The Aoud

Well I think the name is suited to this one very well. The Aoud is not just another Rose/oud combo it tips the scales well and truly into the Oud and sandalwood realm rather than the other way into overly rosy territory. The oud is pretty pure and dominant in this one, slightly smoky and medicinal. The opening is dense peppery woods and sharp exotic saffron which settles to a very nice deep dark oud. There's a traditional touch of rose there too but as I mentioned above it's very low in the mix allowing the more woody elements of this brew to shine. Excellent stuff I can't fault it at all. Minimal enough to let the oud shine but with enough creativity to make it a viable composition. Really good stuff from Mancera, does what it says on the tin!

This is a winner. It's oudy in an oriental way. The oud itself is quite clean. Has a floral feel which is blended well and still feels masculine. There are also some spices around the edge which add depth. The performance of this is not as loud as most Mancera fragrances. You get whiffs of it throughout the day but it doesn't scream. I don't mind this at all since I'd rather it be this way than a slap in the face for anyone around. As with most Mancera fragrances, I find this smells better in the air than up close. Overall I really enjoy this. Classy and easy to like. 8.5/10

So this is how you tame an oud! Its beautiful dark leathery wearable oud. Not similar to black aoud, black aoud is bright orange jammy rose. This is oud, leather, dark, sexy elegant, woody, and masculine. I cannot detect the rose here. Its smells like an old smokey luxurious leather. This is very beautiful and a well rounded easy to love oud hearted perfume. I cannot detect the oud in black oud. That one taught how to love rose. This one taught me how to love oud. And again wow. This is not barnyard or hard to wear. Just for formal occasions apply lightly please.

This very much reminds me of Spicy Aoud from Montale. Take the very best part of spicy aoud and amplify it and give it stellar longevity with above average projection and it's a homerun. This is one of my favorite Manceras. Warm, aoudy and narcotic in a way...cannot stop smelling my arm. Spicy aoud has the same affect, in fact, minus the orris root and gourmand accord, they both have the vibe of Red Aoud from Montale, but Spicy Aoud, while so damn good, falls off in under an hour to a non existent scent. The Aoud fixes that. 9/10

Wearing it for a year now. It's oud and rose leading the way. For me, after some time, rose is more prominent (only if applied on cloths). Woods are there in the background. Very strong projection and sillage. Will last for many days on cloths, and 12 plus hours (vary as per skin chemistry). Two sprays are enough to fill a room. I think it will take many years to finish 120 ml. 😁

Just been given this extraordinary fragrance for my birthday. What a powerhouse! Cannot believe it was made in Paris, the feeling is so Middle Eastern and fabulous. Long lasting, great story that weaves in and through. Oudh but oudh PLUS!

Very oud forward. Definitely very similar to black to black but it's almost 1 to 1 with spicy aoud from montale. This has been discontinued for some years now but I'm glad I picked it up. 8.5/10.

If you like Arabian Oud dark animalic scent, this is the one for you. Oud is the dominant note here with a touch of roses. Scent 8/10 Sillage 10/10 Longevity 10/10 Value 9/10

I applied just a couple of sprays 12 hours ago and it’s still going strong. It really does go on forever. Be careful with the application - it can be overpowering.

Mmmm the Aoud and rose are well blended. Take time to be appreciated. But all in all you feel royalty in the air.

A very basic oud. I was shocked tto see its composition (I first sample things at the store--ie, buy samples, wear them a few times, form opinions, then check out their profile here so as not to be swayed by what I read vs the scent itself). It didn't last nearly long enough, the oud didn't have any personality beyond just flowery, relatively inoffensive oud (I like the barnyard, animalic samples of pure oud more than the floral ones; I don't know what oud is in this one or how much of it, but it smells like the inoffensive kind). It was an oud I could wear to work and, amidst a sea of oud samples I got from a local boutique and even more than I had smelled in the store, utterly not memorabe and nondescript. Montale and Mancera brands make SOOO many more exciting ouds (in fact, too many, I think: decision-making fatigue and choice overwhelm are real psych phenomena, and I've yet to purchase any of their fragrances because I like yet am confused by the profusion of so many). I guess of all those, I liked this one enough at the store to buy a sample--as a basic oud to layer other lighter scents on top of, almost the way people purchase essential oils and then wear perfumes on top, using the oil as an emolllient, fragrant base that is also their signature--and this must have fit the bill, but its sillage was a tad too low for me and its longevity--just a few hours--utterly disappointing. And had I first read the composition and gone in looking for soemthing that was rosy, woody, peppery, aromatic, oudy--forget it. This wasn't that. An oud eau de toilette, more like, if such a thing existed. The description--rose, oud, long-lasting, good sillage: all that to me is what Luxor Oud is like. I wish very much that this Mancera The Aoud lived up to its fragrance pyrmid or description! I think I need to go back and get another sample of this one. Something isn't equating, even though I have the previous sample bottle in front of me and am smelling its remnants. It's just so...(for an oud) basic, unemorable, nondescript. Slightly flowery--but not even remarkably so. IF somebody told me it was from a specific type of oud that had flowery notes to it (if you've bought and smelled pure oud from wholesalers you know what I mean--different ouds from different areas and times of harvest smell remarkably, utterly different!), I would believe it. It's a good smell, if you like you oud--but its not genius--and certainly it wasn't worth Montale's time, I don't believe, in creating such a symphonic work with so many supposed notes in it for s result so bland and basic.

