Bergamot

I enjoyed this. It's fair to compare it to Le Labo's famous Bergamote 22, with which it shares a lot in common. Yes, they are similar enough that the Malin + Goetz could be considered a less expensive dupe of the Le Labo, but there are differences. M+G Bergamot features a sparkly green citrus, an impression that remains all the way through the dry down. There is also the perfect touch of sweetness to this Bergamot, giving it a fizzy lime soda impression. In the heart, the impression of green freshness is carried through with the ginger, mint, and lily of the valley all present. In the final dry down, pleasant woody and clean musky notes round out the composition. This is much more of a skin scent than Bergamote 22, and while the fragrance is very tenacious, I never felt like I had much sillage at all. Compared to the Le Labo, M+G Bergamot is soapier, less woody/vetiver-y, and lacks the same amber-vanilla wamrth. Bergamote 22 is unisex leaning ever-so-slightly masculine to my nose, while M+G Bergamot is unisex leaning very gently feminine. Very pleasant!

I was pleasantly surprised by this. Its the purest definition of fresh-spicy, certainly citrus forward, but I would quite define it as bergamot. I would say it is bergamot romanticized. It lacks the juicy tea-like freshness that is so characteristic of the bitter fruit, but in its place, it glows with a breezy sweet/peppered floral nature. Absolutely unisex, rather sexy. The cost is a bit high, but its classy, not too loud or sickly. A must for spring to fall, an would br great layered with a sandalwood scent in winter. At first spray: bright, bold, citric-floral, almost jasmine like, but without the heady thick quality. A confidence booster. 1 hour: smooth, sweet, warm, and quiet. Stronger than a skin scent, but gentle and intimate. It invites closeness and compliments. 3 hours: sweet/amber/fresh woods. This keeps its freshness all the way through, never drying out, it doesn't quite go powdery/soapy either. Its quiet, subtle, beautiful. Really nice stuff.

Finally, a fragrance that doesn't give me a headache! I have a very sensitive nose so it took me a while to find something compatible. If you want a fragrance that's somewhat inoffensive and on the quieter side projection wise, I think this is for you. It's simple yet confident, opens with a bright sliced bergamot orange + lime squeeze then the subtle note of clean cedar soap comes in gradually and replaces the zest approx 1hr in. A light amber is added to the soap at 2hrs. I love how the tart rind immediately sparkles with a tingle from the ginger and pepper and then nicely peters out during the entire wear. No surprises here. Try before you buy, but I definitely recommend it

Tried this 3 or 4 times at Nordstrom. Nice quality bergamot 🍋. Others have explained it well; reminds me a bit of Le Labo Bergamote 22, but much spicier in mid/drydown, and more green stems. Missing the sparkle of B22, and missing the tart realism of ADP Bergamotto Di Calabria. No Musk like in Bergamotto Guerlain, all of these which I consider best in class. More like a spicier, less lemony version of Commodity Bergamot , which is also a good one. Overall, I like this, and could see myself wearing this one. But if you're looking for the best Bergamot, there's others in the same price range that are better imo. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 4/10

What you expect from Bergamot is what you get. No less no more. It’s like the smell of a green lemon, not a lime but an unripe lemon. Very citrusy, sappy and green. The second note most noticeable is the lily of the valley with a slightly powdery and musky tone. The wood and spices are barely perceptible. Sillage is medium to low. Longevity is impressive on fabric. If you enjoy wearing colognes, then Bergamot may be a good perfume to try.
