Red Tobacco

Is it a niche or is it a designer scent? Who cares! Red tobacco is wonderful, offering incredible performance and unsurpassed value for money. But, and there is a but. Firstly, the initial couple of minutes are quite harsh on the senses and the uninitiated may be panicked into an early, false judgement possibly jumping into a vat of bleach! Just give it a moment or two for the great reveal. It's worth it, honestly. Secondly, be prepared for a minimum of 12 hours of high performance that doesn't know when to quit. This is no shrinking violet and the delicate amongst us need not apply. So back to the initial application, 3-4 sprays is absolutely adequate but be prepared for a fairly brief chemical attack! No kidding, it's a shock to the system for a moment. Within a few minutes the scent just levels out beautifully, but only if you're unbothered by a myriad of strong, distinctive ingredients. It's beautiful blend is impressive though. Tobacco is the most noticeable but there are woody, floral and vanillic notes supporting and lifting it to a uniqueness not found easily anywhere else in the perfume spectrum. It's a bit of a one off. The astounding thing, apart from the value is the way this product changes just a little over the wearing experience but never loses sight of its character or strength. The individual notes swap places over the many hours until finally after 12+ hours of wear you are still left with a decent, noticeable, smooth, almost gourmand residue that will permeate at arms length, remarkable. 🥰 It's definitely a dominant red fragrance up until this point though, somehow all the individual parts combine to giving off an overall vibe of cooler days filled with outdoor activities, to me anyway! I also think that this is a fragrance to be worn by anyone who just ploughs ahead in life without taking prisoners. Apart from the first few moments of wear it's a highly pleasant and super noticeable fragrance that will get a reaction and almost certainly complimented, something I wasn't expecting when purchased at all. This is a more male heavy fragrance although a strong female would certainly carry it off too. It's probably a scent for the more experienced in both years and fragrance due to needing a little self awareness and control of the spray nozzle! Excellent in moderate to cold climate conditions and possibly warmish spring days but I'd avoid in any extreme heat or humidity. I think it'd be a little too cloying and as heavy as an anvil. A daytime scent for sure and suitable for evening wear as long as it's not freshly applied for an intimate setting. It needs a little time to develop and breathe in close proximity to others, not too long though, 15-20 minutes and you're good to go. If you are an individual that treads their own path, likes to be a little different, confident and unafraid of standing out and doesn't care for the great wokeness purveying society then wear red tobacco. It just screams "bring it on". I'd even go as far as to say that due to its presence, value and beautiful scent it would make a great signature for the right standout individual.

I've had my eye on Herod for quite a few months after getting a sample vial and absolutely fell in love with it. The price, however, kept me from pulling the trigger. I just couldn't figure out if I really could justify spending that much on a fragrance, even if I do love it as much as I do, an even if it was the best tobacco-based fragrance I've ever put my nose to. Then, I came across Red Tobacco. The moment I saw the notes and started watching the (very) limited number of proper reviews, I got super excited. Then, when I searched online to see if I could get it locally I almost fell off my chair when I saw that I could get the 120ml bottle for roughly $100. I received it, and WOW, I'm speechless. I really, honestly, have no desire to own Herod anymore. They're not exactly the same, but I like RT for exactly the same reason I fell in love with Herod in the first place...that natural, cozy tobacco smell. RT lasts longer than Herod too, so that was an obvious win right there. RT to me has a slightly more prominent cinnamon note, but you can definitely still pick up on the vanilla. Herod was the other way around for me. I still can't believe how great of a fragrance this is, and for the price compared to Herod it's a no-brainer. It's my first Mancera fragrance and it definitely won't be my last. I'm now way more interested in trying out more Manceras than PDM. The drydown also reminded my a hell of a lot of Carlisle. Funnily enough, I sprayed this on before going to visit my parents. I sat down, and about 2 or 3 mins later (this was after about 45 mins of actually spraying it on), my mom asked "what smells like tobacco? Like, not cigarette smoke, but just tobacco?". That right there was confirmation to me of just how authentic of a tobacco smell RT has. EDIT 1: yeah this is definitely, so far, my absolute favourite fragrance from Mancera for the colder weather months. It's right up there for me with Aoud Lemon Mint. Projects incredibly well and lasts for what seems like forever. What a fantastic value-packed fragrance. EDIT 2: Yup, still no regrets with this one. Lasts for ages and smells incredible. It does project quite a bit, so don't apply it too heavily. I wouldn't dare to go more than 2 sprays for indoors. I also get REALLY good compliments with this one. In fact, one of the most gorgeous women I've ever met gave me 2 or 3 compliments throughout the span of a few hours. There's just no denying it, Red Tobacco is an absolute superstar fragrance.

