Bergamot

I enjoyed this. It's fair to compare it to Le Labo's famous Bergamote 22, with which it shares a lot in common. Yes, they are similar enough that the Malin + Goetz could be considered a less expensive dupe of the Le Labo, but there are differences. M+G Bergamot features a sparkly green citrus, an impression that remains all the way through the dry down. There is also the perfect touch of sweetness to this Bergamot, giving it a fizzy lime soda impression. In the heart, the impression of green freshness is carried through with the ginger, mint, and lily of the valley all present. In the final dry down, pleasant woody and clean musky notes round out the composition. This is much more of a skin scent than Bergamote 22, and while the fragrance is very tenacious, I never felt like I had much sillage at all. Compared to the Le Labo, M+G Bergamot is soapier, less woody/vetiver-y, and lacks the same amber-vanilla wamrth. Bergamote 22 is unisex leaning ever-so-slightly masculine to my nose, while M+G Bergamot is unisex leaning very gently feminine. Very pleasant!

I was pleasantly surprised by this. Its the purest definition of fresh-spicy, certainly citrus forward, but I would quite define it as bergamot. I would say it is bergamot romanticized. It lacks the juicy tea-like freshness that is so characteristic of the bitter fruit, but in its place, it glows with a breezy sweet/peppered floral nature. Absolutely unisex, rather sexy. The cost is a bit high, but its classy, not too loud or sickly. A must for spring to fall, an would br great layered with a sandalwood scent in winter. At first spray: bright, bold, citric-floral, almost jasmine like, but without the heady thick quality. A confidence booster. 1 hour: smooth, sweet, warm, and quiet. Stronger than a skin scent, but gentle and intimate. It invites closeness and compliments. 3 hours: sweet/amber/fresh woods. This keeps its freshness all the way through, never drying out, it doesn't quite go powdery/soapy either. Its quiet, subtle, beautiful. Really nice stuff.

Finally, a fragrance that doesn't give me a headache! I have a very sensitive nose so it took me a while to find something compatible. If you want a fragrance that's somewhat inoffensive and on the quieter side projection wise, I think this is for you. It's simple yet confident, opens with a bright sliced bergamot orange + lime squeeze then the subtle note of clean cedar soap comes in gradually and replaces the zest approx 1hr in. A light amber is added to the soap at 2hrs. I love how the tart rind immediately sparkles with a tingle from the ginger and pepper and then nicely peters out during the entire wear. No surprises here. Try before you buy, but I definitely recommend it

Tried this 3 or 4 times at Nordstrom. Nice quality bergamot 🍋. Others have explained it well; reminds me a bit of Le Labo Bergamote 22, but much spicier in mid/drydown, and more green stems. Missing the sparkle of B22, and missing the tart realism of ADP Bergamotto Di Calabria. No Musk like in Bergamotto Guerlain, all of these which I consider best in class. More like a spicier, less lemony version of Commodity Bergamot , which is also a good one. Overall, I like this, and could see myself wearing this one. But if you're looking for the best Bergamot, there's others in the same price range that are better imo. Scent 7.5/10 Performance 4/10

What you expect from Bergamot is what you get. No less no more. It’s like the smell of a green lemon, not a lime but an unripe lemon. Very citrusy, sappy and green. The second note most noticeable is the lily of the valley with a slightly powdery and musky tone. The wood and spices are barely perceptible. Sillage is medium to low. Longevity is impressive on fabric. If you enjoy wearing colognes, then Bergamot may be a good perfume to try.

She is great. Spicy, fresh and confident. Citruses are kicking the door in and take over as soon as you spray. It is everything I would want from a bergamot fragrance. The longevity is not great (it is a citrus after all), but also is not too bad. The price for this is questionable. 100$ is a bit too much. The site does often go on 20% sales, and I think that it is a bit more fair.

