Bahiana

I'm not sure how peotically I can wax about this fragrance so I don't think I'll try. I'm mostly writing this because I feel the need to shout from the roof tops buy this stuff!!!! It's fantastic!!!!! This is quickly becoming a summer favorite. It's 100% nuzzle worthy. The lime makes for a gorgeous bite at the top and I can instantly smell the gaiac wood which~mercifully~restrains itself from it's peppery leanings. The musk and coconut change this into a sweet tart experiance that I wouldn't miss for anything. I completely agree w/what's been written by others so far. Bronze Goddess doesn't hold a candle to Bahiana but they are in the same fragrance family. Virgin Island Water~yep. Smells much better on my husband than on me and it too is comparable to Bahiana.Light Blue? Bahiana doesn't go all cedary on me like light Blue does. It's much gentler. The edges are all ironed out and it just seemlessly morphs from one phase to the next. Spectacular summer perfection and so versatile. This is beach appropriate, movie, dinner, bar~b~q's, afternoon/ evening drinks on the patio, splashing around w/the kids, a summer cruise, boating, traveling in the car w/the family, site seeing, first date, I could go on and on. Really a stellar offering from this house. Yaayyy!!

I cannot beleive noone has reviewed this one yet! It is fist position on my wish list! Many people compare it to Virgin Island Water or Bronze Goddess whereas I can say Bahiana is definitely my favorite due to several reasons... Bronze Goddess is kind of missing something, I find it flat and boring after a while. There is just no spark to it. Another rason for me not to buy it is that it only stays on for about 2 hours. Virgin Island Water is a different story, it is more masculine, not so fruity due to the strong base with the rum. So it smells more like a sumer cockail (not a sweet one though). Now Bahiana just smells tropical like fresh exotic fruit, bright greens like after a rainfall and of course musk. To me it smells like a day in Brazil's beautiful rainforests and beaches. The main reason why I find this one a masterpiece is that it is one of the few tropical and exotic fragrances out there that is not just fruity and sweet... it has way more to it!

Bahiana is surprisingly soft. The citrus opening is light and bright. For a perfume based on such vibrant city as San Salvador de Bahia, I was expecting something louder. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a beautiful, fantastic fragrance. Is one of those perfumes that everybody should have. It's so well done, no harsh edges, no clashing of notes, no overpowering. It feels like a luminous, fresh symphony. Thankfully the coconut is barely perceptible. The lemon, mandarin and rose create a wonderful trinity that feels so calm, peaceful and easy. I highly recommend Bahiana. By far one of the best fragrances I've smelled in a long time. Thumb up!

In the opening I smell a creamy, almost dense sandalwood, cut by the dry freshness of cedar and the bright lift of citrus with a floral edge. Woody, but not heavy: there’s a balsamic smoothness that settles gently on the skin. As it dries, the sandalwood slips into the background and a solar, milky creaminess comes through, coloured by a green rose brushed with jasmine and traced with a clean thread of vetiver. It feels like a beach at first morning sun: breezy, luminous, quietly radiant. Close to the skin, it stays creamy and fresh, with a discreet sense of refinement.

Gorgeous fresh citrus no sharpness, not as sweet as TF mandarino but rounded by what I believe is the coconut and the woods. No flowery neroli notes but a touch flowery. Not long lasting on skin but smells fabulous on cloths and lasts much longer. Definitely leans feminine but I think my husband will enjoy wearing it in hot summer days.

I love coconut fragrances that are not just plain or synthetic coconut but much more of a coconut midsummer dream at the beach.This one is very uplifting due to the mix of green notes with the coco. Perfect for summer. Sillage is not that great but the price is very affordable so you can spritz this whenever you want.

This is beautiful. Initial reaction is like a high. soft-citrus-woody-musk dries down to a dreamy place. Rose throughout. 2005?!

Pleasant. Doesn't hit any marks for me. On the lower end of "like;" that is to say; just makes grade. A so-so, inoffensive, passive blend of citrus, pine and coconut-lotion, with a sprinkle from an oud accord which is still more pronounced than the base notes. Oud and everything else alternate, dominating the scent in revolutions. Amounts to a decent skin scent. Everything here is subtle, to the point of transparency. They could've turned the dial up by one. Seriously, turn up the volume.

This fragrance reminds me in spirit of Batucada by L'Artisan while not smelling like it really, other than being a kind of fresh, fruity, cologne, scent. I get the subtlety and mild creaminess of lactones, which lends a slight coconut quality supporting essentially a mild green, citrus, musk. I really enjoyed it to be honest. Bahiana was all set to be a snorefest but it actually has some really endearing qualities and dries down to a beautiful base, which retains the fresh top notes.

