Anime Sante

Judging by its name, I expected “Anime Sante” (or Holy Souls) to be a perfume composed around the note of frankincense. This in itself would be a very gratifying idea to me as Maria Candida Gentile surely knows how to incorporate the note effectively into her creations without making it smell too churchy or overwhelming. “Sideris”, “Exultat” or “Gershwin” exemplify not only the perfumer’s technical expertise, but also her artistic sensitivities. Imagine my surprise then when I first smelt “Anime Sante” and detected no trace of frankincense whatsoever. Instead, its head is dominated by a sweet flowery aroma of frangipani, so sweet in fact that at times it reminds me of the smell of pink bubble gum. To my relief, however, this phase lasts only for a couple of minutes. Although the sweetness never recedes completely, it becomes less intense and more palatable in the heart where a combination of melon and almond milk adds a gourmand accord to the scent. This accord permeates the drydown with the support of benzoin. Nevertheless, at this stage woody notes emerge as well, which tones the sweetness down even further. “Anime Sante” will appeal to lovers of sweet, floral-gourmand fragrances. While that might sound like a description of some banal, uninspiring product, fear not. In Ms Candida Gentile’s capable hands, it turns into a lovely scent. Well, I guess the lady holds the title of a master perfumer for a reason.

first of all my compliments to lady maria candida - came from italy to canada in just two days!! i dont recall paying express shipping so i did not expect that!! and it came with a hefty little booklet detailing the notes and inspirations of all her other perfumes....i love a bit of light reading on my favourite subject :3c as for the scent itself - on skin it starts off smelling like cinnamon hearts! settles into something creamy, ambery, but not edible.....its almost waxy. just smells like lip balm to me. certainly not the refreshing melon milk i had hoped for....but i like it anyway! if there's any change in a few weeks, i'll update. it reminds me of Tokyomilk Novocaine, which i cant find anywhere anymore, just clinging to whats left in my 2018 or 19 bottle....that one is definitely more fresh spicy than warm spicy though. this is quite sweet and will serve a good winter scent ~

Anime Sante (Holy Souls) is a strange name for this perfume. This is an overly sweet strange suntan lotion scent. Instead of using coconut there is frangipani combined w/ a sickly sweet almond milk and melon. I like almond but not combined w/ melon. As the name suggests I expected something w/ incense, myrrh, frankincense, smoke etc... I would name this perfume Beach Baby or Beach Escape or something banal like that. It smells too silly, and overly saccharine for the name of Anime Sante. Disappointing and actually it smells kind of gross.

I received this sample with my purchase of Noir Tropical which I really like. Anime Sante smells like a tart berry fruit jam. Too sweet for me. It packs an artificial sour candy punch.

The opening smells exactly like some type of medicinal syrup I consumed growing up. Not cough syrup, another ailment I don’t remember. It is bubblegummy and fruity, but if I inhale deeply I am reminded of furniture stores. Their sequoia wood note does a really great job of smelling exactly like wooden coffee tables, bed frames, and chairs scattered about a large warehouse, coupled with both leather (mostly faux) and fabric cushions. There’s a distinct soft floral wafting around from an air freshener someone plugged in, and some slightly dusty red candles sits on a side table next to a display bed, mattress and all. Also, I get pineapple coconut like a Malibu mixer. That coconut is the slightly artificial take I don’t enjoy. I can see the waxy cinnamon quality someone mentioned below, must be why I imagined old red (cinnamon apple) candles.
