Bang

FINALLY...a second fragrance from Marc Jacobs. I really don't know why someone would compare the ad for this to Tom Ford for Men, that ad had a flacon over a WOMAN'S genital area and it was a close up of only that area...this has Marc in all his newfound glory(he used to be quite dumpy with a curly helmet of hair and glasses and wore baggy sweat pants to his own fashion shows) on a metallic sheet(echoing the flacon) and he's covering his maleness with the bottle. The name and the image are meant to make an impact (and from the reviews here, it had the desired effect!). The bald man someone thought he was was most likely Michael Stipe in an ad taken in a bathroom wearing MJ jeans and shirt... I waited to try this when I was given the sample spray but was quite intrigued by the smell on others around me(I did not want to mix it with Givenchy's Gentleman)and tried it the next day. This is everything his first male scent wasn't. The blend of peppercorns in the top are reminiscient of 5 pepper blend freshly grated. The woody heart comes on strong and the base is absolutely stunning...the elemi and benzoin create a slightly vanillic resinous haze that is grounded by the earthy combination of vetiver's green dryness, patchouli's dirty sweetness and the oakmoss' loamy sharpness. As this dries on the skin all the levels of development seem to blend-the spicy woodiness and the incensy earthiness is what I can only describe as super sexy and ultramascline! This is not a powerhouse fragrance but it is powerful in the way that pheremones are powerful. You smell it and you may not know why but you are strangely drawn to it even though it may register at first as "too much"... Sillage: good Longevity: above average Overall: 4.25/5 When I first received the PR on this, despite the notes listed, I expected it to have a modern or metallic sheen to its scent but it did not and I'm glad. I am hoping this is the first in a series of woody/spicy/earthy mens scent trend, not copies of older scents but modern interpretations that aren't aquatic, transparent or citrusy...

Classic and cutting edge in the same breath, Bang is an original without deviating too far from the standards set for its time. The fragrance itself is a rugged and earthy woods mixed with a blast of spice over a base palette of resin and burning coal. It smells like an old 20th century lumber mill surrounded by woods in northern Quebec in mid-October. This is impressive as a work of ingenuity because the designers were able to find a balance between shock and classical elements in the overall blend they constructed. Gottlieb and Vasnier stick to a palette that compliments each other note and conveys an overall theme of damp woods, spice, resin and earthy minerals. The composers find a nice compromise of classic and modern, with 1970's and 1980's stalwarts present in the warm emissions of the benzoin, patchouli and oakmoss that mix beautifully with the pink pepper and black pepper to create a subtle work of integrity. This one won't garner a lot of compliments in clubs or on dates. It's a fragrance best suited for work, travel or casual weekends in the fall, late winter and early spring. Bang! has a fantastic therapeutic element to it. It's best suited for the pleasure of the wearer itself and for me, has been a very calming force on stressful days where I need to publicly speak for 4-5 hours in front of big crowds. When I inhale it, it immediately brings me back to the woods of my childhood and soothes my worries away. The subtlety of this fragrance is quite remarkable. It won't impose itself on your or others, but rest assured, it's there and it's leaving a significant scent trail. It gives off a rather East Indian table spice meets murky woods and wet rain forest just after a mid-day storm meets rocky & muddy river bottom vibe that sets it apart from a lot of other contemporaries. If you want something original for your collection, this is something to get your nose on.

Man!!!! I cannot tell you how much I love this fragrance. This has been a favorite of mine for many years. This is now the third bottle I’ve owned and I’m still blown away by how good it is (for my tastes that it) BANG! Is a bone dry, woody-spicy fragrance with lots of really nice character. The blend of pink and black pepper is great, it’s got the perfect backing of dry woods, and there is a faint clean smokiness that comes through. It’s everything I love in a fragrance! To me, this is a cross between: Creed Spice and Wood (although that is fresher and a little lighter due to the apple) and CDG Wonderwood (wonderwood is richer and more complex) there is also a similarity to Montale Intense Pepper but the Montale drydown is really different and also their pepper note is totally different. What I like best about this fragrance is how easy it is to wear but how great it smells (and different to what the majority of designer fragrances bring to the table) the times I’ve worn this I’ve been complimented every single time. It goes with casual clothes and also is great for work and even great for a date with someone special. It’s also a fragrance you can layer with other fragrances (for instance for a really complex concoction you can layer Wonderwood with Bang and it’s great!) This and Wonderwood are my signature scents and I will forever love this fragrance. I wish longevity was better but it does better on clothing than on skin with that. Silage is a medium too although sometimes I can smell this radiating from me (when it’s hot and humid) If you like dry woody-spice this is your fragrance!

