Arashi No Umi

Chance eau Tendre EdT is my favorite scent, but as I am a student I haven't been able to justify the price for a long time. When I saw the notes for this I had a hunch and blind bought it. Upon first spray it is shockingly close to CeT, though I'd say a bit less zingy and sweeter. Makes sense without grapefruit. I can definitely sense a pleasant, soft green apple (not at all the punchy DKNY kind, but not too sweet either). Sometimes I dislike Tendre's citrus for its screechiness, so this is not an unwelcome change. The dry down is also woodier, and lasts longer on my skin than CeT. I'm not super good at identifying florals so I'll leave it here. In a way I find the first spray less interesting than Chance eau Tendre, but overall it is really nice. It is definitely less well blended, and it lacks some of Tendre's delicateness maybe? The drydown is a bit sharper - perhaps this is the synthetic musk other reviewers are mentioning. It's not as comforting to me but I do catch whiffs occasionally that smell exactly like CeT. What I like about them both is this combination of mature notes and more light and sweet, youthful ones - it perfectly fits how I want life to feel. I also appreciate the added longevity of this one, albeit surprising.

I got the discovery set from Maison and oh my god- I've been in love with every scent so far. I'm someone that usually goes for woodsy and musky scents, so I am surprised by how taken I am with this one! I agree that it is a pretty safe scent, like some others have commented, but that doesn't make it any less lovely. It seems most of the scents from this line I've tried seem to share a powdery DNA, like they're all cousins. My con for these perfumes is their staying power. They're gone in a flash. It's lovely and warm where I am right now, so perhaps they might last a tad longer in colder weather, however, that still wouldn't be very long lasting.

i love this scent, its so fruity and floral and fresh like a fresh out the shower smell. something i can wear every day. i finally finished the 15 ml bottle of arashi no umi i got about a year ago so i decided to get the full size. i dont know if the smell of my old bottle just diminished over time or they changed the formula but the difference between the two is crazy. my new bottle smells so much stronger and lasts much longer than the 15 ml. i can barely smell anything from my old bottle when i spray them on each arm to compare. i hope my new one doesn’t start becoming weak and hoping they just changed the formula or something.

Arashi No Umi is simple, but such a joy. There’s something about the combination of notes that gives cold frozen peach. It reminds me of Kakigori, which is a Japanese shaved ice dessert (also depicted being eaten by the little creature on the bottle). My favourite Kakigori flavour when I was a child was always the neon pink peach one, and this fragrance captures exactly that. Vaguely candied, floral, translucent, airy, icy. Not at all a ground-breaking scent profile or super unique, but for me it’s olfactory time travel at a great price point, and such an easy summer reach.

Second i smelled this all Icould think was how refreshing and fruity it smelled. Although yes it doesnt really last long , i still feel the bottle and presentation slightly make up for it. For around 80 dollars this is a great starting niche fragrance. Although it says mostly female, a younger dude could 100% pull this off for a summer daily. The atomizer is also pressurized.

Smells like the most attractive Japanese person you can dream of. I picked this up on my trip to Japan, I knew nothing about this house, nor was it on my “to buy” list, but I ended up forgoing buying a diptyque fragrance and got this instead because it just instantly resonated with my time so far in Japan.

the perfume i fell in love with after getting its tester from the nose shop’s gacha machine. even though it’s my favorite fruit, this is the first time i’m using a green apple fragrance and i absolutely love it

Really nice everyday fragrance. I got the Maison Matine discovery set and this is one of my favorites, and is the longest lasting. Very fruity clean smell, not what I normally go for but good.

smell like japanese shampoo 10/10, fruity and clean

I swear, I have smelled something very similar before, long time ago. Overall, it's a nice scent. Woody, fruity, a little powdery, but with some freshness and lightness. It evokes somewhat cold, serious and strong vibes. 'Arashi No Umi' translates as 'Typhoon of Sea', which may explain my connotations. Still it's appropriate for daytime and for work. I scrolled down to the "reminds me of" section and saw the comparison to Chanel Chance Eau Tendre and I couldn't unsee the similarity. It does have the same facet as Chance Eau Tendre, but with more emphasis on the cedar note that is warmed by sandalwood. There are a few scents from this brand that I enjoy a lot more, however. Love the bottle design and the 15 ml bottles.

