Stunning opening. I'm so weak for iris and this is such a lovely sweet, feminine, glossy blend. I get tired of iris feeling dry and unisex at times, but the fruity notes and florals in this really bring it out into a sunny/feminine space. Clean, girly, delicate. Definitely sweet, but not in a gourmand way. The sweetness could graze too close to cheap/girly-pop fragrances for some people, but as someone that absolutely leans away from that, it's not too much for me. There was however a day where I wore this and it dried down to the grossest vetiver. I don't know what happened. I was running around the city at the time, so I wonder if it combined with sweat or something, but it was nasty. It hasn't happened since but it feels like a constant threat lmao

Like jazzfan have said, this perfume makes me smile. I blind bought this perfume on a sale + I loved it >>>> childish happiness and best feeling ever! The opening is a soft combination of citrusy, sweet and floral, but mostly fresh citrus. The drydown is the best floral combination, I smell iris and peony more than Jasmin. It is really very, very intimate, but not weak, it does last on my skin 7-8 hours, and throughout this time you feel like you have just showered, not that it is soapy but it is sooo lovely like a hug from flowers. I have "not a perfume" by Juliette has a gun (which I like), because sometimes I just want a perfume that is light and intimate. But now, I like Tanagra more as a personal intimate fragrance.

In incredibly charming, simple and enchanting fruity iris. The sweet, dainty pear 'pairs' well with the iris, along with a few other soft florals, and this scent just WORKS. I only have the 10 ml travel size, which I got from Ginza, Tokyo, and I don't know if I will need any more... The candy sweet musk works excellently along side the iris and florals -- the more I wear this, the more I wish I could wear this more -- I have too much other stuff I am madly in love with. I'm going to try and smuggle in a few more wears of this in the next few months. It lifts my mood and really REALLY adds to the environment. Must report back later!

I must have lucked out for once with my skin chemistry because I don't find this weak at all. When I first got it I sprayed it once on my wrist and it filled the room to the point where my daughter remarked 'now that is a STRONG perfume'. Of course she was referring to silage which is enormous, but it honestly lasts for 6-8 hours on my skin and a little goes a very long way. I have lots of Iris fragrances (it's one of my favourite notes) and I think this is a beautiful and fresh interpretation. It is very contemporary and I really enjoy it.

Beautifully blended Iris, Cedar and soft tangerine on a musky base. It's very restrained and elegant. The freesia, pear and jasmine seem to blend everything together seamlessly so the more prominent notes don't compete against each other. It has a very soft texture that reminds me of MFK's Petit Matin without the dose of orange blossom. Performs lovely on a hot day and my favorite that I've tried from Maison Violet. Gorgeous. I think it would be incredible on a man as much as a woman.

A modern, youthful woody iris. I've gotten about 15 sprays from my sample vile; I have a few sprays left. Others below mention longevity and they are correct, I would say this wears more like an eau de toilette. I don't mind this, however, as the scent is so invigorating and enjoyable. Iris is a preferred note for me and here it lifts just above the earth and is softly supported by a unique, springtime freshness. A lovely fragrance all around

I don't seem to be able to forget this one. I tried it countless times and every time I smell it, it makes me smile. It's just so lovely, sunny and happy. Then the sentiment of the most elegant serenity wraps around me. It's truely remarkable and effortlessly gracious. I like Pourpre d'Automne even more and it feels like it's been on my wishlist forever but Tanagra is something special. Beautiful house, unforgettable perfumes.

I like this. Tried from the sample box from Maison Violet. Unfortunately it just *disappears* on me. It stays on clothing a bit longer. ... The price tag has me hesitating. It's a lot for the full bottle...

Never have I fallen in love with a sample until now. Ethereal sweet fruity floral but not overwhelming. I got so many compliments from this.

Man I really disliked the opening notes. But after 10 mins dayum. I'm hooked af. This is easily on of the best of the house imo.

