Feu Patchouli

A limpid patchouli is not the type of patchouli I thought I would ever encounter, but here, I tip my hat to Bertrand Duchaufour for illuminating this fabled botanical in a way that preserves its core spirit (is it fractionated?), but allows it to be stitched between other accords. Feu Patchouli feels backlit by Pogostemon cablin, while the other elements punctuate: blackcurrant bud and citrus zest, an herbaceous wormwood, and a panoply of warm spices, most notably clove. There are moments when I think it smells hopelessly modern, but then I am struck by an unexpected texture and whiff of nostalgia. With bitter contrasting with sweet, woody yet ethereal, it even gives me suggestions of grains and oats, and humus. Then there is this spiky, stimulating surrealism that my mind at first reads as alien or synthetic and then seems to rematerialize into something seemingly very natural, which makes me ponder perception. Feu Patchouli is a fascinating and fulfilling wear.

This suits a classy masculine wardrobe. It indeed gives some "old school aftershave" vibes in the start, but the dry-down is much sweeter, with warm spices, and it somehow reminds of some Arabic fragrances without the overpowering strength of those. It's not a new or creative fragrance, but it's very well done! I would love my husband to wear this one.

I have a big collection - so it’s hard to find something that truly impresses me these days. This one did. Spicy, cinnamon clove patchouli and caramel work so beautifully together. My only regret is getting a 50ml vs a 100ml. This is a 10/10 for me.

There is no other patchouli like this out there. Stunning part is its airiness. For patchouli it is so hard to be airy and this is perfect example of one. Duchafour seemed to be insired by Ellena to make something this crystal clear and outstanding.

A spicy patchouli, perfect for a man. Versatile, easy to wear, it is a complex scent. I do not like patchouli, but I love spices... Here, the mixture is very well done. Warm amber-patchouli nucleus orbited by a sparkling cloud of fresh spices and citruses. Hot-n-cold with bright citruses, heavy clove and pepper, plus a mixture of sweet notes and resinous undertones. Has a lightly smoky, woody "snuffed campfire" base. Moderately soft projection for 3-4hr fades to an intimate scent bubble, longevity 16hr+. The "snuffed campfire" bit reminds me of Le Labo Patchouli 24, but this has more freshness on top of it. A birch tar thing, as far as I'm aware. Patchouli 24 leans into it wholeheartedly, however, whereas this plays with the juxtoposition of a warm base and cool top.

The perfume has different openings in the warm over 25C+ weather - earthy patchouli, close to skin; and in the cooler one (around 20+C) that gives life to slightly sweet spices. Even though I like patchouli, I prefer the second scenario. The whole aura reminds me of Kenzo Jungle. Of course, Jungle is much more pungent whereas Feu Patchouli is well-combined and soft. I do not feel silage but the smell stays intimately around the neck circa 5 hours

Feu Patchouli is surprisingly lightweight for such a note profile. I agree, it is an airy patchouli, something like Chanel does as its signature patchouli sparkle. I like this, it has some greenery, some incense, quite interesting, but not too bold.

Blast of spices in the opening and in the dry down becomes softer with touch of sweetness. It’s rich, dark, dense and intoxicating. Love this creation, well blended.

An old-school after-shave type of patchouli, too aery but M. Duchafour cleverly plays with the great flaw of this composition (and of the whole brand) to bring new notes for this type of accord and nevertheless offer a little educational trip for the perfumista by playing with the boundaries between the chypre and spicy categories. The best one in this brand but it is not significant given the general level

اصلا برام دوست داشتنی نبود شروع عطر با رایحه ای اسپایسی و نسبتا غلیظ از زعفران و گُل میخک که بوی رز هم به وضوح توش حس میشه به مشام می رسه و وایب یک عطر رزی_اسپایسیِ عربی رو میده مُرکبات هم اصلا طراوت و تازگی ندارند و زیر خروار ادویه ها خفه شده اند پچولی توی این عطر اون چهره ی خاکی و گزنده رو نداره،حداقل توی شروع بیشتر فضای چوبی_ادویه ای داره که اون هم با اجرایی مصنوعی و ناپخته کار شده اما اواخر عمر عطر ته بویی خاکی از پچولی به مشام می رسه شیرینی عطر زیاده.تقریبا میشه گفت بعد از یکی دو دقیقه‌ی ابتدایی که فضای اسپایسی غالب هست،از اون به بعد یک شیرینی تصنعی پیداش میشه که به تمام نت ها چسبیده.حتی جنس این شیرینی هم دلچسب نیست که حداقل از وجه شیرین عطر لذت ببرم بعد از نیمه های عطر؛بوی رز و زعفران دیگه حس نمیشه و ادویه ها شروع به خُشک شدن می کنند ته بوی خاکی_اسموکی می گیره و نسبت به شروع بهتر میشه اما در کل اصلا عطر جالب ای نیست *************** scent:5/10 longevity:8.5/10 sillage:8/10 purchase value:2/10 ******* overall:5.9/10

