTLY like those mango peelerz gummies. Very delicious and while candy-like, has a whisper of that real mango funk so it feels well-rounded while still staying firmly in the realm of mass market summer scents. The drydown has a very smooth woody note. Seeing the scent pyramid now, it all checks out. Overall, nice but a bit sweet for my taste. (note: this is based on a paper tester strip so no idea how it would wear on skin)

Chasing Sunset by Margiela on me is woody-floral and sweet. Surprisingly, tuberose here is a minor player while sandalwood dominates along with sweet ripe mango. Simple and easy to wear though sillage can be quite large in the beginning then fade quickly to skin scent in an hour. For non-ripe mango perfume, I have Hermes Sur le Nil. One spray on me: Sillage: arm’s length for first hour Longevity: about 3-4 Rating: 3/5

yeah ok it’s like 70% sweet woody and 30% mango. and not a tangy mango at that. i mean it’s nice, but its quite normal? don’t get me wrong i think this is a nice calm fragrance if you want a tropical but not very tropical, that will get you compliments. the energy is more evening than day. but gold juice from btso is more of a true tangy tropical mango i was expecting. i still think i will keep my travel size.

I would have to agree with many of the other reviews: The mango in the opening is beautiful, it reminded me of my favorite fragrance which is Narco Oasis by Narcotica. However, yes, it dries down to be a little too woody and with the tuberose combined it ends up smelling like pickles. It’s too bad, for such a simple profile they should have stuck with the simplistic but beautiful mango all the way through.

very fresh. quietly floral and juicy, slightly ripe mango. i feel like often times mango can read vomit-like in fragrance, chasing sunsets does not have this problem. it’s almost soapy in its cleanliness, and i personally barely pick up on the sandalwood. overall a very solid summer fragrance that i’m contemplating buying a travel size of for my upcoming vacation

holy shit, the opening is so beautifully done. sweet fruity notes without the intense synthetic-ness that others bring. mangoes and tangerines on ice; absolutely perfect! but then it dries. the lush tropical notes drown in a disappointing musk and i'm left with the smell of an attic. god damn it, margiela.

Got a sample of this from Sephora. It’s very sweet and the sandalwood is very creamy. It reminds me a bit of The Wedding Silk Santal but the mango top note gives it some tartness. I like it - not sure how it would be for a hot summers day but I see it as mostly a year round type of fragrance.

I loved the opening but wasn’t a big fan of the dry down. The mango is edible and delicious but goes away very quickly. It turns into a slightly bitter green aromatic musk that I wasn’t expecting, I wanted it to be sweeter to match the edible-ness of the opening mango l.