Tanagra is the name given to ancient statues made of terracotta and created by the Greeks to reproduce the beauty of women and children. The perfume was originally created in 1922. Its bottle had a small statuette as a lid and was decorated with a Greek strip. It was designed by Lucien Gaillard, just as happened with Pourpre d'Automne. The new version was released on November 25, 2018, and featured, once again, the talent of perfumer Nathalie Lorson (who also signs the legacy range of three fragrances). Its composition lists notes of mandarin, pear, and freesia, opening the way for a floral body of jasmine, rose, iris and peony, on a base of vetiver, cedar and musk cashmere. Tanagra is a tribute to the beauty and, above all, to femininity. It respects the traditions of Maison Violet and, due to its launching, 20% of the income obtained from sales is passed on to the association Solidarité Femmes, since the date is considered the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The concept of a soft fragrance, which translates the sensation of a second skin, was worked by the perfumer through the powdery nuances of iris, the sophistication of the cashmere and the beauty of the rose. When touches the skin, Tanagra does not seem to respect the order of the composition and the iris presents itself with all its peculiar power, with its dry tones that often resemble the smell of makeup. Only then, a faint pear aroma appears, at the same time as the powdery output diminishes. And here comes the mandarin, bringing citrus juiciness and pulling the slightly sweetened hints of jasmine to the center of the stage. We have, here, a floral-fruity. The evolution continues smooth and subtle until the earthy side of the vetiver begins to become more present and shows us another facet of Tanagra, full of flowers and woods. I can smell the peony, and it looks like a flower-carrying crate has taken rain and the wood is still wet. Then, we now have a floral-woody. Tanagra is, above all, full of tenderness. It is a refined and intimate fragrance, which reveals to me a force disguised as fragility. It is perfect for anyone who likes to experience iris fragrances and although it pays homage to women, it can be worn by men without major problems. The durability is very good and the fragrance is quite balanced, which results in a certain versatility, although I have enjoyed wearing it on rainy and cooler days. As they say in Maison Violet: "If beauty exists only in diversity, its fragrance can take pride in being unique."

Beautiful Iris that has performance issues, becoming a skin scent in less than 60 minutes. Next time I will spray my manufacturers sample more liberally. While Tanagra is alive on my skin, it is a divine, ethereal Iris cloud. I only pick up the fruit notes during the first 10 minutes; dry down is wood, musk and powdery florals. This is the kind of scent that the younger version of myself would’ve dismissed, but I appreciate scents that are more quiet and reflective as my fragrance collection has grown. Unfortunately Tanagra dissipates too quickly to justify a purchase, but I will continue to eat up my sample. Maison Violet please fix the longevity issue and you will have a yourself a 10.

Very pleasant and well blended. A subtle floral with just the right amount of soapiness and freshness. A bit sweet but also at the same time a bit dry. Interesting that I can't really detect any of the woods on my skin, while it has turned very woody on others. Also, somehow the fruits appear a bit later on, in spite of being the top note. This scent is great for the office and casual occasions. I think it would by suitable for both spring and summer. As much as I like it, it's a bit too safe and subtle for my taste and it doesn't last long on my skin, so I won't be buying a full bottle, but I'll definitely finish my sample.

Opens fruity and sweet, but very airy and fluffy. It's a bit sweeter than I prefer. Drydown is powdery soft and lovely. Over all it's a nice balance between fruity and floral. Easy, breezy, feminine. A good daytime scent for spring. It hangs in the air like a veil, like being softly surrounded by scent. Doesn't project very strongly, but is long lasting both on my skin and more so on clothes. Office friendly.

Tanagra represents the Maison Violet parfum with the powdery aspect of the fragrance (thanks Iris) with some fruits (pear and tangerine). I smell a lot the iris, less the fruits. Elegant, more for a woman and during fall/spring (in the rainy days) to my opinion. Delicate fragrance... 7/10

Fruity-Floral Musk, but with a final twist. Brings to mind Nuit de Cellophane, but whereas Nuit keeps a sweet tinge and maintains a musk drydown, Tanagra offers a more balanced nuance between fruit and florals. The opening half hour is truly wonderful. After that musk weakens, and vetiver becomes more prominent. To me this is dissonant. Drydown is mostly vetiver. Performance is rather weak.

