Pour Rêver

Blown away - this is bewitching... In essence, a nuanced and unusual blend of powdery nutty woody spiced notes that gently, but definately enchants. Don't be put off by main accords - it's not that sweet. The dryness of the mate, wood and nuttiness cuts through. In fact when heading towards drydown it's almost savoury. Detecting hazelnuts, dry cocoa, iris, gaiac, incense, rum + vanilla It's familiar, yet with an intriguing edge that keeps you coming back for more. Perhaps the subtler cousin to Iris Cartagena and the more sophisticated sister of By the Fireplace.... Lasts better on clothes than skin (3 hrs skin, 12 +hrs clothes), but somehow you forgive its transient nature - because it works so well with the dreaming concept + the fragrance itself! Fair sillage - tends to be more skin but will also swirl up in wafts. An ethereal woody gourmand blended by the hands of a master perfumer who knows exactly what she is doing. FB worthy - absolutely!

Pour Rêver Maison Violet Pour Rêver is cozy, warm, and a pleasure to sit & cypher its notes on your wrist while leisurely sipping a mug of steamy hot Chai. Barely any sweetness detectable amongst its rich notes. Pour Rever is a gourmand atmosphere, sheer notes of delicacies, they don't entice you to nibble, but to gently inhale their aroma and enjoy the content of their masterfully blended beauty. A delicate teint of Iris amongst gentle spices, incense, soft tea, bourbon vanilla and cocoa powder reminds you why Maison Violet is named thusly. Absolutely lovely!

Lovely gourmand elements accompanied by a high quality incense and vanilla. This is a perfume, not dessert, which I love. I was trying to think of what this reminded me of, and then I realized it was Fève Gourmande by Guerlain. They both have cacao, rum, patchouli, and incense...this one has iris and the Guerlain has rose. They're not dupes but close enough that I only need one (FG, which I already own).

SUCH an interesting fragrance boozy, dusty, cold-spicy, a bit sweet with some gourmand facets but it's not a sweet perfume... I get the cocoa powder with hazelnuts, rum, incense, matte and patchouli.... it's a great, great winter or fall frag, I have smelled nothing like this also perfectly unisex in my opinion I am very impressed by this house, its creations are very refined and with character

At first you might think that it’s a prominently Cacau based perfume. The sweet chocolate/Hazelnut are at the Heart of it but it’s not a sweet sweet fragrance per se. The Iris smells more like Orris Butter and the combo with myrrh gives it a cinnamon touch. However, This is a Oud & Bakhoor Fragrance. And that’s what it sets into. Mid longevity But still so pretty 8.5/10 Fall/winter

Update: Over time, I've really come to appreciate the smoky, wood notes in this complex yet deeply comforting scent ....like the scent of vanilla pods thrown on a real wood fire..... Magical stuff. People compliment the ' buttery nutty vanilla' trail it creates.... Part way through my full bottle and it still makes me happy every time I wear it! Gorgeously addictive 🤎

So, I like this fragrance but I do not think it's a love for me. And I'm very disappointed. I've been waiting on this fragrance forever and almost purchased Armani "Stronger With You" in lieu of this perfume. I love the fragrance's opening; however, I wish the opening remained around much longer. To me, the first few opening minutes are amazing, as "Pour Rever" opens with EXTREMELY dusty, dry, strong chestnut glaze notes that are lifted off the skin with the perfect amount of adelhydes. Hazelnut is also evident in the opening. With this, the opening is EXTREMELY dusty, parched and dry, perhaps ALSO because of the presence of mate. The chestnut and hazelnut notes definitely contribute to the fragrance's extreme dryness, as does the emergence of iris. However, nuttiness is clearly discernible in the opening notes. Not much development from what I can tell. The middle and dry-down are fairly linear with continued nuttiness, additional powderiness (from the iris, for sure) and LOTS of smoky-woodiness. I imagine the emergence of gaiac, myrrh and incense create the fragrance's woody dry-down. Not sure why but I really hoped this fragrance would be much sweeter (marron glace), more gourmand and much more feminine than it is. Disappointingly, this fragrance offers zero sweetness and leans quite masculine. I get that "chestnut" is oftentimes utilized in masculine leaning fragrances. But I'm disappointed nonetheless. Wears very close to the skin. Duration and longevity are poor. At its price point, a full bottle is a pass.

Creating a truly great milky, cake-y, praline, or chestnut scent seems to be the bane for many brands and perfumers. Often, these attempts fall into one of several traps: an overwhelming blast of patchouli (as in Patchouli Noisette by Les Indemodables), a metallic, edgy musk (like Jeux de Peau by Serge Lutens), an avalanche of amberwoods (Guidance by Amouage), a cloyingly sweet fruity bomb (Panettone by Milano Fragranze), or a non-descript powdery heliotrope/vanilla blend.. Pour Rêver...strikes an interesting balance between all those. It opens with a brief chestnut note that quickly turns into something amberwoody/botanical/earthy, and slightly metallic. There’s warmth around the edges tho, lot's of powderiness, and a faintly fruity quality, almost like a cherry liqueur note mixed with a savory, soapy hand cream vibe. At times, it even has hints of tuberose, coconut, or bubblegum. Despite all that, the fragrance maintains a uniform, minimalist feel, characteristic of Maison Violet’s style. My initial impression is that Pour Rêver is well-made and designed to be universally pleasant. However, about an hour after spraying, it gave me a mild headache, which is unfortunate. It also reminded me a bit of Shalimar Millesime Iris, especially in the deep drydown.

