Coffee Break, accurate to its name is a fleeting moment, a whisper in the everyday bustle. Look toward the soft murmur of a city street, the delicate hum of morning activity, where the scent of fresh coffee lingers in the air but, contrary to initial expectations, isn’t the star of the show. Instead, think the subtle warmth of a minimalistic café in winter, where the aroma of roasted beans drinks quieter, more refined. The coffee here isn’t served bold and brash in pitch dark shots, but instead as that elegant, smooth low-fat latte you nurse on a break—thin, understated, and the perfect companion to a moment of pause. As you step outside, drink in hand, the world shifts gently. The faint, soothing notes of blooming lavender beckon from nearby flower stands, filling the air with their soft, sweet perfume, adding a touch of life to the calm simplicity of your coffee. You’re not enveloped in the heaviness of caffeine or dramatics of the higher-ups, but instead, the crispness of a day well-spent, a slight breeze mingling with the faintest trace of the approaching spring, like petals brushing your skin. Sadly, like any precious moment, MM's fragrances always sit brief. This fragrance is no outlier, slipping away as easily as it comes, leaving behind nothing but well, the replica of a memory—a soft, almost imperceptible trace of sweetness, like a good breath of air that dissipates into the distance before you can say goodbye. Like the coffee break itself, it is beautiful, it is refreshing. It is also gone too quick.

I love this perfume. I originally got the travel size version (back when it was more widely available) and ordered the largest size once I used it up. I like the simplicity of this fragrance but can understand why this may be a negative for some people. I was shocked to see how many notes are listed here, as I only really pick up lavender and milk. There is a very slight coffee note upon first spray but it fades within minutes to a lavender milk scent. This perfume has a pretty weak projection after the first hour, but because of that, I feel more comfortable wearing it to work. It isn't sickeningly sweet like some of my other milk fragrances (see: Milk by Commodity) because the lavender adds a slightly bitter edge to the milk note. I wear this at home, to work, and running errands. It lasts noticeably for about 3-4 hours and lingers for maybe 8 at most. This is on me all throughout fall and winter, and on the occasional rainy spring day. It isn't something that I would gravitate towards during hot days. The price point is pretty steep for the projection and longevity but my 100 mL bottle is only 1/3 used after 2 years of almost daily use 6-8 months of the year. I highly recommend if you're looking for a not-too-sweet milk scent that is office-safe.

If you're after a gourmand scent this is not the one. Luckily I'm very satisfied with the barley there coffee note. According to the notes, 'Coffee break' shouldn't be for me. Normally I'm not very fond of neither lavender nor patchouli. But it turns out that I love them together here. It's very well balanced which is why I probably don't mind the lavender or the patchouli. It's like all the notes play very well together and you get this warm, creamy and embracing scent that leans slightly feminine on my skin, but I think it's very unisex. As of it's longevity it is not performing all that great. But the sillage is at least medium as long as it lasts. You could wear it for a whole day of work but you will have to reapply if you're going out in the evening and want to be noticed. I don't really mind this since I prefer a silent stunner over a knock out fragrance any day. But if you prefer knock out this I probably not the one.

Such an underrated little coffee fragrance, and honestly probably my favourite from the Replica line as a whole. Maybe even my favourite coffee fragrance ever... but i'm still searching, so we'll see! Here the coffee isn't too bitter or sweet cloying, it's sort of milky and lactonic. I love lactonic fragrances, so this is a huge win for me. Most coffee fragrances also use a ton of artificial caramel, which smells like an assault to my nose. Here, it feels like more of a whisper of coffee, balanced with soft soapy lavender (and no weird caramel note in sight!). An unexpectedly spectacular combination! My only gripe with this fragrance is that I just wish it lasted longer on my skin. I get about 4 hours of wear before it fades into nothingness. I have heard this is an issue with the line as a whole. Still, I will have to upgrade to a full bottle eventually. I love it that much.

