Vanille Riviera

For a fragrance named Vanille Riviera, I expected a lot more vanilla upfront but got light green and white flowers first (touches of galbanum, ylang-ylang, and jasmine). It stays kind of springy and floral for a while before drying down to a rich vanilla. Wished the green floral phase stuck around longer into the dry down because the galbanum and flower accents give a fresh lift to the creamy vanilla. Good longevity with moderate projection - a very cozy scent. Edit: Comparing Guerlain’s Angelique Noire side by side - there are similarity for sure! But the Guerlain is more gourmand, with a green pear & vanilla creme brûlée/custard thing happening that’s very vivid and delicious, also also quite sweet on me while it lasts (sadly Anglelique Noire doesn’t stick around for more than a couple hours); Vanille Riviera on the other hand is a green floral (emphasis on the floral) vanilla, the vanilla here reads much less sweet, and with better longevity on my skin.

Sampling from a Luckyscent vial, and immediately it reminds me of Vanille de Tahiti by Perris Monte Carlo, a perfume I adore and wear often. So it’s no surprise that I love this beautiful green vanilla too. I will need to sample from a spray next, but if you are a green fan, and love a good quality vanilla, this should be on your radar. Edit: I now own it, I ended up buying this perfume direct from Maison Rebatchi. Decided to wear it today and I’m picking up the florals. This is a pretty jasmine and Ylang Ylang scent with green vanilla. It’s fresh, bright and super easy to wear. I also now think it’s quite different that Vanille de Tahiti, which has a buttery champaca note (smells like banana for some) makes it a more unusual, niche type perfume. Vanille Riviera is very nice, almost a love. I look forward to wearing it, EDIT: one last thing, beautiful packaging. Love the bottle!

At first, I didn’t quite enjoy the scent/ thought it was pretty lightweight compared to the other vanilla perfumes I’ve tried on. But gosh, the first day I actually wore it, it projected beautifully. At first, ( at least on my skin) the jasmine might feel a bit overpowering, and you might get upset at the softness of the vanilla. But it dries down to this insanely beautiful scent that makes you want to eat yourself up. A not heavy, yet apparent vanilla, ylang ylang — absolute bomb of femininity, softness and yumminess. Holds well on the skin. Gals, definitely try it!

This is a warm, comforting floral with a vanilla and cedar drydown. Nothing sneaky in here. The ylang ylang and jasmine make themselves known immediately. I find that over 2 sprays is too much - I just need a little. This is NOT a goumand vanilla for the masses. You have to like the big white floral experience to like this. It suits me perfectly.

I love everything about this green vanilla scent. Sometimes I spray this on when I'm at home just because it's so comforting to me. I catch wiffs throughout the day and it brings me joy. This is not a gourmand vanilla. It's good for layering and on its own. It's not for everyone.

Everybody should own a bottle of this. It’s simply that good!!! Imagine being in a tropical pool and hunky men wearing only a garland of white flowers and they are fanning you with palm leaves dipped in vanilla.

This is how I imagined DVN Vanilla Camouflage should smell like. If you want creamy green vanilla with powdery floral dry down - just get this. You're welcome.

Interesting super green vanilla, exactly like Angélique Noire with a touch of galbanum. Very sweet. Unwearable for me but very nicely done.

A floral vanilla, perfect for spring with vanilla and jasmine.

Vanille Riviera is a pretty simple and straightforward Jasmine scent, where Vanilla and Ylang Ylang make it creamy and tropical, but not too sweet. Right after spraying, the bitter green aroma from Galbanum gives an edge, but it disappears quickly and the greenness doesn't last longer than 10 minutes. After this, the scent feels very familiar and there are many similar creamy, tropical Jasmine and/or Tuberose scents on the market. The style is impersonal and without a special character so I haven't even listed all the ones I've tried. I'm very selective about which creamy white florals I like enough and even though there's nothing wrong with this scent, it wouldn't end up in my collection. A creamy white floral scent has to have something special for me to like it and here are a few examples: Ecstatic (complexity), Love Tuberose (whipped cream), Queen of Silk (Passion Fruit, complexity), Amethyst Soul (Passion Fruit, Amber base). So this is not similar to any of the mentioned perfumes. However, if you really like the Jasmine-Ylang-Ylang-Vanilla blend and don't need anything special, just good quality, then you will definitely like this. The scent is rich, intoxicating, lasts and projects well. I think it's an easy wear for true rich, tropical, creamy white floral lovers. There's nothing that would irritate me or that would be clearly bad. It's just so ordinary. I also assumed the scent would be more vanilla-like, of course, because of the name. I was expecting a rich vanilla scent with a delicate Jasmine and tropical Ylang Ylang aroma, but instead the scent is a balanced blend of all three ingredients. To me this smells like Halloween candy. When you dump your harvest out onto the floor to sort them, the mix of chocolates and smarties and candy corn. I don’t love it, but if it were meant to smell that way and that’s what they called it, I would appreciate it a lot more. It’s sold as a vacation vanilla, and that’s not what I’m getting from it.

