Aoud Violet

Wow! It's an interesting fragrance. You have smelled something similar to this, but at the same time you are fascinated by it. There is nothing odd about it, but it doesn't either trying to impress mass crowd as ysl or armani or other designers trying to do. This fragrances is so fell blended and always involving. Very high end scent with a strong niche profile, maybe because of those floral - green notes. And no, it's not an oud fragrance. However you can tell there is something "oudy" going on here together with those green notes. That makes it more masculine than unisex/feminine. You can use this probably in any season and any time of the day. I choosing to wear this to more upscale occasions on day time. Date and office safe. This floral - green - oudy profile gives me a gentleman/mature wibe. Therefore this is probably for someone in their late 20th and up. If you are used to blue or sweet designer fragrances you might dislike this scent and call it too mature or a bit grandma style. Because of supreme quality this fragrances has very good performance and a good projection. I would say 5-8 hours with good projection and 10-12 hours on skin. Overall a great release from Mancera! It's not a must buy at all if you have 30+ niche fragrances in your collection. Sample if you can before, specially for women. Great start to get in niche parfumes.

I'm a huge Mancera fan and added Aoud Violet to the cart when it was deeply discounted. I wasn't expecting much and could give it to one of my daughters since wasn't really my scent genre but, quite surprisingly, I really like this one. In a nutshell, I get a screaming powdery violet wrapped in a blanket of Mancera Wind Wood with some hints of Kumkat Wood. It's doesn't sounds that great, but Aoud Violet has a really smooth, elegant feel to it...just like perfectly aged bourbon. Moreover, it performs extremely well; lasts 10-12 or more hours on my skin and projects well above average. Although Aoud Violet is listed as being a women's fragrance, I find that it is unisex. However, the problem is that violet-powdery accord may put off a lot of men, and some of the ladies may find that Wind Wood/Kumkat Wood base may be a little too masculine for their tastes. In the end, I really like this fragrance...but it misses the mark and I find that I can only wear it while sitting around the house because I have so many other fragrance options.

Mancera is crushing the fragrance game right now. Here is another fantastic DNA from start to finish! Opening is fresh with bergamot and green notes. I don’t find this as fresh as Wind Wood, but still a nice opening. As it dries down, the violet really comes to the forefront and is the main player for duration. Like Wind Wood, this is violet done extremely well. Ultimately, the base notes add support and depth to the violet, making this a wonderful fragrance for its insanely long duration. Mancera kills the longevity game. Fragrantica definitely has this mislabeled. My sample came in the “men’s sample pack”. If anything, this is unisex...but definitely leans more masculine. I enjoy Wind Wood more, and own that one already. I will have to do a side-by-side and update this review to see if warrants a separate purchase. UPDATE - although both this and Wind Wood can be worn all year, WW is more appropriate for Summer and AV is better for Winter. They are different, yet redundant.

I really don't get the Intense cafe comparison? This was the first Mancera I tried and and it's a new one. I was interested how violets and oud would compliment each other and if indeed it would smell like either. To be honest the violet note is not typical, instead quite strong and unnatural in this setting. The opening is a strong sharp mixture of citruses, oakmoss and musk which settles to a base of oud and violets. This fragrance on me smelled good and I have to say...I really liked it, despite what might be perceived as a negative or at least luke warm review. This is because I don't know what to think about Violet Oud? I've not smelled this combination of notes before and for that I suppose it's unique and certainly not what I expected. The longevity is huge and projects for the first couple of hours very well. I'm not sure I could wear it as I feel I might tire of it easily...not sure? another testing is required I think?

First sniff immediately made me think of the 90's, probably because many people wore scents like Fahrenheit and Platinum Egoiste, and this has somewhat of a similar vibe but with a dominant spicy watery violet accord from opening through mid, which slowly calms down and gets powdery. The base is moss and vetiver heavy with a touch of a Prada l'homme-esque powdery sweetness, leaving you with a clean gentlemanly drydown. This is a year round signature scent with good performance, but you've got to like violet or at least tolerate it for 45 minutes or so. I think it's Mancera's take on a 90's scent, and I really love it. It's beautiful in the air, I caught a few whiffs while wearing it and gave myself a compliment lol. It's underrated for sure. Edit: just tried Wind Wood, pretty much the same scent but this is more powdery when it dries. If you have one you don't need the other (unless you like the DNA and want a backup).

