Marc Jacobs Rain Splash 2016

I LOVE this perfume ♡ Fragrances really are subjective... Maybe some people think this is boring or no better than cheap drugstore bodyspray, but it's one of the most beautiful aquatics I've personally smelled. I'm a huge fan of Kenzo L'eau par Kenzo Pour Femme, but I tend to stop buying perfume once it's discontinued, so I haven't hunted it down since 2012. Another reviewer commented that this smells exactly like that fragrance, so I was enticed even further into wanting this. After a few months of debating, I decided to blind purchase this, and I'm soooo happy I did! :) ♡ I think the comparison to Kenzo L'eau par is a good one. There's something in this perfume that also triggers my brain to think of D&G L'Imperatrice 3 when I smell it - maybe a fruit note that reminds me of the watermelon in that? I think if you like the fragrance notes and/or if you like floral aquatics at all, this perfume is worth giving a chance... If you didn't like it, I'm sure someone else you know would - I would consider this a very inoffensive and overall generally pleasing fragrance. Definitely ideal for spring & summer, but I would also wear this year-round. + Just an FYI: I think this is much more of a feminine scent. Slightly surprised to see that men wear this too. But maybe that's just me.

You're outside in rain gear playing in the rain in the grass in your back yard next to a dryer vent. You hear all the droplets on the leaves around you and can't help but feel mesmerized by the sound. You go inside and take off all your damp clothes and put a freshly warmed pair of cotton pajamas on to get rid of the chill. That is this scent. I bought this after Oakcha Morning Rain (their take of Gypsy Water) and decided I wanted more Petrichor rain scents. I spend a lot of the time in woods full of pine and birch and moss and large glacier dropped stones and wanted something to capture the joy of swimming in the woods in a cold pond after the rain. This wasn't it. Was it ever lovely tho. I can't help but hug my sleave and feel comforted.

I looovvveee this one from MJ range! I've fallen in love since the first sniff few years ago on a sample product in a perfumery store. And finally I get this rare item in my country! The smell is just like its name... Rain! It smell so watery fresh like the pouring rain in a meadow. Just fresh, soft, fresh, so soothing til I just want to sniff my wrist all the time when I wear this. :) I imagine myself in the middle of wet savana after the rain. I hope MJ wouldn't stop producing this item! It's my forever favorite fragrance to use both day and night. The silage is very good and long lasting as well, up to 4-5 hours on my skin. Repurchase? Suurrreeee... :D

My sister gave me a bottle of this for my high school graduation in 2008. To this day Marc Jacobs Rain is my absolute favorite aquatic summer scent of all time. It's fresh and clean, bright and uplifting and smells exactly like fresh rain in my opinion. Very much a spring/summer scent, it's appropriate for any situation. I wish this was something I could permanently buy and I'm absolutely clinging to the end of a back up bottle from the 2016 re-release. To this day, I haven't been able to find any other aquatic quite like this. Many of them lean unisex to masculine in my experience and this is a very feminine aquatic.

Does not smell like rain. Despite that, I absolutely adore it. It smells exactly like squeaky clean laundry detergent. I get some strawberry from it but it's not overpowering and is masterfully done. The watery notes are present. I don't get much of anything else, though. Love the light blue colour of this! The bottle won't likely win any design award, but it is lovely (if not slightly wieldy.) The cap is HUGE, but I like it. I find it kawaii somewhat. This is in the same vibe as The Body Shop White Musk l'Eau. If you like that one, this one will also greatly appeal to you, too. Totally unisex.

I really, really wanted to try this as I tend to love aquatic, watery scents. To my surprise, there was a 15 ml official travel spray listed on ebay for around $11. I figured, what's the worst that can happen for $11? Well, the perfume is definitely real, and I adore it. The initial opening blast is fresh cut grass and tangerines, very pretty. After a few minutes the fragrance settles into something very calm, very zen, smelling watery, slightly woody and very fresh, like nature after a heavy downpour. It is very light with almost no projection, and it lasts for 2 hours max.

I do love this scent but not as a perfume, more as a linen spray lol idk what it is but it gives me fruity laundry vibes lol Update: I threw this on to run to the store because I was gross and sweaty and I didnt want to smell like sweat lol I kept getting these fruity whiffs and I was thinking about it and I can definitely see why this was called Rain but I think a more appropriate name would be something more like 'Summer Rain' cause it was definitely giving me some summer vibes and now i am loving it for summer time

Marc Jacobs Rain-A true aquatic scent. To me, this smells like going outside after a rain shower...rain dripping off leaves, a dewy lawn...a green aquatic with an earthy base. The strawberry and the clementine are not largely noticeable in the opening. This is really a delicate skin scent. Very clean, (not in a soapy way) and fresh(again, not in an air freshener way), and mildly sweet. A really nice uncomplicated Spring/Summer scent. If you love aquatic fragrances, I would say this is a safe blind buy. Really lovely.