Before I looked at the notes, I thought I was smelling yuzu, the Asian hybrid fruit made from mandarin and some other exotic citrus. The opening is beautiful: lemon and gauaic wood, with some light florals. The drydown gets creamier as the citrus burns off. What prevents this from being a masterpiece is performance. I’m getting less than an hour, but for that hour that it’s present it’s beautiful. I just wish it was 2x longer.

Ahhh Bahiana! Such a beautiful spring and summer scent! Sadly on my skin lasts about an hour tops! What I do get in that magic hour is so beautiful citrusy freshness then musky undertones and it has as many have stated that exotic tropical feel one craves! I do appreciate it but I wish I had the right skin chemistry for this beauty to dance and linger longer!

It smells great but has low lasting power. It's gone within 30 minutes (on me at least). I can safely say that this is a luxurious Light Blue - the concept that they were born out of and the sense that they both give you as frangrances is quite similar.

Uncomplicated summer freshie. I get mostly lemon with a peppery undertone. Think south of France, early dinner outdoors, linen pants, June-July, easy-going drinks, and breezy sunsets.

Bahiana is more fruitier and better quality version of Light Blue. So if you like Light Blue, you will like this, no doubt!

I did like this fragrance, which seemed very busy but fresh and tropical, but it was shockingly fleeting in longevity.

Kind of a special take on citrus. It took a minute for the coconut to show up for me, but it makes everything really delicious. That said, I think the fir is a bit too strong in the mix. Ultimately, I couldn't see myself wearing this, but there /is/ something delightful about it.

I cannot explain how this smelled on my skin, but I detected a vegetable-ish note, and then something flat and buttery. The drydown seems slightly woody. On me, this scent is interesting but not floral and decidedly non-floral. It's not to my taste, but not awful either. Frankly, I expected something a bit more tropical.

To me, Bahiana comes across as a fruity-green sweet citrus fragrance almost candy-like at times, but also quite natural so it remains smooth and pleasant throughout. It leaves a mellow, tropical impression and makes me imagine walking by a garden somewhere in the South Pacific on a pleasant, breezy day. There are crisp, watery green notes, light florals, and something vaguely resembling a refreshing cocktail. Although coconut is listed in the notes, Bahiana doesn't enlist the sweet, creamy variety that's found in scents like Philosykos and Virgin Island Water. So if you're looking for that, you're better off looking elsewhere. Instead, coconut as it's interpreted here refers to Agua de Coco, or coconut water, and its cooling green transparency, much different than and not to be confused with coconut milk. Bahiana's a light scent, with maybe a foot of projection at the most, but it's okay in this instance as it seems to be the intention rather than a flaw in the perfume itself. As it dries down, it fades into a subtly clean and fresh base of woody white musk and it serves itself well as a classy, understated conclusion. A nice choice for the spring or summer, what I enjoy most about Bahiana is its subtlety. Besides its soft sillage, the sweet notes never become too sweet, the florals serve as accents, and rather than coconut milk, which might be the obvious choice, Bahiana incorporates coconut's greener and more watery facets. Thumbs up and worth sampling, Bahiana is 100% unisex; there's nothing in here that would be difficult to pull off for men or women. If I have one complaint, it's that the longevity is a bit short-lived. I get about 4 hours with it, though it's an enjoyable four hours and sometimes that's all I really need. EDIT: Having worn this a few more times since my review I have noticed some creamier aspects of the coconut note come out as well. It's subtle, but provides a nice soft texture and just a little bit of that classic coconut milk smell in the base.

There are some summer days where I can't quite stomach the sweetness and creaminess of Bronze Goddess. Bahiana is a great alternative if you're looking for a brighter beachy scent (and without the salt notes that you get in some other beachy-suntan lotion perfumes). It's very citrusy and fresh, refreshing on a hot day. There is coconut, but instead of BG's caramel and cream, it's buoyed by juicy, crisp citrus. The fir resin and wood give the drydown a bit of green, foresty freshness and make the composition seem more substantial than just citrus + coconut. I don't think I've ever gotten rose out of this, but I could imagine there being a greener kind of rose in there somewhere, lending an ever so slightly floral note to the mix. I can see this working well on a man also, since the freshness and pine sort of hint at a sporty aftershave kind of thing. Projects a nice little scent cloud for the first hour or two and then settles down to more of a skin scent. Longevity is good and will last all day if you spray enough to begin with, and I think you can get away with a pretty heavy dosage without it becoming cloying. The feather on the cap is... well, it is a nice and soft feather! I don't know how long I'll hang onto it--occasionally feel offended on behalf of my other bottles when Bahiana's feather slaps them in the face when getting moved about the cabinet. A very nicely blended citrus-coconut-fir for summertime!