So, SO good. Unique! It's a bar-of-soap smell, with LOTS of herbal whole-plant lavender. The coffee is way in the background, like as if a bar of goat's milk soap just walked out of a coffee shop, the smell of ground coffee beans lingering on its little soap cardigan. The lavender is not "fabuloso" (iykyk), sharp, nor too masculine. It's soft like baby powder. Rounded, floral, aromatic and natural. This fragrance was made for fall, Irish cable sweaters, tan suede Birkenstocks with chunky knit socks and relaxed fit, worn-out blue jeans. LOVE 💞. Editing to add that I concur this is an excellent office selection, because the throw isn't intense. M.M Coffee Break could never be suffocating (unless maybe way over applied). It's definitely a personal space scent, but with staying power.

My favorite cozy winter scent. My go-to maison margiela was whispers in the library, and after it was discontinued I tried it this. It feels like a warm winter day, curled up with a book and a nice blanket. I find it slightly sweet and creamy. The performance is good on me, and I’ll smell it on clothes days after spraying them. I’ve had it for over a year now and I still love it, it never gets old. Despite the name, I don’t think this is really a coffee-forward scent, which is fine with me; I was looking for a comforting, warm, daily winter scent, and this is exactly that. If you’re looking for a coffee scent specifically, this probably isn’t it (but I’d recommend giving it a try anyway!)

If you're in search of a sweet gourmand with this perfume, I would recommend looking elsewhere as I'd say it's more "inspired" by a lavender latte than it actually smells like one. I love it, however. It's clean, powdery, sweet. I'm a barista so if I wanted to smell like a lavender latte I'd just go to work, lmao. But this perfume, in my opinion, is the perfect take on "the coffee shop vibe" without being too repetitive of a gourmand/vanilla/etc perfume. It's its own thing, and I fw that. I personally think it's lavender/pepper forward, I love that its spicy. I wear it for special occasions as its pricey :,( I think its worth it, though. My favorite out of the Replica line.

i will never forget where i was when i first sampled this perfume. i originally was seeking out whispers in the library to sample, but decided to give this a try first. the instant smell of lavender mixed in with coffee that swept over me was enough to make it my perfume for christmas in 2023. i smell so fresh yet so sweet when i put this on, and especially love layering this with so many gourmand perfumes, such as eilish by billie eilish and babylon by penhaligon’s. oh and i definitely would recommend wearing this in the rain and in the snow, it just fits the perfume’s overall vibe and scent. absolutely one of my favorite perfumes from maison margiela!

its so funny how people talk about coffee and the perfume does not even contain coffee note nor accord.. its meant to remind people of a coffee break in general and not a coffee shop.. According to Maison Margiela Top notes: Pepper, Orange blossom, Patchouli Middle notes: Cypriol, Tonka Bean, Benzoin Base notes: Vanilla, Cedar, Vetiver According to Nose Paris website head notes : mandarin, peach, pineapple heart notes : lavender, mint, orange blossom base notes : caramel, coumarin, musk, patchouli, sandalwood, virgina cedar its also so funny how fragrantica does not list the correct notes of so many fragrances I myself smell the pineapple so clearly

I didn’t have any expectations going into this so maybe that’s why I enjoyed it so much. I’ll admit that the notes are misleading - I don’t get any of the top notes at all. The coffee is fleeting and I can only pick up on it if I try to. The lavender is there though and it’s not overpowering or masculine leaning like I find others to be. On my skin, the dry down is like a fancy soapy, clean smell. I personally really like it but I can see why other people wouldn’t - especially since the name doesn’t seem reflective of the actual scent regardless of how it pulls on you. 100% not safe for a blind buy

This genuinely reminds me of a book store with an internal caffé I used to go to each weekend. The paper and wood scent from the building, which had massive bouquets of lavender in the reading area and the subtle coffee aroma harmonising from the caffé. It's unbelievably uncanny! The fragrance isn't strong but it's certainly not weak, and without a doubt it immediately falls into the "comforting scent" category. Sillage and longevity aren't anything to brag about, but this is one perfume I will always keep in my rotation. It always makes me feel quite calm, and brings back pleasant memories 😊

