Promenade In The Gardens

It is awful outside, very hot and humid today. The scent blossoms beautifully in the heat. I keep sniffing myself as I am wearing this and I just feel amazing with it on. I am not a patchouli person but combined with the woods it works in the fragrance giving it a mysterious quality. It's a high quality, beautiful, green floral. I'm not sure it evokes a scent memory for me but I am certainly going to make some now!

I love green chypre florals and enjoy this scent. I feel that the note pyramid describes the fragrance well. The opening is green, spicy and somewhat floral. The sweet floral characters of rose, jasmine and peony then slowly emerge. The base is spicy and woody. I find this fragrance quite sweet in line with Narciso Rodriguesz fragrances but with a green herbaceous twist.

only reviewing the maison margiela scents i love or hate. I LOVE this perfume. Its so flowery and peony, rose and jasmine are my favorites, only thing missing is my iris. Its fruity and fresh and almost powdery? maybe that's the wrong description but its not see through like most fresh scents are if you know what I mean? Its a wonderful perfume.

I want this perfume so badly but I can't afford it. You know the deal, I just "visit" it when I go to the mall. I think it triggers such good memories and thoughts in my mind: Summer, euro trips, nature walks, a nice lunch, a sunny leisure day... It also reminds me a bit of my all time favorite: L'eau de Chloe.

Happiness in a fragrance when I sniff it it’s take me back to London 🥺touching my heart softly amazing friends memories , I kept stocking it every time I traveled to London it since it Luonged in London Selfridges .... and still wearing it s🙃and Never know we had it in Dubai only after it’s discontinued.......

The first spray of this fragrance is the freshness of a spring day and then it settles into a wonderfully luscious and unique green fragrance. Perfect for Spring and summer!

Amazingly beautiful and relaxing rose scent. Love it.

My first impression: Chloé EDP + Gucci Rush "Butch floral" is a great way to describe this. The combination of peony, rose + freesia reminds me a lot of Chloé's watery sweet and aristocratic charm, but this has got some potting soil under its fingernails and a bit more of a hippie feel compared to Chloé's more pampered scent. It's also a little more herbal than you'd expect from the pyramid, rather minty and mossy, but the dry down is solid Chloé with a slightly more herbal and peppery kick. It's really not that patchouli-heavy and certainly not a "masculine vetiver" drydown like someone suggested below, I kind of wish it was. I'd love to try a gender-bending floral that changes from something so floral-fruity to a dad's aftershave smell in real time. Nevertheless, I love the addition of vetiver and coriander here, and it's a welcome addiction to what otherwise would be a pretty but very forgettable scent. It's not bottle worthy for me, as both of its opposing sides feel rather safe and are only interesting in their juxtaposition, but I respect what it was going for. Projection is also higher than 90% of other Replica perfumes, which is to say, it actually has projection.

This was a blind buy. A brief history in context: I had a bottle of Idylle edt, which let me down (the bottle leaked, the golden part around the spritzer sticked to the cap and came off all the time, the staying power is minimal, etc.). I had a bottle of Narciso Rodriguez, which got claimed by my mother immediately. If comparing this one to those, Promenade has the best quality, period. It lacks the pungent musk from Narciso, or if there is some (I'm still not a very developed musk-detector when in small quantities), it's more delicate. The vetiver picks up that role that musk has in Narciso, and the rose is so well accompanied by it. I have to say I was afraid for that rose doing a blind buy, since English rose like in Yardley's one isn't my favourite and often has a big potpourri-factor. In contradiction with racb beneath, I don't think the rose is old-fashioned here at all and I don't get the powdery-remark; I love powdery scents, but this is really not it imho. Wafts of earthy patchouli come along and all seems rather "moisty fresh" to me. Anyway Promenade in the Gardens is mine now. All mine.