Another one that blowed me away. Instantly reminded me of some designer brands but it did not bore me. But you can smell the quality here and much smooooother. Nothing punching. All notes are rounded. Beautiful one. This is much versatile than cedrat boise. This is somehow sporty. Like chanel would make. I easily get bored with perfumes but this one is like showing what those wanna-be-perfume should be. Smells like a handsome young man but not a douche. He is gentle and contented with what he has. Out of all the 12 mancera samples. This is the only one i'm considering a full bottle because its versatile, high quality and a compliment getter for sure, but not boring. Something like creed or pdm would release. Classic french style of perfumery. Smells like a guerlain or houbigant. Ok hold on. This dries down 90% similar to prada l'homme. I think I loved prada l'homme because of the violets not the iris.

It really is more unisex/masculine in the first hours. However, its longevity is great. I sprayed the back of my hand around noon. I cooked and obviously washed my hands a few times since then. Now it is in its 11th hour and still not close to a skin scent. After about 6 to 7 hours it shifted more toward a unisex/feminine scent, smooth, comforting, even a bit sweet. I do like men's scents but worried about that it might be a bit too much wearing out. I think for women it may be a good idea to let it dry down quite a bit, or maybe layer it with another violet scent.

Before I bought this, I read it described as “masculine, woody floral, clean-out-of-the-shower” and I couldn’t imagine that until I actually smelled it. To me, it opens with a lot of violet, but not like a pot of violets in your nan’s living room - more like a field of fresh violets on a cool, dewey morning. It’s floral, but it’s also earthy and deep, and gives the feeling of a cool, damp morning or (honestly) being super clean, right out of the shower when you start to cool off. I understand this one might not be for everyone, but I absolutely love it!

I received a sample of this with another order, and finally decided to try it. This is very far from the sort of fragrance I normally wear, and I was surprised by how much I like it. The violet is very sharp and green in the opening, not the overly sweet powdery type I avoid. The spices are there but stay in the background and the oud patchouli middle notes are lovely, as is the vetiver/oakmoss base. It stays green all the way through, a very big plus for me. Longevity and sillage are both excellent - one spray on my wrist lasted the entire day.

Great smell, moderate performance. Batch produced in 2022. Contrary to most, I don't get any bergamot, nor do I get any recognizable vetiver. Unless it's like an extremely clean vetiver that is hardly recognizable as such that just smells green. I mainly get violets actually, unlike most, straight from the start, again unlike others who get lots of citrus first. For the rest I get some fresh and slightly soapy green aroma. It's classy and non-offensive, completely unisex. There isn't even a trace of (fake) oud in this. It's just not there.

This is not a womans perfume, its really masculine. I blind bought it because i got a really good deal 40$ for 120ml just testet, so i couldnt say no. But i had low expectations. But its a really good and mass appealing scent. Smells really fresh and masculine . I now have 7 manceras in my collection and this is now top 2. I feel like u can pull this off whenever, winter/summer. Scent : 9/10 beautiful , mass appealing Longevity: 12-14 hours on skin on me Sillage : moderate + / strong Good for blind buying i would say

just got my bottle that i blind bought. on first spray it almost smells like the generic scent of many designer perfumes that i have sniffed. but after a few minutes and it starts to go into the middle phase BOOOM the magic happens, it turns into that nice violet floral, smells very clean and is a young man in his late 20s who is full of confidence. nice aroma, nice projection and sillage, beast longevity even for me who lives in a tropical country. really a great addition to my small collection.

I really like this one. I received an old batch of this perfume (about 5 years since it was made), and right away I smell the vetiver / moss. Shortly after the opening the violet note comes in and mixes into this beautiful forest-like scent full of pine trees. Im not sure if the age of this fragrance makes it smell different from other reviewers here but overall, I’d say this is a good mass appealing fragrance. Good sillage, not like red tobacco. Good longevity around 6-7 hours.

First of all, I love violet but almost never wore it as a fragrance (except from GIT). I love violet candies (South of France) and sniffing this Aoud Violet made me smile right from the begining. It's now been 8h and it is still going strong, yet very polite. I definitely get some GIT resemblances in the opening, but when it settles it goes more to the soapy way, and I like it. I find it very wearable and non-agressive. Overall a very nice discovery, 8,5/10!

A marvelous 'Fresh' semi-sweet blast of Violet, Vetiver, exotic spices, Lime and Mancera's oft polarizing Aoud note is lightly supporting in the background. Very sophisticated yet modern, classy and SUPER smooth as high quality violet tends to be. Superb longevity. The Best Mancera I've tried...and that's saying a lot because I've tried many and own a few. They are a great house. This one is a 10/10 imho. Do yourself a favor and try this.

I like this scent it is a soft, soapy clean, woody, powdery, scent there is citrus. It is a spring summer scent casual or formal maybe you can still use it part of autumn. It’s very different from the other manceras I have and it’s unisex but it leans more masculine in my opinion. There is a note that makes me like it very much, it is not a youthful scent it is a more older adult scent. It was a blind buy and I don’t regret it a bit.