I don’t think the citrus and patchouli play well together. It dries down to a version of old spice 🤷🏼

فو پچولی یا پچولیه آتشین سومین تست من از مزون ربچی با ی نگاه اجمالی به ترکیبات معرفی شده این عطر میشه پی برد چه چیز تو مخیه اصلا نمیتونم بپذیزم دوشافو یکی از پرفیومرهای مورد علاقم این عطر رو ساخته باشه ... تو کل طول عمر عطر وقتی تمرکز داشتم روی رایحه ی پارادوکسی از حس مدرنیته و کهنگی رایحه توش شناور بود . استارت فو پچولی با حجم زیادی از فضای اسپایسی و چوبی و الدییدی مواجه میشیم . انگار ی خروار ادویه تازه کوبیده شده رو با ی مشت ساقه و برگ گیاه ژرانیوم قاطی کرده باشند . تیپ بوی عطرهای هندی پاکستانی طور داره بوی نت های سیتروسی فرش و فیزی نیست بوی پوست پلاسیده لیمو و آکوردی نا مفهوم و سبز همراهشه ... هیچ خبری از بوی قارچی و کپکی و منتولیه پچولی توش نیست تا عطر بره رو هرم میانی و قلب رایحه . واقعا اگه از بوهای عصبی و کمپلکس ادویه ای و هربال لذت نمی‌برد سمت این عطر نیاید . الدیید مثل سوزن نیش میزنه تو اعصاب مغز و کلافه کننده می‌کنه همه چی رو من شخصا آستانه تحملم حتی برای تست این سبک عطرها کمه طبق معمول این برند تو کلیییات رایحه فضای سنتتیک حکمفرماست . احساس میکنم از هیچ مواد طبیعی تو این برند استفاده نمیشه از نق زدنهای بیش ازحدم که از این برند بگذریم . میرسم به درای داون و اونجایی که حس چوبی و رزینی و پچولی ابراز وجود میکنند . تصور کنید تو چین یا هند هستید و تو ی معبد قدیمی . شیشه ای کوچک و تیره روی طاقچه میبیند که روش نوشته اکسیر جاویدان که مربوط به قرنها پیشه . در شیشه. و باز میکنید و ببوید . معطره اما خیلی کهنست و قدیمی . فو پچولی ی همچین حسی رو برای من داشت تقابلی از گذشته تا امروز بوی کهنگی و سبز و اسپایسی تنیده شده با مولکهای سنتتتیک . من این عطرو دوست نداشتم . بلندینگ عطر که فاجعست . یخوده به روایح سنتتیک حساس باشید قشنگ ازارتون میده اگه از روایح تیز و قوی و هندی پاکستانی طور هم لذت میبرید شاید این عطرو بپسندید . این اینسنس استیک های هندی رو دقت کردید ( که بعضییا به اشتباه بهشون میگن عود )بعضی فروشگاها روشن میکنند و بوی کثافتش حال آدمو بهم میزنه ؟ فو پچولی فضای دور از ی همچین حس بویایی نداره . پخش بوی فو پچولی تقریبا زیاده و موندگاریش روی پوست به راحتی یک روز کامل رو کاور می‌کنه رایحه عطر اصلا زیبا و عامه پسند نیست .