Big, harsh opening, huge tobacco. Prickly, spicy. Main notes on opening are unflavored tobacco, oud, a little cinnamon and vanilla coming in behind. There's something pretty deep inside, a jammy flower, not sure what it is - yet. He makes me wait. That's ok. Saffron knocks softly, and there he is. But he's not willing to say much. Incense, yes, incense immediately after it's burned. Tobacco and incense ash mingle in my bedroom burning tray; I'm waking up late after being out late rock and rolling, came home to twisted sheets and blankets, red light over the bed shining dimly and the shades down. Light some incense, have a smoke, turn off the light. That next morning, I draw the curtains and squint. Light streams in. The scent of incense and pipe tobacco from the night before lingers on everything, and as I crack the window, a light scent of sweet white flowers drifts up from below. I go into the kitchen, grab a ripe red apple and a pear from the counter. I throw my shoulders back, open up my chest, and take a big bite of each. They're juicy and mildly fragrant. This day is a good day. The platform of tobacco, vanilla, oud and incense is strong. Something in me wants to say too strong, but I don't know if that's true. Red Tobacco is like the massive wildman Enkidu, made by a goddess from clay; the big, wild clay man is tamed with accoutrements hung from his belt and waist, or placed on his head like a wide-brimmed hat. The accessories give him a personality beyond his big, strong body, and so his body is the basis for everything, and you can't understand anything unless you understand first his strength, what he is. The saffron, apple, and spice that emerge slowly are how this wild man is dressed. The jasmine is like the memory of his lover's perfume still faint on his mantle. There is a supporting, smoky note of guaiac wood, though I barely get vetiver and I don't get any patchouli under late in dry down. This perfume is not for the faint-hearted, for collectors of fun-loving gourmands and spring florals. This perfume means business, but if you are patient, it'll protect you and treat you right (apologies to Pat Benatar). The pome fruit remains together with the tobacco, vanilla, smoke and resins, long after dry down. Later dry down is when the musk note really emerges for me. The scent goes on for hours, all day long. It gets better and better, sweeter and more magnetic, as time goes on. The persistence is beast mode. Wildman - yeah.

I'm going to take a bold stance on this fragrance. After hearing all the reviews of the spicy, masculine, dark powerhouse, I really did expect something much more polarising. When my sample bottle arrived, uncapping it meant I could only smell this bright, juicy pear scent. Spraying it however immediately brought forth all the signature spices. I agree with the consensus that the agressive opening isn't the most pleasant. But if you sprayed this in a store and immediately discarded it, you can't claim to have smelled it. The opening really isn't represantive of wearing this in anyway. After about 10 minutes, the spices subside, and the tobacco (Which goes from photorealistic and harsh to something more sweet and mellow quickly) and that apple and pear combine to make a sweet, fruity, room-filling treat with these gorgeous creamy undertones. I'd say the fruit was more dominant to me than the tobacco. There's definitely a medicinal note that's quite reminiscent of cherry (Maybe swerve this if medicinal isn't your thing, but I quite like it). A lot of people compare this to Carlisle by PDM. Initially I picked up this sample as Carlisle truly won me over when I sprayed it - but being far too expensive for me to daily drive, I tried the more affordable Red Tobacco instead. They smell similar in terms of notes, but the overall impression was starkly different in my mind. RT reminds me a lot more of the L'homme Ideal line by Guerlain; I've not seen anyone make that comparison yet but it's those fruit forward notes to me. This fragrance - post-opening - is massively appealing. In the short time I've had my sample, I've had so many compliments. Not small "You smell nice," compliments. I've had girls approach me, sniff me, ask why I smell amazing and what I'm wearing. My girlfriend has mentioned it three times now, and was looking forward to her whole bed smelling like me after I left. The morning after, she could still smell it strongly on my clothes. TRULY, don't overspray this. It is powerful enough as it is. Though since I only have a sample, I couldn't say if this is from a screw or magnetic cap bottle. Either way, I'll be picking up a full bottle. Girlfriend's orders.