I know this has been discontinued for years now but I feel it deserves a review anyway because of how much I adore this. Firstly I should say it’s my husband who wears this and it’s my all time favourite men’s fragrance. Its super masculine, spicy yet fresh, sexy and addictive. It smells sooooo expensive to me, the kind of scent a refined gentleman would wear. I think if it was released now it would do super well especially if it was packaged in a TF bottle. I feel it was a bit too ahead of it’s time when it came out. Men were wearing softer, ambery, more feminine leaning fragrances at the time. This as the name suggests was loud and masculine and powerful. I fear men found it too grown up smelling at the time. These are just my opinions and I can see in the comments not all young men were unaware of it’s tremendousness. It satisfies me to see so many other comments from folk screaming for Marc Jacobs to bring this back. I concur. Before I go, I just wanted to say I don’t agree this has poor longevity and I would admit if it did no matter how much I’m blinded by love for this scent. I can smell this on my husband for a good 6-8 hours and his clothes still smell of bang the next day. Go on Marc, please BRING IT BACK

I love the teak wood in this fragrance. It reminds me of a teak wood chess set that mad dad has had for the entirety of my life. When I smell it, I become reminiscent of the times when I was younger and my father would teach me how to play and how throughout my lift, he would break it out and we would play to see if I had gotten better. Because of my associated experiences with the scent, BANG makes me think of experience, intelligence, the careful refinment that can be found in art as well as humanity. It reminds me of my elders who are always happy to share their thoughts, feelings, memories, and experiences with me. These shared ideas are an inheritance that is more valuable than money and is something that cannot be taxed. This scent embodies WISDOM itself. It is a scent that a philosopher would wear.

MJ’s Bang is a very interesting perfume – but, I must say it, not a very, very original one: Bang will definitely remind you Terre d’Hermes (the way that Byblos’ In Black – created in 2011 – will remind you MJ’s Bang, created in 2010). Nevertheless, it is a well blended and a truly atractive scent. If you’re a “woody aromatic” kind of nose, Bang will be an explosion of pleasure on your chest. I dare to say that a special woman will know how to use it also, as an unisex elixir. Rather light, but with 6 or 7 shots you will have it on your skin for half a day. Deeper than Byblos In Black and somehow sober & more mature that Terre d’Hermes, MJ’s Bang remains a genuine revelation for those in love with the spices (as I am). A deserved 8,5/10.

I love this one!!! I was very turned off by it initially when I first smelled it back in 2010. For that reason, I waited for everyone else to buy it knowing all along that eventually I would give it another sniff when the price hit rock bottom. Low and behold - this thing is GORGEOUS on me! Yeah, its pretty spicy, dry and woody, but I find it suits me (25 year-old guy) quite well. After you get past the heavy spice explosion (first 5mins), there's something quite smooth and appealing about it. I dig it! I'm comfortable wearing this with casual or dressy clothes, but that's just me. I'm just happy to have this in my collection! Not sure if I'll get a lot of positive feedback, but we'll see how that goes. 9.5/10

I like this one. It smells to me like dirt and gun powder, but in a good way. Its very masculine and unlike anything else on the market except for maybe Coriolan Guerlain (which also has gun powder notes). I must say it starts strong but does not last long on the skin at all. It def must be worn with the after shave moisturizer for lasting power. Found the whole line at Marshall's (balm, spray, deodorant, shower gel) for a steal. A great buy if you can find it at a discount retailer. Also, all Marc Jacobs bottles are too artsy and hard to hold. This one is no different and you can't tell when you are running low due to the opaque bottle. Still worth a try if you haven't experienced it yet.

