So Blue

I have been searching for a scent that's been in my mind for a while. A rose scent that isnt sweet or candied or gothic. Aquatic but no peony. Something more unisex and citrusy. A fruity floral that cant be found on any designer rack. Enter Mancera So Blue. This is the ultimate unisex aquatic rose scent. So Blue opens with fresh watery rose petals and citrus. I smell bergamot and orange. The opening is very fresh and leans feminine like a clean shampoo. As it dries down, you start to get that bit of an edge from patchouli. The feminine lean tips back towards unisex. It gets a little more salty like there's a touch of ocean water nearby. The heart is full of water, roses, and enough patchouli to keep it unisex and unsweetened yet it never turns sour. Moving my wrists sends a little waft of rosewater and bergamot into the air. Sticking my nose close to the skin gives me touches of violet and sandalwood. Everything is clean and bright without getting too scratchy or harsh to the nose. Longevity is good. 10 hrs later, I can still smell it on my arm when I hold my nose to it. The scent projects for several hours before sitting close to the body through the dry down. Overall, this is exactly what I was looking for. It can be hard to find a rose that isn't "FLORAL," i.e. mixed with peony, jasmine, geranium, etc etc. This is a perfectly balanced aquatic rose suitable for men and women, great for hot weather, workplace friendly.

This is by far my favorite perfume in my collection, it’s sweet and fruity without being too feminine but also has that slight citrus smell at times as well as the occasion whiff of a river along a garden. I don’t get so much of an ocean scent from this, however, I would say it’s great in tropical and warmer climates. It was my first bottle after probably around a hundred samples and after having it for a year it’s aged very nicely. Theres a slight soapy aspect to it in the opening now but fades quickly into a soft background scent to the main characteristics mentioned. After about one year the smell has just gotten better and now I get around one to two compliments from both women and men on the days I wear it. The longevity is incredible, I put it on at 6 and I can still smell it on me when I go to practice at 3. One thing I love about this that I haven’t found in a lot of other fragrances is the scent gets stronger when you sweat, so it smells perfectly present during practice and is still prominent at 6 when we finish. Sillage is very good starting off at around five feet for the first few hours then going down to around 3 or 4 which is perfect for the classroom. I use around 6 sprays for this performance and I love the atomizer. Would def recommend to my friends if I didn’t want to gatekeep my signature. didnt like it at first....it felt like too designer like, and familiar.its very simple and aromatic summer oceanic and rose based scent, but third time it was a charm....i think i like it for the simplicity in summers.boy it lasts a lot...bottle is gorgeous...both genders can wear it...but it feels like upscale designer release,has some citrus and fruits up top....not for very mature noses...they will dismiss it in a second...but it will be a crowd pleasure for sure.cant believe there is no review on this lil gem yet...should i buy it and review it?i think so ;) longevity&projection:8 smell:8.5 versatility: 7 (summer/casual) compliments: 8 overall: 8/10 mancera is my most favorite house at this point... cant get better value than their fragrances, but always try before you buy, some of them may not work for you, acquired taste :)

Love the freshly start, definitely smell beach in this one. Very elegant subtile and soft scent, for everyday use. Office friendly not offensive at all! Unisex. To me a good niche worthy perfume. I do smell a bit Jardin Exclusif in this, which I like more. Not sure which note it is, definitely less salty and less sharp than JE. Try before buy! @coolephelps said aoud lemon mint is better, well that’s a totally different scent. Cannot even compare them, they’re so different. If you have no idea how they’re smelling, I would say ignore the comment. So blue is unisex, fresh, for warmer seasons and light to wear, while aoud lemon mint is heavy masculine scent more for the colder seasons. Which is better depends on your preferences. As a woman I like So Blue a lot more. It reminds me of the beach 8/10

A precious fragrance. Starts fresh with citrus notes, later paired with sweet fruits that last just a moment. After that it settles into a comforting and safe blend of musk, sandalwood and a very light vanilla. It isn't a new fragrance and yet I find it irresistible for some reason. At its core the notes are a perfect match for a masculine perfume while other notes like the sweet fruits and citrus give a spin to the whole composition. I sincerely don't smell any marine note. I get a lot of compliments ( usually when I don't abuse it), so Im glad this is not the typical popular "clubbing" fragrance.