The Aoud is a powerful geranium, patchouli and rose fragrance with saffron playing a minor supporting role. The beginning smells like freshly varnished wood with floral undertones and then it gradually softens through its development, but not much. The reference to oud in the note pyramid and the name is really played out mostly by the patchouli, and the leather is played out in the saffron note, so essentially a lot of the notes seem to be coming from the same source to my nose. In the end the details don’t matter. Overall it is a beautiful composition, impressive from the first spray and leaving a beautiful lingering smell on clothes the next morning. Perfect for evenings when there’s a situation that calls for some brashness, or just for a casual and thoroughly enjoyable wear at home.

Wow this is a beautiful fragrance ... one of the best gateways to oud fragrances.... Opening is slightly strong medicinal kind of vibe .... but dats nly gonna be for 5mins Then the rose and oud comes out ... dry down is wen it’s really smells pleasant... n women do love this fragrance on men... even though it’s marked as unisex ... I don’t think women can pull this fragrance...coz it’s smells very masculine...n I think women can’t rock this fragrance... Smell -9/10 Longevity-10/10(12+hrs easily) Projection-10/10(enormous for couple of hrs) Compliments-10/10( compliment getter for sure) Versatility-10/10( All season All occasion) Jes go on easy with the trigger... 2 sprays max.. coz it’s a potent juice ...

If you just stick your face into your arm or wrist after spraying The Aoud, get ready: This is going to kick you in the nose. Peter's fragranceview review is spot on--a bergamot, clove, rose punch in the face. Let this settle, and smell from 6 inches away: Then you are getting a real feel for the fragrance. I love this smell, but it must be appreciated on its own terms. This is not a wrist smell-er. Instead, you get awesome wafts of yourself as you walk around or turn. The people who say "wood varnish" are not wrong, they are just forcing the smell into their nose from close up huffing. Don't do that with The Aoud!

A fashinating work with several, very different phases. Initially rosy leather, wood and books. A classical workroom and library - English style. But rather soon a beautiful rose steps into the foreground and the fragrance gets a more oriental touch. Rose, leather, wood, and spices. A shop in a Turkish bazaar or a palace in "Thousand and One Nights". In the next phase the rose turns a bit soapy. The drydown finally is a sweet woody scent Manceras The Aoud takes me on an alluring journey. I love travelling thorough all the phases, maybe with a slight exception for the most soapy rose section.

I've only given this a try once so far. The opening is not the best, heavy medicinal rose scent. After an hour, still heavy rose scent, but the medicinal aspect fades away. All I smell is rose now, lots of rose. I am a little disappointed as I was hoping to have more clove and cinnamon. Not a terrible smell, but not one I would really consider masculine. It smells a lot like a rose bath bomb to my nose. I'll give it more time and try it again, I don't expect my opinion will change much though.

One day in the class-books you will find under "Oud-rose combo" MANCERA The Aoud. This one is for me the best example of oud-rose fragrance done right. I had to sell it, because I have too many bottles in my "wardrobe" already, but just imagine the oud-rose scent of your dreams gently mixed with warm spices. The Aoud is a Big like!

So, although I really enjoy this scent, I find that I am loving Black Aoud and/or Black to Black more. If anyone is interested in an 80-85% bottle, please PM. I am looking to sell very much on the cheap.

My oud phase was very short. But it happened at a time when I could try various Manceras, including this one, and to my nose this stood out. It is in fact a great perfume for its type. And I think an excellent intro to someone new to oud. One more thing to add, and I know oud purists will complain, but at the time I had also sampled The NIght, and this seemed like a (much) cheaper alternative.

