Tonka Lavande

Oh, no... I might need this in my life. What a breathtakingly beautiful lavender that doesn't scream "THIS IS FOR MEN". Soft and creamy, even slightly powdery. Vaguely reminiscent of Lavandes Trianon by Lancome. This little known fragrance house has been a revelation for me. I bought a bunch of samples mainly because I was dying to try Iris Pallida, but in the end that was the one i was utterly unimpressed with. But after testing five samples from them, I can see the overall cohesion - all fragrances share a baseline, underlying DNA, which seems to be composed of the notes of vetiver, cedar and sandalwood.

Reminds me of Lavandes Trianon which I enjoy. It really works perfectly on my skin in the dry down. Comforting and cozy. Slightly creamy lavender balanced really well. I am glad I took a chance on this one. I was worried that it would go too Fougere like someone else mentioned but luckily it did not and is firmly unisex

I got a travel size in late 2021 and ADORED this. Tonka is one of my favorite notes and this reminded me of an elevated, elegant, grown up version of Lush’s Twilight or Sleepy lotions etc in how calming and soothing and deliciously tonka-saturated it was. I wanted a full bottle soo bad HOWEVER I’m now so glad I didn’t spend the money for one. (At nearly $200 for a 100mL, and no smaller bottles or travel sizes!) Coming back to this now in early 2023, it has really aged and doesn’t possess the same magic. It feels more masculine and fermented. The lavender, cedar (and maybe the sage/rosemary too) accords have really taken over the tonka and the almond is pretty much gone. It’s not BAD but it’s not nearly as lactonic and creamy and femme and soothing as it used to be, feels much more anftershave-y. Always stored my 8mL in its cardboard tube to keep light out too. I find some of these more clean/natural fragrances really change too quickly. If the site offered travel sizes or 30mLs (anything smaller than 100mL!) maybe I’d be interested but this one feels more like something where if I do repurchase, I’d just get a 2 mL to keep by my bedside for more like aromatherapy purposes.