This is my 10th Mancera fragrence. Got a 60ml bottle for €40, which was worth a shot even if it was going to be terrible. Hadnt sampled previously but the reviews were good. I was very pleasantly suprised. A beautiful rose and fruity opening definitely leaning a bit feminine for the first few moments but it settles down to more rose, musk and a hint of blue aquatic. A very interesting composition. Bright, Airy, Light with good performance. Solid summer fragrence. I would recommend but rumours are it is now discontinued

Nostalgic, this reminds me of something, but I do not know exactly what, it makes me feel good and is very versatile! The marine notes and fruity notes prevail, but the rose is pronounced! In the drydown it is interesting, the violet emerges by putting some "dusty" impression on the perfume. However it is well balanced, and in my opinion it is ideal for summer! I like it, and I can not wait to get the sun to give all its glory! :) Sillage: 7.5/10 Longevity: 8.5/10 Scent: 8./10 Overall: 8./10.

This is 30% Black Line, 30% Wild Fruits, 30% Pink Prestigium, and 10% Cedrat Boise (the oakmoss). Another way of describing it is that it smells like a fancy hotel shampoo. If you have a lot of fragrances and consider yourself a snob, then skip this. If you're just looking for a clean scent that's extremely inoffensive, this is it. Good longevity but moderate projection. 100% unisex, day time, spring and summer fragrance.

I enjoy this scent very much. So blue reminds me of the blue lagoon. If you know the movie, and if the movie had a scent, this would be it. It’s a scent that you can wear with 30+ degrees Celsius (hot weather). It’s not strong or very longlasting, but creates a nice smell that people around you will enjoy. 100% unisex. Can’t wait to wear this on vacation. One of the best from my Mancera collection.

It smells unique, beautiful fragrance of summer and spring, this is very good, not as potent as the other Mancera, however this is very well mixed with fresh fruits with the sea breeze, leaves a sweet watery touch, there is no way this goes wrong , Could only have a higher performance. So, So Blue stayed over 20 hours on my arm 🤤💣 💥... With a floral opening, very floral, totally feminine and after 1 hour it started to develop and approach the 100% unisex zone. Great development of the waves, which also brought fruit to the salad🌊😍😂

Great citrusy, floral aquatic scent. It is unisex, but leans a tad bit feminine. I would rock it no matter what, the scent is very pleasant. It's a winner in my book.

Beautiful fruity aquatic with beastly performance. One of my favorite Manceras. If you want to experience the listed base notes , you will have to wait 12+ hours

Sample before you buy if you aren't familiar with floral/rose fragrances for men. So Blue can definitely be pulled off by most men. However, a large majority of men will need to be able to "tolerate" the intense floral opening, and be able to wait 2-3+ hours until the fragrance starts to reach its full dry down. Before you'll start to enjoy the beauty of So Blue. The wafts that you'll smell in the air are beautiful, sexy, and elegant. If the dry down were muskier, creamier or woodier. So Blue would be a real floral stunner for many more men. If you like Paco Rabanne's 1 Million Cologne....you will likely enjoy So Blue, which smells like a niche version of 1 Million Cologne. Overall: 8/10

This isn’t a “blue” dna scent but there’s something blue about it. Think of a beautiful still lagoon lined with florals and fruits trees. To my nose, I’d describe this fragrance filled with florals, mixed with some fresh fruits with a hint of sweetness. The florals are then balanced out by the sea notes (very fresh watery notes, not the salty kind). Very later on when this starts to really dry down, the amber, musk and vanilla come town. You will get compliments, ladies love this scent. Longevity: 8-10 hrs Scent: 9/10 Unisex: 10/10 🇯🇲

It may be discontinued.. A quick check shows it's not available on Ebay and some of the regular discount sites ATM. After wearing my decant over the last month or so I agree with most other reviews. Soapy fresh clean and fruity. Perfectly unisex as the rose is present but blends well with the citrus notes so it's not super feminine.Not beast mode quite but does lasts a long time and projection is solid. It's been out 11 years so it would not be a shocker if Pierre pulled the plug on this one.