I love this scent so much!! It's so classy and smells exactly like being in a coffee shop. I actually do get a soft coffee scent from wearing this alongside a clean airy scent. It's really nuanced but it smells like coffee and fabric softener in the best way possible.I love putting this on in the morning and night time since it's so comforting and feels homey. It lasts for quite a while and I personally love mixing this scent with my commodity milk bold to add in more of a toasty gourmand scent. - not gatekeeping this combo for fall/winter :)

I really like this fragrance actually. On me it’s very milky and coffee-y but the more interesting thing is how it smelled on others to be honest. How strong the lavender is really depends, which is so interesting. On one person it smelled like hand soap. It’s a really fun fragrance, very cozy. Reminds me of (and stay with me now), hugging a middle aged Swedish lady with a silk dress on. It’s very specific but I swear it’s like a thing. It’s so funny how it actually kind of captures the vibe it goes for. It’s like a solid ass perfume.

I can officially tell I cannot live without it! Half a year passed and I don’t care about others in my 50+ collection, my interest in perfumery plummeted. Background: I loved my tiny EDT Mon Guerlain with lavender note. Once it was gone, I decided to search for another one. That’s when I came across Coffee Break. At first I thought it’s a monster and maybe I should revisit in winter, however as the day passed I got enveloped in something magical. I came back to the perfumery the next day.

Ordered a sample, and smelled it over the course of several days. Warm, cozy, not reminding me of a coffee breath at all. That aside, the opening smells very warm with the coffee sticking out the most. Turns into rather a “cozy” smell with lavender being pretty prominent. The longevity and the fact that the coffee goes away so early might be an issue for some. But I decided to order a full bottle for this years colder months, will definitely look more into the Replica line.

This fragrance is genuinely a work of art it’s so good I love most fragrances from the replica line the only thing with this fragrance is that the coffee note doesn’t last more than 20 mins and then the lavender shines through. In the first 20 mins to an hour it does smell like a photo realistic coffee shop but when the lavender shines through it’s not as good but overall this fragrance is a 9.5 out of 10 for me 9.5/10 scent wise 3.7/10 longevity wise 7/10 compliment wise

Blind bought this based on both notes and previous experiences with Maison Margiela scents. I simply love it ! Warm, clean, cosy and calming. Love the fresh lavender opening, the following toasted coffee blended in a milky soft cloud. Silage is amazing and longevity is really good on me as opposed to most of the other replicas I own. Definetely a unisex perfume. This will be my safe and highly enjoyable go-to scent for this autumn and winter. Big love from me!

I'm in love. The whole experience of this perfume is amazing, despise the short longevity. At first it might seem too masculine because of the lavander, but if you actually pay attention to the coffee and lactonic notes the "femininity" starts to show up. I feel that this could be used by any gender, at any season or weather, there's a clean sensation to it. I really wish I could find something like this for a more affordable price and more long lasting.

This is one of the most incredible, nuanced and unique fragrances I wear on the daily. I cannot believe how well the lavender pairs with the lactonic notes of coffee, bringing a nostalgic warmth that makes me think of cozy sweaters and good books. I haven't found anything that compares or is remotely similar. The dry down is a cozy vanilla with a hint of coffee that has an impressive longevity. Totally worth the price and yet another win from Replica.

Beautiful fragrance, my favorite in my collection in terms of smell. I wish it lasted longer and projected more, and the coffee note somewhat fades around 1 hour in for me, but even after that it still smells amazing: very gourmand and lavender heavy, still classy and unique. This is honestly a year rounder for me, its slowly become my signature scent, just don'y go heavy on the sprays in the summer, as the opening may be very overpowering for some.

It is really lovely! Probably my favorite from the entire Replica collection. Performance is not the strongest though! To me smells like a nice lavender cappuccino you would get in a cutesy specialty coffee place. Not sweet, very comforting, very warm scent. Coffee is there, but it is not at all harsh or sharp, very much softened by the milkiness. And milk is not cold fresh-off-the-cow, but warm foamed goodness.

