Poom Poom

This perfume was a love at first sniff for me. And I'm usually quite picky, I dont like a lot of perfumes. I prefer my scents linear, simple, but I dont want anything too basic either. I want sweet and feminine, but I don't want too sweet, or too girly. I want delicate, not cloying, but I want longevity and just a bit of depth. I don't want to stand out, but I don't want to be bored. I think I finally found something perfect for me. This feels fresh and clean but not cold. It is easy to wear it is not annoying or overbearing but it also has just enough uniqueness to not be 'just" a shower scent, or shampoo scent. It feels new, even if it's composed with notes we all have seen before. It feels modern without being snobbish. It makes me feel happy, confident, put together, but relaxed, all at once. I bought this and wore it during a spring holiday and it felt perfect for the occasion. I think this is a daytime, casual scent. Even if its subtle and pleasing, I would not wear this at the office. Not because it would be indecent, but because I wanna keep it for times of leisure, and creativity. It is too much a playful and free vibe to bring it to work. It is good from start to finish, the first spray is uplifting energy, then close to the skin it feels a bit flirty, finally the dry down is comforting and cosy. On my skin it blends easily and I almost forget about it until someone tells me I smell great. I think it is the first time I found a scent that matches so seamlessly with my chemistry. Less is more for me in perfumes. I am already addicted to this one.

I absolutely love it! Love at first sniff. I am shocked that it has such a low rating - it doesn't deserve a low rating. Don't expect this to be an evening scent, but it is fabulous for everyday wear, office or even a date. It reminds me of something Victoria's Secret would release in their fruity-floral mist category but more elevated. It's universally pleasing, light, fruity, fresh, clean, uplifting, a mood booster. I like the fun design and graphic on the bottle. Blind buy worthy or as a gift - I don't think there are many people who would say that this scent is unpleasant or off-putting.

This fragrance made me perk right up in my chair as I unwrapped the sample. First sniff is fresh, bright floral with something softly shimmering in the background. Airy but grounded. Subtle and leaves a soft trail as you walk, very inoffensive and soft to the nose. I audibly said “oooooo!” and my partner came in the room to ask what smelled so great. I’m shocked at the low ratings, as this scent is pure happiness and whimsy without an overbearing citrus note, small space friendly, and just plain sophisticated-cute. Immediately purchased a full bottle.

Smells like eating a fresh juicy kiwi and mandarin fruit bowl while on the balcony of your island bed and breakfast suite as a floral garden breeze wafts on by. It is also like 90s and early aughts Herbal Essences shampoo, which I like. Very pleasant fresh fruity floral fragrance. Sillage: 2/5 Projection: 2/5 Longevity: 2/5 Leans feminine

It opens very floral and more feminine. But in the dry down it’s a more fresh floral smell that can be worn by both men and women. On my skin it projects great, almost 8h, and after 12h I’m still gettin reminded that it’s there. Good price value

Delicate fragrance with musky and powdery undertones which last all day.

In my month of reviewing Maison Matine, I have come to a realisation that a lot of their fragrances evoke memories for me. It feels really on par with the brand, and their carefree attitude towards perfumery, labels and boundaries. And even though I do not own any of their perfumes (yet...?) I will still consider it to be a great house that I view fondly. Enough of my anecdotes... ‘Poom Poom’ is fresh and sweet with a prominent kiwi and a lot of white flowers. For me, the freesia is the flower that stand out the most, followed by the peony. It feels tropical, but borderline cloying, like a humid and hot summer day where the only thing you want it to either jump in the ocean or find some shade. I do not really smell the rose isolated, which is positive in my “I don’t really like rose”-book. It is also surprising given that the rose note is listed both in the top and middle notes according to the Fragrantica perfume pyramid. The perfume is good, but it feels quite generic. It is a little bit too much, a bit to screechy, and as someone wrote in a review further down here: “I don’t know if I actually like it or if it’s just the nostalgia”. I couldn’t agree more. It gives of that aquatic floral vibe that perfumes smelled like in the early 2000’s. That is what makes me say that it smells a tad juvenile and shampoo-fresh. Almost like a girls locker room at the swimming pool.

My mom brought home a couple of random perfume samples for me from her trip to a coastal town in Spain, and I instantly loved this one. It reminded me of a VS perfume I had in the 90s that came in a flower stem (with the cap being the bloom). It’s so fresh and juicy and light. I got lots of compliments, even when people didn’t realize they were complimenting me. These two guys walked right by me and one said to the other “mmm, something smells good, what is that smell?”. I was also told it smells sort of fresh and herbal (though I wonder if maybe humid outdoor smells were just mixing well with the chemistry of the perfume). It lasts foreverrrr...even when I went swimming in the ocean for hours (?!?!). This perfume does better when sprayed lightly...if you overspray it can border on screechy. Spray lightly but on multiple pulse points and you’ll be in a beautiful cloud of scent all day. Edit- got yet another random compliment. Guy at the pool said “you smell HEAVENLY!” Layer: Base: Trader Joe’s Brazil Nut Body Cream or SDJ Brazilian Bum Bum Cream First layer fragrance: Light sprays of Burberry Goddess or Goddess Intense, back of neck, under collar bones, and wrists Top: wait a few minutes then layer Poom Poom on top of those same fragrance points Voila...you too will smell *heavenly*