When I first smelled this I was confused by the simplicity, It smells literally like a blue hair gel or mousse. I let it sit and slept with it. Woke up 8 hours later and it was still very present and pleasant. This to me is just a great frag with such smooth texture never clawing. Smells like you just stepped out of a hair saloon. I have over 100 frags and a decent blue section. As simple as this is its a no great scent.

This definitely leans on the female side of unisex but it’s so pleasant smelling that anyone can rock. Doesn’t change a lot and all I get it roseeee with some aquatic notes. Stays on for a long time like 10plus hours but doesn’t project much. Quality on manceras are always better than designers so that’s a plus considering the designerish feel to this

So blue is light yet smells like clean men body wash. It is unisex and can be over sprayed. It stays close to the skin but during the day I am able to detect a silent scent that passes by as I walk or when the wind is gusty. Happy to say that even though this leans more unisex it does not have that strong clean smell that most men’s perfume have.

Imagine a fancy shampoo, a fruit basket, and saltwater vibes all having a very polite threesome. That’s Mancera So Blue.

Not masculine at all but not a feminine scent completely it even out to a floral unisex scent in the dry down stage

Inoffensive, light freshie with some elegance to it. If Mancera Aoud Blue Notes is the projecting, serious big brother, who's making money, while having to make sacrifices, then 'So Blue' is the careless, younger brother with attitude, riding on the same wavelength, and not having to be nearly as responsible as the big bro and living life like rules don't matter. Who wears this? Picture Justin Bieber 2012.

Not sure if it’s just me or not but after it dries down it smells “soapy.” I would describe it as hotel shampoo if I had to put a name on the smell.

For those who haven't tried this bottle, its smell is very sweet and quite strong. If the weather is too hot, I guess the smell can be annoying

What the heck did I just spray on myself...is what ran through my mind after applying this. Sweet fruity concoction that I do not like. IMHO, nothing works well. Opens with a floral sweet fruity/citrus blast. I’m guessing it is the rose note that seems to be drenched in a Juices of a fruit salad. As it dries down, the florals come to forefront with a clean musk. Way to feminine for me, and I would NOT want to smell this on my wife. Longevity is above average and projection is average. Best for spring/summer. I believe it is feminine. Mancera is one of my favorite houses. I was excited to try this. I am majorly disappointed. Do what I did, buy a sample to try it out. The sample saved me from blind buying this mess of sweet notes.

I really wanted to like this, any new release from Mancera I'm usually all over - especially if it's something new and acquatic. Just recieved my sample, sprayed on 2 sprays and wow - extremely feminine. I love flowery smelling perfumes including Tom Ford's Cafe Rose, etc but this is just too much. I'm getting a warm vibe, and that classic "old lady" smell of too much violet as well. This product doesn't seem too cheaply made but it's just too strong to be worn by a man in my opinion. To be honest, this was the first time I was actually repulsed putting a fragrance on, and quickly sprayed Kumkat Wood over it to try and cover up the heavy violet note. Try at your own risk.

This opens as a playful powdery, fruity and aquatic scent that transforms into oriental rose, unfortunately the dry down is all bitter oakmoss which completely puts me off this fragrance, I find myself washing it off before I reach that dreadful final stage! Edit: I don’t dislike oakmoss but there’s something about Mancera’s oakmoss that’s aggressive and persistent.

A boring, shower gel like summer scent. Not a great performer. There are better options with better prices in the market.