I don't like this concept. The ad, the bottle ... so I was reserved towards Bang, but wanted to try it. Darn! This stuff is amazing! Take dry earthy vetiver from Encre Noire, smooth it with gentle aromatic resins and polish it with light woods, add some natural light in person of bright sparkling pepper ... and get a smartly composed, beautifully developing cold season fragrance. No citrus or sweet notes? I'm delighted! This is charismatic, picking you up in a way that you won't even notice you're quite obsessed with this modern, sharp as hell, not well-behaved but so seductive & charming man. Well, not necessarily man... Because next time I'm gonna test in on MY own skin. ...I'm heated.

burly, masculine and powerful, i ADORE this fragrance it is in the top 3 of my 17 frag arsenal. the scent itself channels a lot of pepper and even though that sounds a bit intimidating on paper it manages to work and is so incredibly seductive and delicious. the dry-down leaves u in an enjoyable midpoint between manly brutality and a comfortable versatile scent. the longevity last a good 7-8 hours and the projection is extremely good, all and all i would give it a 9o.o10 (and the bottle is amazing, how cool is that bottle, i dare u to tell me u don't love that bottle!) :)

Ahh this perfume.. It was year 2011, i was in the summer school of the university. At that time i had a rich boy friend, who was 7+older than me- this was a cool combination at that time for teenage girls like myself... anyways.. One night after having party with my friends he came to pick me up. When i got in the car, oh my got. This perfume glamorized me and i started kissing and smelling him non stop. And you can imagine how the night ended. Since then i always mention about this perfume as women killer 😄 i can still remember how amazing this perfume was.. yeah.

Bang smacks me with strong (but pleasant) pepper and cedar plank, but it would not turn one into a well-seasoned piece of meat. To me, it smells like a cologne version of Terre d'Hermes with extra pepper, or Burberry Beat with extra pepper, or the combination of all. It's peppery and cedar'y, and it becomes mossy and dried grassy at the base. Phew! I didn't get much of patchouli! MJ Bang is pretty good and I like it, especially love the bottle. I would definitely get one as soon as I find it at a reasonable price.

Well, this is terrible unfair. Because I tried today, in the airport stores, one of the most amazing fragrances I tried lately, and I was so sure is a feminine fragrance, in spite of the shape and color of the bottle. But no, men have to enjoy this one too :)))) I sincerely consider it unisex, and probably I will even purchase it very soon. It is so soft, so sweet and so taught in the same time, so sexy and so wild, and on my skin turned into something calming and attractive.

I picked this one up cheaply and have to say it is a fairly good fragrance. I feel, however, it is misnamed. There is not so much of a bang as a fizzle, or maybe a pop to this one. It starts off with the sharpness of peppery notes, though these are for my tastes a little understated (Oscar by Oscar de la Renta does it much better). After a very brief time it starts to smell like a subdued version of Terre d' Hermes. Nothing earth-shattering here.

I LOVE MARC JACOBS!!! Hes my absolute favorite designer!! Ive been dying for him to come out w/ a new mens scent!!! I cant believe its been 10 yrs since the original! The original is wonderful!! Bang is gonna be wonderful!! It sounds amazing!!! And what a fun & crazy name and bottle!! Marc Jacobs is BRILLIANT!! I CANT WAIT!!! This is and will be the most exciting release of the yr for me!!! BANG BANG!!! Were BEAUTIFUL & DIRTY RICH!!! LOL!! : )

It's awesome. It's unique. It's peppercorn goodness done right. If you like spices as much as I do you will love it... it's different than anything most people around you will be wearing, and people will be intrigued with it. Wear it if you want to stand out for a moment. Honestly I don't find it too strong. Yep, it's a fanatic blast at initial spraying but it does tame out quite nicely. Happy Sneezing!

I really like this scent. A good masculine scent for the colder weather. Good projection and decent longevity, 2 or 3 sprays max is sufficient I think. This style is a try before buy for sure. People say that it reminds them of TDH, I can understand that for sure, but also quite different. If you are looking to get a fragrance that is truly a masculine scent, then give this one a shot.