Highly underrated. Great longevity, sillage is intimate. As good as Bergamote 22 with a better dry down. If your'e a Bergamot fan you should try this, the opening might be a bit harsh but after a minute it settles nicely and gives that wonderful citrus-floral balance that bergamot is known for. There is also a light (green) peppery element that I like.

this was probably my favorite of the discovery set tbh- super simple but super enjoyable. if you are looking for a true musky citrus with a hint of wood and spice, this is it. it's super wearable, genderless and just all-around a feel good scent. i've smelled many other linear bergamots and this is one of my faves.

This smells like a bergamot shower gel. Very nice smell clean and not screechy like a lot of bergamot based scents. I have a little 2ml tester might invest in a full bottle if I find it on discount. Since 100$ for a 50ml bottle is pretty steep considering it’s a simple bergamot scent.

Bergamot crushed my heart. Starts so promising. Uplifting, bright, zesty, it’s a symphony of citrus that keeps growing and growing. And then, stops. Suddenly it turns into a nice, proper, clean. skin scent. An extraordinary start that falls flat after 40 minutes.

I love this perfume, and while I don't love bergamot fragrances particularly, it reminds me of my grandmother. bright but not harsh or acidic citrus with a light peppery, woody, and herbaceous base. only downside is it lasts all of one hour.

This reminded me of Dior Homme Cologne 2013... But this has more notes than DHC 2013. Smells the same, not similar...the same! Only difference is DHC 2013 last a lot longer and has better projection, than Bergamot Malin+Goetz. And you can get a 200ML of Dior Cologne 2013 for half the price of this. The Bergamot and musk...strong and dominant enough... To over power all the other notes in this fragrance Smells like a strong lemonade from a soda fountain machine or a minute maid Lemonade mix. This is perfect for the late spring and all of summer. But i wouldn't spend $150 on this...With all honesty, please skip this and niche fragrances like this. Cost an arm & a leg, but don't give you something worth your money you've spent. This is a lovely scent overall... A sweet sweet lemonade scent. But there are better options out there. I used five sprays...both wrist, back & front of my neck & chest. Will I buy this again?...No. Does this fragrance enter BEAST MODE, good, just okay or weak sauce at best? Just okay. On first spray, I immediately set the sample I was trying aside, sure that I didn't even want to finish it. When first sprayed, it smells like undiluted bergamot essential oil. It was strong and unpleasant, but I was in a rush and couldn't shower it off before work, so I wore it the whole day. By the time I got to work, I thought, "Wow, I smell good." And then as the day went on, I kept thinking I smelled better and better. I was very pleasantly surprised. By the end of the day, I had completely changed my opinion and decided I wanted a full bottle, which I have since bought. This is one with a very rough opening but an amazing dry down, and personally I am fine with tolerating an opening for the dry down, especially since this perfume lasts the whole day on me (I'm surprised by other reviews saying it only lasted an hour). It's fresh and woody; personally I don't really get a spicy accord.

Testing Bergamot from a 2 ml Malin+Goetz official sample. A very realistic, natural smelling mix of almost all citruses that exist on planet Earth, refreshing mint, (not toothpaste like), with spicy ginger and cardamom, black pepper and bell pepper, some faint traces of woods and amber! All of this sounds absolutely amazing and it could be, if this scent would last more than 1 hour on skin. But it’s so weak, that no matter how amazingly photorealistic it smells, it’s not worth the money! I have bought Malin+Goetz discovery set after hearing Sebastian, The Perfume Guy, talking about how beautiful Strawberry is and because I always wanted to try Dark Rum. I have started the trial with Bergamot and Leather and so far, I am liking the way the perfumes smell like, but I can’t put up with their abysmal performance. They smell like they are cologne concentration, not EDP...