Just received a sample of this today and as a fan of both citrus and aqueous notes thought I would test it straight away! The opening notes are all about candied violet and rose with a burst of fizzy fruit. So Blue reminds me more of Pink at this point with strong echoes of Miss Dior Cherie and Gucci Envy Me 2. The marine notes are there in the background, underscoring the more pronounced sweet fruit and floral notes and also behind the pepper. The Patchouli is also present with a very light almost menthol-like edge but I didn't get much in the way of lemon or citrus notes other than perhaps some sugary mandarin After half an hour So Blue has become a very light skin scent for me, trace gourmand notes of vanilla and delicate rose musk with a lick of sea salt and fresh off the sea breeze, now also some very subtle hints of tart lemon but I'm straining to sniff my wrist and arm at this point. This is a nice totally non-offensive scent, too fruity and 'pink' for me in the short term and also too short lived. I do quite like the salty / sweet elements of the dry down but they are too faint for me to warrant a FB. I'm disappointed because I find it less distinctive than other Mancera perfumes but I guess it would work as a simple light, bright & fruity summer scent. From the packaging it looks as if they were going for something similar to the Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo line of which I have two and find both the longevity and silage better. I will no doubt use up the sample though as an easy go-to & happy perfume over the next week or two :)

Just received So Blue and although I like it, I am still hanging in the balance. I get a fruity, semi-sweet vibe when first sprayed; vanilla, steams marine (whatever that is) violet, lemon and much rose. Some men might find this on the other end of the traditional male fragrance spectrum; I detect minimal musk, amber, patchouli, and peppers. So Blue is unisex in my opinion. When my wife smelled this fragrance she was immediately pleased and suggested, "this is something I think I might want to wear!" I think this is, again, a wonderful fragrance and I will be testing this a bit more in the coming days/weeks. P.S. I agree with ali1970 below....a lovely perfume for a man whose both confident and sure of himself!! [update] So, I have worn this for the week and I think I might have found my new signature scent!! After giving So Blue sometime to macerate on the skin I've notice that it isn't as feminine as I once thought; perhaps, this is the beauty in giving fragrances a moment to allow one's nose pattern and sense of smell to kick in. I must apologize for making a very elementary judgment without giving this a fair assessment! Way to go Mancera! So blue has wonderful sillage and projection! So Blue is sooo blue!! My wife said she likes this one on me rather than Aoud Blue Notes which she said is more feminine to her than this!

So Blue is a fruity floral musk. It's also sadly reminiscent of at least a dozen other works by Montale. I would suppose by the name So Blue he must have been referring "so disappointed", because that seems to be exactly what you should expect to experience with this one. The fragrance is very oily, but the actual fragrant content seems to be very low, because even after three sprays to the neck it barely projects. You'll have to have a virgin nose to smell it. The typical fragrance lover will only be able to get the rose, the coconut "sea note", and the dreadful stale musk that Montale's perfume ingredient distribution pyramid scheme insists on putting in every other fragrance to sell what would otherwise be totally unsaleable. The rose note also seems stale—which really makes the fragrance entirely off-putting. Another swing and miss from Montale. I hope he doesn't think that releasing Aoud Blue Notes in full form makes up for this one, because if we're counting fouls, he's easily racked up enough to lose the entire game.

Had a sample of this a few years back and though I do agree with many reviews below, this does tend to lean on the feminine side of unisex...it still can be worn by a man and complimented. That bright juicy citrus fruity opening sparkles as the rose starts to poke through entering the mid. The sea notes and violets are present but not over powering with a calone water effect like overdose. The drydown moves this one closer to unisex making it easily wearable by a man as stated. I did get complimented and the lady on the spot looked So Blue up as she said I smelled really good...that was during the mid about 4hrs in. After smelling more fragrance and eventually running across PR 1Million Cologne, it hit me that these 2 def bear a resemblance. So Blue is def higher quality and way smoother. The opening and mid are almost flipped but you can see that was the in thing back in 2015. All in all, Solid release and quite affordable now a days.

