Malizia Uomo Vetyver

Contrary to the notes (er, note) listing above, this contains more than just vetiver. From various sources, the top is coriander, bergamot, lemon, mandarin orange and neroli; the heart is vetiver and cedarwood; the base is vetiver. The ingredients include limonene (citrus), linalool (lavender), benzyl benzoate (sweet balsamic wood), eugenol (nutmeg/clove), citral (lemon) and geraniol (geranium). So this is actually more complex than the vetiver-only description would suggest. This opens with a bright lemon/lemon verbena accord, boosted and "complexified" by coriander's lemony-green essence. By 20 minutes, the citrus top is joined by an earthy vetiver, a punch of nutmeg, lavender, a green geranium and some faint woods. To the reviewer who disliked this because he expected a grassy vetiver, this isn't that type. To those who say this is linear, I respectfully disagree. At one hour, this is still wafting off my chest and shirt pretty strongly, though projection is probably arm's length. This isn't a loud fragrance, but it lasts. The vetiver leads the heart that is now developing a smoky aspect. I hate cigarettes, so any comparison to an ashtray is a hipshot. This is more the scent of a campfire in a light breeze 1/4 mile downwind. There is a foresty/earthy aspect to this, green, probably created by the vetiver, geranium and woods, and boosted by the eugenol, all of which support the main accord. At 5 hours, this is still wafting up regularly. The smoky aspect has remained at the same level while the rest of the notes have backed off a bit. I don't like smoky fragrances, but this is a "clean" smoke, and its interplay with the vetiver and flits of cedar, nutmeg and amazingly tenacious citruses and geranium is excellent. This is significantly better than Lagerfeld's Bois de Vetiver, and settles somewhere between Encre Noir Sport and Guerlain's masterpiece Vetiver, with a bit more woodsmoke. It's a keeper for me. One final note: Several reviews here and elsewhere refer to "synthetic citrus". This is a misleading statement. Every perfumer from PDM, Chanel, Tom Ford, Creed etc use limonene, citral, citronellol and other synthetic aromachemicals. They do this because the aromas last longer, the elements don't decay over time, the scents are more consistent than natural materials, and, yes, because they are usually less expensive than naturals. This has these same aromachemicals, but it still smells very "natural". Great bang for the buck, or even purely on its own merits.

Perfect elegance, perfect versatility, all-season and a perfectly straightforward masculine scent that Vetiver lovers could never live without. This fragrance, is the one true fragrance that ignited my explosive love for Vetiver. And it is my very first vetiver fragrance. For far too many times, I caught myself smelling the sprayer of my first bottle just to get a therapeutic whiff of it. Since Vetiver essential oil is known to be the "oil of tranquility", don't be surprised if you feel more calm, collected, inwardly assured after smelling this fragrance. The One-Note-Fragrance introduces you to a fresh, soothing blast of (Haitian) Vetiver, with a slight hint of a subtle uplifting lemon-citrus impression. For this, I heavily suspect that a small amount of Bergamot essential oil is used in Malizia Uomo Vetyver. I find that using this fragrance after a cold shower with a organic Vetiver soap is just a full blown refreshing rejuvenating experience. There are many many times in which this simple perfected fragrance had influenced me to reasonably think that it could be mixed together with more complicated perfumes like Bogart pour homme, Cigar by Remy Latour or El Paso by Lomani to introduce a more masculine Vetiver note in these fragrances. (and those 3 perfumes mentioned above do not have Vetiver notes) That is how perfectly versatile Malizia Uomo Vetyver is. Malizia Uomo Vetyver could be used for perfume layering that enhances other fragrances with Vetiver masculinity without compromising the notes of other fragrances. Costing at a range of $US 2 to $US 7, (from various internet sales websites) it is almost impossible not to buy this fragrance (because it is at least economically affordable) and give it a chance (at least once). Spray on clothes for the best longevity, preferably on your collar where you can smell it.

