Sensual Amber

I don't know why, but my nose is just drawn to this fragrance, and I have loved it for many years. It is comforting, as others have described, warm with a hint of cinnamon and glancing kiss of clove that is part of an overall warmth of slightly powder-tinged, vanilla allspice. It is not at all heavy or cloying, as one may assume by the note descriptions, but I would recommend wear for cooler days, or go very lightly, with one or two sprays on warmer days. It just evokes its own, distinctive, elegant mood for me that is just not delivered through some other fragrances that are said to be similar. Sensual Amber is marketed for women, but personally, I feel anyone can confidently wear this classy gem, and it works well with layering certain other fragrances. This is a wonderful beauty that is just so soothing, like a life-sustaining pablum for the soul when feeling bruised and beaten down by the hardships of life, a soothing, yummy hug wrapped blanket of peaceful serenity and security, bad thoughts and feelings just vanish for the moment. I love many other fragrances, but this is one that I regularly revisit, especially during the doldrums of winter.

This is a lovely vintage-style amber. A soft, powdery, close amber with a hint of musk and incense. This is not a church incense but a vintage. There must be iris or orris in this as well. Very pretty and tender. This is NOTHING like Cinnabar or Obsession. Not spicy at all.

Soft, sweet and spicy - this is your quintessential amber. Although exceedingly pleasant when one is in the mood for warm comfort, this fragrance is similar to so many other ambers on the market, it finds a certain difficulty breaking fresh ground or inspiring much of a look. Incense notes are probably the most alluring part of the heart, as they capture the essence of my formative years - listening to the soft crackle of records laid out on a weather-weary couch of felted canvas. Cones and sticks silently smouldering on every free flat surface.The opening is hard to analyze due to a heady start of pure alcohol. It's almost a foreshadowing for the lack of longevity. It is as fleeting as a mid afternoon nap - a respite of the day's drudgery. And with that, I applaud. Sometimes that small escape is all I ask for from a perfume. A gentle journey in the recesses of my mind...then back to face the day.

how pretty. this opens with incense, clove and herbal lavender. it's more subtle and cozy. i am kind of surprised lavender is voted so low because it becomes pretty prominent on my skin. softly smoky lavender-amber. soft and cozy, not really strong or bold, like others have mentioned.

On me this is a mix between Opium and Youth Dew. Everyone has different scent perceptions and this is just mine. It is pleasant and a definite cold weather perfume.

I've been trying to find a replacement for my beloved Obsession CK - annnnd this isn't it. What it IS though, is extremely reminiscent of Cinnebar (sp?). I haven't smelled that in years though so, your mileage may vary. Starts off very much like Cinnebar, but slightly more genteel (talking the vintage, y'all). Slowly morphes into Cinnebar soap. Not bad, but it loses its depth. Unfortunately, I od'd on Cinnebar when it first came out, all those moons ago, so I can't really enjoy it as one should. But, if you're looking for a nice replacement, this is certainly worth your checking into.

This is a powdery amber for me. Lightly spiced. Wispy almost, it throws airy wafts but they seem thin somehow. It's pleasant enough but there isn't much heft to it and the powdery effect isn't really my taste. I have other ambers that I prefer. It has a nice staying power for its cost and is very office friendly.