Shows up very sweet on me. Not sure why. I’ve heard really great things about this fragrance but it’s just not for me. It is very reminiscent of a Paris Hilton or Britney Spears perfume one of my best friends in middle school used to wear back in the 2010. Not sure what one however. Fresh but oddly sweet. 5/10

I like Tanagra, but I like it the least out of all of Maison Violet that I've tried. As an iris fragrance, I feel Nuee Bleue is more unique. The addition of pear here really reminds me of a lot of iris/ambrette perfumes that I have already sampled. Pretty, but also very weak.

Tanagra is a light fleeting tangerine iris w/ a subtle peony. Slightly musky. I expected more from this brand. Their fragrances are very watery and fleeting. Not worth the asking price. Glad I only got a sample kit, but I don't blind buy expensive perfumes.

"Maison Violet" could be as well called "Maison Iris" as there is an iris note in almost every fragrance they launched. Tanagra is pleasant and elegant, but fleeting iris, basically a skin scent.

a sour iris thanks to the mandarin and fruity due to the pear. the magnificent freesia accompany an iris not of lipstick. poor performance. 7/10

A very close to the skin scent : Pear, musk, freesia & iris are the main players, but overall a weak fragrance. Overall ok but not wow.

Tanagra is okay. Kind of boring and not a very strong scent. Not my cup of tea, but I don't hate it.

I've been reviewing the legacy range after falling for Cycle 001, and now, Sketch. However, a full bottle of Tanagra won't be added to my Mason Violet collection. The only opening note I got was strong strong bitter, wet wood. I wondered if this was a unisex scent, so masculine was the first spritz. It smells cold, like a Greek statue. Any frag with iris in the makeup is the kind I often blind buy. I suggest you do NOT blind buy this; it is polarising. My Son liked it. The iris didn't appear on me until its dying breath, which is such a shame, as that last linger was lovely. But I can't wait 9 hours to enjoy how I smell, so it's a pass from me.

Edit: just ordered a full bottle, this has got to be one of the most beautiful florals I've ever smelled. I cannot get enough of this frag. This is SOOOO beautiful... A bright and juicy burst of tangerine at first, then such a perfect blend of all the florals right after. But like many have said, after I'd say about 2 hours, it's almost vanished. I'm almost tempted to get a full bottle anyway and douse myself in it when I wear it. It's truly such a soft fluffy floral but with a tart little squeeze of citrus. Almost leans soapy, but not in an old fashioned way at all. Ok, so kind of bizarre, I wore this to dinner last night, and it did seem to disappear quickly, when I woke up this morning I could still smell it on my arms! Hmmmm 🤔 so maybe this does last longer than I thought, perhaps it just sits insanely close to the skin!

-Opens smelling dubiously similar to window cleaner. (floral aquatic- the bad kind) -Dries down a boring barely-there woody iris scent. (-) -Psst! Maison Violet isn't a violet-perfume centric house. "Violet" is the surname of the founder. (Pronounced: Vio-lay) *Update* -There is prominent iris note to Tanagra BUT the freesia and/or peony ruins it for me. -That note turns this scent into a soapy, perfumey blend that isn't quite as sophisticated as its price tag suggests. -Longevity wise: Rather good longevity that stays close to the wearer, when worn on clothing as opposed to skin.

Scent payoff is so weak. It's honestly even hard to judge because it's so weak. Zero longevity, however, after getting a good whiff of it I feel myself craving this scent. I guess I'm just going to have to decant it and keep it in my pocket for the day because I don't care, I want to smell like this. It's so lovely. I'm really loving several Maison Violet frags after not loving the now discontinued Pourpre D'Automne. Compliment, Tanagra, and Pour Rever are all on my want list after buying Nuee' Bleu. The 50mL are priced better than most designer scents at Sephora at only $110.