So glad I got this. Smells of a Eastern European forest or any forest for that matter after a good rain. The violet is the main character and it will stay until its no more, which again like most Mancera is awhile.Its a very fresh and clean smell. I wear horror movie shirts, but I will rock this. It is a bit strong at first but it's not intoxicating. I got the screw cap. You can definitely find this at a good price. 9/10

This is fantastic! Manly fresh violet with enough character to make this all occasion appropriate. I can imagine this being a signature scent. Honestly, my man uses Fahrenheit as signature everyday scent and I've been bending backwards to find some replacement, because I hate it. This is exactly what I needed! They're very similar but this one has way more character and I find it incredibly sexy!

Even though it leans masculine this is one of my favorite perfumes to wear, especially on very hot and humid summer days when I just want to spray something that feels like a cold splash. It reminds me of the unisex fragrances of the late 90’s because it’s so versatile and wearable, in my opinion. I normally don’t like vetiver but it really does contribute something special to this perfume.

Gentlemen do not fear the violet! Make no mistake the violet is center stage but it's rounded off rather nicely by its woody elements. More masculine in my opinion but a woman can pull it off. Longevity and performance is definitely there. Not obnoxious but you will project so go easy on the trigger for office use.

In my top 10 for mancera, but you have to like violet. Violet, slighlty powdery, creamy with good longevity and if you dont overspray it leaves an intriguing scent trail. Thumbs up for me. This is marketed for women, but I think it's unisex with a slight masculine lean, similar to Wind wood and bentley black.

It says this is for women but yet it definitely leans masculine. I get violet and some woods with some oud in the background. Fantastic performer like all manceras. 8.5/10. Some reviews have stated there is little violet but for me that's almost all I can smell along with some woods and oud in the background.

This Frag is under reviewed and under rated by those who have tried or had it. More people need to give it a chance. I have had it for 4 years now and am on my second bottle. Such a diamond in the rough honestly. The Longevity and Sillage are both incredible.

Learned about this bottle of a reviewer online. A great bottle. Very unisex and seems more on the male side. Love it and will wear it at work. Definitely, a beautiful concoction that violet really shines forward with the Oud.

Very similar to wind wood. I bought wind wood first and was going to get a backup bottle until this arrived. It is similar enough that I won’t be getting a second bottle of wind wood as these two should last a long time

That is a very good masculine Mancera which is at last not oud. Nothing old school despite the old school notes. Very modern, masculine, refreshing, unique.

One of my favorite from Mancera.

Start by saying that this fragrance is very badly labeled, at all it is a feminine perfume and the page puts it as such, when most Mancera and niches are generally unisex each chooses what to use and that you like, but above tastes and Personal Appreciations (and although it has Violet in its name) This is not a floral composition and much less powdery, here there are no ionones (those that I also love) this is a perfume of violet leaves with its classic bitter freshness, which does not approach that Fahrenheit "Gasoline Tone" but that go on the line of Givenchy's Only the Gentlemen and although they do not look like similar it runs on the same vibe of Chanel Egoiste Platinum. Aoud Violet has a fresh opening where the violet leaves shine with its usual bitterness reinforced by the oak moss, and with the freshness of vetiver and a green notes that with the evolution of the fragrance are sweetening towards his drydown, part of this sweetness is by having an amber and patchouli touch in the background the latter very measured, the note of oud that declares does not feel animal nor balsamic, in fact not very present; It is a slightly woody touch in the background, there are also specied notes but are well integrated and are not very obvious perhaps a fresh touch of cinnamon (at all sweet) can be appreciated among all this. Performance is quite good for the profile of the fragrance, but it does not become a beasts like many of the house although it lasts perfectly 8 hours with a remarkable projection during the first two.

Interesting fragrance. Owned this one quite a while before I decided to give it to my father (as I thought it is masculine...) After I visited my father again he said that he must return it to me because it is FEMININE. The drydown is too feminine. Too much flowers (which he does not like in a perfume, just like a lot other men) So I took it back and gave it a chance again. Sprayed 2 times on my neck. Again heaaaavy masculinity all over the place (like a fresh shaved dude) I had to do my best to wait for the drydown because the fresh note is too strong a very long time. I do smell the nice Violet but it comes after a few hours. Somewhere I get that he finds this feminine but before you get there, you must survive the tsunami of fresh notes. I think it is a nice gym fragrance. Ps. I sprayed too close to my nose and it made me nauseous. Sometimes Mancera has too much of one note in it that punches and punches your face until you get sick of it. Do NOT spray anywhere near your nose. Spray it on your knees or your back, not on your arms or neck

