Doliphor

If you know L'Eau Papier and are familiar with its "skin" type of smell, you could say Doliphor is a darker twin. Yes it is grotesque and terrifyingly intimate, and at the same time incredibly soft and light. Smells of human skin, baby's breath, first kiss, powdered cleaning solution, TV static. I felt a sense of guilt and allure when I first smelled it. Like a person you know you shouldn't love but you are fascinated by them anyway, like an intrusive thought. The real notes seem to be milk, carrot seed, aldehydes, and musk/patchouli. Very heavy on the milk and carrot seed, which is why I compare it to L'Eau Papier. I did not get the smell of cumin personally. I'm sure it's there hidden in the musk and patchouli, but not like some perfumes where people say it smells of body odor because of the cumin. For all the notes that sound like they should not go together, the balance is very elegant. The scents are not fighting with each other. The silage is severe but the longevity is below average. On skin, the sparkliness and lactonic notes fade out after a few hours, leaving a slightly plasticky smell. It bothers me because I would like to just reapply the perfume when it does not have the longevity of a work or school day. But, because of the silage, I would not spray this again in a day. It's an unfortunate dilemma. The smell is really intense on the first spray, which from the brand's bottle, you only need one - a lot comes out at once. I spray it from far away and let it air out for a little while before leaving. It lasts longer on clothes than on skin, but spraying your clothes would likely turn you into a perfumebomb (derogatory). I agree with the reviews describing Doliphor as "addicting". After wearing it over the day, I came to a bizarre realization that it also has base notes of anesthesia: sharp, penetrative, sparkly, gives the air an ice coldness which paradoxically warms your nostrils. Would others who have had full anesthesia for surgery notice the same? I asked two to smell the perfume after a few hours of wearing to determine its wearability. The first, who is young and agreeable, said it smells nice but suggested I seemed ambivalent about whether I really liked it. The second, who is older and has very conventional tastes, but never sugar coats her opinion, said "it's light, it doesn't offend me, I like it". It surprised me, but if it's any indication, 2/2 people felt it was wearable and inoffensive.

i've never had a fragrance draw out of me the visceral feeling of existential dread and raw terror this one has. i've almost forgotten that fragrance is capable of this, until the jarring grotesquerie that is doliphor infiltrated my limbic system to remind me, albeit violently. the best way i can conceptualize this, is as a biomorphic mass of decaying organic matter--damp clumps of hair, sludgy liquified tissue, with carrion maggots filling its orifices. the milk/cumin/carrot seed accord forms this harrowing image of a putrefying body afloat a filthy pond, the foul stench of milky-white insect eggs beginning to hatch and befog its transitory warmth. texturally, this is remarkably evocative for such a simple composition; lactescent and viscous like bacterial blooms on a turbid pond, and gaseous like the bloated body floating atop it doliphor is terrifying when inhaled too closely on the skin, when the cumin and carrot seed--meant to mimic body odor, become more apparent, together with the milk and musk, forming this bizarre contiguity between live warm skin and putrescence. reviewers mentioning the uncanny impression are correct. it's incredible how well the notes synthesize to simulate the experience of wearing someone else's skin (and i can go on about how i associate this scent with identity dysphoria a la buffalo bill, or the mortifying cartesian ordeal of living within an unfamiliar vessel, but i will humbly reserve that for my rambling substack); even more impressive is how doliphor captures opposing symbolism of warmth and life, death and decay--thermogenesis and thermolysis, simultaneously. truly a one of a kind experience. i'll be thinking about the psychic warfare this fragrance has inflicted upon me for a while

A few months ago, I made the mistake of buying a sample of a fragrance called First Milk, supposedly developed using "neuroscent technology." It claimed that it would wrap you up in warm hug of motherly love and evoke lost childhood memories. Instead, it smelled like a 1990s mall scent -- a childhood memory, true, but definitely not a lost or comforting one. Doliphor is what the "neuroscent" technicians behind First Milk should be studying. This scent taps straight into my oxytocin circuitry. Right after spraying it on, before I could even begin to put words to what I was smelling, my entire body had relaxed. I felt comforted and safe. Once the words started coming -- milky, musky, skin-like, pure -- the notes felt almost beside the point. This is an experience that takes you back to the beginning, before memories were formed. Back to warm milk. Your mom's skin. Your first bath as a baby. Wear this when you want your blood pressure to drop, when you need to believe the world's got your back, when you want to feel like there isn't any part of you that's broken or missing.

Oh, doliphor, where do I even begin. My emotions have changed 100 times since testing this perfume throughout the month. First it was 1. Your lover chewing on a sweet candy and then licking your hand. Then it was 2. It's summer on an island. The humidity outside is making your hair curl and frizz. You haven't changed your towel in over a week and its starting to smell musty/dewy/ and Milky with a slightly rancid sweetness from your body lotion. And then it became 3. It's summer and it's the hottest day of the year. You're twelve years old and you've been playing in the pool for most of the day. Your slightly sunburnt and dehydrated. You sit on a white plastic chair, wrapped in a towel, under the shade sipping on a juice box your grandmother gave you. Your skin smells just like this perfume. Slightly Salty and slightly chlorinated. Marlou has evoked a lot of memories with their incredibly human scents and they have been always my no. 1 perfume house. Doliphor my love ❤️ cannot wait to get a full bottle of this

ok so, this smell is actually addicting, when I first opened it I wasn't convinced at all, but then I put a drop on my wrist and couldn't stop sniffing it. it evolves a lot and it's way more complex than I expected, it's also pretty unisex, I've never had anything like it in my collection. also I feel like it has a lot of potential for layering, still need to test that more. EDIT: [Doliphor + Molecule 2 goes crazyyyyy] sillage-wise it's not one of those fragrances where you leave a trail everywhere you go, but it's not super intimate either, it's kind of like an aura, you get little whiffs of it every now and then. [also try spraying some in your hair, it works so well!!] if you want something subtle that just blends into your skin and natural musk, this is it, lasts a long time too. might be my favorite from marlou so far and the price is genuinely really fair for how good and unique it is EDIT 2: I ended up getting two bottles of it