I have wanted to buy this for so long even though I never smelled it, there was just something about it that I HAD to have it, so finally after five years I bought it and got it last week. IM SO SO SO glad I did :) it is beautiful! If you like Clinique Happy Heart-you’ll love this! If you like CLEAN Rain (reserve or classic) you’ll Love this! Very much aquatic, almost melon maybe!?! Rain to me describes this perfect!!!!! This could easily be one of my new faves!!!

This is beautiful! There's something really addictive about this, I cannot stop smelling my wrist. To me this smells fresh, pretty, happy and energetic. I can smell melon in this, that's what the perfume reminds me of, how refreshing a cool piece of melon can be on a hot day. It's refreshing but in a delicate understated way, not like an in your face citrus bomb. This definitely isn't the most expensive smelling perfume but definitely under rated!

I simply love it. It's very clean, and fresh but also has its character. You won't feel like spraying a toilet air freshener on :D. I can't smell clementine at all, a bit of grass, yes, water notes are radiating strong. It is fresh but also cozy. I feel males and females could wear it. The price could be slightly lower as the scent radiates for like 5 hours, then you can smell it on skin only.

It's aquatic, little bit sweetness, fresh....Just like when you came out from shower room.... Remind me one rainy summer day with flower bouquet. For me, it last quite long time and sillage was not that bad. I sprayed it on my hair and when the wind blows my hair, people asked me what kind of perfume I use. But maybe that's because I use green scented shampoo.

Very good blind buy, I think this will be my signature scent for warmer months, very clean aquatic scent, without any sharp notes, minimalistic, super clean, perfect for the office! I would say it’s more femine (if you like male version of it I would recommend Replica - when the rain stops). Overall: 10/10

this fragrance is so pretty. i don’t know how to explain it but it smells like freshly fallen snow. not necessarily as earthy as rain. it also smells so clean and soap-like. it sort of has the same vibe as replica’s bubble bath, only way better in my opinion.

I loooove this scent sooo much!!!! there is a smell like freshly sliced strawberries, and smell of earth exposed to rainwater (petrichor). like walking in the strawberry garden on a rainy day. It's clean and fresh scent, i love to wear it everytime.

I don't love a lot of Marc Jacobs perfumes but this is great. I tend to spray this right before bed or after shower. It is SO fresh and lovely. Just the right amount of sweet. Does not smell artificial or perfumey at all. This is a lovely scent.

This never fails to put a smile on my face. It’s so beautiful and gentle. Haven’t previously looked at the notes but seeing its got sunflower I can totally smell it now. Pure summer rain bliss.

I would have guess this a riff on the classic cucumber melon had I not read the notes. It is somewhere between that a clean cotton. Super nice, super retro to a certain era, super wearable.

Gorgeous,fresh, aquatic. Smells heavenly for all of about 30 minutes then disappears. I used up a bottle in no time. I wouldn't purchase it again for that reason.

This is like aromatherapy for me. The best going-to-bed perfume for summer/hot nights. It almost makes me nostalgic, very strange, but I love it.

This has a CK One Summer vibe to it because of its "aquaticness" but it's definitely not as sweet and summery. It's really clean it almost smells like freshly washed laundry that is still wet. The longevity and sillage (as expected) aren't great but if you like aquatic scents this is still really nice and the bottle is very pretty (and bigger than I expected).

This perfume is how Acqua Di Gioia should smell Probably the prettiest fresh scent I've tried so far. Not a huge fan of fresh perfumes in general, but this one really is pretty! Refreshing, simple, and no air-freshener notes. Great for the summer and a safe buy for a gift.

Bought this fragrance based on the reviews here. It is really fresh, light and easy to wear. I love my aquatic fragrances and this is just perfect. Silage is not great, so will need to be topped up, but I really love it for a chilled day.

Agree with reviewer who said this resembles Gap Heaven. But in my opinion it doesn't smell as cheap.I think it's a little less sweet but strong sunflower. Happy to have this in my fresh summer collection.

Smells like the Air Wick Fresh Waters fragrance.