Smells really unique. Reminds me of some blue labeled shampoo. Clean and sweet. It does remind me of some blue bottled designer perfumes. But this one is more complex and high quality. Easy to wear. This is sweet aquatic. Same vein as bleue eau de merveilles. But non linear. I get some patchouli in the drydown Its really different depending on the weather. I gave my sample to my uncle and keep smelling like aquatic fruity rose. I thought it was different so I asked what he was wearing and he said the one you give to me. But this is a good good hot weather perfume if you have smelled gold intensitive aoud, this is like a sweeter more approachable gold intensitive aoud. Same bulgarian rose absolu. Imagine a rose coated with blue fruity candy, floating in the sea with pathchouli floating.

Solid 9.5/10 for me. I see a lot of ppl downplaying how good So Blue is. They call it "fancy shampoo" or soapy. But I personally dont see it. I think it's an amazing fragrance. Its actually my favorite of all time. Unfortunately however, it's discontinued. I've worn this mainly in the summer and have gotten compliments every single time I wear it. Its quite strong so even if I walk past someone it usually turns heads and gets compliments. However mine has also been macerating for a long time. I also used to wear it to work and people could smell it from across the room and complimented it a lot. For me, So Blue smells like fruits, roses, fresh, and a but of honey. Atleast to me. If you can get your hands on this, u wont regret it at all. Very safe blind buy.

Very nice unique and inoffensive scent for the spring and summer. I could definitely see how people say this is feminine leaning and honestly I agree. But as a guy I would still rock this. rosey fruity opening drying down into a almost woody soapy rose. The projection and longevity are nothing beast mode but thats not a concern. The scent profile is easily a 9, it's very unique. also if you want to try this scent out for a cheaper price there is a company called JB fragrances and they have a cologne called So Blue. Inspired by Mancera So Blue (obviously) it's very close and definitely not talked about enough. and only 40$! We need to start hyping up stuff that isn't worn by famous people but stuff that actually smells good. This would be a great start.

This is my first impression. It IS not intended for most men. In fact, this frag is perfect for those who want to amplify their feminine sides. It has a similar fruity note to that of One Million Lucky, and a refreshing rose note. It is a beautiful scent, but masculinity is not one of its qualities. UPDATE It's been about 2 months and this scent definitely grows on me. However, this fragrance mostly draw attention and no compliments so far. One of my students even told me it was really loud. Strong scent but not a compliment getter for men.

On me this is a unique " blue" floral with rose being the most dominant floal note .It's unisex leaning slightly feminine though, but don't let this put you off as a man.It opens citrus fruity ,floral then gets soapy and aquatic ,then morphs woody powdery in tje drydown..This for sure has great longevity and about arms length projection for about 3 hrs.then it calms down but if you start sweating it gains strength again and radiates of your body in waves,I love this Underated & now unfortunately discontinued gem from Mancera

Ok first things first this fragrance IS NOT for males no matter what any other review says, nor is it similar to one million AT ALL those comments are ignorant. So blue is excellent, for woman. If you are a male please do not blind buy this if it’s for your lady and she likes floral fresh scents it’s ideal and a MUST have and it’ll last for HOURS and project very very well. Again this is not for men in any way

i just dont get it why this perfume has a lot of bad reviews.. this is a great scent imo. a very unisex one. fresh and i got a lot of compliments in the office.. the performance is very good.. speaking of the scent, is not ur typical mancera fragrance. i agree with someone here that this is kind of a high end designer fragrance.

I think this is great. @ Violater702, you’re so wrong mate. Ease up... We are can wear this if we want. Wife loves it, I think it’s a great “out of the shower frag” Nice clean and fresh frag. Yes, you can wear this if you’re confident enough and your counter part will appreciate it.

Smells like a soap from the start but after 20 mins Bulgarian rose and Sea notes kick in and its sooo fresh and clean scent but very weak on my skin and i spray 7+ times on 1 place its like skin scent

The oakmoss is really annoying to me Nothing special honestly, smelled dozens similar to this
