Musc Angélique

This is a "not a perfume" type of scent, that being said, it has enough personality for this kind of scent profile. It is rooty, anisic and also slightly animalic at the beginning. It is fluffy and transparent, could be worn in warm weather as well as cool weather. I am slowly falling in love with it.

I like this as an Iris lover in all its forms. Dusty Iris, musky, dry, a bit peppery. Hard to describe in words but I love wearing this stuff, smells like nothing I’ve smelt before.

Essentially this is Cycle 001, rebranded into their permanent collection. However, I get 30min to an hour, then its gone.

Pepper off the rip that immediately transforms into fresh lumber like you just bought it from Lowe’s or Home Depot then you placed it in a cathedral (I guess I’m in the rafters). It commands veneration in a beautiful unisex way. Not blind buy safe but oh so unique!

Too similar to fleur de peau, although I think this is way better. The only problem is I can't really smell most of the time. It does go in and out so I think I am noseblind to a certain musk in here. Good that I only got a travel spray.

This is a mix of Juliette Has a Gun's Not a Perfume and based on reviews I've seen on Santal 33 dupes (which kind of smell like figs to me), Santal 33 by Le Labo. It's so close to being perfect, but I find the pepper smell to be overwhelming

The official website says this bottle is the former to Cycle 001, and the note pyramid seems to reflect that. But I’m confused about what “limited” meant at the time—back then, even refill bottles were restricted to those who had already purchased the same scent. Now it’s part of the regular line? Does this mean Cycle 002 might also become part of the permanent collection in the future? The bottle design has also changed to match the Cycle series sub-line, which makes their strategy even more unclear. It also kind of takes away the sense of exclusivity and collectibility for those who owned the original release.

On first spray, I did not like this AT ALL, as it has a weird bite in the opening. But as it mellows on the skin, I do like the dry down, but I would say it leans more masculine than unisex. That is just my opinion, of course. :) It's a nice, peppery, sort of leathery musk. It's actually really comforting once it dries down and makes me a bit nostalgic. I feel like an ex-boyfriend wore something similar WAY back in the day. I give it a 7.5/10.

What’s crazy to me is how I love this fragrance and actually lucked up as a collector in buying it under the name “cycle 001”. What’s crazier is how you could get this fragrance in the 100ml for $75 less and the 200ml refill for less than the bottle. Smh lazy