I got this at TJ Max for $25, I've been watching it go down in price for a month. I don't know what I was expecting, but it's the most nostalgic smell, that reminds me of childhood, that I've smelled so far. I used to burn a lot of aquatic candles as a preteen and this is... well, it really smells like the **idea** of rain or water. There's something else there, that I can't place, that gives it a very 2005 vibe to me. Perhaps it almost has a waxiness, or a burned aspect to it It smells nice on me so far, nothing special, I would have had buyer's remorse if I hadn't bought it. I think it'll be good for daily summer use. It's not imposing and it's gentle enough to be sprayed in a small room. Definitely not Beast Mode, maybe Fawn Mode. It might be the most unisex thing I own?

Super different based on where I spray. Overall I think the aquatic note overpowers everything and it makes me super nauseous upon first spray, especially when applied to my skin. Not as overwhelmingly watery when on fabric, and once the aquatic note dries down it turns into a nice, soft floral/woody musk that I prefer. Think the smell goes better with a cool evening after the rain rather than the hot humidity of a mid-summer day rain. If I were to use this, I would probably will spray on my clothes an hour or two before, then wear it outside so I can go around with the base notes and florals.

Another scent that I have had for a couple of years and never reviewed. This is as the name implies very watery and fresh. Ozonic and fruity. On my skin the dominant notes are fruity. It smells almost like a melon dew drink! I know the notes pyramid doesn't include melon notes but on my skin this is 99% melon dew. Very good for the hot weather!

It doesn’t smell like rain at all. To me, it smells like fresh laundry detergent with some sweet fruity/floral hints. The watery note barely show up on my skin, which is a bit disappointed for me. Btw i still like this scent, smells like a new beginning. Suitable for casual daily use

It's unique, and not rain. I can't tell its notes. They are uncommon. Top - watermelon, cypress, storm. Feminine Middle - watermelon, cypress, sunflower, melon, hot humidity. Unisex Base - cypress lotion, minty moss, blue jelly water residue. Masculine

I tried this in Ulta and wanted to impulse buy it SO BAD because I LONG FOR, I CRAVE, and I PINE for the original Gap Heaven. The original Gap scents are like watching 90s Nickeoldeon for me, the nostalgia just gets me every damn time and I don't care if it's corny as hell. Anyway, I sprayed it on myself and then walked around the store for a bit before deciding that NOPE, this is just another one of Marc Jacob's cheap, gimmicky scents with zero staying power, zero complexity and a disgusting dry down. What starts off like a Gap Heaven dupe quickly turns into a sad, aldehydic Axe Body Spray fail. For Gap nostalgics, Philosophy's Pure Grace is closer and cheaper match.

Oh, didn't like this one at all. On my skin it smelled like a cheap dupe of Cool Water + air freshener + something sour. Most likely it's the grass and strawberry notes combined. Shame, because I really like cotton and pear from the Splash collection...

Tangy Fruity aquatic watery with a hint of green from the grass notes, I personally dislike it but I can see why people do like it... I have no idea why people think this is unisex it smells very feminine to my nose

A very nice opening which swiftly descends into a weakling whiff of nothing-much.

I usually like Marc Jacobs fragrances, so I was hopeful I would like this one. It's too floral for me. I thought it would be light and fresh based on the other reviews, but it's very perfumey on me. It reminds me of a stronger version of B&BW's Sea Island Cotton.

This was a blind buy fail. I really wanted to like it, but it just smelt too artificial and like chemicals. It's one of the only perfumes I've ever scrubbed off. Very nauseating on me.

I was searching for something light, clean & watery, (without loads of citrus) for summer. I don't own many aquatics, & I think this fills that space in my wardrobe nicely. I don't understand the reviews that say it smells cheap & synthetic - it is after all an aquatic. By it's very nature (& name), it's not going to be something sophisticated or complex which contains a lots of elaborate "natural" smelling nuances/notes. The fruitiness is not at all dominant (imo) - & it's certainly not the synthetic syrupy "strawberry/fruit flavour" that I was worried about. I've tried a lot of aquatic/marine/fresh type perfumes lately, & they all seemed to contain either a hefty dose of dominant citrus &/or IsoESuper - this one definitely doesn't so it was the clear winner for what I was looking for. At the moment I'm doing a side by side comparison with Jo Malone Wild Bluebell, & they really are quite similar to my nose. I really do prefer Rain Splash tbh. I paid £38 for 100ml bottle, so I think it's good value, especially in comparison to the Jo Malone. With a name like Rain Splash it's not pretending to be anything other than what it is - & (imho) it smells like what it says on the label. I like this a lot, even though the longevity is quite poor. I got what I expected & wanted, & !'ll enjoy my bottle :-)

