Marc Jacobs Pear Splash 2016

A girlfriend gifted me this and I was absolutely ecstatic, as I had wanted it for ages. She said she didn't wear it that often and for that I was glad. Yes it is weak and doesn't last for ages but I love the smell and use it for layering; as I find it so alluring with the boozy pear note. Its in a 100ml bottle, so you can spray it as many times as your heart desires and I've no doubt that I'll use it all year round as many times a day as I want!

This fragrance pisses me off. Don’t get me wrong - it is a beautiful fresh, slightly herbal pear, actually more feminine than masculine to me. But... it is incredibly weak, possibly the weakest scent that I own. I have to bathe in it in order to feel something, no wonder it has “splash” in its name. For me it has a strength of a body spray, however for the 20-something euros that I paid for the bottle (love the bottle design) it’s not bad.

Used to wear this obsessively in my late teenage years at the precise start of autumn. It had a note that reminded me of early childhood memory and I felt very Marc Jacobs doll ballet slipper h&m tshirt chic in it until my friend asked why I was always smelling of autan insect repellent spray and that was it for me

Garnier Fructis shampoo with a touch of teenage boy's sport cologne. An amalgamation of generic teenage girl and teenage boy scents. Smells pleasant but painfully juvenile and low-market. Unless you got it for dirt cheap it is really not worth your time or money

I don't feel as though this is feminine enough for me to wear but I do love it. I layered it with a fruity floral and they go well together. I would recommend it for men though but it has all of my personal favorite scents.

A nice fresh pear scent. With a little bit of citrus, little bit of green, sweet but not too sweet. Weak performance as others have noted. Wear it, spray it on fabric, or use it as a room spray - it's a mood-lifter.

This is the male (or androgynous) version of Marc Jacobs Marc Jacobs. It combines the original fragrance inversely with a heavy waft of lemon and pear. I can envision them side-by-side as 'his' and 'hers'.

As a big fan of floral, fruity Unisex scents I blind bought this on Fragrance Direct (in the UK) at £18 for 100ml (super cheap). On first impression I was incredibly happy with my purchase. The opening is an explosion of sweet, sticky gourmand pears, exactly as the name conveys. Personally I don't get any Lemon in the opening (as the notes state). It leans feminine, but isn't unwearable as a male. This fragrance is perfect for casual hot summer days, perhaps on the beach. It's light and sweet, it's not overpowering. It's the type of fragrance someone will inconspicuously catch a delicate edge of, rather than one which assaults the senses and demands the attention of everyone around you. But (and its a BIG but), it dies back to a skin scent within a couple of hours. I was wondering why the price point of this was less than half that of the flagship women's 'Daisy Dream' range, and that question was quickly answered - longevity. I can only guess the concentration of essential oils is low, which is such a massive shame. I suppose you could argue that at £18 for 100ml you can afford to re-apply, but I don't subscribe to that argument. As a guy, I'd happily pay a higher price if a generous application in the morning lasted me through the day. I can't be bothered to carry a bottle around. Scents like this frustrate the hell out of me, they've done the hard part, they've formulated something which smells great! Did nobody test the longevity? Was increasing it simply not possible? I hear so many reviewers passing on scents for this reason. Calling it 'splash' is perfectly apt. Its VERY short lived. In summary; smells gorgeous, great price, but won't re-purchase as longevity is terrible.

At the store I saw that this fragrance was on clearance for a small price and I wondered why as it opened up, indeed with a beautiful pear. I wanted to get myself one, however thankfully I did not... After 20 minutes this one turns into an aftershave which is not good. I like unisex fragrances but this was not a pleasant drydown.

Masculine leaning and also cologne like. Doesn't last either you need to over spray. I ended up giving it to a guy friend, it's just not my thing. Would never consider repurchasing. I ended up giving it to a friend.