Marc Jacobs Bang, yes, it is a pepper bomb! It smells very masculine and is all about the pepper. I get decent longevity 6-8 hours, and good projection for the first few hours. I do receive compliments with this one and it smells really good. Plus, to use a pun, if you buy this at a discounter, it will give you bang for the buck. Great fragrance and great price. 9.5 of 10.

Purchased (2) bottles at a local Marshalls for 19.99 recently blindly assuming it would make a good gift even if I hated it ,and wasant aware of how much these going for I left 3 that were gone after I found out , but the smell is great nice peppery spicy seductive almost spicy powdery hard to describe but I'm enjoying it and have plenty so minus well enjoy it

This is not a bad fragrance, that depends on the person's nose. You can either love it or hate it. I love it. It smells "different" from the ordinary stuff sold in the stores. Yes, it has a strong pepper smell, but I really like it. To me it is not cloying at all, I can handle it, and it lasts very long. One of the few designer juices that I love.

It is very similar to Lalique Encre noire, but it smells much more stylish, fresh and sexy. Lalique bitterness is mixed with vetyver and creates a dreamy scent. It is a perfume that accompanies looks and heads along your path and the most courageous of them comes forward and asks the name of your perfume. It is unique.

Open your spice cabinet .Take out the black pepper .Open the container and sniff.This is 85% of what Bang smells like to me -the other 15% is cedar/patchouli and maybe a touch of sweetness-benzoin.I like the fragrance and plan to purchase at least one bottle .(even though the advertising was not to my taste.)

I loved this for me not my man. I also love the blatant sexuality of the name. Wish I had bought it when I saw it at duty free 30% off. I dont remember exactly what it smelled like but spicy and earthy are the lingering scents. And I remember thinking the name Bang is not quite right - more of quiet kiss.

Oh dear, oh dear...what an amazing combination of just few notes, very merry peppy and pepperry as no.1, then sweet and mossy woods at the heart, and finally long farewell of exquisitely blended tones whispering this line in your ear: "goodnight, I'll sniff you tomorrow again." Oh dear..

I find the campaign and the bottle and the name sexy as hell, to begin with. Yep it's pepper. Nothing but pepper. Pepper all the way. Meaning aphrodisiac, potentially classic and bravely unique. Pepper in a work-of-art container. And there is nothing wrong with that.

Zara A Night ve CDG Blackpepper'da kullanıyorum ancak bunun etkisi sanki bir başkaydı. Belki de benim bu DNA'da kokladığım ilk parfümlerdendi o yüzden. İltifatı bol , yayılımı son derece yüksek bir kokuydu. Aklımda güzel hatıralar ile artık ne yazık ki piyasada yok.

Wild that so many people only want to associate pepper with this, which it has really only at the start, but it’s the drydown that’s the best part. Everyone adding anything with a peppery note to the smells like section are missing the point.

Bang by Marc Jacobs absolutely hypnotic scent! Discovered by accident and can't forget it anymore. Scent is like true Piece of Art - feels so mysterious , so masculine, so intriguing. Such pity that no longer produced.

Does anyone else find this fragrance to be a less fresh and weaker version of Burberry The Beat? Good spicy opening but on me it dries down to almost nothing in no time at all. I am a bigger fan of The Beat.

Love this smell with the heavy pepper that dries down into a ceader smell that is amazing. The only thing I am critical about this scent is it becomes invisable to the wearer quickly after application.

One of my all time favourites. It’s sad they discontinued this one. This was for sure ahead of its time. Might be a good idea for MJ to launch this again? 😍✨

I am so dying for this one. one of my favorite. very dry and spicy.