Red Tobacco is a beautiful peach, tobacco, woods, and incense fragrance beautifully blended. To me, it is one of the best fragrances you can wear during autumn, and especially throughout winter. The first associations that come to mind are Christmas: sweet holiday pastries and candles on the dining table. Red Tobacco opens with a warm woody accord and a little bit of incense. Right from the first spray, there is a beautiful sweet peach note that reminds me of the fuzzy skin of a ripe flat peach. Peach with a little bit of a gentle incense and a slightly sweet tobacco accord. The peach is never overly fruity, the incense never dark or intensely smoky, and the tobacco does not resemble a cigar lounge in the slightest. Instead, all three notes come across as soft, slightly gourmand and well balanced. The woods resemble the warm, nutty aroma of hazelnut skins. The result is a combination of authentic-smelling peach, warm sweet woods with a hazelnut-like nuance, subtle tobacco, and a gentle touch of incense during the opening—without ever becoming animalic, harshly smoky or overwhelming. As is often the case with Mancera, the performance is phenomenal. Projection is extremely strong, and longevity is phenomenal. On one of my zip hoodies, I could still notice Red Tobacco for almost an entire week whenever I walked past it in the hallway. Even with several sprays, I never find the fragrance suffocating because its character remains smooth, sweet, gourmand with no sugar and a hint of tobacco. If you apply it generously, be prepared for people to notice you from the other side of the street. To me, Red Tobacco could also be renamed in "Winter-Magic" with a touch of tobacco. It leans toward the winter gourmand category, but with considerably less sugary sweetness than many other fragrances in that style. Unlike many people, I consider this an perfectly safe blind buy for anyone looking for a beautiful winter fragrance.

REVIEW AFTER 5 WEEKS......... It needed some time to mature. I left it 5 weeks or so and It's had its first wear on skin last couple of days and its a creamy, smokey, tobacco with soft cinnamon, amber and tinge of spice on a kind of apple hint. Pretty unique and enveloping. The monster strength everyone talks about is actually only at first, it didn't choke me out like on the first test sprays new. It strong and it lasts, but i feel its more the sillage than the tenacity thats huge and stands out. It drifts on the air and stays around you for a few hours but then fades fast. I went out cycling yesterday and i kept getting delicious wafts off it on the passing air as i took corners or hit a sudden headwind. An unexpected and delightful experience. Its a really gorgeous definition of tobacco, pretty unique and warms my heart. Its not a complex scent, its pretty straightforward, kind of almost gourmand but a really pleasant one thats not too sweet. Alas, its probably not quite the banger Hall of Fame candidate i thought it would be....i prefer a little more complexity for that podium place, but Red Tobacco is without doubt an absolute joy. Its just an attention grabbing warm embrace and its smooth from top to final drydown. At the price this retails at I don't think i'll be getting a full bottle though. I just took a sample. I'll just enjoy that. I have several other beautiful tobacco scents with more complexity and less sweetness. I like a deeper and slightly more smoky tobacco personally.

Alright i got this 3 days ago after trying it in a store. The store had a screw cap version but i bought from a friend 2024 magnetic cap version. Both smell 80-90% same , performance is same (people say its been reformulated but i really don't see it). This starts of with cherry alcoholic drink and red spices type of smell. With a touch of red wine smell , tobacco and vanilla. Really luxurious and unique. On my skin tobacco isn't that noticeable but i can get hints of it. 7 sprays and it will last you 10+ hours. After like 9-10th hour its becoming a skin scent but one that still leaves scent trail. You gotta scrub it in a shower properly to get it off. As for projection its absolutely insane for first 3 hours and you'll be filling rooms like crazy. My friend that i bought the fragrance from came up to me (he was like 3 meters away) and said: bro i know you have a good fragrance but god damn you overdone it , this isn't for school. I really didn't know I was filling space at that level. I really don't know who wouldn't like this. In my opinion pretty mass appealing. This will get you noticed if you are in an environment where there are lots of people. Unisex as stated , on female it can smell different because of skin chemistry so i think women can pull this one off too. It was 70$ for 120ml , absolute steal if you ask me! The one cheap fragrance that really reminds me of this one is Antonio Banderas The Secret Temptation.

genuinely obsessed. while i absolutely love tobacco fragrances, it's a note that far too often ends up smelling disappointingly literal on my skin... USUALLY. but this one right here?? honest-to-god perfection. a sweet creamy (almost boozy) spiced dream scent. sexy, intoxicating, addictive, etc. mancera has created a monster of yearning in me with this fragrance--i swear i think about it even when i'm not wearing it. when i do have it on, i feel like i could spend hours absently sniffing my wrists without even realizing it like a kid with a bad thumb-sucking habit. to my nose the sweetness is perfectly balanced by the woodsy, spicier notes. and speaking of balance--i STRONGLY disagree with the general consensus that this is an ultra masculine scent... as a woman, i find red tobacco to be quite genderless?? it stands squarely on the unisex line with both feet to me, and maybe just a few toes curling over it into masculine territory. i would simply ravage anyone wearing this around me and work out the boy/girl details later. in fact this fragrance is so damn sexy, it makes me irrationally upset that i can't ravage myself. despite this devastating drawback, i can't wait to get my hands on a full bottle. easily a bangin' signature fall/winter evening scent in my books.