It has a very special atmosphere. It is different from the patchouli-based perfumes you know. Although in the first moments of the spray, you get the same earthy, patchouli feeling, but later it evoked a floral, creamy, amber and saffron space for me. In my opinion, it is one of those perfumes that can be called Niche Parfum because of the specialness of the scent. The fragrance trend is from bitterness to sweetness. This tendency towards sweets was not pleasant for me. ❓Like a viking? In my opinion, no. I don't even think it's relevant. ⚠️ Viking has a completely aromatic atmosphere. But in feu, the spice is dominant. Especially for me, the saffron that is not in the pyramid is very tangible. Viking is slightly sweetened in the drydown. But the sweetness in feu can be understood shortly after spraying. The atmosphere of feu is creamy, oily and Amber, but Viking is fresh and powdery. In short, viking is fresh spicy, but feu is warm spicy. The difference is huge. In my opinion, patchouli in this fragrance is sweet. فضای خیلی خاصی داره. با عطرهای پچولی محوری که میشناسید فرق داره. گرچه در لحظات اولیه اسپری همون حس خاکی طور پچولی رو درک میکنید ، اما در ادامه فضایی گلی ، خامه ای و امبری و زعفرانی هم برای من تداعی کرد. به نظر من از آن دسته عطرایی هست که بشه اسمش رو نیش پرفیوم گذاشت بخاطر خاص بودن رایحه. روند عطر از تلخی به سمت شیرینی هست. این گرایش به سمت شیرینی برای من دلپذیر نبود. شبیه وایکینگ؟ خیر . وحتی به نظر من بیربط ⚠️ وایکینگ فضایی کاملا آروماتیک دارد. اما در feu ادویه غالب است . بالاخص برای من، زعفرانی که در هرم نیست خیلی ملموس هست . وایکینگ در درای داون به میزان "خیلی کم ".شیرین میشود . اما شیرین بودن در feu اندکی پس از اسپری شدن قابل درک هست . فضای feu خامه ای و چرب و امبری هست اما وایکینگ فرش و پودری ست . بصورت خلاصه اینکه وایکینگ فرش اسپایسی ست اما feu وارم اسپایسی. تفاوت بسیار است بنظر من پچولی بکار رفته درین عطر از نوع شیرین است

I had never heard of this house before but am starting to explore patchoulis so threw it into the cart last minute when ordering a sample of HdP Noir Patchouli. First wear: this is a warm patchouli, not grassy or dank, soil-like or chocolatey. The promo blurb describes it as an exploding brass ensemble. I would not say explosion but more mellow brass, spicy yes but in a very smooth way. I found the projection relatively soft (on a 30-degree plus day) but it remained a skin scent for perhaps 7 hours. It's quite lovely and different to the few other patchouli fragrances I have tested (e.g. Coromandel, Tempo) in that it seems satisfyingly rounded but not heavy. It almost has a sheerness even though it is warming, and it is definitely a patchouli you could wear in summer. However, at $199AUD for 50 ml, I would want either better projection or 100 ml so I could spray more liberally. EDIT: Second wear on the hand. There is a sweetish note that makes it intriguing for me. Today this note struck me as being more masculine, although I think this is a unisex perform. Not sure if this could be the wormwood? Or cloves? I think would smell very alluring on a man (but it wouldn't stop me wearing it as a woman).

I'm not a fan of this one. The initial blast is semi sweet and not really pleasant. There's some pepper, citrus (citron?), and a harsh chemical of which the smell is difficult to describe. Perhaps it's an aromatic cassis accord. In any case, not the best opening. A bit later on, it smells like a mixture of cinnamon, clove, and a pinch of something fresh, which reminds me of aldehydes, though this accord is buried under the spicy-woody heart notes. There's a hint of something powdery as well but mostly it's a spicy, semi sweet scent and sadly one of Duchaufour's lesser compositions. I also smell an herbal element which to me seems out of place. I hardly get any patchouli out of it, so to me the name is quite misleading. In any case, it's a very bland, kind of harsh and uninspried, spicy-woody blend which is very forgettable. Performance is okay, nothing great by any means. Not for me. 5/10

Feu Patchouli is pleasant enough. The opening is quite beautiful, with sparkling citruses and the fruitiness of blackcurrant, and with the warm crackle of patchouli already detectable. Betrand Duchaufour says he created Feu Patchouli as a chypre, but with patchouli present at every phase. In the heart, Feu Patchouli features a kitchen-sink of warm, spicy notes - quite dapper actually and very appropriate for autumn. Dries down slightly sweeter to a collection of synth-woods, with the scratchiness of patchouli ever present. I find myself conflicted: I think if it were a designer men's fragrance, I would find it very interesting, refined, and attractive. On the other hand, when compared to some other niche patchouli offerings, Feu Patchouli is unimaginative, synthetic, and too overtly masculine.

Well the opening is like a grown ups version of Axe(Lynx) Africa - its immediately recognisable and I know I cant be the only one that thinks it haha