I like this - as a lover of pepper in my fragrances, I was attracted to Bang by Marc Jacobs. It came in a pair-purchase of two fragrances (the other being YSL M7!) so I had little to lose. It goes on strong - with loud pink pepper dominating, then transitioning to a blend with white and black pepper mixed in. I thought this would be more synthetic, possibly even a mess - it is hardly such and very well-done, in my opinion. Definitely a polarizing scent, but this is actually well-composed and has both very good longevity and projection. In addition, it could be a scent that layers well. All-in-all, this will (ironically) probably get more wear than the M7 bottle it came with that I was after, but that is a more "special" scent the exudes sensuality. This is just plain good, tasteful & fun! Kudos to Ann Gottlieb for this creation. The wood notes come in after the first 10-15 minutes and seems to "smother" the pepper a bit on my skin, but as the drydown occurs...integration. I give credit for intelligent use of elemi (another fantastic ingredient I seek out in fragrances - it blends incredibly well with pepper...no better example than Oscar for Men by Oscar de la Renta.) The benzoin is turned down, thankfully. I didn't want this to go towards any sweetness and it doesn't. The patchouli, clean vetiver note and white moss give a nice base to the wood. I don't really get much more than a touch of additional warmth and earthiness from the patchouli with the vetiver. The wood from the heart actually stays well into the base - with pepper holding up throughout. For pepper lovers - this is an absolute must-try! Even those who want a spicy, masculine scent that can be worn casually or blended into a wearing. This is hard to quantify, because of my affinity for pepper...but, personally I like it (a lot) and could see it layering well with many citrus scents that I have (including Eau de Colognes) and also pure wood scents that can be blended (including CoSTUME National Homme). Just a single spray (or two at night) with a nice, fragrant citrus and Bang could become more than a scent to wear by itself - which I will do as well. Same goes for the wood scents in the cooler weather - with a couple more additional sprays upon application. One can adjust "how" much pepper they want with their wood and there is already a nice wood in this composition! Well done...cheers.

HIT and RUN... What does a highway collision smell like? Marc Jacobs has the answer: Flying debris in all-kinds-of-spicy... metal piercing through warm leatherette... trickling fuel hits sizzling hot tarmac, and then... BANG ! opens with an explosion of pepper, everywhere. After the cacophony, a whiff of something reminiscent of cinnamon "tic-tacs" reorients my nose for the dry-down: The aftermath is a heavy sprinkling of pepper over a pile of smouldering cedar and vetiver, with the resinous engine hum of benzoin left running in the background. A pinch of oakmoss and patchouli lend depth and acerbic tang to an otherwise dry and desolate crime scene. The tone is moody, but not grim - thanks to a life-giving hint of rosy sweetness from the pink peppercorns. Bang! is a simple, linear scent - propelled by a soft, close-to-body sillage. You might not smell it at times, but others can. It's essentially an "Aura" scent, and quite unique. This diffusive yet intense overdose of pepper is intriguing. Blended on top of resinous wood in a way that comes off as both polished and raunchy; natural and unnatural; edgy but brooding. I dig it. But it's far from the bombastic, metal protruding, attention grabbing "Banger" it's marketing would have you believe. Frankly, I'd take this sultry simmering pepper-pod, over yet another mass-appealing "club-banger" - any day. Bang! is uncomplicated, unconventional, and uncompromising in its sense of style. Marc Jacobs made a bold move with this unlikely candidate (in the 2010 designer marketplace), amid a landscape of child-pacifying confections that pander to Gucci pocketbooks with bubble-gum taste. Love the dented and mangled bottle reminiscent of something from David Cronenberg's CRASH! Just like that film, Bang! made little impact on the mass market. But is nonetheless a hit with me. It's Bang on ! LONGEVITY: 7/10 (in base) PROJECTION: (Fall temp): 6.0/10 ART/CREATIVES: 8.5/10 (bottle,composition) HOW: versatile, work or play, goes with dark leather. best for spring and fall, any age.

