Fusion Sacrée Clair

Gardenias in Narnia! Fusion Sacrée Clair is a masterpiece that puts most other allegedly complex perfumes to shame. It opens with a deliciously snappy and crisp green gardenia and sweet mandarin (almost like the kind in the can—a guilty pleasure of mine, especially eaten cold out of the fridge) made tart by black currant and rhubarb, that slowly (probably due to the perfume’s density—it wears almost like a pure parfum) dissolves, like a movie scene, to a sleigh ride in a winter forest chock with evergreen trees laden with snow so white and sparkling that it would be blinding if you didn’t have your trusty oversized Chanel shades on. Underneath your hood, you’re wearing gardenias in your hair like Billie Holliday, tucked around your earmuffs, and your feet are snugly wrapped in boots and extra blankets with warming irons underneath. You’re wrapped in plush layers of pure cashmere, warm but nearly weightless, with a thick muffler tucked under your chin, and in your thermos you have a billowy steaming hot white chocolate mocha, possibly fortified with a shot of Kaluha to keep you extra warm. You’re wearing a dab of your favorite tuberose and amber perfume behind each ear, and your muffler smells like the sensual myrrh and benzoin incense you sometimes burn on chilly nights. The fresh, cold, bracing air carries up the occasional wafts of your perfume, your gardenias, your incense, and your coffee as you sip your drink and snuggle into your blankets and cushions. The horses’ manes jingle cheerily, winter sun peeks through the fir branches, and icicles sparkle around you. Once you’re back home, you unwrap your layers, rearrange the gardenias in your hair, and relax on a chaise in front of the fire, whose warmth lets your perfume bloom into a soft, creamy cloud next to your skin. You take a clementine from a nearby bowl and peel it, leaving the peel in a flat wicker basket where other peels are drying and filling the house with their sunny, cheerful fragrance. There’s hot coffee brewing somewhere in the house, possibly hot cider too (with cloves), and the fragrant, almondy scent of sugar cookies fresh out of the oven. Someone brings you a cup of hot cider, its tart and fruity steam joining the other delicious scents on and around you. Wearing this perfume is like experiencing all this, on an continual loop, with all of its elements moving into focus and then fading to the background as it goes. Comparisons with Amouage are apt, but something about this perfume’s softness feels a little less grand and more comforting. It’s still a diva, but she’s the kind of diva that likes to kick off her Manolos and curl up on the couch with a book, or a girlfriend to gossip with, and a glass of something robust—Nigella Lawson rather than, say, Madonna. Many perfumes that try to incorporate white florals and gourmand elements fail, resulting in either gross gourmands or weird and unsatisfying florals. Fusion Sacrèe Clair gets its proportions right, and it comes together into a floral oriental with fresh, beautiful, and lifelike (but never screechy) florals on a sexy, dark, complex amber base with a hint of mineral salinity. I don’t really smell figs, but my bottle has evolved sinceI bought it a couple of years ago—a sign that it has a lot of high quality naturals—and some elements are now there that I couldn’t smell before, so it’s possible that the fig will show up with subsequent wear. When my bottle was new, it smelled much sharper and louder. It’s still strong stuff, but it seems to be softening and becoming more complex, the way that Shalimar and Chanel Cuir de Russie parfum age over time—going from beautiful to downright narcotic (and that is not a word I throw around casually). Sillage goes from moderate (but lingering—it trails like a pure parfum) to massive depending on how zealously you apply. Overzealous application will leave you with a headache or worse, so be careful. Projection is not aggressive unless you overspray, because I think this perfume is supposed to wear close to the body. I like a small spritz inside each elbow and then a light shower over clothes and hair once I’m completely dressed. I get between 12 and 24 hours of wear, depending on all the usual factors—weather, what kind of mood my skin is in that day, how active I’ve been, etc. Fans of grand, complex perfumes like Amouage, Mona di Orio, high end Guerlain, and Frederic Malle should at least check this out, along with Majda Bekkali’s other perfumes. (Price wise, her perfumes are kind of a steal compared to those houses). If you love white florals, this is a must try—the same goes if you’re into sumptuous orientals. It’s a serious, luxurious, all day perfume from a house that deserves more attention. Bertrand Duchaufour is nothing less a wizard, and this belongs on the list of his greatest work.