Omg this is powerfull... Compared to black afgano and other powerfull perfumes this is almost to much... Its like a spicy violation off The scenses, it smells old school w The musk and The cloves, I dont know what i think about this one Its like a frankensteins monster mix off two diffrent style.. West meets East..will Come back in a week when ive given this some time.. The pepperyness pleases me but the other notes Will take some time 😂, Uppdate: this one took over my perfume closet... I smell only this now 😗, Its one off The most long lasting and confusing (for me) parfumes i ever owned

Again with Mancera , a very classic arabian blend of rose and oud accord (not the real one of course) but with the utilisation of materials normally reserved for home deodorizer. It smells super cheap but it's powerful and very tenacious and a lot of people seems to consider that as a sign of quality. Too expensive for a home spray

Smells like Montale's Black Aoud with slightly less rose but the aoud note in this one is absolutely foul, it smells like some sort of excrement, I also detect the same accord in Aoud Cafe but not as strongly

The first hour or so is straight up urine! I don't mind animalic, just not this type of animalic. Fail!

Hairspray, pee, a sulphuric rose

Right off the bat the opening smells similar to Aoud SandRoses; Please don't let that scare you into thinking you'll smell the same fragrance so why bother getting both.....in fact, I thought they poured Aoud SandRoses into the bottle and changed the label, however, as it mellows out this goes in a totally different direction-I REPEAT, this goes in a totally different direction than Aoud SandRoses.........as you give it a few minutes you will notice the similarity but it changes very quickly!! [7/27/16] The dry down of this reminds me of Portrait of a Lady; this fragrance is rich, creamy........absolutely lovely and I love it!!! As I have said before, This brand (in my opinion) puts a great deal of quality into their fragrances and the wearer will definitely benefit from it!! Upfront you get the union of Rose and Leather that gives off this nice almost minty floral aroma, with Sandalwood shadowing in the background, however, as the fragrance evolves Saffron and Frankincense take center stage. As these two layer, this beautiful combination of Oud and Geranium comes out and it is out of this world! Ambergris is there but very subtle... As the dry down continues, you are left with this velvety, slightly powdery even smoky essence that is just stunning!!! This fragrance also reminds me of Nevermore-Frapin. I am really loving this! (an Update is forth-coming!) [08/16/16]...the longevity proves to be excellent! The sillage is great; projection is about 12+ hours, as if I just sprayed it on! I can't get enough of the dry down, just amazing!! Overall, I give this a thumbs up for greatness!! I would like to sum this up in one word.........Aoudalicious!!!!! (Picture this, you are watching a NFL football game and the starting line up shares what school they are from...i.e. "The" Ohio State Buckeyes, or "The" University of Southern California...well, I have one too..."The" Aoud from the house of Mancera!

the oud is a more arabian.. indian ..sandelwoody.. less crisp.. and rosy.. that the other ouds.. its not one of my favourites from mancera such as the back to black and the gold intensive oud.. but it still has a place for the real oud lovers.. the old school oud wearers.. a drier straight up oud with a hint of sandelwood ..background rose..and some spice..and inscense.... the perfume is more intense.. more masculine.. due to the lack of rosines ..its dirtier.. in essense ..its almost sandy ..its a bit more on the vulgar side ..its also not as opulant.. its deep ..mysterious ..dark wintery ...a skin scent that will react differently on each individual ..can be a unisex.. can be a base for so many florientals or orientals or even other mancersa ..mancera is a line made for layering ..freely.. and successfully.. with each other.. or with other perfumes.. and esscense for they are perfumes still have this natural lack of synaestheticness which makes them perfect ground for layering..

It is an amazing Sweet and Sour combination where background rose, oud and leather plays an integral part making it slightly bitter and smoky, maybe because of incense. the spices are present uptop but never takes over the rose + oud + leather. it gets creamier and creamier with progression, you can depict the sandalwood as well. it is a masculine handsome scent but overall dirtier with a bit of old school vibe, making it modern classic. i dont find it a very very heavy scent but it gives a good 2 hours of projection and over 8 hours of longevity. Perfect for Winters Not an office scent its a good offering for perfume collectors but not something that will draw alot of compliments. if you are a mature person, above 35, it will suit you for parties and even casually. LITTLE UPDATE: If you like layering: use this and any other coffee based perfume. It is a fabulous combination.

ok i deleted my previous review , and im back with another review about this. So far i have let 3 other people smell this , straight out of the box and first whiff upon unscrewing the cap was phew with a cringing look on their face LOL . BUT i on the other hand am starting to appreciate this fragrance for its complexity , and i think less of it is more , 1 spray is all you need , any more than that will be like a stink bomb going off . i put 1 spray and the drydown was quite pleasant and beautifull with a very nice musky red/pink rose leathery odour . OH my cat just came into my room and i quickly unscrewed the cap and let him have a smell SAME scary cringing look on his face as he jumped off my bed and ran off in disgust LMFAO .