Marc Jacobs Pear Splash has been on my radar ever since I discovered that pear is one of my favourite fruit notes in perfumery. I was hoping for a crisp, juicy pear, but in reality, this fragrance is a cross between a fruity shampoo and a gin-centred cocktail. This fragrance opens with somewhat clean smelling citrus and pear, giving it that shampoo quality which is so prevalent in modern perfumery. As this fragrance settles, however, it becomes a touch more alcoholic with gin, sharper citrus, juniper and white musk. I must be honest, I don't smell a lot of pear in this composition at all. It smells almost exactly like a Gin Fizz cocktail consisting of gin, sugar, club soda and fresh lemon. This would make an excellent Summer fragrance, I would almost be tempted to wear it to a beach party. It's quite unisex and easy to wear. Perhaps the only downside is its lack-lustre longevity and sillage. Supposedly this fragrance was one of Marc Jacobs best sellers from the Splash range, hence the reason why it was re-released in 2016. As I never had the opportunity to smell the original release I wouldn't have a clue as to how they compare. If you want to smell a fragrance with a more realistic pear accord I would recommend smelling Jo Malone's English Pear and Freesia, Annick Goutal's Petite Cherie and Victoria's Secret Pear Glace.

I was so disappointed when this was discontinued. I purchased a bottle of the redoux as soon as I was able. Rain will follow shortly. It has the same pear spice note, that is a woody-citrus "snap". I think it is a perfect early spring/fall scent. It mellows and softens in the wearing much like the Jo Malone Angelica from the Rain series. It doesn't smell the same, but it has a similar timbre. I am so pleased these are back. The cucumber will be a great summer addition. If you have the Bliss scent, they are similar. The Rain is a really pretty Spring scent and the Cotton is nice also. Don't expect massive longevity, these are "snapshots", but I get a few hours of wear.

Aries7604/18/19 10.04pm New perfume purchased recently, I have the old version from 10 years ago... in the 300 ml bottle an EAU de Cologne precisely, I wanted to try this one and I must say that they are almost identical! A fruity fresh and sweet at the same time, pear galore inevitable in Marc Jacobs perfumes, I personally like the hint of pear very much being a fruity lover I couldn't help but try it, even if it is identical to its predecessor I don't regret having purchased it because it is longer lasting than the cologne, I find it perfect for summer and for those who love fresh fruit like me.

Starts off fresh and fruity. I dont smell particular pear, but more fruit in general. Then it gets delicious and aromatic. But after five minutes i dries Down, the fruityness dissappeares and left is only a generic Sweet musky scent, kinda unlike the promising opening. Too bad, I think it goes off my wishlist. Its a scin scent now, an hour later. I understand why they Call it splash and not a perfume.

I tried it yesterday, it was in the women ' s section,i find it more feminine I feel, fresh pear but not the juicy type, more depth, a hint of spiciness, not overdone..I thought this was a nice scent to own, it is different , it isn't a typical fruity citrus splash.,it has dimension..i might get it..i can see it being good to have while traveling...it smells nice !!

Ohhhh I just received this today and I’m absolutely in love. It isn’t anything special or complex, but it’s so pleasant. Fresh, slightly sweet, juicy pears, just pure joy to have for warmer weathers. It’s great for layering too, just to add some sparkle to your scents. Love it!

I am a sucker for all things pear. However, I've found that this scent is much better-suited to my husband than myself. I think this is a great choice for men, but perhaps not feminine enough for me to pull off. Still one of my favorite scents in general.

I just received this as a gift and I absolutely love it! It's fresh and fruity and clean and makes me feel good just wearing it. It has a sweet bosc pear opening that softens to a very pleasant skin scent after about two hours.

This is not a typical fruity fragrance. The notes combine to create a more sophisticated, salacious scent that is not necessarily geared toward the younger set. Currently my signature fragrance. Sublime.

Very soft version of Jo Malone's English Pear and Freesia (without the depth of notes) Pleasant enough and moderately priced for a splash if you want a quick and short lived fruity pick me up.