I am not experienced in fragrance nor is my nose very good. This is a mood for me, the first one I flat out loved as soon as I sampled it. It feels like Christmas to me. Not for a sunny day -- but when I'm in a bad mood, or it's cloudy/foggy (as it often is where I live even during the summer) -- it's perfect. The coziest feeling. I feel like I can detect the coffee and the fir (which is probably why it feels alot like Christmas to me). Drydown is sweet fir and spices. I can barely detect the flowers. OTOH, my partner who has a much better nose can definitely detect gardenias/florals, and cannot detect the fir. He is neutral to this fragrance (I think he prefers florals and floral aquatics without as much spices) but he doesn't hate it. So that's good enough for me to wear it!!! I've never had good luck with liking fragrances, and tried to pick ones my partner would like (and I personally love real orange blossom and rose smell, but after numerous attempts, I think orange blossoms and rose notes in fragrances are not to my liking). This is one of the few I've tried that was so "warm" and "sweet" -- I think I love "warm/spicy" fragrances but with florals! Now I want to try fragrances I didn't think I'd like to see if I like them! My first review. Edit: While it gives a cozy vibe, it also manages to make me feel like a woman. This isn't a little girl fragrance (to me anyway). As many of the reviews state, feminine :)

Stunning, stunning, stunning. This perfume literally has everything, probably one of the most extensive (and varied) note profiles of any perfume in my collection, and somehow it all co-exists and works in complete harmony. Powdery-leaning, vanillic florals typically do not work with my skin chemistry (it's why I almost never reach for my bottle of Shalimar, sad face) but the creamy tuberose and gardenia keep it from getting too heady. I get just a peek of the juicy clementine and fig, and just a hint of the coffee and clove, but if you asked me to pick out individual notes without reading what's on this page, I couldn't do it. It's just too well-blended for that. After about an hour, once this really heats up, the vanilla and amber emerge from where they've been lurking and the whole thing goes nuclear. (I mean that in the best way possible, btw.) I even get a bit of yeastiness from the bread? Seriously, HOW does this all work? How? A worthwhile investment if you're looking for something feminine and effortlessly sophisticated. It's beautiful, and you will feel feel beautiful wearing it.

What does this delicious concoction smell of you say? To me it’s a gorgeous bouquet of white narcotic florals and some bright sheer orange blossoms! Balanced off by warm fruits like black currants muddled with fig and spiced to perfection with clove and a pinch of coriander. It’s a warm and musky cloud of a full bodied Colombian black coffee brewed to perfection and topped off with a decadent warm drizzle of caramel! In the background I get delicious fruits slight fresh citrus harmoniously blends into the rhubarb balancing off the caramel sweetness so it’s not overpoweringly saccharine. As it dries down I get a gorgeous woody musky base with a pinch of vanilla, powdery heliotrope and a shadow of the aromatic coffee in the air. This time dry with a cedar kick to anchor the base. It’s a beautiful and delicious olfactory experience! If you like sweet aromatic florals! This is a must test! Not for the faint of heart and definitely for the niche enthused! 💞

Fusion Sacree Clair to my nose is a wall of gardenia syrup and coffee, and despite never experiencing a scent quite like this specifically, it still makes me feel extremely nostalgic. The heavy white florals take me back to my childhood visiting my grandparents in rural south Georgia. I remember sitting on the front porch swing on warm humid evenings and the air would be thick with the scent of gardenias, magnolia and climbing Confederate jasmine. All this would mingle with the smell of black walnut bushes, fig and pecan trees, and topped off with the smell of the after dinner coffee the grown-ups were drinking. This is rich, heady stuff! After a couple of hours though the sticky gardenia starts to fade and I get a warm, sweet vanilla-patchouli that lasts out the evening. Beautiful.