This is a nice crisp scent, comes out the gate just bergamot bergamot and more bergamot. I mean that is the name of the scent but it is almost to much bergamot, it kind of reminds me of fresh cut grass with a minty musky aftersmell too it, just one spray of it I wasn't too keen on it, but after wearing it for the day it isn't a bad scent. together with being clean and letting it mix with my skin I can say the scent is actually quite nice. I think its a very non offensive smell, though I am sure some people will either love it, or hate it. I think you should get a sample of this before buying for sure as it can be hit or miss. This is indeed a photorealistic bergamot scent. It smells like when I open a bag of earl grey tea. But it's missing something for me. I think the association of bergamot with earl grey tea makes me really wish for a strong tea note to follow the initial bergamot opening. I do understand, however, that this is a bergamot perfume, and not a tea perfume. But in that case, I wish some of the other notes, like the peppermint, were more prominent. I can smell the notes of peppermint and green pepper, but had the mint in particular been stronger, this perfume could have been more interesting. I still enjoy this scent, but it just feels a little incomplete.

When read reviews I thought it'd smell like Le Labo's Bergamote 22 but after I blind-bought it a week ago (because it costs only USD 30 after discount), my thought is no, it's not Bergamote 22 dupe. It's like a twin to Dior Homme Cologne I had years ago. I smell exactly the same on my skin but last a little longer. Sharp citrus openning like a bergamot bomb out of the bottle that quickly fades away in less than an hour for sweet powdery musky notes to take in, like a skin scene and this phase stays long. Very discrete to be considered for everyday use.

Bergamot opens harsh and strident but becomes more comfortable after the first hour when it shifts to a woody, soapy bergamot. It has great longevity. I hesitate to wear it indoors with others as the opening is so strong that I could see it irritating people in an enclosed space. I usually reach for it on days when the housecleaners come as it doesn't clash with the fragrance of the chemicals they use. It would also be a good one for an outdoor event in warm weather.

I usually don't like bergamot, it usually feels like a lazy toss in for top note citrus and smells kind of thin. But I really like this, maybe it's because bergamot is the central note so I appreciate it for first time, or that I'm crazy for green and spicy notes (PEPPERMINT!!!! GINGER!!!!!) In any case, this doesn't have any longevity, but who cares, a citrus perfume should be used for spraying your neck in 90 degree weather.

I just got this fragrance yesterday, I chose this because of its notes I like every single one of them, have to say that this is a great unisex perfume its clean, its fresh and its not over empowering, will keep using it until it runs out, but still looking for a scent that resembles a little bit more of hugo boss in motion <3 ps: if you like bergamot you will like this scent :)

Citrus and spice! It's very different from other citrus fragrances because of those spicy notes. The bergamot presents very strongly in the opening, then comes the spice. Paprika, cardamom, black pepper and ginger with a woody/amber base. I'm not big on spicy fragrances in general, but I like this enough to wear it on occasion. I think it's a good fragrance for fall/winter.

I only smell the bergamot. It almost smells like 100% bergamot essential oil. After 20 minutes it dies down to a lemon smell that reminds me of cleaning detergent. It's quite boring and bland on its own. Might be better paired with something else.

Wow it smells like coriander! Reminds me of Georgian khinkali! I'm a legit cardamum hater which is also fairly present in this scent so won't wear it myself but it's really fun! I like the smell, reminds me of summer in Tbilisi!

A nice (but not groundbreaking) musky citrus fragrance, with bergamot forward. Probably the best scent of the 6 EDTs of this line. Still, it has bad performance. As for bergamot scents, Zegna Italian Bergamot is unequaled.

This has a lovely opening. It’s bright, fresh and green; very refreshing. There is lots of citrus, plus mint and ginger. It’s slightly sharp, presumably from the pepper notes. But it disappears way too quickly!

This was my entry point into fragrance. It is a lovely albeit basic clean and citrus scent. It lacks a bit of depth and doesn't have great longevity, but I really enjoy it for its reasonable price point.

Can't remember if it was the candle I smelled but it's a very nice fragrance. Not my personal preference but if you're a fan of citrusy yet light smells, this is the one for you

A lovely and approachable interpretation of bergamot. Simple, a bit fresh, a bit sweet. I wear this when I want to smell like Earl Grey. A bit overpriced, I'd say.