This is a nice scent profile. It does have a fresh slight petrichor running through it. As someone below wrote, "this Garden is not full of fragrant blooms, but a garden where you can still smell the damp earth, leaves and moss with a faint whiff of flowers after a spring rain". That's pretty accurate. It's far less feminine than the votes here suggest, due to the woody, earthy, green, patchouli accords. The floral opening is the most feminine, but it dries down to unisex. Not that similar to From the Garden. There is one comparison vote to AdP Blu Mediterraneo Mirto di Panarea, and I would say there is only a mild similarity in the opening before they diverge. Its a nice one I wouldn't mind having a bottle of, but given the crazy $300+ USD price people are trying to charge for this discontinued fragrance on the grey market, no thanks.

On my skin, Promenade In The Gardens is a prominent vetiver fragrance with a mossy undertone and a touch of rosy suavity. The vetiver is clean and crisp, but is still satisfyingly earthy and woody. This Garden is not a garden full of various blossoms, but a garden of vivid, lush vegetation after rain, of which the refreshing earthy smell of roots and stems is brought out by the moisture and permeates the air. The sillage is soft and the longevity is around 7 hours. Promenade In The Gardens is clean, radiant and modern, yet its damp earthiness keeps it natural. It's versatile and hardly offensive, yet it stands out among the 'clean' watery green floral. I'd definitely recommend it as a modern, chic fragrance with green, woody elements.

Wow wow wow this is lovely. I was surprised at how much the fragrance evolves with time passing. It opens with a very sharp and green (tomato plant, like I see other people saying) note, almost overwhelming to the friends I smelled this with. I love sharp openings so I wasn't surprised or put off. I sprayed it on paper. After a few hours, I could really smell the patchouli and the rose - really heavy on the patchouli (which isn't my favourite). After 24 hours, all that remained was a lovely, floral scent of peony and jasmine. I understand why people would define it as a grandma smell but I disagree. I think it's beautiful. Not for me because of the patchouli, but beautiful.

This is a great Spring floral. It is not overpowering, but fresh and lovely. It is light, but very uplifting. For me, the longevity of this scent is somewhat weak - about 3 hours at best, but for a floral, I guess that is ok - I am an allergy sufferer, so maybe that is a good thing, but it does not offend my nose. It is like walking in a garden, I think Margiela nailed it with the description of it being in a garden. The white flowers are there, but they are not overpowering as the patchouli and vetiver waters it down and makes it refreshing.

Walking through a cold freshly watered flower garden..that's exactly what this smells like, but more refined. It has woodiness, greenness, it's floral, fresh and lasts a really long time for an EDT. It's one of those sharp(as in very defined and precise) fragrances that normally pulls unisex or masculine but this is very much feminine and I can wear it any time. Also, I can smell the patchouli in this and it is so so nicely done. Best to spritz straight out the shower on damp-ish skin, works best for me that way. 💐

Promenade in the Garden opens up with watery, dewy florals with hints of something peppery. The opening resembles stoney pavement in a garden early in the morning. About 30 minutes into wearing it, I get a honey accord, probably from the combination of rose, patchouli, and jasmine. Rose and peony play a big part in the middle early to mid stage. Then it transition to this warm, earthy, bittersweet scent. This is suitable for an autumn day. Sillage is arm length.

A blast of playdough like pachouli and vetiver play with green notes, rose and jasmine. It's a bit synthetic but I really like it and for a Replica fragrance I find the performance to be good, probably due to this now being discontinued coming from when Maison Margiela had more concentrated formulas. I do also feel the name of this fragrance is a bit misleading, as this isn't a garden/flowery scent through and through. Definitely unisex.

A garden after the rain, the scent of fully bloomed roses, jasmine, and peonies in freshly turned earth. It's oddly aromatherapeutic, which isn't a word I'd associate with a chypre floral. Warm weather only, so spring & summer. My sample is still going strong from the crook of my elbow and it's been well over 4 hrs. Not sure if this is still available, but I'm definitely interested in a full bottle.