I'm so in love with Fusion Sacrée Clair!! I'm no expert but it seems very well balanced and is just a joy to smell. I love a coffee note (actual coffee bean, not coffee-sugar-milk) that supports like this does, rather than taking over. No one note takes over here at all, but I can smell them all like they are components of an autumn symphony. Sacred Fusion is a perfect name for this! Fruits, white florals, spices, woods all combine to create a comforting warmth within that somehow also gives an aura of cool, zingy freshness up top. A very lively perfume that dries down sweet but never too sweet. Gorgeous bottle, and long-lasting to boot. Thank you to Bertrand Duchaufour and Majda Bekkali for making this!!!

Aaaahhhhh!!!! What a beauty!!!! Oh I love Fusion Sacree For Her - it's exquisite!!! Such wonderful things in it!!! I love the rhubarb, it's brilliant, and gosh, everything!!! It's lovely and sweet and gentle, quite thrilling really. It's amazing. So many lovely ingredients! Beautiful coffee, gorgeous clementine!!! Gorgeous gardenia, tuberose and jasmine!!! And vanilla, and figs, black currant, heliotrope!!! Many many things, but so well-blended, I have to look for the individual notes. It's just a gorgeous smell!!!!! I just adore this house! And these brilliant masterpieces of bottles!!!!! Gosh!!!

This smells divine! I tested Fusion Sacree- For Her several times before forming a firm opinion of the fragrance. Fusion Sacree- For Her starts off very fruity, sweet and unique. At the top I get rhubarb, fig, orange blossom, tuberose and coffee. If it sounds like a lot that's because it is- and it smells incredible! After the vibrant opening, vanilla and patchouli unveil themselves deepening the composition. The result is delicious, fruity and soulful. This is very nice. The key to understanding this fragrance is to allow it to run it's course before making up your mind. I dig this one!

This is everything you want in a perfume. Strength, sillage and ohhhhh the elegant beauty! I think I have fallen in love with myself. I do love gardenias and tuberose. While jasmine is not my favourite in perfumery, I love the scent in nature and it is great here. Together in this concoction they are blissfully happy; Naids harmonising on their fey instruments, lulling all who hear to blissful happiness. Better than so much else of this genre, a class of its own.

Gleaming and acidic; a double-edged blade dipped in rhubarb and citrus and passed through the thick, acrid smoke of burning resins. A thundering of hooves as sunrise gilds the horizon, white petals crushed into the stone beneath them. Arresting and triumphant, like a mythical queen wearing a crown of hammered gold and nothing else. Smouldering, symphonic, and eternal.

Such a complex fragrance... It has everything — vegetalness, white flowers, sugary sweetness, spices, coffee — yet nothing clashes. All the notes interweave gracefully and dance together. It shifs and reveals itself like a moving kaleidoscope, notes emerging and folding back into one another. Enchanting and mysterious; not a pleaser. Invites reverence and intimacy.

This is a creamy tuberose fragrance with hints of warmth and spiciness. The sillage is incredible on this sweet fragrance. There is something cozy and comforting— maybe the coffee and fig gives it a bit of grounding. It almost feels like there are laconic touches. It’s a special fragrance.

Instant love, cant wait to discover how it unfolds! Sweet heady floral! Try the slightly less expensive Aerin Gardenia Tuberose - they have an identical note , Aerin is crisp and transparent while Majda is syrupy , Both are favorites. And Roja dove Lily is identical but uber expensive.

+ Jeeze, I'm so in love with this! Devastatingly feminine (but anyone could wear it). White florals, sweet fruity notes, and warm spicy notes. To me, this is perfection but it's a porsche and I can afford a prius. Smells great anyway. Sadly, fbw for me. haha

GORGEOUS sweet very complex and feminine perfume. Beautiful.

It's very sweet, very strong, a bit cloying, and a little weird- it's too much! But it's also intoxicating, and absolutely worth owning for me because it's the only thing I have smelled in perfumery that reminds me of the Aloysia virgata (sweet almond bush) that I had at my old house. That shrub is said to smell like vanilla almond, but that isn't quite how I would describe it- a friend once told me it smelled like Smarties candy, and he was right! Smarties and dense white flowers. The scent traveled far and wide on the breeze, and drew you toward it. It was very sweet, very strong, a little weird, and a bit too much. And I adored it! This isn't a replica of that flower, but it's got a lot of similarity and tickles the same place in my brain. I got a great deal on a gorgeous bottle and could not be happier! Oh, and performance is crazy. Go easy on it. Strong and lasts forever!

