CYCLE 001

I have just received my sample and have been wearing it for only fifteen minutes. I've given it an enormous sillage as my daughter walked in and said immediately 'what is that GORGEOUS smell?!' and I was on the other side of the room. The first thing that struck me was that I've not got anything like this. I've never smelled this before as a perfume, but I've certainly smelled it before - it's a new shop! It's a salesroom that's just been cleaned. My daughter said it's 'shoe shopping for going back to school, sitting amongst hundreds of pairs as you try them all on, with hoards of other kids' It's heavy on the Ambroxan. I smell the sea. I'll add more in a few hours after dry down... Nearly 12 hours on and it's still working hard but has changed. The scent drifts in and out throughout the day, sometimes barely there, then returning with an arm long blast. I've now found myself on holiday in the Dordogne, visiting the little perfume shops in ancient streets that are filled with aroma. I'm by the pool in our gite on an evening, as the nearby scent of a powdery flower is nearby - but the aqua of the pool is stronger. I'm really in love with this. My daughter tried at the same time, and she too adores it. Sniffalicious!

This scent is SO nostalgic for me!! If you were around in the mid to late eighties, maybe you were a kid and it would remind you of your "cool" babysitter with the blonde feathered hair and frosted lipstick that never looked that good on yourself... Maybe you were a bit older and it was your friend who wore a row of tiny stud earrings and went to the 18+ new wave dance clubs... Going on, it smells more like pine and graphite pencil shavings than anything else. But once dry, this smells exactly like a combination of that 80's contemporary drugstore perfume "Love's Baby Soft", Aquanet hairspray, and the barest hint of Marlboro light cigarettes on your clothes that you had just come in from the cold to go smoke and attempted to cover up with some doublemint gum that lost most of its flavor long ago. But everyone knows where you were and they don't really care. It's light, clean, and breezy, but a bit grownup- like you're a good girl hanging out with a more risque crowd but still have your head on your shoulders and aren't going to allow your future to get fd up. Things are still fun and easy, the whole world is ahead of you. I love this scent so so much!

I just sold most of my collection after realizing I only need a few. Of my keepers, this is at the top of my list. It is something I wear every day and it just seems to create an aura that changes with the weather. It’s earthy, slightly green, and musky. It’s as if I were to take a couple drops of Helmut Lang EDP, French Lover and Another 13 and mix it with some magic - this would be it. This is not loud and is more of a personal/intimate experience and I look forward to wearing it daily. Just stellar.

It smells like wet concrete combined with the air right after rainfall. Airy, green, extremely light smell of foliage, more damp woods, light clean laundry smell. Very nature like and a great skin scent. Worth the price I'd say if you don't like heavy 'perfume-like' smells. It smells like nature. Longevity is great. This is an extrait de parfum.

Very very easy to wear musky+Powdery Scent. i love the greenish rooty Angelica root that make this fragrance quiet unique. I want it a little more last on my skin. but for this price think it's Ok to be over sprays.

Our family is impressed! This is fantastic perfume, stays on skin like airy veil made of iris, musk, angelica, distant flowers, freshly ironed cotton shirt and is 100% unisex. Great creation!

CYCLE-001 smells fantastic, definitely exceeds my expectations. The first ambroxan heavy fragrance that I truly enjoy. I agree with salthewitch, it does smell like all the new things! It smells like new car to me, cleaned leather interiors, hints of gasoline, soft fuzzy floormats that aren't dented yet with dirty footprints. It smells sparkling clean in a non-traditional way, no citrus - smells not just clean, but NEW. It really shouldn't be a surprise that I love this, as it contains angelica! I love this note. A floral that is kind of like licorice in its character, green, powdery, with a unique twist that I can't describe - but licorice, anise, and angelica share. This is an extrait de parfum, so although it is a "soft, musky perfume", it has good projection and lasting power. It doesn't scream in others' faces, but I can smell it return to me throughout the day. It will fade out of my smelling capabilities soon after I spray it sometimes, but will return an hour or two later, to remind me that it's still lingering. Well done, Maison Violet! The only "new-age molecule" fragrance I am happy to wear :)

This is such a pretty and iris-forward skin scent! It is really similar to Diptyque's Fleur de Peau and Glossier's You, but is a little bit more complex and earthy in smell than You and less vegetal and animalic than Fleur de Peau. This perfume also has a quality to it that reminds me of old lipstick scents, it's like a vintage lipstick smeared on warm and musky skin. The longevity of this perfume is so long because of the heavy amount of ambroxan in this, I smell it on me for hours and it actually becomes overwhelming at a certain point which is why I would personally choose something more understated like You over this one. Still probably my favorite offering from Maison Violet and I'm interested to see their future cycle releases as well!