It smells like a good antiperspirant wants to smell (while I want it to smell of nothing). On the cap! It smells different on a blotter paper, and it smells different again on my wrist. The cap smelled like powdery fruits (and I liked it!). The blotter smells like greens groceries section, it's fruity oregano. My wrist smells like a musky watermelon rind. I don't even know what to think. As I smelled the cap, I wanted to buy it, but now it's so meh to me. Worth trying though, it's rather inexpensive, and there is a small "travel" size. UPD: I bought it. It smells mostly of freesia, and it smell nostalgic to me, but not in either good or bad way. I will wear it, but it's not anything worth much attention; I may pass it on later to a friend or a relative. Poor longevity, needs to be oversprayed first and renewed later. --- P.S. I own "Tu Te Calmes", and on me it's beautiful, especially in hot weather, it's GREEN (needs re-applying though). I thought I'd like "Lost In Translation", I intended to buy it, but that one is not right for me either.

Poom Poom unfurls playful, playful, and so playful. Juicy kiwi fruit-drenched rose colliding with pulpy, sun-warmed sweet orange and an unexpected flourish of floral orchid. It’s like catching a glimpse of a secret garden in mid-spring, vibrant and ripe. Yet, somewhere in the brightness, a synthetic echo intrudes. It carries a hint of hair soap—not the delicate, airy kind, but a cloying, juvenile vibe that feels too manufactured for its otherwise natural disposition. Think of a makeup novice spamming otherwise beautiful glittery highlighter, such that the glow is vastly overdone. The composition is youthful, almost cartoonish in its exuberance—a scent that shimmers with the innocence of freshly cut fruit, but with an undercurrent that whispers of overt cleanness. It’s charming in its own quirky way, yet it never quite captures my heart. I like it, sure—there’s a spark—but that glossy, synthetic veil leaves it as a sweet dalliance rather than a lasting romance.

underrated!! The only fresh fruity fragrance I own, other fruity ones I own would be Narco Oasis and Dulce Diablo, but they are more sticky sweet. This fragrance has a nuanced lotiony undertone to it, to my nose, do not know what it is from, perhaps that is the effect of freesia and peony to me. I love the interpretation of kiwi, and I think the kiwi-orange combination is really pleasing and unique to me, not cloying at all. That said, this is definitely a lot better during spring and summer. This perfume is worth a sample, I've never smelled anything else like it on the market. Its projection is a little weak, but its longevity is amazing. I can still smell it on me very clearly 8 hours in. I don't really smell the base notes. But they must be what allows the fruitiness to last for hours. also: smells 'high quality', no cheap musks or so that bbw might have

I'm genuinely shocked this is one of my favorites from the sample set. I love it and I generally hate rose notes. The top notes make it smell nostalgic like a 90s/2000s body spray. Romantic in the way of a first crush. Then, it dries down to a beautiful deep scent reminiscent of STORA SKUGGAN's Moonmilk (I tried them at the same time and after drying down couldn't tell them apart). My favorite thing about all of Maison Matine's fragrances is that they evolve. After you spray them, they will smell completely different an hour later. To me, this is the quintessential day to evening scent.

This is my latest purchase. It was a quick buy because it just radiates optimism. The kiwi notes are coming off strong. It smells like a summer/spring day with friends full of laughter and fun. It just makes me smile. I would wear this during leisure time and on weekends and to lift up my mood. However I could imagine this to be a daily for some. This is a young scent but not too teenager like. In four words Poom Poom is : fun,fresh,playful,trustworthy

The first time I tested Poom Poom in-store, I immediately fell in love with the nostalgic freshness. It smells like summer as a child: slightly soapy, almost like suncream, and a little fruity. Bright and lively. I don't find this to be a long lasting scent, but I can lightly smell it on my clothes the day after (I do not reapply during the day). I think it is perfect for a daily spring/summer perfume and is an affordable scent.

A lighthearted, fruity floral scent which is ideal for spring and summer months. It’s easy to wear and feels carefree. Unfortunately, the performance is also lighthearted and it disappeared on me within an hour. I wear it to bed as a happy fragrance. I have a travel bottle and I won’t repurchase.

Smells very fruity juicy floral yum. I enjoyed the first spray but it did in fact smell exactly like a bath and body spray that I’ve had before so that kind of put me off it. After a few minutes it settles a bit more and I find it more pleasant and less in your face.