Picked this up in order to get over the threshold to get free shipping on an order. Didn't have high expectations. However, I was taken aback at just how pleasant this is. The name and single listed note does, to a large extent, foreshadow what you're getting - vetiver. However, I'd say it's not just pure vetiver, it's not the same as just vetiver fragrance oil. It's a very clean, fresh, maybe even a little smoky vetiver. Not in an offensive way, though. A reviewer bellow compared the smokiness to cigarette ash - I'd say I disagree. I deplore the smell of cigarettes and personally (and thankfully) don't pick up anything of the sort. I find it extremely pleasant and easy to wear. I find myself spraying it on just to smell it even at home, which I rarely do with fragrances. It's fresh, clean and very green. Somewhat reminiscent of a rainforest after it has rained. Perhaps where you've been camping. You shouldn't have been camping there, but you're a bad boy, aren't you? Uomo Vetyver is perfect for daytime use during spring, summer and fall, very inoffensive and office-safe. It's also quite versatile in terms of style. I saw one comment calling it "more fit for older guys", another - "high school fragrance". I think it's neither. I find it to be perfectly age agnostic. The formulation is perhaps reminiscent of the 90s/00s, but the scent character is timeless. You can easily use this for most occasions (perhaps bar clubbing, as it isn't strong enough for that). For the price point they're selling this at - it's an absolute steal. Good fragrances in this price bracket are few and far between. This is one of them. Pick it up if you ever get the chance. Blind buy safe due to the extremely low price.

Love it. They also have a Vetyver Eau de Toilette Deodorant which I used years before I bought this EdT. It's very linear scent, in a good way. If you wear it, you may think it would'nt last long or doesn't project that much but I've learned it's not true. I had a funny moment with the Vetyver EdT Deodorant. I was in the mall on a sweaty summer day and had applied it like 5-6 hours earlier. I couldn't smell it on myself anymore and I was full of sweat. I actually felt miserable and thought I would stink! Anyway I walked past a italian dude in the mall and he actually stopped me and asked: Man is that Malizia Uomo? He knew the scent back from italy and gave me a high five. I allways remember this when I wear Vetyver. The only compliment on a fragrance I received from a total stranger was for the cheapest fragrance I own. Over 5h in the heat and the projection was strong enough for him to notice and identify this iconic scent. Value is amazing! I bought 2 bottles for 6 bucks each. It does also work in the winter but I would probably choose something else, especially on really cold days.

For the price of this, it’s an absolute no-brainer. It’s not high-end, it’s not as refined as Guerlain, but I find I use this much more than that one, since it feels fresher or more youthful, perhaps. It’s less dry and heavy, in fact, super clean and fresh—very much top notes. Somehow, it makes me think of the Italian Chinotto drink. It has a refreshing fizz to it—there must be citrus in here? Either way, it doesn’t last long, so it probably works well after a freshen-up shower post-beach or to take the edge off your gym sweat before you get a chance to feel more clean. But definitely not in a situation where you need longevity. I probably use the flanking products more, though—like the aftershave, which is so nice, especially if, like me, you shave both your face and head at the same time. I had the shower gel at one point, too, and that’s also very nice and totally clean.

Edit 2026 It has been nearly 15 years since I wrote this review and this fragrance had become much more common. It can be bought for $15 or less. I still wear this often and the deodorant is outstanding. This is a really great fragrance. It has only just become available where I live and is not that cheap ($25 Aus for 50mL EDT). It is, however, good value for that price. What impresses me is the crispness of this vetiver: it is very transparent. I have experience with vetiver essential oil and the sample I have is very smoky and smells a bit like canned peas (at least to me). The vetiver in Malizia is of a different sort and, even though it is not mentioned, I am pretty sure it is complemented by lemon. I give this fragrance 7.5/10