I have an untrained nose but I know what I like or beter saying, what my skin likes. This oudh is the purest I've tryed so far. I think this one is really for oudh lovers as I smell it all the way through as the main player. It holds the caneel and cloves far behind and just a little bit to soften the composition. Sometimes I can smell dryed petals and the cloves but not much. I keep waiting for something more as spices and flowers, something sweet that does not come at all. For my womanly side it is too much oudh. Perfumes have no gender but this one is made for gentlemans absolutely.

This is strong, intense and on your face - at least initially. It does dry down but the intensity is pretty persistent. A work colleague lived in Dubai for a time and says this type of (oudh-heavy) scent is a (pleasant) reminder. The oudh and rose are dominant on me (wish there was a bit more leather evident!!). It smells expensive. If I'm honest, it's even a bit femme until the initial blast of rose fades. After that, it's all hairy-chested and 'don't mess with me!". I love it. And got myself a back-up!

Oud, Oud and then some! But it starts off medicinal, this is not just the usual animalic filth, it develops a little dirtier over time, but for several hours what you get is a strong and pungent spicy Oud. Very well blended, very masculine After several hours the leather and rose notes become more distinctive but the spicy barnyard aspect of Oud is ever present reigning supreme over all notes. Longevity and sillage are literally enormous, another plus! Mancera is a brand worth exploring. Very impressed!

Guys, If you're looking for a rose based fragrance, with the oriental vibe, then go for this one. The notes listed above are surprising me because I dont get any cinnamon, neither cloves, neither white pepper. During the first 10 second I detect a banana like smell, which is pretty strange, then it fade away thanks God ! The main player note here is : Rose EDIT : IM FREAKING PISSED OFF, I JUST WROTE AN ENTIRE HALF PAGE REVIEW AND IT JUST DISAPPEAR! HARGHHHH

Absolutely incredible fragrance I took a chance on a blind buy as it was on offer at Allbeauty in Southampton for £40 and it is stunning, just purchased a backup bottle at the same place in their sale now £30. If you are in Southampton area really worth visiting they have lots of Amourage Tom Ford and tons of other niche, speak to Rachel she really knows her perfumes and is really helpful. Stunning perfume!!

This is the one which actually brought me into Oud based perfumes.Basically am a gourmand lover but damn this one is absolutely awesome and the combination of oud and leather, along with sandalwood, is just a perfect blend..the best compliment i got on this, while i was wearing it in the office "This is so intoxicating". This perfume and YSL M7 Oud Absolut will always be a part of my perfume collection.

I think this one could have done without the clove. I don't like how it combines with the rose. With that said its a nice fragrance and should be nothing out of the ordinary for those familiar with rose oud combos and if you're on this site that's likely the case. That damn clove tho... After wearing this one on the regular I've come to terms with the clove and it no longer bothers me.

Mancera The Aoud smells nothing like Black Aoud. There is no patchouli and the rose is very tame. Its mainly agarwood and musk blended with some rose and saffron. Even Kilian uses synthetic oud, his fragrances do not even last. All fragrance houses use synthetic oud. The Aoud is a very well done fragrance and this coming from someone who has Oud attars.

First, no aoud whatsoever. There is a barely detectable, slightly animalic rose in the far drydown. This is a MUSK fragrance - musk, musk, musk and more musk. A very good representation of musk; maybe one of the better musk fragrances to be released in the past 20 years. Very one-dimensional, but good for layering. Utterly bombastic performance.

a black oud Montale clone. synthetic oud and rose. nothing remarkable. getting tired of such "oud" trend. oud smells like animals or "nature". if you smell real oud once you can spot the difference easily. The Aoud is such an underrated gem. It’s a beautifully soft, beginner‐friendly oud that never tries to overpower - more of a quiet whisper than a shout. Smooth, subtle, and surprisingly elegant, it’s the kind of fragrance you grow to appreciate the more you wear it. Truly a shame it’s been discontinued.

Virtually the same as Montale Black Aoud, Black Aoud is a little more rose dominant, Mancera The Aoud is a little spicier with the cloves & cinnamon, Other than that there is not a lot to split them apart, especially in the dry down!

It's our "Dry Season" - the coolest time of the year - sunny, clear blue skies, a light crisp breeze and a bare 27C - luvverly. And my stinky of choice today? Mancera's "The Aoud" - it is just fantastic - transcendent!

Excellent oud fragrance! Very clean and bright, less medical than Montale's similar compositions. Pretty unisex, not too rosy and sweet, super long lasting. Really good stuff!!!

I'm very surprised it's comparable to Aoud by Roja Dove. Purely Middle East although Made In France. Pretty disappointed it has been discontinued.

Got this as a present from an arabic friend. Wow! What an awesome fragrance. Reminds me of walks in woody forests.