This smells exactly how I expected. It is a musky violet-iris with lots of little nuance. The powdery floral is there but it's translucent, softening all the other notes. A green angelica comes through in one moment, then a floral peppercorn, not as sharp as I remember. There's a beautiful smoky vetiver in this, somehow very subtle. It's a very intimate, featherweight scent that leans more icy than lipsticky.

The notes are impossible to describe, so let me paint a picture: Swiss valley surrounded by mountains. Cool wind. You're standing in an open grassy field, late summer. Some herbs are blooming, others are already starting to dry out. A bale of hay nearby. A light waft of fireplace smoke from a small cabin behind you. There's a line of fresh laundry drying in the sun. Extremely unique 8/10

After wearing it all day, I can say this has a somewhat similar vibe to Arquiste Peau. Cycle 001 is a cold-blooded lizard, while Peau is a warm-blooded furry beast.

Very soft, for musk lovers. 100% unisex, soapy scent. It is a linear fragrance. Easy to wear and for all the seasons. 7/10 (due to the weak sillage).

I love it! Smells like petrichor, wet concrete and angelica root. Makes me exhale and relax every time I spray it

This smells like a bechamel sauce with a heap of nutmeg over a cedar-y ambroxan base. Nutmeg isn't listed so maybe it's the pepper. It straight up smells like fettuccine alfredo. I want to love it, I've tried so many times, but I just can't. And yet I can't stop sniffing it.

This smells quite similar to Parisian Musc by Matiere Premiere. Musk, iris and heliotrope are predominant here, not a bad scent. I also got an earthiness from the angelica in the dry down. In my opinion its more a unisex/female fragrance.

I absolutely love and support the brand concept based on sustainability and reusable bottle. However, I am a quite disappointed in the fragrance in terms of body, especially as there should be lots of notes according to the olfactive pyramid. I did not smell that complexity and instead I had a linear transparent musky woody evolution. I think it can be long lasting however, in my opinion it lacks of contrast . Also I did not smell the peppery top notes at all. This is frustrating because other consumers rated this fragrance positively and I wish I could share the same enthousiasm because I had my hopes up. The first time I smelled the sample, I thought there was an issue as it was so weak. I asked a second sample and unfortunately this was not a mistake, the perfume was designed this way.

I love iris, and I generally like musk and animalic notes, but this perfume smells like someone else's body to me in a bad way. It's not terribly strong, but it reminds me of encountering smells on thrift store clothing that won't wash it out. While unique and contemporary, it's not *me* at all. On my body, I actually find it very unsettling, because it feels so "other." The fragrance itself is a bit powdery and leans more feminine than masculine IMO. Despite the difference in notes and sillage, Mugler's "Alien" gave me the same uncanny feeling: like I'm wearing someone else's sweat.

001 cycle is a dry dusty green musk that is overloaded w/ ambroxan. Headache inducing and makes my nose hurt while smelling it. It is like smelling ground up grass and hay dust while wearing cheap aftershave musk. Horrid!

First impression: unbalanced celery ambroxan and musks. Off putting. Over time: clean airport/airplane. Like spending a rainy night camping in a green environment by the stream, then you wake up in the morning with the sun coming out, step outside, that’s what the opening smells like. Environmentalist hotel lobby Over time the wet green earthy goes more toward the orris which is dusty, woody and rooty, rather than powdery or lipstick or carrot. It creates the feel of a modern showroom with white wood aesthetic. It’s decorated with a stream flowing through the middle of the room. Someone thought it would be funny to fill the stream with chopped vegetables (initially celery but over time much more mild sweeter vegetables). I have occasionally experienced it turning into something gross, ambroxan celery, bad musk combo. Idk what causes this, but most of the time it’s great. Not really a scent that makes your eyes roll into the back of your head, but more impressive for capturing the smell of the future minimalism where nature is melting technology.

Cycle 001 follows the minimalist, green and circular trend. This limited edition (only 1000 bottles) is refillable, only by those had had the original botte. ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠ This fragrance, with it's prominent musk, iris and ambroxan is enhanced by Angelica, which gives it a green hint. ⁠⁠There is something vegetal, too. ⁠⁠ I reminds me of the Molecule series, and Not a Perfume by JHAG. ⁠It has the 'your skin but better vibe' and radiates wide but intermittent. You can't smell it on yourself the entire time, but others can and perceive a fresh, non-perfumy sensation. It is one of the better, more original 'molecular' scents I've sampled though. So if you're in the market for a molecular minimalist scent this is definitely one to check out! ⁠⁠ ⁠⁠
