Esprit De Contradiction

This is gorgeous and deserves more attention! It has a beautiful citrusy opening that dries down to a heavenly skin scent that surrounds you all day. Smells warm, clean and a bit musky, in the same sense as Glossier You, only not as woody and dry. It also reminds me quite a bit of Bal d’Afrique from Byredo. On my skin it definitely leans feminine, but I wouldn’t mind a man wearing it. Longevity is great on my skin, spayed on before bed, and could still smell it well on my skin when I woke up next morning. Last days on clothes. I’ve gotten so many compliments wearing this perfume, from young and old people. This is a hidden gem for sure!

Oh, instant love. I agree that this doesn't last long enough to really be a signature scent, but I would love a giant bottle of this that I could just spray on all day in the summertime. Perfect blend of musks, citrus, and vetiver. Soft, airy, gentle, unisex heaven. Maybe if you overspray you might be able to smell it longer? I would be willing to buy this and experiment, it's right up my alley.

On me this starts off fruity and yummy and clean without being cloying, then dries down to powdery woodsy goodness. But the staying power? What staying power? I really love this scent but it disappears so quickly! Like- fifteen minutes maybe??

I hate that I love this. The brand creates some of the blandest creation I have ever seen, but this one stood out. Bitter, musky citrus, probably the best take for the clean musk trope of fragrance I have ever seen!

LOVE the scent but quite ephemeral. Has none of the notes I hate — warm, sticky, sweet, manly. Just simple and crisp. Just very short lasting

The very first second of ‘Esprit De Contradiction’ is a masculine citrus with a big -BIG- summery vibe. But when it melts down onto my skin it gets slightly more unisex, but that summer vibe is my biggest takeout of this. This is Fanta Lemon and fresh fruits on the balcony after a long day in the sun. This is Nivea sunscreen and after-sun-lotion with sand stuck between your toes in the slippers you have been walking in whilst going to and home from the beach. The fragrance itself is well blended and it is hard to pick apart the notes, but the ylang stands out as a sweet helper that pulls every string into that relaxing vibe. It is a rather clean scent, lemon, musk and a slightly spicy ginger, mixed with a dry vetiver gives a nice vibrating feel. Though, none of the other spices really show up on my skin except for maaaaaybe sage. Though, that is such a big maybe that I would rather not say it. Unfortunately, I do not get any woody notes either, and the fragrance disappears quite quickly from my skin as a regular citrus/musk often does. But this gets a big plus point for being one of the cutest bottles from this brand. I mean look at that cute little duck, how is it possible to not love him?

So weird but nice. On paper I cannot smell a single thing after the initial whiff of gin tonic (5min). On my skin, it’s different, first I have the gin tonic but softer, then the spice come, it get warmer and then It settle like a baby smell, kind of like baby lotion brand (mustela). It’s not bad and kind of addictive actually. Fresh and soft I would say

To me, this is a board room fragrance (in a good way). It is clean, fresh, unisex, and inoffensive. It doesn't project much and isn't cloying or headache causing. I love the way Maison Matine perfumes evolve as you wear them. This one is no exception although the change is not as dramatic as others.

Bright, clean, citrus. Fresh out of the shower - or possibly still in the shower washing up with good body wash and exfoliating with the corresponding sugar scrub. It smells like a 1 hour long everything shower where you end up the cleanest you've ever been. Easy to wear, unisex.

This is the nicest fragrance from this range. I get bitter lemon with soapy bubblebath, gin ‘n’ tonic and a salty musk. It’s an easy unisex wear for keeping that shower freshness with you all day. A gym-bag/summertime scent to fight sweat with aromatic unisex cleanliness.

I like the lemon and coriander top notes, but this completely disappears after 15 minutes. I absolutely can’t smell it at all. I tried several times. I’ve never had this experience before, and the other fragrances in my discovery set are fine.

sprayed this on my bf and it’s soooo yummy, a more masculine version of what missing person is on women which is to say it doesn’t smell synthetic at all, it just smells like a person. gonna buy for his bday I think

Not sure why, but I don't get any of the notes listed. I get white flowers and ambrox. Pretty and wearable, but with poor longevity.

This is a BU Wild dupe, the one from the 90s 😂 . I liked the 'original', I like this.

This smells like the body sprays that I used to wear in my teenage years...something on the lines of Impulse or Sure/Rexona. Nothing special in my opinion. Way overpriced for what is a sugary lemon smell.

It opens with a clean lemon note and dries down with pepper, orris root and musk, creating an earthy atmosphere. I like the opening but I don't like the smokiness in the dry down.

Opening is a blast of citrus and flowers, after 10mins I almost can't smell the perfume. Really faint musk smell with hints of citrus...strange

It’s not my cup of tea, unfortunately. Very powdery, I didn’t expect it to be that sweet and iris-like for me. Maybe cloves and Yilang Yilang make it way too warm spicy. More like old fashioned hand cream. If you like warm sweet spicy scents go for it, for me it just provokes the headache:(

Love this, its super subtle and if you want to give more longevity give a good 4-5 squibs plus some on your clothing. if you like L'Histoires 1969 and Ormonde Jaynes Osmanthus you'll love this.

Nothing contradictory about this. It's a herby, musky, citrus, slightly on the male side of unisex.