On my skin, this turned into the most generic soap smell in less than 10 minutes... It's very nice and clean but also incredibly boring.

Dries down nicely, almost fluffy smell. Very strong note of lime comes through first but settles a very green aromatic. Sort of warm

I write my reviews for my own future reference, and test blindly, not researching or looking up the name, notes, etc. till writing down my first impressions. Opened up bright and green, then quickly into a crisp and clean citrus with a bit of spice. As it dries down I get a black pepper and grapefruit mix. When I really shove my nose in there I get the twangy tartness of big grapefruit. I don't like eating grapefruit, but I appreciate the more full-bodied version I get here. At times I get little whiffs of fresh grated ginger that is wet, juicy, and aromatic. I'm testing these blind, but there are only six, so I assume this is the Bergamot one. Yes! (Having guessed the previous two incorrectly, this is a relief). Looking at the notes now, no surprises, but I don't think it is quite as varried in all those notes or has all those layers. Any woods are subtle, in the far, far background, if at all. Wearing it a second time, after an hour or so I get a more classic bergamot scent: familiar, warm, and citrusy. The sillage seems less than moderate, just sitting here I don't really notice it until I bring my arm up. I wish the projection was bigger and echoed the deepest citrus elements I smell up close. I think that would really be something. But here, it sits more on top, like a breezy bergamot sun, suggesting it is a summer fragrance. Longevity was less impressive. After three hours it was barely noticeable, after four hours pretty much gone. All around a nice fragrance, just personally would like it's bigger, less intimate, and longer lasting counterpart. Suggestions?

If you're into smelling soapy-clean (and not much else), then you might find value in this. There is elegance in the top notes which give off bright aromatic citrusy vibes and I can see leading to some knee-jerk purchases, but the heart and base is all soapy-clean. I've noticed this same soapy-clean note in other scents in this line, particularly their vetiver scent, which is a rich, almost incensey (musk R1?) sort of vibe. It's very "cosmetic" and reminds me of the shampoo and conditioner used at a nicer (but not top-of-line) salon. Skip if you're looking for any edge or complexity, or if you want the more woody and spicy aspects of bergamot, but if you want to smell like you just washed your hands all day, this is a winner!

The best utility I’ve found for this is as a shower scent. It’s bright, citrus, clean and a little soapy. Seems to last longer in clothes than on skin, but overall performance isn’t great. I use it kind of like a body spray layer. I don’t get any woods really. Just citrus. Orange, and some bergamot. I’d be super happy with this if it weren’t for the price. Even $60 from a discounter feels too high. It reminds be a bit of the Altelier line, but this is easier to smell (not as strong) and doesn’t have the performance that line does

This is very sharp to my nose. I like a clean, citrus forward fragrance but this is very cleaning product-esque. The pepper, ginger, and green pepper notes almost make it smell savory like a salad with a lemony dressing. I would say that I dont like this, but it actually blends really well when layered with a sweeter bergamot perfume. I love le monde gourmand 000 but its very light, and this brings out the citrus in it very well and gives it a bit more depth. If you like happy by clinique, you'll like this

this one is pretty ! like other malin+goetz fragrances, it doesn’t really develop the way i might expect of a higher-end fragrance. even though bergamot is one of the freshest scent notes available, it misses the mark on actually capturing that zing i usually like in a bergamot centered fragrance. not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but also not great for the value. i’d recommend starting with the malin+goetz sample set before committing to a full bottle!

Way overpriced. Lasts about an hour or two on my skin even after taking an absolute bath in it. It does have a nice citrus opening and a musky dry down, but who cares because it's gone by the time you are finished getting ready. I took a 2mL sample with me and ran through it after a couple of days. If citrus works on your skin and you don't mind respraying throughout the day, it's a great spring / summer scent, but otherwise, there are better options.