This is my very 1st dive into this fragrance house. Found the big 100ml bottle at TJ Maxx for $25. Like the person a couple of reviews below mine... They're spot on. This fragrance is legit ALLLLL about pepper. Literally theee single most peppery fragrance I've ever smelled in my life. In that sense...I also would consider it quite unique. Unique...however, unique does not necessarily mean complex. It's actually an extremely simplistic fragrance. Imagine taking the empty bottle of cologne...and throwing in the pepper notes and alcohol...and you have imagined exactly what this smells like. I'm very on the fence about this one. I absolutely HATE the initial blast. It's way too much to my nose. It's so peppery...it's border line obnoxious. However...I kept smelling my wrist every couple of minutes and after the scent calmed down for about 15 minutes...it started to smell like it had tamed itself a bit and I could smell the masculine appeal to this fragrance. Deff is not a fragrance for me...but I can still say it's somewhat pleasant (after that initial 15 minutes.) I would give the scent itself... a 5 or 6 out of 10. Longevity - About 3-4 hours depending on amount of sprays. Sillage - A good 2-3 feet for the first hour and then about half the distance for remainder of the life of it. This deff has to be worn on the right person and deff should not be oversprayed as it may be a unique fragrance...but I would NOT classify it as an inoffensive fragrance. Not at all. Careful with this one guys. And also to add...this is NOT a safe blind buy. (I blind bought this fragrance and will probably only wear it 1 or 2 times per year. I must say however...the bottle is BEAUTIFUL and JUST as original as the scent. Overall Score - 6/10

"رایحه این عطر شبیه رایحه برگ اکالیپتوس هست با شدت 70 درصد از تند و تیزی رایحه برگ اکالیپتوس در ذهن من. شرح رایحه: رایحه ای شبیه رایحه گرم کاج که از صمغ المی موجود در این عطر هست(کاج رایحه ای چوبی معطر و گرم با مقداری تلخی ترشی و شیرینی) که ترکیب شده با رایحه فلفل سیاه که مقداری حس فلفل و خاکی به رایحه گرم کاج داده. رایحه خزه درختی هم باعث شده فضای کلی رایحه کمی دارای حس تلخ کف جنگل بشه. اما یک حس سرد و باطراوت هم در لحظاتی پیوسته در فضای کلی عطر به مشامم میرسه. نمی دونم از چی هست. جوری که انگار از حس سرمای موجود در پس تندی و معطر بودن حس برگ اکالیپتوس به مشام بیاد. کمی بعد به نظرم علاوه بر وجود حس تلخ گیاهی چوبی خاکی، انگار عطر به سمت حس شیرین هم تمایل پیدا میکنه. آن حس سرد که گفتم و نمی دونم منشا آن از چه هست باعث شده علی رغم حس گرم در رایحه، حتی در فصل گرم اگر استفاده بشه راضی کننده و انرژی بخش باشه. به نظرم در مواقع معتدل، گرم و شاید خنک نه سرد، این عطر قابل استفاده هست. پخش و ماندگاریش هم متوسطه. یادمه سال 90 بود، تابستان این سال، با این عطر در عطرافشان آشنا شدم. و اون تعریف هیجان انگیز این عطر توسط عطرافشان که هنوز عینا در صفحه این عطر هست، من رو مدام حرکت میداد که بخرمش. من از سال 86، با کمک سایت عطرافشان و یک سایت دیگر، تونستم به مرور عطرها رو بیشتر ببینم و حس علاقه جدیدی نسبت به عطرها در مقایسه با قبل حس کنم. هر چند که یادمه اولین عطری که خریدم سال 75 یا 76 بود. عطر زرو وان انگلیسی بود که عکس یک پسر خوشتیپ با کاپشن چرم نشته بر صندلی و دو دختر خانم مو بلند با کاپشن چرم کنارش ایستاده بودند روی جعبه آن. بعدش عطر د مموری آف تایتانیک بود که عکس جک و رز اصلی در کنار هم داشت و ..."

I love this fragrance. Definitely a nice bang when you initially apply. I don’t get the best longevity out of it but I’m getting at least three hours on a hot day. I'm not one of those guys that gets great longevity from anything usually. Btw, this isn’t the best frag for a hot day if you are outside sweating your arse off. People may not know where your funk ends and this thing starts. It lives on the dark side. Definite woodsy/peppery overall tone. After the initial blast of the top notes, one of the peppers drops away and leaves the other. I’m not sure which one is the dominant but it’s definitely there. I see that pepper is not listed in the bottom note, but that’s not what my nose is telling me. I can continually smell the vetiver, patchouli, moss, and wood notes. The particular wood note I’m getting is guaiac wood. I haven’t heard anyone else say it, but I think this is similar to Azzaro Visit on the dry-down. At least it serves the exact same type of purpose and situation that Visit would also be suitable for if you like that one. I am also a big fan of AV. Cheers.

