L'eau de Louis XV

This is a citrus amber scent with soft floral nuances and a honeyed, slightly dirty and intimate kind of vibe. I've been to Versailles and I've visited the palace, and I do remember smelling a vague dirty, intimate, honey like smell in many of the rooms. It felt like a distant whisper of secret seduction behind heavy velvet curtains, a faint memory of love and passion amongst royals and their mistresses and lovers. And this fragrance captures that ambience perfectly. It's a sunny, regal and benevolent scent with sensual, passionate undertones. A beautiful homage to an era long gone. Silage is medium for the first hour or so, then slowly becomes more of a skin scent. Longevity is medium, about 4-6 hours on my skin, depending on temperature.

The neroli is gorgeous first of all, secondly, it blends with the florals so well without smelling too "clean". This smells just as intimate as Mme de Pompadour by de Barry, but is more "awake" and seems to me more suited for the day. It shows up just as magnificently in cold weather as warm and I can't wait for warm humid days in the summer to see how well it projects. I will be getting more perfumes from de Barry, the quality in the fragrances is unmatched from my, admittedly limited, experience.

i just received this iconic perfume , i was hard for me to get it i needed to order it online without any idea or expectation how it will smell ; actually this is the 1st perfume which satisfy my starve for neroli , i tried it directly when received i was on my desk and everybody noticed a nice perfume in the air ; heaven of neroli ; not only that , the flower notes added gives richness and charm without fading the main neroli ; Merci Mr.Louis VX et Grand Merci Mr.Nicolas

This is my favourite Neroli perfume.

This is a combination of neroli, white floral, jasmines, and grassy dew as it swings in one direction beginning with pure niroli as it gives an effect of a cologne but in a quality that never falls. After 5 minutes the white floral appears mixed with neroli giving the mineral watery floral & neroli. After 10 minutes the jasmines raises up and also swings between the top note "neroli" and the slightly rancid jasmines giving the masculinity that a real man deserves. After 20 minutes the blend turns grassy on a fresh dew but in a vantage way. Barry's blending method is vintage, he either uses old oils or uses the methods of blending that has been used in the Victorian age, and i think he uses both. He also uses natural very high quality oils that raises standards and spoils the senses!

I tested L'eau de Louis XV and L'eau de la Marquise de Pompadour. They all have carnations, roses, tuberose, jasmine, gardenia, Narcissus, hyacinth, and violet notes, somehow the king smells sweeter than his royal mistress, haha. But I can imagine that Madame de Pompadour is stronger in the political arena, so her perfume has a more masculine, metallic light. L'eau de Louis XV is a high quality fresh floral fragrance using many natural materials. The orange blossoms are quite shiny, and the jasmine has the sweetness of nectar. I can even smell a little tea in it.

Gorgeous floral . High quality essences ! And a subtle dash of neroli and amber to enhance the whole composition ! Masterpiece !
