Spiritual Healing

Sweet, fruity, fragile, leather. A sensitive castoreum, a lucid dream with depth. You can feel the small tart fruits in this potion, and the peachy side of osmanthus, laid on a bed of soft leathery animalics. Mark Buxton seems to often explore this juxtaposition: fruits, and then something warm, leathery, musky, living, resinous maybe. That's, in a way, redefining fruitiness in perfume. Fruits are an edible pleasure, they suggest happiness, sharing, participating. That castoreum and leathery labdanum base, it's a different thing, it suggests adult intimacy, but sometimes also solitude, loneliness even. So, there's this. It's pure psychology, visible also in Dreaming with Ghosts, or his works for Moth and Rabbit like Duke of Burgundy and Melancholia. Anyway, I'm often influenced by the name, it's part of the thrill for me. And here's how I see the "healing" part, it's cal;mness with all your imperfections and past burdens considered and accepted. Not your usual "wellbeing" thing about forgetting the fragility, shame and failure that you had, but accepting them as part of you; an honest look on both the dark side and the bright side, the good and the bad, the complex self that you are.

Lovely. Imagine you are walking down a country lane, with dense trees on either side. There is a ray of sun that stretches down the middle of the path, and you keep to that. On either side of the lane, under the trees, are dense patches of heavily berried shrubs, and they are in the shade and in darkness. They aren’t sweet, juicy berries, but are tangy, dark, and musky. That shade seems to possibly hide animal burrows or other mysteries, so you stay to the central sunlight path, even though the berries are tempting. After a while, you can’t help yourself, and lean into the shade to reach for a berry. This is Spiritual Healing.

Smells nice, horrible longevity and projection. Like all of this line unfortunately.

Not much better generally than Black Angel from this same line but it doesn't smell like its price — in fact, it smells the exact opposite. Nice if you just want to add a smell to your room but you're better off spraying RITUALS' room spray for £30 roughly per 500ml