Fragrance in three words: Fresh Powdery Pepper This is a discontinued and sort after fragrance. It's not mega rare or a holy grail and sold really well at the time, enough to warrant a flanker, Bang Bang. Current prices seem to be around £80 for the bigger bottles. When launched I think the price was around £40 for 100ml. This uses a unique combination of three types of pepper (Black, Pink and White). It is noticeably peppery, but I don't get the pungency of the black pepper. Drydown is a sort of woody and very clean powdery scent which is undeniably masculine. it would maybe be considered old school now, given vanilla, cocoa and amber have become the base notes of choice. I know a lot of people have reported poor longevity and projection with this and I can see why. I might have been fortunate in that it lasted around 4-5 hours with medium projection. Like Karma Chameleon "it comes and goes". I smelt nothing after an hour and then Bang it was back as strong as when it was first applied. It's nothing amazing, but I really enjoyed it. I was literally on a hunt since 2011 to find this again. Back then I wasn’t into peppery frags, did overlook. But then it became a favorite note in my perfumery journey. Today I found a full 100 ml bottle in an underground perfume shop. I was so excited, sprayed with the thought that i would definitely buy as it is so rare and it is considered a pepper masterpiece. But i did not. Back then Bang was unique but today I felt unimpressed. I might still get it to sell, but honestly when you have CdG Blackpepper (Bang was the reason I was holdin' up to buy Blackpepper, yeah), there’s no need for this one. Even Bentley Infinite Rush can fulfill my desire for Bang. Sorry to the fans, but this is what i felt today. It opens with a blast of pepper, amazing. But then it doesnt stick, pepper is so diffusive, it just goes away in few minutes. Then i'm left with a smell of faint peppers and more something like incense-ish and dry resins. Performance was not good overall, I think if Bang was on the market today, it wouldn’t be high in the ranks.

Before I start, let me say that I feel the 'Bang' name, oversexualized advertising and avantgarde bottle are totally out of tune with this fragrance. For me, Bang is a paragon of quiet masculine authority and understated elegance. I think I can hear you laughing! But once you get past that culinary blast of freshly milled peppercorns this becomes a minor classic. There is a short-lived sweetness from the middle notes (I sometimes get cinnamon, sometimes nutmeg but neither are listed) and then it's very much like a Terre d'Hermes 'Light' from there on. Like Terre, this is a noble, arrid gentleman's frag, not as you may have thought, a greased-up psychotic playboy frag! Anyway, it's just a shame they got this target audience so wrong. I hope that men of good taste will ignore the marketing and try this regardless. Just imagine Sam Shepard circa 1980 looking pensively across a wheatfield and a classic bottle shaped like a vintage Guerlain's!

I'm surprised after reading some of the reviews of Bang! I never heard of it and decided to buy it just because. I was so excited to get home and smell what I bought; sort of like a present to open and find out what it is. I didn't see the bottle from the box but when I pulled it out, I fell in love with the design. I just love to have the bottle on my dresser because of the look. As for the cologne, I enjoy it. Yes, the peppers are bold but to me, very different and the cologne seems to be full of character. I've had it for almost a month but with more than 50 bottles, I worn it quite a few times. I think I've taken a break because a friend wears it and, I'm not sure how I like it on him so when I wear it, I'm reminded of him so, I think I've slowed down in wearing it. Definitely daytime, spring/ summer and maybe even fall. It's an in-your-face smell that screams "I'm different!" I like it. My name is Mike and I APPROVE this review!