Lovely cosy milky coffee scent with a hint of a guys cologne but in a way that’s comforting like your sitting in a coffee shop milk in frothing and doffing is being brewed and a guy just walks by it’s in the air that comes from me lavender I’m sure. But this is so unisex and milky and light but blended not heavy milk with coffee second it’s lovely and not so easy to find anymore it’s a shame.

I adore this fragrance. I enjoy the creamy, nutty, floral coffee. It's a superb experience. I wish the coffee lasted longer, but the rest of the scent profile is special. I need to get a bottle of this. This is a 9/10 for me. I purposely had to stop wearing it every day so I don't go through my whole decant. I need a bottle, but the price is meh.

This was the fragrance that openned my eyes to the world of fragrances. Its a very subtle openning of pepper and floral notes but dries down to this beautiful coffee warm cozy fragrance. If youre a warm and coffee, this is a fun safe sweet cozy blind buy. I also have allergies to synthetics, and this does not trigger them. Perfectly Unisex!

This was my first ever perfume that I’ve ever had and the one that made me interested in fragrances. I had the travel size bottle and was absolutely obsessed with it. Even though it’s been years since I had it, I still think about it fondly and I think someday I will repurchase it. Very good scent for chilly nostalgic fall afternoons.

I wear this for more masculine outfits, as it feels a bit more masculine just to my nose. I don't think it smells like coffee, but it smells like the "idea" of a cafe. Reading books, maybe some lavender, some tea, light floral and musky notes. I wear it on nicer occasions. Works really well in the fall and winter.

It is one of my favorite perfumes but it does not smell like coffee to me at all. It is mostly a very clean lavender scent. To me it starts off with a note that almost smells like chocolate and then it jus smells like a soft nice laundry smelling lavender smell. I love it so much and wear it to the office a lot.

This scent is so "downtown girl" fashion vibe. I see lavender as herbal, and I love it. (It all depends on what that note reminds you of.) This scent to me is sugary lavender in a bowl of fresh milk and coffee beans surrounding it. I think I could still pull off this scent lightly spritzed in the summer.

This is a well balanced and cozy scent. It doesn’t last very long on skin, but it lasts 4-6 hours on clothes. When you first spray this, it has a cologne smell, but shortly after it is unisex. On dry down, it is almost feminine. If it was cheaper I’d buy a hug bottle and wear it on cozy days.

The scent that got me interested in different fragrances. A rich, creamy and smooth coffee and lavender fragrance. Would recommend trying before purchasing as it and be a bit headache inducing during the initial dry down. As its an EDT 3 hours of close skin wear before a top is required.

i loooooove the smell of coffee but i'm not crazy about gourmands, so this is perfect for me. i'm quite a lavender person so that definitely helps, but i think this is gorgeous as a lighter coffee scent. it's more like the atmosphere of a literal coffee break than the coffee itself

A milky lavender coffee cloud. More of a scent experience rather than smelling like a straight up latte. This is the first Margiela I fell in love with. I wear it when I am needing something to calm me. I love layering this with afternoon delight to make it a little more gourmand.

Absolutley adore this fragrance, but ill be honest it doesnt smell like you would expect it to, Starts off just as sweet lavander, fades down into s sweet flowery coffee. This fragrance lasts about an hour of projection and 5 hours of skin scent. which sucks tho.

So good! It has a very bright and prominent lavender scent that is rounded off by the coffee notes and a hint of milky vanilla. I get a bit of sharpness from the patchouli. Very cozy, but not the best option if you're looking for a pure coffee scent.

stopping at a coffee shop on a rainy fall day, rlly nice vibe. smells mostly lactonic + like coffee and lavender. the lavender note is rlly pronounced, so i wouldn’t recommend this if u want a more straightforward coffee perfume.

To me it smells like creamy coffee with whispers of lavender. Definitely unisex. I paired it with Mocha Milk by Phlur to sweeten it up a little. It’s lovely!