Nice floral and ozonic smell from the kiwi. Fruity floral from opening to dry down, nothing unique but quite nice for the price. It turns soapy clean after 1 hour. Definitely woman oriented.

This was an impulsive buy, I don't usually go for really fruity scents, but this is nice. It smells exactly like shampoo or a spray-on deodorant. Not bad, not great. Love the name, though

A fun and happy fragrance. Fresh and clean, in fact with the notes of rose, kiwi, peony, sandalwood, musk, etc. Office compatible. Floral / fruity perfume!

It’s a clean likable scent for anyone and any occasion. Disappears in a few minutes

This one reminds me of Carolina Herrera's Very Good Girl, but without the (sometimes cloying) vanilla. So in comparison, it is a lot more fresh and light. The scent is reminiscent of hairspray a bit. There's nothing outstanding really. It's easy going, inoffensive, and may be a good gift to a youngin'. Again, I emphasize on Maison Matine's perfume bottles and the graphic design. Very fun bottle design.

I like Poom Poom's sillage, but I don't like it up close on skin. The kiwi note is really scratchy close up and starts smelling chemically, like deodorant. But in the air, this is nice, soft, peachy, fruity floral. It doesn't smell like peach, but it is peach colored in my head, like that kind of fuzzy fruity floral, not citric. I think I would prefer it as a candle.

This is how I want to smell for the rest of my life. It is a gorgeous cheerful fragrance. Fresh, sweet, clean vibe that can work year-round for everyday use. The price is also good. My only problem is longevity and projection, but with this price I can live with it.

Remember walking into the school locker room and through a cloud of Impulse body spray? This is what Poom Poom smells like – a puff of powdery, fruity, flowery, maybe even deodorising air. I don't hate it, but I also don't want to carry it into my adult life.

Shampoo smell: Fruity, floral, tropical, clean.

This had potential early on--a fruity floral (mostly peony) with a mass-appealing DNA. It took a turn for the worst as the freesia became dominant along with a sharp, screechy musk. Someone below mentioned it smells like hairspray- and I agree. It's a pass.

I've been looking for peony perfumes and forgot I had this one. I love kiwi and peony but I'm not super crazy about freesia. I wish the peony and orchid notes were amped up and the freesia was a little softened. Times like these I'm grateful for the original BBW line that had lots of solinote body sprays. Does anyone remember Freesia? Yeah, not a fan favorite. Country Apple, Warm Vanilla Sugar and Plumeria were the crowd favorites. Honeysuckle and freesia were the ones you got if you had to get 5 to get the deal and they were all out of faves like Sun Ripened Raspberry. Anyhoo, back to Poom Poom. I think I didn't reach for Poom Poom because of that freesia note. So, if you love fruity florals and LOVE freesia-this is a must have for you! Also, this has a high oil content because my hand is glistening from the oils in the spray so you know you're getting a good amount of actual perfume and not buying a bottle of alcohol. The kiwi and orange evaporate off and you're left with a mostly freesia and peony musky fragrance. A little white chocolate in this would be super nice. I'm going to end up getting the Pivoine perfume by Fragonard for times like these when I need a good boost of peony

I don’t even know if I actually like it or if it’s just the nostalgia speaking but it reminds me of something from my childhood in the 90s and early 2000s. Maybe a product I used to have at home or a perfume a teacher used to wear. This smells like the feeling of your last day at school before summer holiday begins. Carefree, lighthearted. The fruity notes fade away so quickly on me, but I like that about it. I want to wear it on a sunny day off, with colourful shoes and a white blouse and those bouncy butterfly hair clips I used to love as a kid.

this is Britney Spears Fantasy's older, cooler cousin - she doesn't take herself too seriously, but she's got confidence and drive - i.e., there's whimsy (and nostalgia), but it's kept clean and sophisticated. the overall impression is of courage and kindness. this is the scent my child-self wanted us to wear (with a pixie cut and a nose stud). and sometimes i do - and it makes me feel every bit spunky and sweet and fun (still don't have the nose stud, though).

I like this scent. Its a 7/10. "Out of the shower smell" This is what you want yo wear when you're travelling, in a hot climate or at work. Smells fresh like apple/herbal essences or fructis shampoo. Its similar to Toy 2 but more sweeter, fruitier. I prefer Toy2 as its fresher and more soapy.

this wasn't so easy to judge for me. it's not bad, but i'd rather not wear or own it. it's kinda refreshing but warm still. i smell a lot of rose and i'm not exactly certain what kiwi smells like ? but i guess i don't love it.

I want this just for the name, I don’t even care about the juice. Lol. IYKYK. Edit: Bought a bottle, and it's so, so cute. A delicate Peony, floral vanilla that just glows and makes you feel so clean and feminine.

Very refreshing, very similar Ariana Grande Thank U Next, really get the 2.0 on the dry down. Both fragrances are a bit alcohol heavy, this one improves on that but still too much that I’m smelling