Pour Rêver is a dreamy veil, like a soft cloud of comforting sweetness. It opens with glaced chestnuts, then moves on to a warm and fluffy iris, vanilla and incense combo, with nuts and spices. It is very well balanced, nothing stands out too much. The opening is more sweet gourmand, then it settles and drifts. It's so warm and cosy, perfect for chilly winter days, while not being too strong either. Absolutely love how it creates a cocoon of a light scent. Edit: Months later, it went from a love to a like since it started to feel too sweet for me. It is also has christmas vibes which limits when it feels suitable to wear.

Went to a lovely niche perfume shop to smell this. I am in the search for a winter hazelnut, sweet, lactonic but mature scent to make my signature. I was fairly excited since I read other reviews for their perfumes and they had a good wear. I won't lie and say it doesn't smell delicious, it does, but it smells exactly like Amour de Cacao by Comptoir Sud-Pacifique, which is an EDT, and cheaper too. I cannot speak on the projection since I did not try it on my skin, but for what I heard it is less promising than expected. Will try to get a sample tho.

Definitely a scent that had to grow on me. I found the mate to be overpowering at first, completely clouding the gourmand sweetness I was after. On my third wear something shifted and I’m in love!! Sweet but not cloying and quite complex. Still quite ”dry” and dusty in a way but that’s part of what makes it unique. Been told I smell ”christmassy” so absolutely a winter scent.

A well-blended gourmand vanilla. The cocoa, iris and bourbon vanilla combo I’m becoming so familiar with. They are generally great fall and winter fragrances. Cozy!

I'm grateful for the chance to experience it. However, I found myself ultimately disappointed by how safe it plays, particularly from a niche house where bolder creative risks are expected. The marron glacé note is the undeniable highlight, there's a genuine warmth and authenticity to the candied chestnut that immediately draws you in. It's lovely, and it deserved better. Unfortunately, the rest of the composition doesn't rise to meet it. It's airy to the point of being structureless. It settles comfortably into the crowded space of cozy gourmands that are ubiquitous right now, offering little to distinguish itself creatively.

Really wanted to like this, but unfortunately it smells like getting a whiff of a delicious craft cola while standing next to a pile of rotting wood that’s been set on fire, at least on my skin. Without the stinky pungent note it would be a very nice, soft, and wearable gourmand, but didn’t work for me unfortunately.

Dusty, woody, musky, subtly sweet, a bit rotten. Reminds me of an old person's closet. Has one of those weird cocoa notes that I smell as powdery licorice, similar to Borntostandout Mud, Il Profumo Chocolat, and Atelier des Ors Cocoa Kimiya. If you like any of those, you might like this. I did not.

Pour Rever's opening is boozy and fruity almost like rum and cherry. Then the cacao note comes through very realistically. If you want to smell like a boozy nutty chocolate bar, you must try it. Unfortunately that is not my vibe. I will say it has been well made for what it is though.

It smells exactly like those cheap Santa claus or Easter bunny form chocolates . Not a fan.

i used to scrape the varnish off church benches when i was bored, and this kind of smells like the resin that would end up caked on my fingertips by the end of hour-long service. like decades of kids wiping chrism off their foreheads and onto the wood, incense cleansings during liturgical processions, and layers of dust from periods of inactivity during slow seasons and whatever’s fallen from between the pages of old hymnals. the wax itself would smell so richly sweet in a smooth, almost chocolatey way. to me, pour rever is a romanticized version of that experience in a world where everything is edible. edible church pew.

I’m surprised that no one mentions how prominent the Iris is here. To me this is a nutty Iris gourmand. I’m really enjoying this fragrance. I’ve been searching for something like this for awhile. It’s been quite hard to find an Iris scent that is blended with gourmand notes that either doesn’t get overwhelmed and disappear or is mostly carroty and dry. I find this similar to Bois D’Iris just sweeter and more edible with better lasting power. That fragrance is gorgeous, it just disappears within an hour.

This scent was everything that I wanted Bon Parfumeur's recent release, Iris Cartagena, to be. There is a nutty warmth thanks to the hazelnut and glazed almonds with cocoa, but the woodiness of the iris with the myrrh peeks out from underneath. The incense-vanilla combination reminds me a bit of Encens Suave by Matiere Premiere. Edit: Another very similar perfume is Experimental Perfume Club’s Tonka Extraordinaire, which has nutty and milky accords.

It reminds me of Vanilla Diorama by Christian Dior, but this one is creamier and full of nutty warmth. Super romantic, perfect for winter and spring - especially when you are in a mood for a warm hug. Comforting and beautifully tender. It has a good longevity, but it is rather intimate and stays close to the skin.

I was expecting a cozy but chic nutty gourmand but Pour Rever smells cheap, thin and woody on my skin, like burnt chestnuts. I would love to smell this wafting off someone else because based on how I’ve seen this described, I’m convinced it must be delectable on other people.

Nice scent. Smells a lot better on skin. There is an initial alcohol blast in the opening (not the highest quality ingredients used) but then that subdues and the cacao and nuts take centre stage. VERY BAD PERFORMANCE. Skin scent only

Linear Frangelico by the fireplace with poor longevity. A pleasant moment nonetheless!