This a fresh, and sweet fragrance with prominent notes of peach, apple and fresia. Three notes I absolutely love in perfumery so my hopes were high! Though, it falls slightly flat for me? The jasmine/ylang fits right in, and the sandalwood gives that delicious creamy base with that fresh and soapy musk that ties it all together. It has the shampoo fresh quality to it, not in a negative way at all, but unfortuntely it smells cheap? It smells like something more generic than what I thought this brand was aiming for? But I will not say anything negative about this because I do like it. It is generic in the same way ‘Jimmy Choo’ by Jimmy Choo is generic. Girly and simple, but it works.

Opening smells like Chanel Chance Eau Tendre. I have the Eau Tendre EDP and it smells like that. Though it could smell like the EDT as well. They're rather similar. Very pretty, fresh floral. Lasts 4-6 hours on my skin with very soft projection. Not the greatest performer. But great for being at home and smelling pretty, or for a fresh summer bed-time fragrance. Is a pretty fragrance that is more feminine than unisex I'd say.

A fresh and fun perfume. Perfect for spring and summer. For fruity floral lovers. Very good value for this French fragrance. It reminds me of Japan! They have female hygiene products in this scent named as “rose”. Shampoos, deodorants, body sprays, body wash, etc. it’s such a common scent! No wonder it’s the most popular one there from maison matine line. One spray away to Japan :)

I'm crying because this is such a beautiful, innocent, easily wearable clean summer scent, but the projection and longetivity are so weak, that it ruins everything. You can smell this for maximum 20 minutes if you're really close to the skin.

Super easy reach but not too long lasting - which I don’t mind when it’s a fresh, fruity clean type of scent. The type of scent that makes you smell like you just used a fruity shampoo. Very much reminds me of Marc Jacob’s Daisy.

Dang! If this (or any of MM’s fragrances) had some dang staying power I’d really like this as my summer scent! Such a yummy sweet green apple. Why can’t they make anything that doesn’t die upon contact with a human. :(

Great scent but lasts very short

This review is truly just for my own archive. With that disclaimer out of the way; I wish I liked this! The green apple and peach top notes are super intriguing to me, but it smelled like any other fruity floral. I'm admittedly a novice to all of this, and would love to give it a second or even third wear, but worst of all: it gives me a headache! I think I'm sensitive/allergic to the musk note in it. TL;DR a very nice, if forgettable, floral that gave me a headache 💔

A stormy sea? Not quite. Arashi No Umi is less turbulent waves, more hotel shampoo—clean, fruity, inoffensive. Green apple and peach fizz together like a translucent gel lathering in your hands, fresh but indistinct. A whisper of greenery sortaaaa tries to cut through, but its efforts are mostly fleeting. Safe is all this scent is.

It's okay. I've never been crazy about Chance Eau Tendre or Daisy, and this is pretty similar. Grassy fruity floral. Fresh but also full of the edge of synthetic musky apple. Sweet and banal. Didn't really want this kind of scent from a niche house. Smells good to other people, but too synthetic for me to enjoy on myself.

A watery floral with a decent amount of synthetic musk (ambroxan) and synthetic woods. I have a discovery set from this house and I find most (not all) to be overly synthetic and headache-inducing, and this is one of them. It's a scruber for me.

Beautiful perfume, really great for spring. Many of the listed notes are possible to be perceived clearly: apple, jasmine and musk mainly stand out, but the powdery aspect of roses, the sweetness of the ylang-ylang, the cleanliness of the freesia and the juiciness of the peach are also there. The woody notes nevertheless probably just add some fixation to the composition but they are hardly perceptible. I am loving the fragrance as much as I love the bottles by the brand.