The opening of this scent is a blast of pepper, both black and pink, spicy and sweet at the same time. It's wonderful, in my opinion, but I can see how it might be too sharp and invasive for others. If you like this opening, I have bad news. It dies out within 10 minutes. No joke, no exaggeration, these top notes disappear faster than any top notes I've ever experienced. What's left is the powdery scent of benzoin and resin working together with the "wet earth" notes of vetiver and oak moss, which, in combination with a whisper of leftover black pepper, somehow combines to create a kind of light cinammon scent. It smells very much like the cinammon dry down of Halston's Z-14. The projection is very weak after that first 10 minutes, and the longevity also leaves much to be desired. It's a skin scent in less than an hour. A very exciting and beautiful accord, no doubt, but it needs to last about five times longer to be worth it.

There are a fair amount of dislikes on this one but not from this guy. I am a big time pepper lover. Bang is very much to my liking. Many of the pepper fragrances that I have tend to be softened with either some citrus or freshness of some sort. Bang is pure pepper smell on the open. Almost to the point of sneezing. I know this sounds bizarre but I really dig that. The bottle is unique. Like dented, twisted metal. Totally adds to the masculinity of this fragrance. This fragrance is strong in all aspects. Strong vibe in the box and bottle presentation and strong pepper, wood and earth on the nose. Bang is definitely a fragrance you will really enjoy or really dislike. I'm not sure there's much gray area on this one. I'm in the really like/love camp.

I'm a latecomer to Marc Jacobs BANG! I remember it coming out....who could miss that bottle right? Perhaps I did spray it but I didn't pay it much attention until now. BANG!!! This is mega spicy. The extreme end of the dry, peppery, scale and unique in how far it goes with the theme, especially for a designer perfume. I had expected the new V&R Spicebomb to be like this but I'm kind of glad it wasn't in a sense, going more heavy with sweeter spices like cinnamon and anise. I do like this fragrance a lot because its so hardcore into that sweaty, JCE spice of Declaration or something, but I'm not sure I'd wear it a lot. Just briefly on the bottle...it's a really bizarre shape and stands out on the shelf not sure I like it though.

I love this scent! Honestly speaking it reminds me of a strong scent of pine trees. Maybe it's because of the woodsy notes combined with the resin and the pepper. In the dry down there's a hint of something sweeter coming up, maybe patchouli. Bang! is strong and it's awesome! I can imagine that i might be a bit hard to pull of as it's loud and straight-forward but I LOVE IT! I'm from Finland and this is the smell of my country! I love everything else in this scent but the bottle design. I'm not sure if I should make my bf try it or just simply buy it for myself to smell. Edit: There's a guy on my uni course who uses Bang. It's probably because of the chemistry but I don't like it on him at all!

I'm on a pepper-focused scent search; L'Occitan Provence started me off but it suffers from a lack of longevity. Bang is the second I've sampled during this search (the first was F Black; not much long-lasting pepper). Bang has a hint of pepper which dissipates very quickly as does the entire EDT; serious longevity and sillage issues. I really wanted it to work, but it doesn't for me. HeWood DSquared2 Rocky Mountain has more pepper and lasts longer, if it just wasn't for that hint of "diaper" it has to it. Oh, well, on to my third pepper-focus sample scent: BLACKPEPPER BY CdG. (UPDATE: Third time's a charm; Blackpepper by CdG is a pepper monster.)

It smells exactly like the smoky residual of burnt wood, alot softer than the smoky wood scent by Commes D'Garcon, if you've tried it. Bang has no fruit, citrus or florals, an idea I always wanted to see put in action. Without, at least, a soft fruit note, the pepper burns the woods, not scientifically but through scentology. Without so much pepper, this scent would be a lil more wearable. I wouldnt really be able to decide the wearability of this scent until I've actually worn it for a day, but my current impression is that it's not wearable. It's a very nice and enjoyable scent on my hand, I love the smokiness.

This smells similar to Matthew Williamsons 'Incense' which I love. I tried this one on today as on the strip it definately seemed unisex to me; however, in the long run it suffered, as most male fragrances do, from a cheaper smelling drydown which has a whiff of the usual fougere about it, I would rather it headed into spice territory after the promising start. This is the most original mass-market masculine I've smelt in ages though - I like its direction but it needs a little tweaking to get close to my fave 'Le Male' I must add that the bottle is rather un-ergonomic!
