Cacao Libertine

Oh, I love a dense, spicy treat, like this scent. A blast of chocolate & orange, giving way quickly to a warm patchouli-cocoa with a floral vanilla to smooth it out. Rich thick, spicy and delicious, it does remind me a lot of Mugler's Muse in the drydown. Not exact, more reminiscent of Muse. Also, the longer it's on, the rose makes a stunning appearance. I layered this with Kerosene's Winter of '99, that slightly smoky burnt marshmallow yumminess and it was magical. Would also be great sprayed over a good rose body butter, to bring an extra floral boost. This one is a definite winner for me. Not a perfume for the faint of heart. Definitely a fall to winter scent. It's also very unisex.

Okay. I can get behind this cacao. It's a sweet Cacao/vanilla, spiced up with Cardamom. Warm, enveloping scent. Ever so slightly animalic from the tuberose, patchouli in the base. A lot is going on here actually and I like it. Resemblance to Noir de Noir is somewhat accurate- you take out some rose from Noir, add more orange peel, honey-sweeten it more and they would be cousins.

This such a sexy cacao-tchouli perfume! Dark and misterious and also very potent! Love!

Sampling Maison Tahite Cacao Libertine, a blend involving cacao, patchouli, and florals, primarily, a sort of sweet floral blend with a bit of a resinous twist. The rose and patchouli are particularly noticeable, with a decent blend of cacao, vanilla, caramel, and benzoin. So it’s sweet, for sure, but not a gourmand, and not fully floral either, but somewhere in between. It has a little more intrigue and complexity than Cacao2, particularly being more of a nod to those who would enjoy the rose and patchouli, and I like that it branches out a little bit more than something simply focused on cacao. Most fragrances in the house are named for cacao, coffee, or vanilla, so it’s nice to see when there is some divergence from those main notes, as it could otherwise get a bit redundant. The coffee quartet demonstrated as much. Cacao Libertine is priced at $120 for 100ml at EDP concentration (sold at Luckyscent), like most of the line, very reasonable in today’s market, and it performs well. 7 out of 10

Even from the beginning it's mostly patchouli and chocolate. Think Angel but with more cocoa/dark chocolate. It's got a touch of citrus to brighten it, yes some spice from cardamom and the rose to sweeten too. If I didn't read the notes it could all be from variations on patchouli and cocoa. Good sillage for about 2 hours. It becomes a skin scent for another 3, just sweet patchouli and no chocolate.

Fizzy citrus top bubbling from a warm concoction of patchouli and chocolate. Spicy-sweet patchouli with green cardamom amping it up, mixed in gooey caramel and dusted with cocoa powder. I don't smell the florals in here at all, it's just a sugary sweet patchouli-caramel to me. Like a sweeter Unique'e Crush on Me. Moderately strong projection for 2-3hr, longevity 7-9hr.

If you like Angel Muse, and desire something more sophisticated, this might be your ticket. Cacao Libertine Opens with a sweet, syrupy gourmand chocolate note with citrus and a stronger Tuberose note than the rose. Patchouli smooths it all out. Agree with OTA Mom, this is the best of the latest cacao releases, although I don’t find it terribly unique.

Sweet spiced rum and slightly dusty cacao. Very boozy and rich, with an undercurrent of subtle white florals. In the drydown it smells like a lighter version of Mugler's Angel. Smell: 8 out of 10 Longevity: 7 out of 10 Leans a bit more feminine For reference, I'm female.

Fruity rose. Theres only a touch of chocolate in the beginning, and after that nothing but rose. This one smells great, but it is 100% feminine. I scrubbed it off of my hand after the drydown, so I cannot vouch for sillage or longevity.

At the opening, there is a strong smell of chocolate, cocoa, rum, piquant spices and a lot of honey. There are also flowers detectable at the distance. (The opening is similar to Kilian Angel's share or Kilian Black phantom) Later the smell becomes milder and rounded and very well blended. There is still some boozy cocoa, vanilla and white flowers. It lasts long, the projection is modest. Pretty, unusual fragrance. However, this is not my favourite Cacao from Maison Tahité, but you need to try it for yourself.

I don't understand the notes pyramid; I actually get cocoa and patchouli in the opening, and I must say, it smells really nice. The base is disappointing; it smells sweet and floral. I don't think it's a bad scent, au contraire, it's very pleasant, but I only like the opening. PS: apart from the shared note of cocoa, it has nothing to do to Melt My Heart. NOTHING.

A lot is happening in this fragrance. I smell a bit of Coca-Cola, a lot of booze, some nutty caramel notes, and probably not much cacao! These types of fragrances are not my cup of tea, but I appreciate that such a dense mix doesn't come out as overdone.

its aight. smells like JPG Le Male Le Parfum with a cocoa note. just ok. not the best blended so wont perform well in heat. no wow factor here.

I dont think this scent is blended well. To me it is very screechy. Not at all enjoyable

Very interesting fragrance! The more I smell it, the more it’s growing on me. At initial spray, I get a huge blast of patchouli. Five seconds later, a gorgeous rich decadent chocolate note comes in (think dark velvety chocolate, yet still quite sweet smelling!). However, the patchouli still remains throughout. The more I sniffed it, the more it felt familiar and upon looking at the smell-a likes, I now understand why! This perfume smells very similar to Tom Ford Noir de Noir, Kayali Oudgasm Cafe Oud, Atelier Cafe Tuberosa, Florian Street Ylang Ylang Expresso, and Armaf Club de Nuit Woman Intense — it shares that same patchouli rose dna. So in case you’re curious about how this smells, it smells like the perfumes mentioned above PLUS an added prominent chocolate note. Patchouli and rose lovers might wanna stay away!

It's not really the best blend ever, but it's a decent scent of spiced liqeour mixed with dry cocoa powder on a damp, woody old table. To be precise, it strongly reminds me of spiced rum, very sharp and alcoholic, with cocoa powder sitting somewhere in the background. Like the basement of an old spice trading ship. Dry, woody, spicy and earthy. Sharp and neither too pleasant nor unpleasant. Feels like I'm sticking a dry cinnamon stick up my nose. Not bad, but more of a smell of a place than a person. The drydown is quite nice. It layers well with Althair aswell.

To my nose this is a very boozy scent. It doesn't mention Rhum but I get a lot of it, adorning the sweet chocolate/patchouli combo. Vanilla and cardamom notes are very soft. I almost don't get the floral notes. It projects well for 1-2 hours max, then it's just a skin scent. I like it, but would love for it to be stronger and with better longevity. Not sure I want a full bottle, although it's very pretty.

The performance on this one is basically a joke and that was after 10 sprays .There is no reason to describe the scent . If things change after some maceration ,I will come back and change the review .