Bahiana is a wonderful fragrance. I ordered a sample from Luckyscent.com and found this to be extraordinary! This fragrance opens up with a bit of citrus spice, with some sweet fruity greens. Bahiana gives off this airy, but pungent aura that really invigorates your senses as the drydown expands. I had a bottle, and a back up bottle, not to mention Batucada by L'Artisan and Ananas Fizz and it does not warrant having all in the collection as they all give similar feel/genre. Great fragrances, however the sweet-citrus, coconuty essence, slightly fruityness, with greens mixed with sea-marina vibe that they all give, again does not suggest the need to have them all. One of the above-mentioned would suffice the desire to acquire such an aura. I guess you will have to try for yourself!!!! Some of these remind me slightly of, Virgin Island Water by Creed, but also, Batucada and Ananas Fizz by L'Artisan, even D&G Light Blue. All are worth a try!

Bahiana is basically a woody citrus with some floral thrown in but, whereas other fragrances of the same genre tend to dry down to harsh and overly synthetic woody bases, this one smells extremely well balanced. The usual woody-citrus structure is enriched by a remarkable tropical fruit vibe and slight clean-musky/ambery undertones. The fruity notes are photorealistic but, again, they smell so natural and sophisticated as opposed to the usual plasticky and sticky vibe I get from other fragrances with similar notes. Overall, Bahiana strikes as a modern composition but the srong heritage of Maitre Parfumeur Et Gantier is clearly remarkable throughout and serves as a big plus to turn this fragrance in one of the best in this genre. If you're looking for a unisex summery fragrance that's easy to wear yet anything but dull, this is one to keep in consideration. Very nice. Rating: 7/10

Today I donned Maître Parfumeur BAHIANA without knowing where I'd be going, but the answer emerged swiftly enough: a Caribbean island! The scene is the beach: a slight touch of coconut mixed in with fresh citrus and a salty edge all wafting about in the warm afternoon wind on a sunny day by the water's edge. Half reading a book, half falling asleep, I lie on a chaise longue under a big umbrella covered with bright red, yellow, and blue balloons, counting my blessings that I'm not freezing in Boston. It worked: I stayed in today and traveled to the Caribbean rather than braving the wintry elements in Boston, thanks to BAHIANA, a quintessential vacation scent. This creation conveys the same general spirit as Bond no 9 CONEY ISLAND and Creed VIRGIN ISLAND WATER. It also reminds me a bit of Histoires de Parfums 1873. It's carefree and simple and naturally smelling. I like it!

Bahiana is very fresh and uplifting. It opens with fresh citrus and for once this citrus doesn't go all sharp and bitter on me. The rose and coconut seem to add that something special that keeps this scent feeling sunny and beautiful.I don't find the coconut as heavy in this as say Virgin Island Water. It's not a powerful scent, but I'm feeling like when the heat comes on in the summer months here in California, this will be a scent that could blossom even more in warm weather. Also, I think a man could easily wear this one. I really love this perfume and an added bonus is the gorgeous bottle.

This perfume is a panacea if you're feeling a little down in the dumps! A burst of energy as soon as you spray it, it evolved almost immediately into a tropical scent, it reminds me of a cocktail, the Caipirinha, where there is lime and coconut among the other ingredients.... very citrusy with an aromatic green hint and after not even that long I notice the coconut even if light, I can feel it in the distance but it's beautiful mixed with this tropical mix, I like it a lot and I think it's a nice unisex, in my opinion in summer it's the best

Orange lime coconut cocktail Understandably a top seller of the house, bahiana starts sweet limy and orange-like in the opening and soon reveals a creamsicle coconut-like dry down. Good longevity for a freshie, 3-4 hours on a hot day. Certainly more feminine leaning, due to the creamy sweetness. Not my type of citrus, but very safe and easy to wear. Not necessarily what i look for at MPG, but nothing to complain about here.

Initially, I got a blast of lovely sweet fruity coconut. After a few minutes though, it turned to wood, nothing but wood for hours, then something sour arrived for the rest of the day. I found it quite masculine, and annoying when it went sour. No carribean holiday for me today :(

Orange, lemon, and soft oud.... EVERYTHING but the coconut! Oudi citrus at max and mostly it's oily orange that turns into balsamic later. Slightly sour but oily. Not really quality, and not that blessing, just another blend made for an unknown season!

The rose in this is very strong on me. I would say this is primarily a lemon & rose scent with some very soft woods.

It's a beautiful fragarance but I find the more it dries down the more masculine it smells.

Smells like pure coriander to me.