This really is a garden in a bottle. The rose is not over powering which it tends to be in most fragrances and the blend of it and the patchouli is very fresh and wonderful. I do see a man wearing this but he needs to be shaved, raw and gorgeous. If the man isn't that then I'd say this is for women only.

Surprisingly close to the scent when you walk through a rose garden. Rose, patchouli and woody. Soft, feminine and light like a summerdress. Perfect for spring and summer. Theres an innocense to this scent which I really adore. Longevity and silage is moderate and soft. A big fan of The replica line !

I really like this fragrance a lot. It does smell quite a bit like walking in a garden that is blooming after a spring rainstorm. I like that the florals are tempered by the earthiness. This is on the verge of being unisex in my opinion. I wish it wasn't discontinued!

a sheer strike of freesia, peony and rose with whiff of earthy vetiver. It's beautiful, light and calming to my nose. I do understand the masculine side of this perfume despite it's heavy flower themed from start to end. Its damp soil smell is the key. Like it

White floral and tomato, smells vintage-inspired like a chanel fragrance. The peony is very strong the base notes are extremely subtle.

Generically floral. Old fashioned rose water with a powdery drydown. It's nice, but there's not enough to it for me.

Garden with a little wet earth

Despite rating Promenade In The Gardens as just OK, I appreciate that it doesn't smell like your average floral rose fragrance. It has a nice depth to it and takes a rather sharp turn away from being a girly floral. The most prominent note I pick up on when I first spray this is the rose but it's followed closely by a green note and some sharp spice that I reckon is from the coriander. It comes off ever so slightly sweet at first but as it dries down it settles and so does the rose. The base notes really shine after about an hour and I smell those most but the rose and jasmine stay relevant enough to dance around the base notes and keep this from leaning too masculine. Initially before allowing this some time to dry down I was going to say it was a rather safe fragrance that was good for all ages but after wearing it for a while, I think its dry down make this more suited to a very specific kind of person who is willing to rock a less feminine fragrance. The base notes and lack of sweetness makes this too strong in my opinion for a younger crowd (highschool or early 20s) but strong ladies in their mid-late 20's and beyond could absolutely enjoy this. It's fresh and great for spring and summer. Promenade lasts a decent amount of time and won't knock anyone over with its strength by any means, but I think that keeps it from getting too suffocating and allows it work better for warmer seasons.

I am truly confounded by this perfume. I think I like it? Smelling the bottle right when I got it I was super disappointed. Dank, musky, old attic smell that could work for some (my roommate liked it) but I did not. The first time I sprayed it, in the air and right off the bat it smelled like black licorice. Weird, because anise isn't in the notes, but anyways. The longer I wear it the more I like it. The dry down is what I expected this perfume to be; woody, green, and floral, which I actually really like. Strange beginning notes and it changes so so much.

This is definitely a springtime fragrance. It's floral and earthy, but not perfumey. More like photorealistic floral. A little soapy at first (but not aldehydic) and then dries down to a gentler, earthy vetiver. I like it but I don't love it. Nobody is going to stop you on the street to ask what you're wearing. Something about it is familiar and nostalgic, but I can't place it. The longevity is insane and lasts forever on skin and on clothes. This would layer well with fresh citrus fragrances that have more distinct notes.

When you were a kid, did you ever have the experience of watching your mom or aunt get ready to go out to run errands, and you would watch them spray perfume as the last step before they headed out? That's what this perfume smells like to me. It smells good enough and gets extra points for that sense of nostalgia that it evokes, but this isn't something I would wear as someone in my early 20's.

Your grandma’s perfume. A scent you would find at an estate sale. Heavy patchouli and vetiver mask the delicate florals at first spray, but becomes prettier. The wet earth as it dries is pleasant. Good for spring.

I cant quite put my finger on it but there is a super disturbing hint of rot here - like wet leaves on the verge of growing mold, if that makes sense. Needless to say, I can't stand it. I'm jealous of those who love it because I can see where the green notes alongside the Sandalwood have so much potential but to me, it ends up smelling foul and.. wrong.