In North Africa where I grew up, brand perfumes cost a fortune compared to the purchasing power. I remember from my childhood during the 80s and early 90s, teenagers and young adults used to perfume themselves with Malizia Uomo Vétiver, and it smelled really good, lasted long, and had a good sillage . It wasn't the eau de toilette, but the deodorant because it was cheaper. I can assure you that just the deodorant lasted better than many current eau de toilettes or eau de parfum. I currently have the eau de toilette, and I find that it smells less good than the old deodorant, but maybe it's just nostalgia. However, I'm sure the performance of the deodorant was better than the current eau de toilette

its a beginers scent Barbershop style a manly fresh scent that ouzes confidence I like nutmeg, I used to call it vetiver, as it's written, haha. Because of this misconception, I collected various vetiver perfumes for years, searching for something similar to Malizia of better quality, NO..not even close,big diference ,I always lost. its a beginers scent so they dont recognize notes thinking vetiver cause its written while its really nutmeg. Smell the nutmeg beans , but don't taste it, you'll know its in Malizia. I did. If you love Malizia, your next step is Dunhill Edition ,its intense version of Malizia, Hurry before it's discontinued

A superior drugstore scent that smells and performs better than many fragrances in its genre that cost 3 or 4 times its price. For example, I much prefer this to the overrated Guerlain Vetiver...yes you read that correctly. Despite the paltry ingredient(s) listed on this site (just vetiver), I'm sure there's much more substance to this fragrance, including lemon and a generous dose of black pepper that make it smell clean & crisp and somewhat sophisticated. SUMMARY: Definitely in the cheap and cheerful category, and with its remarkably low price, it simply screams to be included in anyone's collection.

I have been a loyal Malizia Uomo fan for years, and this is one of my favorite Vetiver fragrances. At any price. The scent is a light and airy Vetiver and is so easy to like, and even easier to wear. I see comments here that the fragrance is not long lasting. At least for me, it lasts a solid 6 hours on my skin, and even longer on my shirt. I cannot recommend this highly enough. It’s a very easy blind buy, and I suspect the vast majority of fragrance enthusiasts would be thrilled once they get their nose on Malizia Uomo, especially considering the value and price.

Some people have a clear aversion towards the cheap fragrances. I would rather say that being robbed by some brands makes me feel even worse. With Malizia Uomo Vetyver you are getting what you are paying for a relatively good quality, no fairy dust, just a simple vetiver without any second guesses. I like this type of fragrances and have quite few of them, very often they get more attention than a very expensive brands. I personally would recommend it to anyone who likes the vetiver fragrances.

Just buy it! Picked this up for $15 and I love it. Nice simple vetiver, yet so elegant. Earthy but bright, fresh with a surprisingly nuanced spiciness. The longevity is better than would be expected for the price point, I usually get 5-6 hours on a hot summer day. Vetyver is an easy reach for me, often over Encre Noir, when I want something fresh and straight-forward. Considering just how cheap this is it's hard not to reccomend it to anyone with even a passing interest in vetiver scents.

Ehehe ... what a time ... I was in the army in 2001 when one of my comrades-in-arms was making a fuss in the barracks when he took the Malizia spray out of the padlocked suitcase. Since then I know it, I have used it and I admit that I love it even now. As simple as it is in its composition it smells so beautiful. Its bad luck is that it was too cheap in price and became very popular ... otherwise it may have another fate.

If you like your vetiver dry and smoky then this is a must buy for you. It may be vetiver on a budget, but in terms of longevity and silage it can put a lot of scents four or five times its price to shame. Don't let the price or the rather cheap looking bottle put you off either, as what you do get is a quality scent which can stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the better known vetivers from the big fragrance houses.

My bottle of Malizia Uomo Vetyver Profumo D'Intesa EDT 50 ml does have brief longevity. But while it lasts it is quite superb. I prefer it to my reformulated and much more expensive Guerlain Vetiver EDT, which also has low longevity. For the cost of a mere AU$15.00 for a 50 ml bottle of evanescent bliss, Malizia Uomo Vetyver EDT warrants a genuine 10/10.

oh yeeeees! this is a hidden vetiver-gem alright! at first spray I got a slight dentist-resembling (!) but as the perfumes settled, it continued to pour out nice whifs of v-magic(TM) as the hours went by. much more pronounced than Guerlain's Vetiver even! highly recommended for any vetiver-lover!

This cheapie is the best linear vetiver to layer with soft, floral or citrusy frags with longevity issues you wish lasted longer. (My fav combination to date is this frag with D&G K edt. Incredible.)

Bought and started to wear it last spring. Feels genderless to me. Strangely from time to time i get traces of cabotine edt. Perfect for hot days if you don't like candyfloss and love green scents.