Not impressive. To me, the only detectable note is the bergamont. It smells citrusy, a little screechy, and sort of like fabuloso. Like most Malin+Goetz the longevity is just not there. fades within an hour. Maybe good for layering or if you are someone who gets offended by constantly smelling a scent all day. 4/10

This is my second review after spending a year w this. If you can find it for $10, buy it. This is essentially linear body spray with 30 mins of performance. The original $90 price tag is an insult. Get something from Bath & Body Works and save your money imo.

Really nice realistic bergamot with a little wood. I use this as a body spray before the gym 2-3 sprays under shirt. Gone within an hour, but really nice and fresh. Simple and linear, which is also nice sometimes. Fruit Loops vibe as well.

This fragrance is incredibly fresh and something that I always want to smell - but I literally have to hold my nose up to the bottle to smell it! The longevity and projection is so incredibly weak.

Not my cup of tea but if you like to smell exactly like bergamot, this perfume is what you need:) It doesn't hold very long though, keep that in mind.

Strong citrus scent. Too sharp for me.

starts off as a fresh, sharp citrus, more lime than bergamot, with a savory greenness from the bell pepper that makes it weirdly reminiscent of lunch at an open air mexican restaurant. i think it's just by association that i imagine i smell cilantro and tomato leaves. it's unfortunately a pretty simple scent, very slowly a faint wood note comes out and the savoriness is tempered by a little more sweet orange and soapiness i see why someone else could enjoy this but i really don't love it on me. i just smell like i was making a big batch of salsa

Before I got into perfume, I really didn't know what bergamot was. Going off the name I thought (for some reason) it would be some cosy, woody scent. But no, now I understand it is the fancy name for the smell of bleach.

I just tried a sample of this and I find it repulsive, which is odd considering that I am currently using their Bergamot deodorant. I'm not really picking up on any Bergamot here - it does smell fresh but the predominant note I'm picking up is green pepper, but in a sickly, nearly moldy way. I feel compelled to wash it off my wrist, it's that nauseating on me. I am generally a fan of bergamot - Le Labo's Bergamote 22 is the closest thing I've found thus far to a signature scent, though admittedly that bergamote note is subtle. Malin + Goetz Bergamot is a huge disappointment.

Very simplistic and banal fragrance. It’s silage is nonexistent.

i received a sample of Bergamot in the mail from Scent Bird...it was an accident but a nice accident, i did not update my choice for the month of July so they sent me this by default. I was disappointed at first because i thought to myself i should have updated my choice for July but i forgot. So they sent me Bergamot...i tried it on...i liked it ..it was Ok but not really my "type" i like sweet, fruity vanilla scents,...sometimes fresh scents....my step father loved it though...he loved it on me ...he went on and on about how good it smelled...i like the smell but not on me..i looked up the notes and saw its a citrus, fresh spicy scent...yeah..definitely not my type..you ever smelled a perfume...it didn';t smell bad..but it just was not your type...that's how i felt about this one..i also noticed that it is androgynous...a man or a woman can wear it....i think its more masculine though to be honest..i gave it to my step dad and said i would buy a full bottle for his birthday..which is in September ,,right around the corner. so im glad i forgot to update my choice for July cause i found something nice for my step dad. i wouldn't have NEVER bought Bergomot on my own....not even for my step dad....because i wanted to buy Polo by Ralph Lauren for him....but this is actually PERFECT for him...he loves it...i think this great for a man.

Bergamot, indeed. The opening is quite similar to smelling an Earl Grey teabag. I thought there might even be a subtle tea accord added to complete the effect, but it is not listed... Instead, the bergamot note is rounded and slightly sweetened with other citrus and perhaps musk and amber from the base already becoming apparent. Later, some very subdued spiciness appears to change and restimulate the blend. Ginger, pepper, and peppermint are listed, and that makes sense, though all have been added with a light hand. This is not a hot mix. Overall, this is soft take on a fresh scent, with citrus, herbs & spices, and even a light floral touch. It is one done somewhat differently and with care, certainly worth considering.