I kept putting more on, because I can’t smell much beyond a quiet minty cilantro note. The Narciso Rodriguez comparisons make sense, as I’m anosmic to that one, too. Testing my way through the Replica Memory Box, I’m loving Lipstick On, Jazz Club, and Music Festival so far.

Read other reviews and it sounded so good but i couldn’t feel it at all :( just a smell of an old grandma’s wardrobe sitting next to you at the theatre.

It smells like a garden in spring - very green, not much floral and rather dull. another overpriced disappointment from this 'Maison'.

The onset of Promenade in the Gardens is chock-full of green notes, which are some of my least-favorite notes in the entire fragrance world. I find it absolutely revolting and stomach-churning when leaves, stems, and foliage have that sort of wet, stale, plant-like smell. I can't explain it but it's bothered me ever since I was a child. Luckily, the green notes in Promenade are completely different and done in a way that is dark, bitter, sharp, and mysterious. My nose is telling me that this sensation can be partly attributed to coriander and galbanum: the latter of which is not specifically listed in the note pyramid but I feel quite certain it is used in this composition. On skin this sensation mellows out and reveals grand Turkish rose accompanied by patchouli and vetiver. There is also an echo of vague, miscellaneous florals in the background that help to give the fragrance presence and weight. Promenade in the Gardens is a lovely, high-quality fragrance that is both outdoorsy and elegant. Because it is very different, this is a fragrance that requires a woman with a strong sense of identity who isn't afraid to wear something unusual and unexpected.

This was a blind buy. It’s a green earthy floral. Tips to a traditional masculine cologne for me. It also reminds me - ever so slightly- of Charlotte Tilburys scent of a dream in the opening. ( I can see the comparison with NR but that one is sweeter, more musk, more creamy and more feminine.) Unlike some of the other replica fragrances this one is quite a classical scent and the projection is surprisingly good. (I got out of the car and then got back in an hour later and the car did smell of how I’d imagine ‘a walk though an English garden on a wet summers day’ would be. The opening is a little sharp but after 10 minutes it sweetens and softens and the florals emerge. My husband will no doubt use this (more than me) as he just couldn’t stop breathing the scent in! EDIT: Been a while since I bought this perfume - I began to find the floral aspect of this fragrance too sharp . (Infact I find many of the floral replica fragrances quite sharp and patchouli heavy. Stopped wearing this after a while. Nice bottle though).

Replica did just that with this fragrance, made an exact replica of a pretty lush flower garden. It can be hard to find fragrances that smell exactly like a garden in bloom during spring, this fragrance is that in a bottle. Amazingly though, it is so fresh, I could see this working on men as well. This is another fragrance that clearly says on the bottle "female fragrance" and while it is more on the feminine side, I can see men pulling it off as a fresh scent. About the scent though, it is very green, like a freshly cut lawn or freshly cut grass. Not sickeningly green though, just right amount of fresh green. The florals start moving in in the background and give it a nice boost. This where you feel like you're in the middle of a gorgeous flower garden in the spring. This made me think of a more floral Le Jardin by Max Factor which was 90% green and 10% floral in my opinion. This fragrance has just the right amount of everything, floral, green, and woody masculine. So far my favorite fragrance by Replica.

Cigars and roses. Spicy and woody in the best way. I quite like it! Only wish it didn't cling so much to the skin, which seems to diminish its potential for silage and longevity. I can also see how the cigar-like spicy-musk may be off putting to some. Even five years ago I probably would've been repulsed by the scent, however my nose has matured; making scents such as this more favorable. Another user mentioned a "cigarette" accord, however it's important to note that the smell she/he is speaking of isn't that of a burnt cigarette, but much more of a spiced and toasted tobacco scent. It smells like a rich cigar - aged and stored properly in a humidor. This, along with the rose, is heavenly. I would recommend this fragrance with the contingency that it is tested before purchased. It's a fragrance that stands out in my collection, but may not be as loved in others. With a suggested retail price of $125, you'll want to make sure Promenade in the Gardens is worth the expenditure. Scent: 7/10

