Gold Aoud

Rose-Oud Blend with Leather & Jammy Marmalade... I liked this scent from the start, but I've come to appreciate it even more recently. It's just really well blended and versatile imho. This is an oud-rose blend that has a lighter weight, more citrus-y feel than most Mancera oud-rose blends. Having said that, there's a leather note, and a jamminess to the rose that leans to a more lighter marmalade than deeper berry. Opens with a burst of citrus-oud accented by saffron & black-pepper, and already you can feel the rose-oud blend swelling through. This all deepens into a rose-oud-patchouli heart rounded out with jasmine. Jasmine here is more forward than the notes would suggest, bringing some near-grape & floral nuances that continue the fruity-floral aspects. This all rests on a leather, white-musk, amber-vanilla & shades-of-wood base. I agree with reviewer AnnaMagenta below that this is a "socially acceptable oud fragrance". Overall this is a lighter jammy citrus take on an oud-rose blend, done Mancera style. This has excellent performance for year-round wear, although there is a lighter feel to it compared with many oud forward scents, and I'm more likely to wear this in spring through fall. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update 06/27/24: Testing this again today, it seems to have evolved, and the leather note is more forward than before. Smooth blend of oud, rose, leather, jam, woods, that after an hour or so starts to melt into an animalic honey-violet. Can't stop sniffing my wrist. Still a love.

I do I agree with others, best described as Mandarin Aoud...lovely scent, persistent in its presence (both the aoud and mandarin) and like its other "gold" brethren (gold Prestigium and gold Intensive Aoud) it has an addictive quality to it. Versatility is enough for all seasons, but I can see it really shining in the spring. This is another stunner from Mancera. 9/10 EDIT: This is hidden gem territory. Blind buy worthy in that it is unique, inoffensive, a compliment getter and addictive; the very traits of a BANGER. POST EDIT: Unpopular opinion, but Mancera/Montale are for the most part 🔥. Some are screechy sure, but by and large they deliver the goods! Love a lot of upper "echelon" house's, but these two's are consistently good. Don't let the bored and the snobbish say otherwise!

To me this is a underrated fragrance. It ́s so comforting and addictive. I agree that the Oud is not the king here, it fades away quickly , or better it remains but more on the background, but what you get is a wonderful floral scent with a solid ambery/woody base. I like it a lot, it ́s more "airy" than other oud based fragancies. Very good longevity and projection moderate (Great sillage too!). As i said it ́s comforting but also elegant and inviting expecially on the drydown. A very safe and versatile scent.!

I don’t like how it opens because it is like other Montales and Manceras of this kind which are inundated with saffron. Saffron doesn’t let me appreciate other notes and obscure the oud and leather notes. But once the saffron subsides, about 30-45 minutes after the opening, this perfume becomes so adorable and beautiful. It is so elegant, inviting, and glorious. The dry down is simply awesome.

Great introduction to oud. A beautiful scent profile in my opinion. Only costs 49 on scents angel for a 4oz. 8.5/10. The dry down of this smells similar to aoud line to me and also similar to gold intensitive aoud. This fragrance gives me freshie vibes. I think it could be pulled off in summer. This is also discontinued.

I've tried it 2ml sample, it's a bit rich, opened with citrussy spicy notes. After a few minute, floral notes, dark & deep smell will come to ur nose (I think it's rose & patchouli not a white floral). Citrussy, Floral, musky, sweet, dark, spicy, woody. Middle eastern type of Fragrance. Good for it grandpa. 7/10

Between gold intensitive, black intensitive and this gold aoud i think this is the best one. It has the most oud of the 3 and in my opinion it's the loudest. I haven't tried gold prestigium so I'm not sure how that compares.

My most complimented fragrance. Non offensive even if you overspray. Perfect for work and social engagements (not at a club). A sparkling fresh fragrance and at a great price point!

Very citrus-y oud. That's quite unusual in fragrances now days. It is kinda unique. Projection and performance, you know you don't have to worry about that with Mancera.

I fell in love with this scent..

I just blind bought this fragrance after finding it on sale for $49.99, which is an instant purchase for me when it comes to mancera. I just sprayed it so I’ll share my initial impressions. It has that familiar slightly sharp montale/mancera aoud note that is hard to palate for some people, however, that note is only prevalent when you sniff right on your skin. In the air, gold aoud is a soft and smooth rose dominant fragrance with jasmine at its side giving it an almost honeyed vibe. I’m not getting any citrus or much from the base right now, but the fragrance has been on my skin for only a couple minutes. I will edit this when I experience the Drydown/do a full wearing, but as an initial impression, this gets an 8.3/10. The rose smells smooth and sweet, while not being jammy, and there is an uplifting feeling to this perfume. The aoud note is a bit harsh, but this smells great in the air, so I can only assume this will continue to get better throughout the perfumes life (as a lot of other manceras do... many start synthetic/sharp and dry down beautifully). Really nice! Unisex, maybe leaning a tad bit feminine, but this is a good perfume that is completely under the radar. Nice! Edit; this is phenomenal. My girlfriend loves it, it’s beautifully sweet and smooth and floral and very very long lasting. It lasted through a wash on a shirt and was still very present. The sillage is pretty crazy, it will fill an entire room, but it’s very smooth (unlike the OG red tobacco). This one starts out citrus wood, and pretty quickly dries down to rose. It is a pleasant scent that I think is very unisex. Some of the reviews under me are all over the place, interesting how different skin and nose makes such different experiences. One reviewer said for teenage girls and another said good for grandpa's, that's a pretty big difference! I think it is for whomever likes it and I do like it, so I will wear it. I think Mancera fragrances change a lot from first spray and through the dry down, they are almost completely different perfumes. If that is something you would enjoy then I would recommend it.

