Why Not a Fougère

From the first sniff, this is a nice inoffensive fragrance. Starts with a nice pink pepper, citrus blast. As it develops, cedar and floral notes become more prominent, and these notes sit on a bed of clean white musk. Why Not a Fougère is perfect for hot summer days. However, Why Not a Fougère is not the first fragrance I’m going to reference when I think of a Fougère. To me, this is a modern, perhaps, a blue take on something like the original Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme, minus tobacco. Overall, I really do like this fragrance. If you don’t like “generic” fragrances, you may not enjoy this one. I will continue to wear this and update on performance. Update: After that bright opening, I've been able to pick up more of the narcissus. I think this fragrance is suitable fall days too. At about the hour mark, Why Not a Fougère sits very close to the skin. The scent is gone by the 5 hour mark on me.

It comes off as a dusty lavender with a kind of disjointed feel. Not sure if it’s the pear or the angelica, but some of the notes just don’t blend well and end up clashing.

Slightly sour, extremely soft and demure. The herbal components come through more after a few minutes and develop a spicy facet, along with a chamomile aroma and a few shadows of fruity notes. It's faintly rooty but not dirty, rough or earthy at all. More like a vegetable. I don't like it. There's a sourness here along with a wimpy tea aroma that feels neither fresh nor modern but rather like a borderline-savory kitchen herb drawer given a pillow-like softness. I thought I like angelica but maybe I don't haha. I'm hard-pressed to call it masculine with such a focus on soft musks, but the dry herbal parts might take it in that direction. It just feels a little dainty, which I don't associate with Fougeres. Maybe that's a part of the joke/irony in the name though?