Tomato plant. I smell a sundrenched tomato plant in a garden patch just baking off the steam of a summer storm. Dank soil, some dewy flowers, and a whiff of dissipating petrichor, but most of all those thick hairy tomato leaves - crispy, tangy, spicy, earthy. All this fertile greenery should lend itself to a spring perfume, but to me, the zing of ripe tomato plant is a delicacy reserved for high summer. This is a fragrance for Arcimboldo or the Vegetable Gremlin from Gremlins 2. I do not get 'grandma' or 'feminine' even a little bit. Genderwise it's garden-center-unisex, but sour & spicy enough to lean masc, in my opinion. I readily concede that nobody seems to like it as much as I do. I wear it for me.

After a while the crisp clean vetiver mixed in with a hint of woody patchouli rose makes an appearance and stays throughout. The silage is soft with great longevity. I’d definitely recommend it if you are looking for a modern green fragrance that is not too sharp or bitter.

Promenade in the Gardens is a nice floral that is masculine enough for me to wear it. This fragrance just makes me happy. It's not overly beast mode, it's not going to get a million compliments but it is so nice. When people get close to me, I do get compliments. I know this is ideally a spring time fragrance but I wear it in the winter when I am missing the sun. It launches me into a field of freshly bloomed flowers. The base notes quickly come up to deliver enough of a manly punch to not make it seem like I'm wearing a women's perfume.

I sprayed a few sprays of this on and got into the car with my husband, he was frantic to roll down the windows. He said he was chocking on what smelled like cigarette smoke. Nope just me. I smelled like a lit cigarette. As it's drying down it just smells like a rose. Any rose that you would smell in a rose dominated fragrance, kind of like potpourri. I keep smelling too what reminds me of SJP lovely. It's getting pretty generic smelling, and what I'm looking for is a realistic garden smell in perfume form. Not for me.

@aishakay Why not get a bigger sample, like 5-10ml, enough to be able to wear it a few times. You may find you still love it a lot and one day you'll buy a full bottle, maybe instead of a couple of cheaper fragrances. But you may also discover that you don't love it as much at all - I found that a few times: a perfume can be lovely when sprayed for test, but once I wore it properly I didn't care much for it, or it gave me a headache. And I was able to let it go without regrets 🙂

I like spraying it on in good time before i go out because it starts very strong and soapy, which i find a little nauseating. After a little bit it gets more floral, but still remains a soapy scent. The floral is fresh and unik, not feminin nor maskulin. It smells like a flower garden after rain. The dry down is my favorite, because then it turns into a comfortable skin scent. The scent is very clean and cosy, but does not last very long.

I was really excited to try this one. I love the listed notes and the idea of replicating a walk in the garden sounded beautiful. I pictured florals with a blanket of green.. unfortunately I instead felt like I got sprayed in the face with a shaken-up soda. The Narcisco Rodriguez comparison is unsurprising, as I feel like many of their fragrances have a fizzy, sweet cola base. This should be called "Promenade in the Coca-Cola Factory."

Florals awashed in iso E super. This has the nondescript smell of the kind of perfumes you encounter on the subway, in the office and from the next table in a restaurant. A perfumey perfume. The kind that make you go, "She's wearing a perfume" rather than "She smells great. WHAT is that??" PSA : potential headache inducer.

It opened with a classic floral then morphed into a spicy, patch-y, masculine sandalwood. The opening is too femme for my hubs, but the dry drown is too masculine for me. It is inoffensive and pleasant overall. Silage and longevity are not great, but it is an EDT.

This starts off quite green, but then it morphs into something more powdery. It quickly becomes a skin scent that is slightly floral and woody. I would rate it a 6/10