Rain was and will always be the absolute ultimate perfume for me, theres no other like it and i have quite a collection and quite a nose... I do not fall for smells that big brands produce for eventually most of them a. all smell the same (heavy!) and b. are easily "smellable" on people on the street. i can always tell who used what and its annoying. Individuality kinda dies when it comes to perfumes these days. There hasn't been even once that I wasn't asked about this perfume and / or complemented about it. Its absolutely fabulous on my skin. It's fresh, it's like no other, it's special, it's really the smell of a summer rain in a forest, its how the wild strawberry smells like after the rain. Its amazing! Needless to mention how hard it was to find every last drop of it online during the period it was out of all the shelves here in Europe. Its finally back, my one and only.

I hoped this would be something aquatic and woodsy that smells like actual rain or at least the outdoors during/after a rainfall. Unfortunately it mostly smells like one of those mountain springs types of laundry detergent or one of the Clean perfumes. Very generic and duplicate for many cheap body sprays you can find for a couple dollars in any discount retailer. In fact the first comment I got when wearing it was asking why I was wearing such a cheap smelling perfume!

I got this as a small sample. Clean linen / cotton fragrance, aquatic, summery freshie that smells like clean sheets. Nice scent for the pool, beach, and summer without having the “sunscreen” or coconut scent that many summer scents have. Simple, linear, & clean. Becomes a skin scent quickly, acts more like a body spray on me. The scent is nice but I don’t love it enough to buy it as a full size bottle, unless I can find it at a major discounted cost.

Blind purchase fail. Smells good but absolutely nothing special for the price and has zero petrichor in it. For a "Rain" fragrance you'd expect it to smell a little dirtier but it's really just an average unisex aquatic like any drugstore body splash you had a as teen. Has a sloppy plastic atomizer that you can twist right open. Also it seems the logo is just a sticker. Not sure cause I'm afraid if I inspect much further it will start to peel off.

Water, Grass, cypress, moss. Like a super fresh soap. Resembles Head&Shoulders or fresh laundry detergent. When I get sick of my sweet and fruity scents , I use this to “clean my palate”. Love this before bed. I don’t really care for longevity bc i just spray this as a pick me up, as a refresher. I don’t get any fruity citrusy notes , it’s mostly clean. Perfect gym scent, perfect layering scent to make other perfumes more aquatic.

I absolutely love this. I love the clean, simple bottle, and that the liquid is blue, and the smell really does remind me of rain. I don't get strawberry at all (thank goodness). I just get this fresh, sweet, clean, mossy, natural scent that smells like a spring garden in the rain. I'm going to save this for drizzly, rainy, and stormy days as a pick me up while I'm reading on the couch. It's adorable and unique.

I tried this out today. First spray smells EXACTLY like Gap Heaven. Then, about 30 minutes later it smells like Gap Heaven with a touch of Gap Grass. It also smells like Method sweet rain hand soap that I sometimes buy at Target. Nice, generic, clean and synthetic. I do like it. I am just disappointed in the lack of creativity here :(

I got rain & three others in a set with an atomised that the bottles went into. Rain was my favourite of the four. Aquatic fragrances donrt normally like my skin but Rain was the exception. It's probably the best cleanest fresh fragrance I've had. Fragrance Direct have Rain &Pear for sale (July 4th 2019) 100ml each for £24.50.

This is a throwback. How can you not fall in love with a perfume that is called Rain? The bottle is very luxurious and pretty too. The scent matches very well with the whole idea behind this perfume. This is not just another fresh fragrance, it’s way deeper than that and for that, very enjoyable.

For me, it smells like rain. Honestly, I had no expectation for this perfume since I randomly bought it but I fell in love instantly with this fragrance. It's quite cheap and the silage is quite OK for me. But my friend told me that I smell like one of soap in one of airways she used to work lmao

This perfume is amazing for spring and summer. Reminds me of summer rain on sunflowers and a new day. Very uplifting daytime fragrance that is still unforgettable, unique and nothing compares. I have two giant bottles and it’s discontinued so I cherish this fragrance. So beautiful.

Omg !!!!!I fell in love with this scent.Its like a morning breeze !like a garden near the sea! Light and subtle...so close to the skin.Nothing soapy,too flowery or powdery. Just comfortable and perfect.i doesn't smell like rain or rainforest but it depicts water in a different way

When I saw the rating and after that I tried it, was quite surprised that I really like it.It is simply clean and divine and IMO it does not smell cheap at all. Not available in my country, so have to look elsewhere, I want it.