Fusion Sacree For Her is definitely the inferior sibling of the two. Not a bad offering; both are equally unisex but saying this smells like the male version is facile. That's like saying Amouage woman and man share similarities. Duh!! Although this starts with a strong diet root beer accord, the frag never exceeds the gourmand speed limit. This is well made and properly mixed; for that reason, it's hard to gauge what notes prevents this from becoming too gourmandish. The longevity isn't to my liking. This appears to clock in at 4 hours on my July skin. I hate to be the one to reduce this fragrance to a root beer float but it is what it is. All in all, it's aiiight! Tons of notes guarantees a different experience so try if you will.

What a puzzling creation. The kitchen sink must be in there somewhere lol You get bombarded with surprising notes. I get the vegetable up front. I admit I'm not at all keen on the opening. I would never have guessed about the tuberose. Thankfully on the dry down it improves considerably but do I want to wait?! Now the tuberose can surface with that slightly sour backdrop. Im having a hard job picking out the rhubarb and coffee. They definitely add an interesting backdrop to the familiar white floral notes. I do like it. Be aware though that the opening will be challenging unless you usual favour smelling of obscure vegetable like scents. It certain hangs around along time.

This is strong stuff, 2 sprays only, and you will perfume the car/lift/bus. It's a sweet, hefty fruity floral, very well made and quite a one-off, I haven't found anything else which has such a big dose of rhubarb. For me it's only a "like" but if you don't mind the rhubarb/fig, you may fall in love, as this is an incredible blend including balsam, vanilla and tuberose. Not for wallflowers or confined spaces, I highly recommend you try it, preferably in Spring or Autumn, because it's so unusual. It's consistently keeping high prices on eBay for a reason - there's nothing like it. Your sample will give you several days' wear, and everyone will ask you what it is! xx

I’m going through my perfume collection and I realized I’ve worn Fusion Sacrée Clair for a couple of years and have not reviewed her. Well, simply put, she’s a big lipstick, high heeled Diva...with a capital D. Fusion Sacrée Clair is a tart, fruity, fluffy floral. I can’t pick out individual notes, it all melds together and smells like a Y2K creation; a perfume from a bygone area. It’s a lot to chew on, so I spray on my body parts far away from my nose (wrists and ankles only). She’s too big to wear in warm weather, and she’s too much in close quarters so go light on the trigger.

gardenia, Tuberose, citrus, vanilla, figs, black current, with slight sweetish spices, i can smell cantaloupe, Syrian jasmine, ambergris, and watermelon. too much ingredients to establish an acceptable fragrance. sweetish spice complex with an astonishing silage and i guess a very longevity fragrance. not bad though and not amazing either for me, i need to test it more to see the individuality that captured me!

This smells like (20%) coco cola mixed with crushed smarties (75%)(candy) with a lil bit of smoke/dustiness (5%). 12h+ with a THICK 3 foot bubble sillage 8.5/10 scent This scent almost smells like someone crushed up a bunch of smarties and blew the dust in your face on how thick and dusty it is

I really like this, it reminds me of incense. It's earthy and spicy. My nose is not trained enough to know what all I'm picking up but it is a very complex fragrance with so many notes.

Everything in here is dreams to me except the corriander, i am so sensitive to it that it's all i can smell sadly :(

I can feel pleasantly fig nectar and then orange blossom and tuberose, no coffe. Great for sophisticated women.

A lot like Sarah Baker’s Tartan

This opens with a heavy hand of coriander and a very green rhubarb. Don’t get much of the other top notes sadly, but this quickly goes into white floral territory in a more enjoyable blend. The florals are sweet and creamy with a slightly spiced bread note. The fig in this is fairly green as well. This is suprisingly really fresh and green but the florals are very creamy and sweet. This is also weirdly very vegetal. To me what I get most is white florals with some creaminess, hints of spice and warmth, and vegetal greenness. The dry down maintains the grennness with an added vanilla and some musky resinous accords. Not particularly my favorite scent profile, as I feel some of these notes feel like they shouldn’t be together.