Aoud Violet and Wind Wood are 90-95% the same. Its extremely redundant to own both. I sprayed WW on one wrist, AV on the other to compare. AV is slightly more violet, subtlely more powdery. I find WW has a fresher and more "cooling" effect. The base has an added leather and wood depth. AV plays more towards a floral musky resin base. It gives a slight medocinal "mothball" scent to me. Not strongly but my nose catches it. Despite being called Aoud Violet, the oud plays a stronger role in WW. I feel Aoud Violet is much more linear compared to Wind Wood. they bith have good sillage and longevity, although Wind Wood lasted longer for me Aoud Violet is definitelty unisex where WW leans more masculine. I love Wind Wood, its one of my alltime favorite scents, I could where Wind Wood everyday and be happy. Aoud Violet just falls flat for me. That 5-10% or so difference is such a massive gap in enjoyment for me. The drydown they really begin to drift in scent for me and wind wood just remains perfection.

Well, just blind bought this, after reading the good reviews and the perception of: you cannot go wrong with Mancera. Bought this because of the huge discount. Yeah... this is a masculine scent. Don't get the woman nor unisex section. This is very masculine! Im glad I have a guy, because the smell is quite ok actually, casual, office friendly. I get a lot of green notes and moss. Just a tiny tiny bit of violet that comes in only 2 hour after of wearing. But its very clear that the moss and green notes dominate the whole thing. Its very fresh, sprankly and is more a spring/summer scent. Imo not very special concerning the smell, but the longevity is BEAST. Very, very good quality perfume. I prefer buying the Mancera version if you have the choice between designer and niche.. It reminds me of Kiton somehow, but more expensive and chique feeling. Definitely masculine! Go get it guys, can't go wrong on this one.

My summer oud scent and one I have repurchased many times and will continue to do so. Many reviewers have stated this is a masculine scent - I’m as feminine as they come and I rock this :D As an oud lover, this is the freshest oud scent that one can get away with in the heat without it being too cloying or sickly. Maybe the hot weather and my skin chemistry does something - I strictly never wear this in cooler weather as it is just not the same. On the point of the oud, another reviewer summed it up perfectly as the “oud playing hide and seek”. It is not obvious and the subtlety of the oud coming through makes this a very special juice.

To me, this feels like a more feminine version of Mercedes-Benz Le Parfum (another absolute must-have for violet lovers!). It’s a fairly linear violet fragrance with a clean, floral-soapy vibe. The overall scent is very soft; the sweet, powdery nuance from its violet reminds me a bit of Ganymede. Wearing it feels like being enveloped in a violet mist. If you want to give it a more masculine edge, try layering it with Mercedes-Benz Le Parfum. This combination tones down the sweet powderiness of Aoud Violet while beautifully amplifying the core violet note. Enjoy!! (As for the 'Aoud' part... well, I only found it on the label.)

Similar to Wind Wood in the opening, the sharp citrus and violet come through in the same way, just lighter. It almost feels like “Wind Wood Aqua”, or “Wind Wood Eau Fraiche”, something of that nature. In the dry down it changes direction and becomes much more powdery, the violet backs off and the moss and soapy vetiver come forward. If Wind Wood is the masculine Fall/Winter, heavier violet scent, then this is the fresher, lighter unisex summer version. Smells great. Definitely hangs out a long while, but doesn’t push or project. It’s a close scent bubble, which is appreciated in the high heat.

When I first time wore this fragrance, I got nostalgic feeling 😌. Imagine a village, you wake up and went to the garden, it's early dawn, there's still dew on the grass. Freshness of this moments captured in this scent. My third blind buy from Mancera. It is fresh, earth, green, floral and masculine scent. Good projection and longevity. Year around, formal and casual, very versatile. Also i will add this on is mature. Since I am 30+, this was a successful buy. 8/10

I hate the opening. It has a very harsh and too much of a colony opening like a aftershave or smth. However, it has one of the most beautiful dry down that’s a sweet, delicate and powdery violet. My husband owns it and almost every time he sprays it, I ask him what he put on cause it is awful and in the evening when I catch a smell of it I ask him what he is wearing cause it’s incredibly beautiful and I can’t get enough of it!

I really want to like this. Heck, during the opening, I love it! It's green, fresh, and very potent; the latter is obviously not a surprise, this being a Mancera and all. It fills the room with a classy aroma. Definitely not a solely feminine scent. The drydown smells like... bug spray. That's what it reminds me of. Expensive bug spray. Maybe other people like it, but I just can't wear it for myself. I much prefer Wind Wood.