This is hidden gem for for warm weather high heat , white t shirt and shorts or a button up and slacks day or night , this is perfectly unisex but slightly masculine leaning 60/40 this is a beautiful mens floral that a man can pull off and you can beat no one will be wearing the same scent. It literally smells like a powdery bar of soap on the dry down i dont detect any oud. Performance is great, you’ll get 10 hours plus depending on skin chemistry. Projection is moderate 3-4 hours..l this is a hidden. Gem! If you see available grab it! 8.5/10

#251 in my "Tour de Fragrance" This is a nice woody, slightly leathery and inoffensive fragrance with moderate longevity and sillage. Not the best Mancera I've tried, but a nice one nonetheless and perfect day wear for the morning commute if you car-pool or use mass transit, and fine in any office. The rose note works here without making the scent seem dated. It's likeable, and a compliment getter.

Somewhere between a 🙂 and a 😐. There’s a few gnarly Mancera frags baring the Aoud monicker, this isn’t one of them. Not the best but not the worst. Has a dry oud / citric overtone. Patchouli and rose in the mid ground. Not bad. Not great. Florals and spices in the undertone. That’s it. An acquired taste that most people probably won’t love. Does get better toward dry down as the intensity fades.

I own a full bottle of AOUD exclusif and I can say they smell similar. Both oriental rose ouds but this is a little more sour to me and Mancera has multiples of this scent profile but AOUD exclusif does it best in this house including performance power 🙏🏽 Stop by my TikTok for some fragrance content: nerolicannoli

Comfort oud made lightly effervescent with lightly spicy orange and balanced with a musky rose. Pleasant and easy to like, can we worn all year round, but I think it's a better fit in the warmer months. Nice projection, can definitely be smelt a little bit beyond arms' length. Nice Mancera offering.

it smells good, but why the opening smells like laundry detergent :( Trying to make sure that it isn't by over spraying it on my blanket, now my blanket smells like it is being soaked in the laundry detergent. The dry down however smells bit powdery rose-saffron-oud close to Aoud Lime from Montale.

Socially acceptable Oud fragrance. I feel like I’m done covering up my love to wooden notes with sweet and rose notes. But this would be a good less than mainstream but not over complicated perfume for office

It is nice at the beginning, after a few minutes its overwhelmed by rose and citrus notes , the oud disappears quickly

As Ombre Nomade user, i wanted a second oud perfume, but a little bit less loud and heavy. According to notes & reviews here on fragrantica I’ve blind bought a 60ml bottle. When I smelled the bottle before the application, my reaction was “Very nice, this is exactly what I wanted”. Reaction was the same right after the application. The opening is rich, oudy & citrusy. BUT.... right after 15 mins the oudy notes almost disappeared, and the fragrance became sweet and way too feminine for me. After 30 mins on my skin it became a typical “old lady fragrance”. I though that it only smells feminine to me, but then my girlfriend got into my car and the first thing she said was “You smell like my grandmother.” Fragrance is not bad at all, but I definitely wouldn’t call it unisex. God bless the e-shop return policies in my country, where you can return an opened perfume.

Disagree that this is a punch-in-your-face oud. It's actually super easy to like, soft, little bit musky, not loud or anything. Agree that this fragrance has been misnamed - it should've been called Mandarin Aoud, because that's what it really is. It's okay, lots of better offerings from Mancera out there.

Rose-y musky oud. I don't really smell that much citrus in this frag. The smell is also more feminine than I'd like, don't feel that its unisex at all. The performance is good though but I don't really like it at all, I had to wash it after 6 hours on my skin and even then its still going strong. Another reminder that I never really liked the smell of rose.

This one has certainly flown under the radar. It opens up with sweet mandarin orange and then gradually unfolds into a pleasant oud/rose. The jasmine plays a hand in this one in much the same way as it does in aoud lemon mint. I feel these are cousins to a degree as far as feel. Aoud lemon is creamy given the almonds(activated) and gold aoud has a creamy note of guaiac wood. I compared the notes between ALM and GA and there are ten overlapping notes. I think the biggest difference between the two are the rose vs the almond. I feel these particular notes are what make the two different. If you have ALM and also enjoy oud/rose combos this will be a winner for you. It does lean slightly feminine like a lot of Manceras. If you're cool with that pick it up.

I kind of get why they called this Gold Aoud. The opening hits you with this sparkling citrus and saffron. I was surprised by this one. As it develops the rose and oud come through but Gold Aoud feels very balanced and elegant. If you compare this to some of the Montale aouds then you would know what I'm talking about. This almost feels like a ''pretty aoud'' if that makes sense. The amber gives off this nice sweetness as well. Performance is good and the scent sticks nicely onto the skin. Could be year round just I wouldn't wear this in the high heat. Definitely unisex. 8/10

I blind bought Gold Aoud, but I wish I had tried a sample first. Lovely scent, but not masculine in any way. Very sweet rose for many hours without any of the other notes making much of an appearance to my nose. It's essentially Turkish Delight in a bottle. It really needs the Oud, the pepper and woody notes to be much much stronger to balance that strong rose. Thanks for reading.

Bizarre, really bizarre, since a part from the presence of white flowers (very recognisable orange blossoms in GP and jasmine in this one) they are completely different (I own GP and I'm smelling it side by side with my sample of Gold Aoud). I should stop looking at the "this reminds me of" section of this site!