The first two hours of wear was a constant push-pull of tart rhubarb, juicy clementine, and sweet, sugary fig and vanilla. After combing my memory for why the scent seemed so familiar, I finally hit upon it: Sweet Tarts. It smells exactly like Sweet Tarts. I would have loved to experience the fruits of this fragrance without the over-sweet sugar. In the later drydown, the rhubarb sadly disappears on my skin, and all I'm left with is a very sugary kids' breakfast cereal; in fact, it resembles Lostmarch Lann-Ael, except lacking the lovely apple note that makes Lann-Ael so special for me. I know milk and grains are not listed notes, but I sure do sense that they are in there; likely the heliotrope and musk are tricking me. I got no coffee at any stage, which also was disappointing; I also got zero fir, or cedar. There is a pale but distinctive patch note in the far, far drydown for me, and it was at this stage (more than 2 hours later) that I got a sudden Fancy Nights vibe from this fragrance, and less sweetness. Overall, I wish this fragrance had emphasized its fruitier notes for longer, and held back on the sugar overload. The very different stages that bookend the cereal sweetness are quite interesting, but they are far too fleeting. The bottle is quite lovely.

expired suntan lotion, boardwalk bathroom freshener, a treacle-soaked slice of sourdough that permeates the whole room. yuck. the "kaleidoscopic" quality of this scent as mentioned by other users is spectacular. tuberose and coriander melt and shift on waves of buttery warmth into warm cocoa, rhubarb, spices, fruits, and caramel. it's just too MUCH on me. it's like a nursing home patient ushering you to sit on her dusty pink velvet set. curtains drawn, little pockets of her life laid out in mismatched wooden frames and on top of dressers. it's so warm that as she talks you let her presence hug you from all sides. when she leaves, the room is exactly the same but several degrees colder. i wouldn't miss this smell at all until catching it for a moment many years later.

I smell like gardenias mixed with SWEET banana candy. It's a little melon-y, a little round-waxy-fruity, and it actually blends really well with an overripe gardenia smell that has, on me anyway, a little decay type stink to it. Like rotting Banana flavor Laffy Taffy or something! It's definitely interesting but seems super young and.... pink. I smell a bubbly teenager with a pink patent leather purse. Not for me.

Smells very weird to me, vegetal but so sweet. Peicingly sweet actually more than most mainstream scents. Was also very cloying on me, I had to scrub it off. I will say that the sillage and longevity are great.

Really weird one! After initial spray I was like hmm it's quite nice and unique. Then after minute or two it throws me back to my childhood like someone from that period of my life wore similar scent but someone who I did not like! haha This perfume was not yet relesed when I was a child so it was a different one for sure. I can't pin point who exactly wore it but maybe some teacher at school or neighbor. Also when I smell it too close on my wrist I get those chills like when you you try some strong alcohol and then you whole body gets those uncomfortable chills.

Hate it, to me this smells like bread. Super sweet super syrupy bread. Almost like the fruit bread that people eat on the holidays. Rhubarb isn't one of my favorite notes, with that said, my nose only picks up the bread, syrup and rhubarb. My husband picked this fragrance for himself and thiat is how he got his fragrance choosing rights revoked indefinitely.

I sprayed this and it smelled exactly like pickle juice. I am sorry, I don't understand this fragrance at all

A stunner that seems misunderstood, probably because people overspray this very very strong potion. Fusion Sacree Clair is more Amouage than many of the newer Amouages, a little challenging but also very rewarding. This is a winter gardenia perfume, a brilliant idea and well-executed. It sets the white flowers against dark notes that look like gourmands but don't smell like a kitchen or a bakery. The opening that some people find vegetal is necessary to the overall balance, because without that crisp tart opening it could be tooth achingly sweet. And it is refreshing to find a perfume that opens with something besides just citrus. After that, it's a white floral bomb that makes Carnal Flower seem like a shrinking violet, with tuberose and a true gardenia against a rich backdrop of coffee and resins and incense. I smell myrrh, although I don't see it in the notes pyramid. Superb quality materials, complex and very sophisticated. Not for little girls. Lasts forever and a day.