I really don't understand the hate on this one, ok it is a scent that we smelled before and it is designer"ish" but it is very clean, soapy, versatile scent for classy men. It is very elevated in its scent profile and with very good performance. It has a market and a scent many will appreciate. I personally like it a lot, not the most unique but gets the job done. Stop being a snob.

It does smell very similar to Wind Wood minus the cedar note. Like a Pour Femme version of Wind Wood (can be worn by men too tho). Very nice and long lasting as well, projection is above average.

It should also be noted that the quality of the bottle and vaporizer is very good compared to the designers.... it brought the most compliments in office, as soon as they entered the room

I just got Elysium by Roja today and can't keep thinking about Aoud Violet. The drydowns have in common a nice and soft vetiver and the oak moss. Is anybody seeing similarities?

Opens up extremely sharp with the bergamot. Not enjoyable at all for the first 5 minutes. Then it smoothes out (it is not a smooth fragrance) but I get very little violet on my skin. I can detect it, but it's drowned in other notes to the point I would never be able to say this fragrance has violet in its name. On my skin and to my nose this is a very manly fragrance that kind of smells old school with the moss and vetiver. Mancera did a wonderful violet in Choco Violet which made me splurge for a full bottle. This ain't it for me sadly. On its own this is a solid fragrance for spring/summer, but I feel cheated by the fact it's called Aoud Violet. If it was called Mossy Vetiver then I'd like it better, I expected a woody violet bomb.

easy, clean, not load, safe and long lasting office friendly violet base scent.

After a terrifyingly ozonic, almost mentholated opening 20 seconds or so, Aoud Violet settles quite nicely into a surprisingly old-school chypre. A truly bizarre combination of notes, somehow this just manages to pull itself together into a cohesive whole. Once the opening moments have burned off, what you're left with is a loud, linear, unique, yet somehow classical vibe. Heavy oakmoss and dry, non-descript spices hum away relentlessly. A gentle, rooty, vetiver peaks through the background. The middle is dominated by a lovely, green violet paired with a dry oud, hinting at the waxy, cosmetic accord found in a lot of old-school chypres. If you find a lot of chypres too stuffy and 'lipsticky' for you, then this might be a good buy. It has all the classic beauty of a stern, austere chypre, with a heavy dose of green, shimmering violet notes to freshen it into something entirely modern. Dry, stern, and heavy but with a fresh, cold heart Aoud Violet is unforgiving but ultimately quite wearable. Projection is typical Mancera/Montale style heavy. Longevity is nuclear. Unisex in the same vein as a lot of 40's and 50's chypres. Enjoy on brisk evenings with hot food and strong wine.

I got a sample of Aoud Violet because I liked Givenchy Gentlemen Only, and many people said they were similar. Well, that was not my experience at all. Whereas I find Gentlemen Only to be a woody and smoky scent with a mild violet note, to me Aoud Violet is a strong, perfumy violet and grassy scent with no woody notes that I can detect. I find it heavily floral and feminine, though I see I'm in the minority here--most of the votes say it's unisex/masculine.

Such an odd fragrance. Nothing as expected. Was hoping for a violet forward (like fahrenheit) and green frag but it's a soft, very powdery and bergamot forward almost like Prada l'homme Should definitely be renamed to Aoud Bergamot and completely unisex. Definitely good for office/work but nothing particularly special or that stands out 6/10 for scent ?/10 for longevity (still testing) 3/10 projection; you need to be very close great for office

I am not sure why Fragrantica have classified this as "for women" because Mancera themselves describe this as unisex. To my nose, it smells like mens supermarket body spray and would be hideous on a woman. It almost smells like Jovan Black Musk to me. This is an oakmoss-heavy powerhouse of a scent which I actually didn't enjoy and had to mix it with sweeter EDPs to make it palatable. Heavy chemical astringent violet burner!!

unfortunately what im realizing is all violet scents ive tried smell so dirty on my skin. still, i think this is a MUST TRY. would be beautiful for someone that has the right skin chemistry.

Really enjoy most of the Mancera, but this one churns my stomach. Reading all the positive reviews makes me wonder if my bottle is bad or somehow different. The combination of violet, vetiver, and mossy notes does come out but just in a weird way to my nose. Wonder if the bottle was left under hot weather during shipment and turned bad. It's about 85F degree today, I will try it during colder weather and see if makes a difference. update: after a couple of hours finally cannot stand it anymore and had to scrub it off. It's the first Mancera that is a scrubber for me. To compare, I have Givenchy Gentleman's Only and I love the take on violet of that one.