I finally got Dunhill Edition and I'm satisfied with the density. Nutmeg note is malizia's secret. I didn't know until had nutmeg beans and Dunhill Edition. It's a Barbershop edt

Found this at Italian Centre Shop. I really like it. I put it over Serge Lutiens Arabie. It's inexpensive. Doesn't last very long but most don't last long on me anyway.

I got Dunhill Edition as a gift from my sister when I turned 16. It was my first real perfume. I recall meeting a girl in a strip club and she guessed I was wearing Malizia...It was a good guess since I had never smelled it and ended up picking up a bottle many years later because It smelled like D E. Classic Italian Lemony fresh man scent. It has an earthiness and a cleanliness to it. I agree that all notes are not listed here . There's a lavender clean note. The Vetyver is haylike sweetness . This is a very nice blend to my tastes. I am totally biased on this one having used Dunhill from age 18 to early 30's exclusively. This bottle is very old and honestly I used it once or twice before today. I still have some Dunhill left... Ok so this goes anywhere at any time. Not a life changer but a really nice scent if it's your kind of thing. Not crazy dark vetyver like encre noir...not even ballpark to any of the lalique series. It's slightly spicy and woody but barbershop fresh leaning to cologne territory than aftershave. The fact that you can still get this is a testament to the longevity and following of the scent. I've held off buying another Dunhill until I get through this. I'm not sure that day will come but I sure hope it does...lol For me this scent reminds me of youth. All the metal shows at the Montreal Forum. Crusing the strip with my buddies and clubbing heavily. As soon as I spray this on I feel like I'm going out and hang out in downtown Montreal or heading to NDG to pick up my buddies. That's the power of nostaligia in a scent. It's the reason some of us really enjoy fragrances. They do more than make us smell nice. They can be a window into your past and the people you knew back then. I like this scent. It can be refined well dressed or shorts and a T shirt. It can go for Supper or any occasion and still punch above it's price ratio. I used to get Dunhill for 75$ 100ml. This can be 25$ to be an almost perfect clone. I would say Dunhill has more of an incense note and projects better. All in all a very useable non generic scent.

Simply put: this is one of the great values available in men's fragrances. The scent is awesome: truly an excellent vetiver EdT, it equals or surpasses many high-end, name brand vetiver fragrances costing five times as much. While the only note identified on this site's perfume pyramid is vetiver, I detected additional notes: a light lemon top-note, and then the lightest hint of pepper on drydown. But of course this one is all about the vetiver, and Malizia Uomo Vetyver completely nails that note! It is the only vetiver fragrance that my wife has truly liked: she is enthusiastic about Malizia but ho-hum regarding both the Guerlain and Tom Ford versions. I have to admit that this smells like an expensive product made with quality, natural ingredients. With Mirato's Malizia Uomo Vetyver, it seems that the company decided to spend their money on the ingredients rather than an expensive bottle or costly advertising campaign. Money well-spent on their part. Given the affordable price for this lovely scent, I feel like my money was well-spent too. So what's the downside? The sillage-longevity combo is poor. I have found that it's preferable to spray this onto my shirt to get more than three hours out of this. It does linger as a lovely skin-scent, but this scent doesn't last with any projection for more than two or three hours. Scent: 10/10 Sillage: 7/10 Longevity: 6/10 Overall: strongly recommended at its price-point. Lovely scent, great value-for-money. Affordable enough to re-apply in order to overcome the longevity issue.

Back then Malizia's vibrant deodorant was my signature scent for those thrilling days. Nonetheless, this fragrance stands on its own as a masterpiece—except for one critical caveat curbing its potential. Initially one appreciates the synthetic yet sublime citrus top notes, continuing Italy's knack for perfecting vibrant citric accords. What follows is a fresh, modern herbal heart with vetiver shimmering through, though likely blended with other roots for this contemporary effect. Truly it could be a niche luxury scent with its well-done melding of natural quality and current trends. The dry down persists from morning to night, tender green roots lingering close to the skin. And yet the sillage remains faint as a wisp, requiring an extremely heavy hand. Hence despite artistic perfection, mediocre performance relegates this to a glove box as a discount afterthought. What might have been a legend is now resigned to drugstore shelves. If only they amped up the projection and trail, this could rival the greats as a contemporary classic. For now, we have but a whisper of what might have been. Still, for personal wear its craftmanship perfumes the skin with memories as green hills stretching under summer skies. If only it reached beyond the wearer to share its magic. A masterpiece presented, yet thoroughly missed opportunity.

