Selene (SEΛENE)

This is straight up pretty! When you want to smell pretty but elegant and don't give it a second thought. It has that airy quality, so if you're looking for a bomb this is not it, and is blended to perfection like all the MG perfumes. It's citrusy in a very subdued way, then you get a smidge of white flowers, but light in spring breeze kind of way, and you have something sweet to give it a nice twist, but again very airy, very smooth. The whole MG line was a revelation, they have a classic way of being put together, no experiments, no discordant notes, but I think this one is the prettiest one for me. I almost wish they made it stronger, but maybe that's the beauty of it. Perfect for spring and summer!

I already own Methexis and thought I would try another from this house. I picked up Selene as I was looking for a soft, feminine fragrance that was not same same that I have smelled a thousand times. This fragrance is absolutely beautiful and unique but I must admit, it is not ground breaking or out of this world. It is simply elegant and well put together. I think it's perfectly suitable for all year round and for any age. It's not juvenile or too old lady. I am thrilled with it and will wear it a lot I'm sure. If you are looking for a beautiful fragrance to wear to work or just want to smell great on the daily, I can't recommend this more highly. Safe blind buy IMHO.

"Selene" by Manos Gerakinis is a trip to a Greek summer night in a bottle. Starts fresh with grapefruit and bergamot, then blooms into a floral heart with a sweet praline twist. It settles into a cozy mix of sandalwood and musk, perfectly capturing the vibe of watching a movie under the stars in Athens. Fresh, floral, and a bit sweet - it's summer, nostalgia, and romance all rolled into one. Absolutely love it!

First wearing today after purchasing a sample from Shy Mimosa. I was really excited about this one as I'm a huge fan of Methexis, it's one of my favourite scents. I also enjoy Immortelle and have generally been impressed by the quality and artistry of this house, plus this one sounded like something I'd love. The initial impression is a sweet floral citrus, along with a very green floral note, it must be the petitgrain, but it borders on smelling like a green tuberose a little. There is a rounded, sweet almost caramel type impression also. After a few minutes the green aspect fades, and it becomes a light, sweet citric floral - pleasant but honestly a tad generic (although I will say it doesn't resemble anything in particular I've smelt before - it's not strong / sugary / defined enough to be like Perdizione or those sweet orange blossom scents). I'm almost 4 hours in to the wear and it's lightly detectable on my skin but is undoubtedly petering out. I can't say I notice any of the basenotes, and my early impression of this is that it just hasn't got enough oomph to really stick around. I totally appreciate its mid November in the UK at time of writing, and perhaps this scent will shine in warmer weather, so I think I will retest then in the hopes it's a temperature thing. Sillage has been pretty minimal too, but again maybe it's just not the time for this. Nice, but a bit weak both in performance and scent profile/identity, although I do think Methexis is a very unique scent so perhaps expecting something on that level was setting the bar too high. If you're looking for an elegant sweet orange blossom that isn't heavy at all, and find LDBS, Perdizione, Solar Blossom etc to all be too strong/sweet and artificial, maybe this could be for you, however I think this may be too subtle for me 😁

While this is pleasant, it’s rather generic smelling, to me anyways. Nothing about it really stands out to me. I get a lot of orange blossom and jasmine, that’s mostly all I smell and some light musk lingering in the background. It’s very light wearing as well, skin scent territory so it would be a nice office wear if you’re into orange blossom scents but for me it’s too boring.

Smells like a sweetly perfumed 19 year old waitress after her smoke break. Love.