Is it possible to not love this? I cannot imagine that. This was one of the first perfumes I sampled on luckyscent, and I immediately fell in love, and I am still in love with it. Elegant, sweet and tender, it is so smooth blended - the creamy white flowers, the honeylike sweetness, the subtle green. The genius of this is the whipped tuberose and gardenia, beautifully supported by rhubard, black currant and coffee notes. Pure magic! I don't like the musk in the dry down, but there is no question - it is absolutely gourgeus anyway. And even though this is a mighty one (careful with the sprays), it still manages - because of its pure elegance - to give you a sense of privateness, and I love that. Absolutely full bottle worthy and my favorite perfume. I usually go for unisex fragrances, but in my opinion this is femme, and the most feminine fragrance I own. It is just too good to pass, even for a a pretty androgynous minded woman like me. Try it!

Ughhh - I was rally really hopng that the rhubarb and fig would be small and hiding away under a nice blackcurrant-dominated opening but - who'm I kidding. You'd rather call this rhubarb sacree! Think like something veggy and rosy-creamy but liquefied. It's not for the timid and 'safees' are definitely recommended to stay away from anything but a sample vial! As usual, the basenotes in a Madja creation are opulent and sumptuous beyond belief - but it's way too much of the usual odd bewildering introduction and first hour or 2 to begin to get there. It's nice and sweet but one of those scent that probably, simpler was better and would have been very nice if a few of the veggy oddities were removed. Disappointing. Basically, another horror show from this House for me, sadly, it just appears a fancy dance for the note-list promenade =/ My rating: 4/10. Scent quality: 9/10.

This is the strongest fragrance I've ever tried. Amazing wowing opening, Great complexity even in the drydown (still projects like a mad man after a full day!), if you stick your nose in it you will get some spice honey-like components, a touch of fruitiness. In the air you can smell it from miles, sweet white flower but not in a super feminine way. What a beautiful unique creation!!! A little too sweet for me but not a deal breaker. **just want to say that again, THE STRONGEST fragrance I've tried

Outstanding creation by B. Duchaufour! Amongst his most inspired creations (together with Nuit de tubereuse,and the whole Neela Vermeire collection) The tuberose note is masterfully rendered, full-force blown in all its most alluring facets: the sharp green, the medicinal blast and the creamy, voluptuous embrace of tuberose with swirls of Camilla, coffee and Woody/ambery notes. Very oomph... Absolutely fantastic, long lasting and very diffusive.

Columbian coffee enveloped in pretty white florals. Fusion Sacrée Clair emits a beautiful green veil that captures the senses from the beginning. Heliotrope and vanilla gives a delicate touch of warmth and a sweetness similar to marzipan. As the fragrance progresses, it gives me a vintage 90s vibe down to the frosted bottle. Feminine, powdery and lavish. I personally would enjoy this on a woman.

This is so complex and interesting. It opened on me with a big green celery note, joined by a sharp rhubarb, then opened into a sweet, buttery tuberose. It's the same green tuberose as in Carnal Flower, but dipped in warm sugary vanilla. It then morphed into a warm gardenia. This is so truly interesting. If I didn't already own CF, I would definitely buy this.

I smell white florals and carrots. yes seriously. This is what I picture Bugs Bunny smelling like when he would cross dress and try to seduce Elmer Fudd with his fake eyelashes and voluptuous hips. What a bad day for samples I'm having!

I love this perfume! I feel like next to me there is a large white chocolate bar, not excessively sweet. It is a long-lasting one and I would like to have it forever in my wardrobe!

Interestingly enough, even though they share almost no notes, this smells VERY close to BDK Rouge Smoking. This has a bit more airy depth than the BDK.

I got a sample today. For such a strange reason, on my skin this fragrance smells of cappuccino (coffee + milk),wich I dislike.