I got DUA's Vanilla Riviera Escape, and I haven't tried this, but DUA's is not on the database yet. Well it's PHENOMENAL. Vanilla Riviera Escape is 100 times better than DUA's Dark Angelica aka Angelique Noir - well it's in the same league, but a different scent and way better. Vanilla Riviera Escape deserves all the stars of the night sky. I love green sweet scents and also the herbal or foresty and grassy green scents that have sweetness. It is not screechy. It has a balsamic vanilla with the custardy creamy solar honey sweetness of the ylang ylang and the ethereal jasmine. This floral combo produces a gardenia-like creamy scent in this perfume, which is indolic yet not heady. The ylang ylang is adding a lighter orange-blossom type of solar salty nuance, with a sweet banana-like effect that I only find in the ylang ylang note of DUA (as in Aoud Intense Sunlight - how nice compared to the stinky ylang ylang note of other companies - see Tropidelic). Vanilla Riviera Escape is not too aquatic, even tho it gives me a breezy beachy sensation, but it stays grassy green and earthy-wet from the galbanum-bergamot pairing. The galbanum gives an intensely green natural dewy scent slightly grassy throughout, more intensely grassy in the opening, and it's slightly earthy like wet grass after a summer rain, so gorgeous. This beautiful galbanum scent paired with the creamy balsamic vanilla and the indolic floral notes it's just heavenly. It truly transports me to my village in Greece by the sea and the house in front of the beach that I spent my childhood where our garden produced this exact scent as it blended with the saltiness of the Ionian sea, because it's so fresh, dewy green and yet sweet indolic floral. With Dark Angelica I had to wait for a creamy effect in the later drydown, and something about the angelica and the other notes was jarring maybe because angelica is more bitter and grassy-spicy than galbanum and since Dark Angelica lacks the indolic gardenia-like creamy aspect. This is dreamy. It becomes centered more around its indolic floral part in the later drydown, yet still retains the green aspect, more subtly though. Same league as DUA's Sea Water Tiare due to the creamy indolic ylang ylang in both, giving a gardenia impression in both, more intense in Sea Water Tiare. If you love sweet indolic vanilla-floral scents and green natural-smelling notes, you need to try DUA's impression if you don't wanna invest in this OG.

This does not last on skin at all. It starts off oily so I assumed it would be strong and last, it has that infamous “banana/heliotrope/ dolls head smell” that is familiar with many older perfumes from the 90s and even before. It’s a beautiful light ylang yllang vanilla, but very similar to so many others on the market, mainly reminds me of Giselle by Carla Fracci, but not nearly as good or complex. It’s also not nearly as magical as l’instant. Nothing new or exciting.

the opening of this is GREEN GREEN GREEN to the point of being nearly unpleasant, but that goes away pretty quickly on the dry down and it fades to a fairly nice jasmine. I honestly don’t get much vanilla in this at all but the floral is nice enough after that insane opening.

A typical rich older woman in a navy pantsuit with the pearl earrings/necklace combo along with the red lipstick and blue eyeshadow. She clutches her purse if you get too close. I’d go as far as to say this is generic. If you told me they sold this at Macy’s I’d believe it.

Beautiful creamy sunny warm florals Ylang Frangipani & Vanilla, a decadent creamy scent, almost identical to Lys 41 & better price too. Gorgeous summery scent.

This is very pretty. It’s kind of like Carnal flower but with vanilla. Green, floral, and a touch of gourmand. Very nice. Perfect for spring. 8.8/10
