Lola Velvet

2 spritz on the wrist and this opens with a strong pepper note that is quickly evoloped in a flirtatious fruity sweetness that lasts about 10 mins before you are left with a floral fruity cocktail with a hint of spice and musk. Good everyday scent, that lasts about 2 hours on exposed skin, with base notes lasting nearly a day.

Since this is the same formula as Lola i read the reviews on that bottle too. Someone on there mentioned about how this reminded them of those waxy halloween lips you get in your trick or treating bag as a child. Well,it's true lol. I happen to like that smell. It could have to do with nostalgia a bit. That's not all Lola or Lola Velvet smells like though. There's just a reminisce of kiddie wax lips (whatever those things are called). The rose is prevelant and the pepper is nice and effervescent through out. The tonka beans are there but not overpowering. Peony is there to keep this scent somewhat youthful. I'm guessing the peony and pear is whats setting of the halloween candy effect,which smells a bit cherry. I'm proud to be in the minority of loving this fragrance. It's my favorite of Marc Jacob's line. Because of the long bar of negative reviews,try before you buy. LONGEVITY: 8 HRS SILLAGE: MODERATE OVERALL SCENT: 9.5/10

Very pretty bottle but it's tall and slender and a bit top heavy with the large flower top and fell off my cabinet into my pedestal sink which broke off part the base. It didn't break so badly that I lost the perfume but it's precariously perched at best even without the flower top. Just a warning:0) The scent is a very pretty and sweet floral that's not too sweet and has good longevity and sillage on my skin.

I still have my bottle, but I never was a great fan of it. I was gifted it in high school by an older friend who worked in a pharmacy. I remember she had an extensive perfume collection, but did not have grand taste. Generic pop star scents accumulated proudly on top of her dresser; Katy Perry's 'Killer Queen' is the one she cherished most. Regardless, she was my perfume supplier, as living in a house with a neurotic asthmatic who forbade candles, incense, deodorants, or really any kind of recreational application of 'scent', it was a very rebellious act for me to indulge in the realm of perfumerie. Lola... Lola... Lo-li-ta. That's the connection my coquettish brain made when I saw it in the display. And blindly I clamoured for it. Sadly, it seems, I had little taste at the time either. At that point, my signature scent was a Harajuku Girls bottle I bought for myself for Christmas with money I was given to buy my grandparents gifts ('Love', though I still fondly adore this scent), but it might have occurred to me, the grandly more popular with the Tavi Gevinson's and Petra Collins' of the day Marc Jacobs scent, Daisy, would have fulfilled my 'coquette' dreams infinitely better, and especially more characteristic of my age at the time. This scent is morosely elderly. I should have atoned my 12-year-old sins and re-gifted this to my grandmother for Christmas, though she is similarly neurotic and scent-sensitive as her offspring... At least it would have found its way into the place it truly belongs much sooner: the dump. This, and not collecting dust on a tinselled shelf in my childhood bedroom, next to the Shirley Barber fairy picture frame with my dear friend trapped inside, and a half used bottle of bath salts gifted to me by my high school ex. It is painfully out of place with its gold chain cinched neck and cosmically vaginal head. Oh what can I say about this... Dizzyingly pungent. First breath goes straight to your head. Somewhat alcoholic in its florals, like a decade old potpourri, though perhaps this is owing to the fact my bottle is almost a decade old. Dusty rose, wine... I see people say 'peppery', but I feel it lacks in this seasoning. It is clumsily sensual... I wanted to say something about a brothel, but it is a bit too cruel... But I mustn't be too negative. After all, if I decide to sell it, I'd like someone to think it could be good on them, and perhaps it does certainly suit some wearers more than others. The dry-down ends up being quite pleasant: imagine you've been just been soaking in a bathtub surrounded by crystals, candles and ceramic dishes of potpourri. It's got a 90s new-agey charm to it, like The Craft, or Buffy. But to get here, it is a journey of Benjamin-Button-esque proportion...

Parfumguru, this smells nothing like Kashaya in any way!!! I have Kashaya at home and today i also tried this one. I can say they are absolutly different! this one is fresh and very artifical! Yes, indeed it smells like jelly Gummi bears. Water with a lot of sugar. Wanted to love it becuase of the bottle, maybe i will buy a small one someday, but the fragrance is totally without any personality like all the others MJ fragrances. Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every rewiev should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.

I've never seen the beauty in Marc Jacobs fragrances; I feel all the womens fragrances from this brand are safe-boring florals... The bottles with disgustingly plastic or rubber & metal flowers in the most unseamly colours can only be described as garish. Definitely overpriced for the cheap presentation & thoroughly forgettable fragrances. Vera Wang on the other hand does lovely florals that represent the best in safe yet well presented fragrances in decent looking bottles: Bouquet is a nice example of this as is Original or Look.

I remember buying this blind at TJ Maxx when I was in college becase I liked the bottle and couldn't afford a stam bag but wanted something MJ. I've lugged it around my life ever since, not wearing it but letting it sit pretty on my dresser. Today I finally tossed it. I really can't imagine a early twenties version of me running around dive bars smelling like a peppery old lady but I guess that was the early 2000's.

The bottle is really beautiful. I want to touch it, to look at it, to buy it...But bottle not perfume. For me Lola Velvet is just too sweet. It tastes like Haribo's gummy bears. May be I'm too strict, but I tried it on my hand and 30 min later only sugar remained. It's still may fit for very young girl.

The dry down is nice, a little boring (musky peony+rose water) but the first 20 minutes of pepper is not worth it. I thought the bottle had gone off since it's like 8 years old, but it was just that awful pepper blast. Cant imagine to whom that would appeal. Edit: I forgot how LONG this lasts. 8 hours later and I can still smell it on my skin. No pepper, just that pleasant peony-rose combo. I don't love this but I must admit that Marc Jacobs perfumes are good quality, and this would be a great signature scent after that initial pepper blast. Shame it's discontinued!

bought it a year ago, haven't used it much, but every time I do spray it on I always ask myself "why don't you use this more often?!" I love it. It is a sophisticated scent, but not only for older women. A mature younger woman could pull this scent off with even just a pair of jeans and flats. It's the type of scent that requires character as opposed to class.

I just sniffed and tried to put on my arm from the magazine insert page, and I could not believe my nose how this smelled exactly like Kenzo Kashaya I had when I was a teenager.Not bad but personally I would not be able to use this as an everyday perfume. Definitely a special occasion/event fragrance.

according to the online marc jacobs store, the lola and lola velvet are the same juice just limitied edition bottle. i havent got the option to smell them both to compare but ppl on here seem to allude to them being different?

I would call it "Sweet india"- it sure is sweet, but at the same time it has different tones of spices. I would not recommend it for everyday use, more for special occasions or for the evening.

In my opinion, this is a less intense version of the original. It's a nice fragrance but it seems to keep this strong note all through the day. Not really my cup of tea.

Such a gorgeous bottle! Fragrance is just ok though.