I almost discounted this as a hipster nothing scent like Escentric Molecules 01, but now I'm definitely on board with this. It's like Prada Infusion d'Iris was given a healthy dose of pear, orange blossom and freesia. It's mildly soapy on my skin, but that's actually kind of a relief because at first all this scent consisted of was cold iris and uncomfortable cedar. This is really, really enjoyable and I might need to buy a couple more samples of it. I'd never buy a full bottle, but I *like* it quite a bit.

Loving this. It is a touch like JPG's La Belle (the pear and vetiver combo, although I don't get much vetiver.) The tangerine and iris are also huge here, and it's fairly soft and subtly sweet (unlike La belle, thankfully, that one is a real bomb gourmand.) I get a lot of peony too, not so much white floral or cedar (thankfully.) I feel this is a gorgeous, soft fruity powdery gourmand, easy to wear, spring / summer scent. Smells clean, fresh, but sweet and powdery.

I’m entranced by this fragrance. It’s got a silvery shimmery lightness to it... slightly citrus but more the quality than the smell, a cool ethereal (not earthy) thread of iris, and a powdery musky sandalwood like base. I was elated to discover that it smells like Hanni’s shower salve - a likeness that I’ve been searching for in a perfume for years! So excited to have found this fragrance thanks to a random sample being included in another order.

While this does not smell like Andrea Maack Soft Tension, it does bear a similarity. Very feminine and beautiful but very close on your skin. It smells airy, gorgeous and slightly sweet. I’ve smelled the fragrances folks have been saying down below and they pale in comparison. This is a beautiful silk dress moving with your body. Not the most expensive but not “cheap” either. It’s truly breathtaking. This is art.

Soft, powdery, soapy parma violets, light and airy, ethereal, super feminine floral. I don't feel performance is that great. Shy is probably the best way to describe Tanagra, as others have said, although I don't feel that makes it boring - I rarely like bold, loud or heavy fragrances anyway. I think it's very pretty, and if my sample lasts better in the spring/summer warmth, I'll likely get a full bottle.

The most gorgeous smooth powdery floral blend, notably a juicy peony, supported by a subtle beautiful candied tangerine. Pulls off a fluffy synthetic vibe, somewhat reminiscent of baby products, while somehow feeling very natural and not sharp. First powdery fragrance to truly wow me, it feels quite nostalgic.

Spicy Peonies remind me of Gucci II, but we have a lot of Pear here. The two are intertwined and dominate over other notes. I am surprised to see Iris to be so highly rated here. These brand perfumes are all top quality stuff . Tanagra is very nice fresh femine parfum for the spring summer . It smells like floral harmony , soft and clean , not suitable for wanna be bad btches. This brand quality is not less than the top dollar brands like tom ford or kurkudjian.

Musky Iris and cedar. Other fruits and florals mentioned are not noticable but certainly are there and make the frargance what it is. Too much cedar in the dry down. Nice, light, fleeting. 6/10

Not bad, a woody masculine leaning iris. You can't go wrong if you want a powdery scent without the cosmetic bag or lipstick scent. This is cedar and iris. Confident, reminds me of Dior Homme.

On paper: Sugary yet airy pear with a very clean soapiness. A white floral note I can't pinpoint. High pitched violet, dry floral and not candy-like. Slightly chalky.

Except for the pear that I don’t like, the blend is okay but not one ingredient nor note excites me. Tanagra gives me quiet and shy, which makes it boring.

Freesia, Iris, Pear, Peony, You can easily imagine a powdery soap or shampoo-like scent from flowers and fruits. lovely.

Beautiful tangerine that's a perfect mix of sweet and sour, dries down into a powdery peony. Moderate performance

It's a really close to the skin scent, definitely not offensive in any way.