This is a true love-it-or-hate-it fragrance—and it fully lives up to the name Red Tobacco. Personally, I’m on the “love it” side, but there are a few key aspects worth highlighting: 1. Opening The opening is very harsh and can be off-putting at first. It almost discouraged me from buying it. That said, give it a few minutes...it settles down beautifully . 2. Dry down This is where the fragrance really shines. After about an hour (sometimes longer), it transforms into a rich, sweet, spicy, and almost addictive scent. Best advice: spray it at least an hour before heading out. 3. Longevity & Performance The performance speaks for itself. You’re easily getting 10+ hours, with strong projection and sillage for the first 5–6 hours. No concerns here at all. 3–4 sprays is more than enough....don’t overwhelm your surroundings. 4. Seasonality Best suited for winter or nighttime wear. This is not a safe option for summer. It’s simply too heavy and intoxicating. 5. Scent Profile / Who is it for? This is not for everyone: I repeat, not for everyone. It fits a man who is confident, composed, and naturally commanding attention without forcing it. Smooth, controlled energy. man this thing is exactly it says it is. A red tobacco that's prolly dried up somewhere in Colombia. Its dark, mysterious, strong, and the smell of having an unbroken principles. Prolly the mafia king. The tobacco is heavy and bitter smelling so its not for those who chases rainbows and skittles. This smells like you own everybody's heads and people actually fears you. This is for the guy with a decisive nature. Command who he wants and cull who he wants. This smell is strong and it fills the whole room and lasts forever. Prolly a guy with a mustache and scary looking kinda vibes. The tobacco is really natural to my nose and it has all the features of it becoming a bit of herbaly and cigary. The dry down is very luxurious as it smells like an expensive and high quality cigar. To me the tobacco smells really good and hefty. This is a high quality frag. I guess you could wear it to a summer village in Colombia or if you work your art in an atelier or something. I don't think this is just for the winter, it goes for summer too. Especially you're adventuring or traveling. It reminds me a video game called hitman 2 in the Colombia town stage. The smell of nature hierarchy is strong in this one. 8.7/10. A really enjoyable good one.🤘

A very dense and powerful combination of intense, warm, sweet, and spicy notes. Did I mention powerful? One of the best things about Mancera's Red Tobacco is the incredible performance. One of the worst things about Red Tobacco is its incredible performance. Almost unyielding, but I love it still. Be careful with this one folks! I recently learned a valuable fragrance lesson: I was supposed to be alone in the office, as the team was out for the weekend... Until in my shock they one-by-one started showing up... The same day I happened to be testing a couple Red Tobacco sprays for the first time, thinking I'd be on my own. Oh, Sh*t! Initially, I only saw watering eyes. Soon followed by all the doors being opened to the outside, airing things out. Then, I overheard someone down the hall say, "They must have really used some heavy-duty industrial-grade cleaner in the office last night." As I tried to sneak away, I got caught. "OMG, that's you?!?" "That's something you sprayed on your body?!?" I apologized, went home, and showered it off. TL;DR: Mancera's Red Tobacco... An incredible 9/10 fragrance that'll get you kicked out of almost any office. Whoops!

I really don't get the comments about smelling bad or harsh, for me it's a perfect long-lasting powerhouse, and just like Boss Absolu and Carlisle, this type of frag smells expensive and really high quality. Opening is not that big of a deal really and in mid and drydown its transitioning into a great clean and nice-smelling fragrance. Most prominent notes for me are Tobacco, Vanilla and Patchouli, don't really get much else. It gotten me compliments and for sure it's potent, don't overspray and you will be fine. On this one, less is actually more. Performance: true 8-14h on skin depending on how much and where you apply, on clothes days, really, like until they get washed If you like Vanilla-Patchouli combo, this is a steal, also cheap for such a nice and long-lasting fragrance. From the trifecta that are very similar Carlisle, Boss Bottled Absolu and Red Tobacco, I prefer in this order: Boss Absolu -> Carlisle -> Red Tobacco, the Boss is the most wearable and I've reached for it much more, had all three, but only purchased Boss.

