On the first spray, there is an immediate scent of roses--both real and synthetic. Within a minute, a spicy note comes through (I'm assuming the pink pepper), as well as a vaguely "soapy" scent... Maybe the benzoin and/or musk? I'm not usually big on soapy fragrances, but this is surprisingly not unpleasant, maybe because of how subtle it is. No sweetness at all, other than the natural sweetness of the roses. Within a few minutes, the roses and pepper have settled a little. The soapy scent has become a little more prominent, but it's still not awful. More notes are slowly coming through: delicate florals, fresh fruit, the tiniest hint of coconut... It smells like springtime after the last frost. I can't stop smelling myself! A little later, the soap has turned into soft, gently sweet powder, the pepper has faded almost entirely, and the roses are barely there, lingering in the background. The fruits and florals have melded into a light blanket of scent. This is the time of spring when mothers are resting and admiring their new babies. After a few more hours, the scents are very green, woody, and an almost aquatic note? despite there being nothing like that in the notes. The remaining fruits and florals are faded, but still very bright. It's the time of spring right after the rain, when forests have sprouted all their new leaves and are ready for summer. I can see why this is unisex: I had my husband try it too at the same time, and while it smells similar on the both of us, the more "masculine" notes stayed more prominent on him over time (the pepper and musk), while they faded on me. Both our scents went through periods of masculine and feminine, though. Pretty fascinating :) On both of us, it was definitely a skin scent. You won't be clearing rooms with this, but if someone walks near you, they'll probably catch a whiff. Roses Greedy makes this scent sound more intensive and dark than it really is. If I had to rename it, I would simply call it Spring. No other perfume I've tried has taken me on a journey through an entire season like this one has. Lovely.

First things first, the bottle is amazing! Very high quality packaging, I love that. The smell is very floral fruity gourmand, but not like your usual cheap smelling mass production floral fruity ( Prada Candy, latest releases from Gucci, any type of celebrity perfumes which are great air fresheners, or Victoria Secrete perfumes which are even more cheaper kind of air fresheners etc ). No, this is a very sophisticated Floral Fruity Gourmand. You don't smell much rose in here, but more of a Jasmine mixed with vanilla, amber and musk. It's quite long lasting, even for me because my skin eats perfume in minutes, any perfume, but this one I can hold for about 2-3 hours on my wrist ( other perfume is less than an hour, even the niche kind ). My first impressions of this perfume is that it reminded me a bit of the first Juicy Couture perfume, but more fruity and sensual, not as harsh as Juicy. But I've noticed this with other Mancera perfumes, in the beginning they remind you of something, but after several days of use you realize that they are a completely incredible perfumes and nothing resembles their smells. I've had that impression with Roses Vanille ( by Mancera ) in the beginning as well, then I just fell head over heels in LOVE with it and it became my signature, just gorgeous smell. I live in US so these are hard to find, I found a couple of websites and I've been ordering from them( which are much more expensive than they usually are ) . I intend to collect most of the Mancera line, I already have three perfumes by them and ordered blind, loved all three, and now ordering my second bottle of Roses Vanille. Mancera definitely is a very strong house, I have a feeling once more people discover this brand, it will become way more popular and more expensive. I love Mancera more than Montale, I've tried several Montale fragrances and they just didn't do anything for me, and I had no staying power from Montale. But Mancera, just WOW!

A sweet, jammy rose on steroids... and I love it. This was a rare love-at-first-sniff, and from a blind buy, no less, after reading all the reviews here. I wouldn't call this fragrance particularly complex, but such a beauty doesn't have to be. The word that comes to mind when I put this on is "exuberant." Obviously rose is the star, and it's the prettiest rose on its rosiest day, anchored by musk and amber, and a hint of vanilla. I also can detect the blackcurrant in this... I think it's what lends some of the sweet jamminess. The base notes never take over, they just hold the balloon string in the background. Somehow there is also a sharp alcohol-y edge (not in an unpleasant way) that reminds me of Not a Perfume by Juliette Has a Gun. Must be ambrox... ISO E Super? It lends a bit of bite to this otherwise very sweet and round perfume. However, that note in particular reacts differently with everyone's chemistry, making me wonder how this smells on others. I wore this to a brunch on Sunday and a man I know exclaimed how good I smelled, and actually came back to give me a hug so he could smell me again. "Smell her!" he directed everyone at the table. It made me laugh, and I was reminded what a pleasure it is to wear a smell you honestly love that others also enjoy because it really works with your chemistry. This is that scent for me. I can see this becoming a signature scent - it's already a star in my collection. *edited to add: this smells so extremely similar to Montale's Roses Musk. It makes sense since Pierre Montale nosed them both. This is exactly the same rose but RM is - surprise - slightly more musky.

I absolutely love this one. I use rosewater every day on my skin, and this reminds me of that, to an extent. Imagine rosewater that's very sweet (I wouldn't say it's gourmand but it's still quite sweet), moderately musky, and earthy. Those who are familiar with the classic Mancera white musk will still smell it here. It's iconic, at this point, because it's sort of the foundation of their fragrances. The scent is not the strongest Mancera that I've ever smelled, but it's no slouch. It's a strong and somewhat mature musky rose floral. It reminds me of vintage perfumes from the 80s and 90s a bit. It has that je ne sais quoi "perfumey" quality that's reminiscent of strong florals, musk, and a characteristic that might remind someone of bubbly champagne. It's quite feminine and timeless. I can't pinpoint where I've smelled something similar to this, but it reminds me of scents I've smelled all throughout my life. I remember times when women walked by me when I was a little girl in the 90s, smelling of sweet florals, and I'd exclaim that they smelled very pretty. Ultimately, this isn't a very revolutionary scent, but it's very pretty. It's nostalgic, has great longevity and projection, and is one of my favorite rose fragrances. It walks a thin line between being a fresh fragrance and being a heavier evening fragrance. It sits somewhere in the middle. It's not fresh enough to be a light and airy freshie, but it's not heavy enough to warrant being confined strictly to colder weather and formal occasions. Because of this, I find it to be quite versatile. It's definitely an easy reach for me.