I got this yesterday, for €2.90 from a branch of Acqua e Sapone near Rome. I also picked up the aftershave splash for €1.80 😆 The reviews are overall accurate; it's a light, green Vetiver that starts off lemony and ends up a bit smokey. Projection is soft. It seems to last on clothing, but it's too early for me to really say. During the first 10 minutes I found myself agreeing with those who've said it doesn't even smell like Vetiver, but as it dried down it did; just a simplified, rooty but clean Vetiver. It is nothing like TF Grey Vetiver or Guerlain, in my opinion. I see it as more of a nice shaving product, or a drugstore classic frag. Very nice. EDIT: I underestimated this a bit, on initial impression. Yes it's monotone, but it has a lovely smooth quality -almost vanillic or nutty, beneath the clean, citric vetiver. It feels like an incognito scent; quite discrete but something to be taken seriously, by those who are close enough to detect it. Austere, off-white, sophisticated.

One of the biggest bangs for your buck.you can get this on a good day you can get this for under 10$ before shipping for either a 50ml or 100ml depending on the place. It's a simple grassy (vetyver) scent that is clean, aromatic and a touch sweet. Very easy to wear, a must have first scent if you don't want to break the bank or your piggy bank saving up your allowance money in high school but even as I get older I still continue to buy bottles of it. Almost anyone can pull this scent off. Longevity is far better than you'd expect from a $10 - $12 fragrance. Even a much more recent bottle the longevity is ok. Not 10+ hours and beast mode unless you cracked the bottle and poured it on you like cold water on a hot day but still it's ok to grab a few things at the store or that sort of thing. it doesn't smell a thing like fresh cut grass so don't worry about that Luckily this scent is everywhere. Flea markets to discount perfume shops and of course just about every website.

I'm getting excited about this one. Just received it a few days ago, and I did not like it much at first. The first spray smelled minty and weird. The next day it was only slightly better. Almost gave up on it, but today I sprayed it on my wrist and it smells incredible, and surprisingly high quality. This might be exactly what I was hoping it would be. I think I tend to like vetiver because it's not a smell that I get tired of easily. It's usually light and fresh and earthy, which is nice when you don't want a heavy or very specific type of scent. Will update soon. Update: Wore this out running errands. The performance is pretty terrible as most have said. Also the scent seems a little incomplete on its own, maybe better for layering (if you're into that). But this is my first smokey vetiver fragrance, so that's cool. Overall it smells really nice, but I probably won't wear it much due to performance and lack of complexity.

This is the kind of vetiver that smells amazing but sadly it lasts 10 minutes. It's so crisp, clean, fresh and invigorating... like taking a deep breathe of fresh mountain air while standing on the shore of a whitewater riverbank on a Spring day in late May... just when Vetiver and other greenish plants and trees start blooming. However, it's a fricken shame because it just doesn't last. If only they could make it last longer it'd be Spring Heaven in a bottle! No BS! One solution is I carry a small atomizer with me filled with Malazia Uomo Vetyver and apply 1-2 spays every hour or so just to enjoy that wonderful fresh, crisp vibe of the first warm days of Spring after a long cold winter trapped indoors. If you are a fraghead that grew up in New England, then you know exactly the scent I'm talking about. Oh yes, those first warm days in late April to early May. Ahh that vibe is pure magic.

Fresh lemon-y opening, that will quickly morphs into a pine and fir balsam combo. The drydown is all about a nutty vetiver, with a tobacco-ish moss and leathery undertones. I can see the similarities with Dunhill Edition - that's a compliment - but not with Guerlain Vetiver (not even remotely). Ok, it's a bit thin, projection is low and it doesn't reinvent the style... But hey, it's still a well done classic man's fragrance that will do a great job as an aftershave/aftershower EDC! At just $5 a pop, it's a winner in my book, and still a better value than many EDCs out there (4711 to cite just one). Warmer days, 30+ By the way: the website now only lists the deodorant, so the EDT might have been discontinued.