If I had to live with one perfume for the rest of my life for cold weather.. this is it. Forget the harsh opening, once this is on your skin for 30 mins it just speaks. Every time I’ve worn this, every single time, I’ve been complimented. My boss, strangers, people have followed me to parking lots stood outside my car window to ask me what I was wearing. I once was at a gym for work related tasks and someone 15 feet away saw me, smiled and then followed me tapped me on the shoulder to ask me what I was wearing. He said he smelled Layton, I said no and moved along. If you can get this at a discounter get it. But then again, if you don’t like tobacco, rich, dark deep scents this isn’t for you. I have both the magnetic and the screw top from the OG batches, people are complaining new batches have performance issues.. BALONEY!! It’s just as good.

First few minutes, this fragrance could get charged with assault. It batters your nose with an assortment of notes that are sharp and piercing, but beyond that point, once the fragrance calms down and stops throwing a tantrum, it turns into a beautifully creamy and warm scent that is a pleasure to smell. The scent surrounds me with a cloud of warmth that brings a smile to my face for the entire life of the scent. As I've said in another review, I love blind buying and just smelling from the box for the first time. This scent, initially felt like a bad choice, but then firmly sat in the 'Win' category. My personal advice, spray this and don't be turned off by the initial moments, the fragrance just needs to settle down and then it will show its true colours, you may even grow to like the opening, which I have now. 9/10

This is for @Elite4me2: Does it lean traditionally masculine? Yes. But depending on who you are and what you like, I don't think that should necessarily stop you from wearing it. I am a woman and am not trying to attract men. I don't wear perfume for that purpose; I wear it for myself. Plus, I'm a fan of tobacco notes. Tobacco Vanille is too cloying for me. This is very spicy & tobacco forward, but with fruit and floral sweetness in the background. Vanilla is a skillful support & one of the things I like about this fragrance is that it's not a vanilla bomb or vanilla forward. Only the heterosexual men here can say whether they would be put off by smelling this on a woman. But I can say, I just love this s***. When I'm in the mood to wear it, like today, it just makes me happy.

Such a stunning fragrance. I've had this for a while but haven't worn in for about 1.5 years now. The nutmeg turned me off and I took a break. Today is a dry very cold day and this is honestly so warm, rich and magnetic. I always find this harsh in the open but as my bottle has aged that's toned down a bit, then this seductive spiced vanilla with a spine of tobacco and a hint of oud wafts in, the patchouli and vetiver keeps this from becoming syrupy - thank god. Red Tobacco just makes you feel good, put together with the confidence that no matter what's going on that day, you smell great. This is unisex for women who enjoy heavily spiced fragrances, you need to appreciate patchouli and be in the right mood. Excellent for the ultra cold months of January and February.

This is a very Nice Fragrance, Smoky, Spicy, Tobacco and Complex. I bought it blind-buy after reading the positive comments and I watched reviews on YouTube with reasonable price. It Reminds me a bit of Zirh Ikon Oud , but Red Tobacco launched before of Ikon Oud and It is very Complex and Ikon Oud is linear. Red Tobacco has High Quality Composition. It opens up with a bit strong medicinal warm spicy , smoky , Spices and Oud in the background then dry down is a bit sweet creamy vanilla, ambery, tobacco and woody. The Agarwood (Oud) note is dominant in this perfume. This is perfect for the fall and winter and when the weather is very cold , I really enjoy it. Longevity is very good. Highly Recommend. Two Thumbs Up Bravo Monsieur Pierre Montale ! Rating : 8.5 / 10

Not for soft dudes. Not for office clowns. Red Tobacco is for someone who wants to smell like they make decisions other people are scared to talk about. Red Tobacco doesn’t just walk into a room. It kicks the door off the hinges, flips the lights on, and dares everyone to breathe. This stuff is pure boss energy. One spray and you’re not wearing a scent you’re wearing a reputation. The opening is straight violence. Hot cinnamon, pepper, and that explosive Mancera DNA that hits harder than a warning shot after midnight. If your nose isn’t ready, it’s tapping out instantly. Then the tobacco shows up. Dark, dirty, unapologetic. Forget the classy cigar lounge vibe. This is the back-room, money-counting, cigar-still-smoking kind of air. Thick, heavy, almost sticky.