Malizia Uomo Vetyver Is a very likeable masculine green scent. It is a woody, herbal vetiver that has some slight floral qualities to it. It has a very classic masculine feel about it. The fragrance lasts a good 5 or 6 hours on my skin with arm length projection. A very decent scent with good performance and at this price point it is great value for money. I think it is a very versatile scent and could be a reasonable signature scent. I feel this scent can be worn casually or when one is more dressed up. A solid 4/5 for me, Malizia Uomo Vetyver fits well in my collection.

Thanks for adding this to the database! This is a great, great, simple vetiver! For a cheap drugstore product the smell and the longevity are absolutely amazing. It smells natural and truly vetiverish - ideal for summer time. It lacks the power and sophistication of Guerlain Vetiver for sure, but for an inexpensive vetiver you can't go wrong with Malizia. Highly recommended as something unpretentious for everyone with a "vetiver tooth". Women can pull it off easily, if they are into such fragrances.

This is the scentproof that sometimes a relatively cheap fragrance can make you feel good. It's the case with Malizia Uomo Vetyver. Good for the summer - or hot weather, anyway. As I adore Guerlain's Vetiver, I must say that MUV isn't - for sure - the same thing. Nothing compares to G's V. MUV is simplier, of course - and a bit sweeter. But it smells good. Try the eau de toilette plus the deostick - and, if you love vetiver, you will be pleasantly surprised. A deserved 7,6/10.

This is way better than it deserves to be at its price point. It's somewhere between Pino Silvestre, a vetiver and Quorum. It starts off forest fresh and pine fragrant, with the distinctive vetiver note coming through clearly with a slightly sour, scuzzy, dark ending that reminds me of Quorum. Longevity and sillage are respectable but not supercharged. Well worth a punt as a blind buy.

Simple, clean, fresh vetiver. The fun part is you have to reapply it every now and then and I say that in a good way since it smells basic and yet nice. Best to use as after shower cologne. “Let us spread the scents of peace and kindness. Malazia Uomo is not really a fragrance to wear out. It's more of a freshener spray after a cold shower especially on a hot summer evening. Tip: Put the bottle in the fridge overnight (not freezer) and apply after your morning shower on a summer day. Very crisp, fresh and clean smell for 1-2 hours. Not long lasting but perfect for what it is

Malizia Uomo Vetyver.... I own the aftershave and the cologne and what surprised me so far is the fact that the aftershave is almost more potent than the EdT. Who would have thought..... The scent is a beautiful light, green, grassy and airy vetiver. Perfect after the shower or as a pick me up scent for in between....

Reminds me of high school as every Italian kid smelled like it. Stunk up the hallways but I wasn’t mad. Invicta school bags and malitzia uomo was the signature of st basils the great college. Get this to freshen your Honda Civic and your gym bag. Anything more than that and I would question your decision

Malizia Vetyver is the cheapest vetiver fragrance in the world, but in no way the cheap smell. Very masculine, fresh and excellent. I'm using deodorant version and I can detect it around me for at least 6 hours. Splash aftershave smells more like mint, can't find EDT anywhere in my country.

I am a woman and I really like wearing it. I discovered it by accident, as I was trying out some supermarket scents. I was surprised by its longevity. I can smell it on me even after 5 hours. Fresh and earthy, appropriate for summer wear and for the gym. It is very inexpensive.

A deliciously dry, crisp, vetiver. Couple this with the even less expensive aftershave and you have pure vetiver heaven! Does it last forever? Well, no. But on a hot summer's day, for which this is perfect, what does?

Extremely affordable. Smells very nice and clean - somewhat similar to Tom Ford Gray Vetiver. When you think about the price, this is a great one. Completely blind-buy safe.

This is a manly old school scent that ouzes confidence. Not a crowd pleaser, but I wear it for myself. My girlfriend said it smells like wet dog... Women ☕
